Author's Note

It has been five years since I updated this story.

Can't even began to say how sorry I am to those who were following my story.

All I can say is I received a very logical criticism from a few readers and it upset me and I all but gave up on the story.

But I want to continue.

"The case is now closed" spoke the Head Unspeakable as he got up and left the hall.

Albus nodded at the retreating figure of the Head and turned to Raoul.

"Now about those tips."

Chapter 14

Jenny did not know what was happening around her. She had still not gotten over the fact that she had seen people flushing themselves down toilets before her eyes were blindfolded by some repressive magic and her hearing taken away momentarily. Until she was given her senses back only to find herself in this courtroom of sorts.

A strange probing had been registered by her mind which resulted in her mentally reliving some of her recent memories.

The inhospitable welcome of the Courtroom was dispelled by the humorous but apparently powerful middle aged man named Dumbdoor or something.

Strange name.

The strange named man was now talking to Raoul. Her mind was still spinning in circles but she felt comfort at Raoul's presence. The past three years were aching in her heart and she knew that she needed time to even remotely understand what was going on, but the concerned look Raoul gave her every few moments gave her a semblance of solace.

"Why did you help us, Professor ?" Raoul uttered cautiously as he noticed the twinkle in the older man's eyes.

Dumbledore grinned at the young man, "I suppose your interrogation can wait until we get young Miss Jennifer a cup of tea" he stated as nudged his head in the direction of the startled blonde, "or butterbeer, anything to warm her up to the given circumstances."

Raoul looked in the direction of Jenny and back to Dumbledore and nodded reluctantly.

The Professor then led the two of them towards the atrium, not without winking at Minister of Magic who looked horrified because of the embarrassment he publicly faced a few moments priorly.

Dumbledore held his hand out to Jenny with a smile, about to offer to side along apparate her. Raoul stepped in between them and interrupted the exchange: "Its a good time as any to walk. A carriage maybe. " He did not want to startle the poor girl any further by risking her getting splinched during apparition.

On the carriage ride to Diagon Alley, Albus Dumbledore explained to the couple about how he was very curious about this specific hearing and wanted to help out the two because they had no one on their side.

Raoul told him about the pair of Aurors who were sent to apprehend them. "Aye, Lycoris and Joseph, a fine pair of talented aurors. Taught them myself. They were Head Boy and Head Girl of their year. " Albus informed the two.

What Raoul had meant to find out by talking about the two was whether they would be assigned to tail him and Jenny or not. And whether they had brought the existence of Merope's children to the Ministry's knowledge.

Alas, Dumbledore was not known to be lacking of wit. He never freely gave away information.

As the Carriage stopped at the Leaky Cauldron in London the three of them entered the pub and took a seat by the fireplace.

The chilling weather of London's winter demanded that they not discard their outer robes. To Jenny's surprise Albus tapped himself with his wand and proceeded to place his fur robes aside.

Noticing her surprise, the Professor gave a mild chuckle and said: "Warming Charm my dear, it comes in handy when more than quarter of the year gets too cold for my comfort. "

Raoul did not stop him from tapping Jenny lightly on the head with his wand which instantly warmed her up.

After having a few casual sips of their drinks Raoul explained to them about how, while on a mission he had managed to rescue Jenny three years ago and could not bring himself to obliviate her.

Jenny, with a look of gradual understanding, pitched in about how after she had pushed Raoul to the ground and escaped her prison, made her way to her sister's home and cried herself senseless. Her parents had died in the terrible War nearly a decade ago. Leaving her to fend for herself.

She did not speak of her capture at the hands of the evil wizards neither did the pair of men seated with her prod into it.

Raoul noticed her flinch whenever mention came up of her captors so he resolved to not be made to think about it again. "It was very nice of you to buy us drinks, Professor. But I'm afraid we must be off. Our employers are not aware of our predicament and it'd be best if we got back home to avoid having to explain ourselves. I bid you farewell. " He stated with a polite smile as he offered the man seated with him a handshake.

He helped Jenny out of her chair as Albus politely shook his hand. Jenny nodded her goodbye to the Professor and silently made her way to the carriage to be seated.

In haste, Albus extracted a silvery thread of a memory from his head and put it in a vial before handing it to Raoul.

"I hope this will be of use to you young man. " He patted Raoul's shoulder and headed off towards the side of the Pub that led to Diagon Alley.

Raoul looked at the vial carefully for a moment before pocketing it and heading for the carriage parked outside. It would be an awkward ride back to the Manor but he was glad that Jenny was by his side, safe and sound.
