Before I begin, someone (sorry for not remembering your name) said this is the third fanfic they've seen with a fire breathing Indoraptor. My interests for the stories are peaked, may you please tell me which stories so I may see this for myself. Thanks.
Anyway, so here we are with the next chapter, where Stryker finally finds something he hasn't seen or smelt before in his life (that wasn't trying to kill him might I add). He also meets female ferocity for the first time, but not human. What kind then? You'll have to wait and see.
Also, I've set up a poll for a future story, and please vote. I don't want it to end in a draw. Seriously... no draws. Anyway, let's get started.
Ch.14 Not as Alone as Once Thought.
Stryker has been restless the past few days. Something new has entered his part of the woods recently. Something he's only ever caught the scent of one time, but it was a forgotten scent. It was in his brain, but it has been so long he doesn't remember what it belonged to.
He has been on more patrols around his territory than usual. Finding peculiar tracks, but other than that, things have been rather quiet.
It concerned the large predator.
He had currently just entered the woods, this time to hunt rather than patrol. He used his echolocation to search for prey, but instead of prey, it caught something else. It was something that had finally matched the scent he remembered and his blood ran cold.
A Velociraptor... three of them.
He growled lowly as he then shot out towards their location. As he did, many questions ran through his mind. How did they get here? Did something similar to what happened with him happened. Why are they in his territory. The last and most important one was if they were here to kill him?
Memories of the blue one that sent him crashing through the dead skull then flooded through his head. His old, hidden, primal rage began to fuel his every being. He wasn't as mindless as he was then, and he was going to use it to his advantage.
He got closer to the raptor's location before he stopped in his tracks. His echolocation and sense of smell telling him that two of the raptors went opposite directions, the remaining one didn't move. That put him on edge, and he got into a crouch as he stalked forward slowly, but surely.
That's when he crept through the underbrush until he was at the edge of the clearing. He saw a sleek brownish orange Velociraptor. Something that really got his attention though was one thing in particular. She was female.
That made him tense. He hasn't interacted with a female before. He doesn't count the blue one because that was when he was borderline insane. Her sent though was making him anxious, he didn't know why. He took a whiff of the air and could sense the other two still in the brush. Meaning this could turn violent quickly.
Steeling himself, Stryker took slow steps out into the open, the female raptor having her back to him. As he walked closer, he kept his senses on full alert. This could very well be a trap.
The female then turned and saw him, and she began to growl lowly. "Who are you?" He heard her growl.
He stopped in his tracks as he tilted his head. No one has spoken in his language before. It was rather new to him. "I should probably be the one asking you," he responded, tapping his killing toe into the ground before sending the other two starting to surround him. "You are in my territory after all."
"Ain't like we have a choice," she growled, making Stryker wonder if she's wanting a fight. "Alpha wanted us to wipe out the Grimm of the area."
Stryker looked down at her, he was easily four feet taller than her, the raptors being just a bit taller than Yang. He smirked. "Is that so? Then where is your fearless Alpha? Or better yet, your companions, because hiding from me isn't going to help anyone here."
She growled at him momentarily before calling out to the other two, who shot out and felll in beside the one that stood before him. The one to the left was a light green with stripes going across the back, while the other to the right had emerald green to her scales.
"Not gonna lie, sis," said he emerald green one spoke up to the brownish orange one, "we've never seen a male before."
"Focus," was the reply she received from her sister, but that didn't stop her from checking him out.
That made Stryker confused as she looked to be doing what Yang does with some boys. The look he usually scorned the blonde brawler over. "May I ask for names," Stryker asked, "or am I not worthy."
The three females then slowly started to surround Stryker again, this time making him tense as he was unaware what their intentions were for him. He was ready to go on defensive at a moments notice though.
After a moment, the three stopped their circling and stared up at him. The striped one spoke first. "Name's Charlie," she said.
"Delta," the emerald green raptor said.
The brownish orange one was hesitant for a moment before speaking. "Echo," she growled out.
Delta stepped a bit closer and looked up at him. "What's your name, handsome."
Stryker wasn't sure what to say at the moment, he's pretty sure that this one is trying to seduce him or something. He's read to many of Blake's books to assume otherwise. He answered nonetheless. "Stryker."
"What kind of name is that," Echo growled out.
Stryker only smirked. "What kind of name is Echo?"
That got the other two to stifle giggles as their sister looked straight into the larger raptor's eyes. "Don't test me," she growled.
"Do you do anything but growl," the Indoraptor asked, amused on how easily she was getting pissed. She was about to lunge at him if an Ursai Major hadn't appeared from out of the brush, and it towered over them.
"Let's do this," Charlie said excitedly, but before her or her sisters could move, Stryker had shot past them, tackled the beast to the ground, and crushed it's windpipe within seconds. It wasn't that hard for him, he's been doing it for months and it has now become easy for him to perform.
He turned to look at the females and saw that look on their faces that made him snort in amusement. "These things are like paper," he said with a shrug before his senses went off and he sensed a deer not far from them, and he licked his chops.
"And there be dinner," he said to himself as he took off through the brush, leaving three shocked female Velociraptors wondering what just happened. "Uh what just happened?" Charlie asked.
"A large, handsome beast of a raptor just kill a Major in less than ten seconds," Delta answered, "I wanna see more."
"We gotta job to do, Delta," Echo sternly told her sister.
Charlie then piped up. "I wanna see more to," she said, though unlike Delta, she meant action wise, not sexually.
Echo growled to herself. She won't lie and say what she just saw wasn't impressive, but they have a job to do, and they needed to get it done. "You two can gawk at him later, right now... we have to finish the job." She then took off the opposite direction of where the Indoraptor went, and soon Charlie, and then Delta, much to the emerald raptor's dislike, followed.
All three were unaware that Stryker didn't go to far, the deer was closer than expected. He saw the way they went and stared at that direction. He then had a quite hopeful realization.
He wasn't the only raptor! He had a chance at having a future!
He quickly grabbed a mouthful of deer for himself before moving the rest of the kill to the opening, leaving it for the girls if they just so wanted it. He then took off back towards the academy. He knew they couldn't understand him, but Ruby might just get an idea of what he will say to them.
And that's that he's not the only raptor in these woods.
Talking dinosaurs, why? Because this is a Stryker centered chapter and I thought I should add dialogue. So we meet Echo, Delta, and Charlie. Bet you were expecting it, but maybe you weren't. They are slightly older then him in this due to time loops from JW universe to the RWBY universe. Sure, age doesn't matter for reptiles, but these four are highly intelligent. Add to the fact that Stryker has zero idea of how to act around women. That's to be solved next chapter, or so he hopes.
