"I'll drop off here." I announce to the pilot, staring down at the familiar ruined city.

He looks at me hesitantly. "Are you sure? This place is packed with Grimm, you know."

"I am." I say with absolute certainty.

He stares silently for a minute before sighing. "Fine." The pilot lowers the Bullhead on a clear area and I leave the vehicle as he does so. "Just... Be careful, alright?"

I smile reassuringly. "I will, don't worry."

He gives me a half-hearted salute and flies off the city.

I scout my surroundings, not seeing a single hostile near me. This is where the mission took place three days ago. I came here in hopes of killing thee three bosses and opening the dungeon, because I don't have much time. The festival is only five days away, and I need to get stronger so I can face Emerald, Mercury and Cinder together. Splitting them apart will be nigh-impossible, considering they'll know that someone had sabotaged their plans the moment Cinder uses the virus.

"Heh." I smirk as I spot a lone Creep minding its own business. I throw a single fire spear, instantly turning it to ashes.

51EXP!

I frown. They barely give anything anymore...

I shrug. Oh well.

Activating my Sense Life skill, I immediately flinch and back away in revulsion. What the hell?! The feeling they give off is just... Sickening. So disgusting...

I don't think anyone should feel clean after sensing that. Ugh...

I sigh deeply. This is gonna be a long morning.

And there's the first one... I think? I mean, It's definitely stronger than most other Grimm I found, but it looks... Weird. A much smaller than average Deathstalker with armor only covering parts of its body and all of its claws. The tail and stinger are completely devoid of any protection.

Name: Dexterous Deathstalker.

Level: 65

HP: 9000/9000

STR: 180

VIT: 90

DEX: 230

INT: 10

DEF: 20

Okay, I'm gonna guess it's relatively young. Unfortunately, Observe doesn't show the Grimm's age until it's actually relevant. 5 years or more.

Maybe this is a different breed?

(Grimm can't breed.)

I roll my eyes. You know what I mean.

Whatever, not like it makes a difference. I raise my arm and form a fire spear, launching it at the scorpion. It surprisingly perceives the attack and moves out of the way just in time, causing the spear to hit the ground.

Huh.

(What are you gonna do? Shoot it again when it can't hit you, you camper?)

I chuckle. Guess I have get and kill it the old way.

I jump down from the building I was on, landing in front of the Deathstalker while it hisses at me.

"Alright, bring it."

It screeches and charges surprisingly fast. I dodge a stab from its stinger and back away as it swipes its pincers at me.

I think I overestimated its speed.

I create a mana shield and block another stinger attack while deflecting its pincer with Starlight. It's trying to not give any chance to retaliate...

Well, too bad.

I raise a leg and axe-kick one of the pincers, smashing the armor completely. It screeches and attacks with the stinger again while I tilt my head, making the attack miss me by an inch and cut off the tail with a single strike. It backs away and screeches again and I jump over onto it, creating a lightning bomb and plunge it inside the Grimm and back away with Soru, destroying a chunk of its body in the process.

Huh... I think I just discovered a new way to use Soru in an offensive manner.

The bomb explodes and vaporizes the boss as I mused, making me sigh in disappointment.

12000EXP!

Deathstalkers are probably one of the weakest types of Grimm. Extremely slow and only two ways of attacking. Yes, the poison is deadly and it has one of the hardest armors, but that's just about it.

Let's just hope I find something that can give me a good fight...

Ooooh!

Name: Alpha Goliath

Now that's what I was looking for!

Strangely enough, it's alone, despite being an alpha. Where's the pack?

Oh well. I don't think I can take an entire pack of Goliaths just yet.

I immediately start barraging it with a lot of magic. Fire and lightning, I use every ounce of my mana to damage it as much as possible.

HP: 6313/24000

... I was betting on killing it with only one barrage. Damn it...

(Hahaha!)

The elephant cries out, charging at the building I'm on fast. The already ruined building collapses with its ram, making me jump off and behind it. It turns around and rushes me with a roar, trying to impale me with its tusk. I narrowly evade it and dash underneath it, slicing all of its four legs while sending jolts of electricity to the rest of its body.

It trips and falls to the ground, as the legs cannot support it anymore, and it tumbles in a nearby building, which collapses on the Grimm and completely buries it.

21000EXP! Level up!

...That was kinda disappointing. The Grimm aren't much of a threat to me anymore.

(Magic is very effective against Grimm. Not only damage-wise, but also strategically. If mages were normal on Remnant, mages will the ones hunting Grimm, and huntsmen and huntresses hunt Rogue mages. For simplicity's sake, Grimm are rock, mages are paper, and huntsmen are scissors.)

Interesting...

Maybe I shouldn't use magic so much anymore. You would like that, wouldn't you?

(Not really. I mostly enjoy the decisions you make, not the battles you fight.)

Really?

(Yeah. Not that I don't enjoy fights, but they're just a little bonus.)

Huh... The more you know...

"Country rooooad~ Take me hooome~"

(To the plaaace~ I belooooong~)

"West Virginiaaaaaaa~"

(Mountain mommaaaaaaa~ Take m- Fuck! Grimm spotted!)

Damn it, I was just getting in the mood.

I slowly turn my head to where my senses warned. "Alright, who dares-" I freeze.

What the fuck is that?

(A Beowulf.)

I know it's a Beowulf but why does it have LIGHTNING DUST plunged in its back?! Don't tell me that Salem found a way to infuse Dust with Grimm.

(Nah, she's not smart enough. This is just a game addition I added.)

Is that so... Well, with the fear of Salem finding new ways to fuck us over gone, I will admit, it does look cool.

(Thank you! Finally someone appreciates my work! All of your predecessors just whine and complain a lot. I'm trying to make this fun!)

I chuckle, then pause in confusion. "Wait, there are other Gamers before me?"

(Yeah. Most of them are dead though.)

What?! How can you even die if you're the Gamer?!

(... Interference.)

The amount of venom accompanying that word made me shiver. Not something good, I imagine?

(The Grimm is charging at you.)

Huh?

I narrowly back-step from a lunge and glare at it. "Hey! Do you mind?! I'm talking to a friend here!"

(Bloodborne OST - Cleric Beast)

It doesn't growl as it missed, neither does it snarl. It simply glares through the helmet-like skull it was wearing.

My senses are finally telling me how much of a threat it is.

It's strong. Stronger than anything I encountered so far. I don't need to see its stats to recognize its power.

I get in stance and sharpen my reflexes to the max, noticing slight movement before it disappears completely, reappearing to my right in a second. I duck under its claw as the other claw heads to my face. I deflect it, the sound of metals meeting is an indication of how strong its claws are.

I back away and it charges, blades meeting claws at speeds faster than the human eye can see. It lunges with its head, aiming to bite off my own and I side-step, aiming both blades to cut off its head. It sees through my attack and grabs my hands, stopping said attack with its superior strength.

"Wha-?!" It cuts me off as it stabs me with one of its own bladed claw. Thankfully, my Aura and armor managed to stop the attack from getting too severe. I kick off the ground, shattering it and backing away far enough to catch my breath. It lets me, slowly getting on two of its legs as its eyes stare at me.

Its too fast for me. Even if I use my Gear Second, It's almost twice as fast as me. And I bet that its immune to lightning.

Suddenly, its body starts cackling with electricity, and I could've sworn that it grinned for a split-second.

I didn't react until its too late as it sent me flying to one of the buildings, smashing the concrete it was made of. I quickly get up and create a shield as I block another lunge. I aim my palm and blast it with fire, doing a good amount of damage to it. I gasp as it breaks the shield and punches my stomach, knocking the wind out of me.

I grab the arm and heat up my hands, making it howl in pain. I take the chance as it distracted and kick its face, sending it back to the clearing. I use Soru and swing both blades at it, but it ducks and tries to slash my chest. I back away, but not unharmed as it grazes me and takes away the last remaining bit of my Aura.

Aura Shattered!

I grin madly. "Yes! This is exactly what I was waiting for!" I crack my neck. "Come on! We're just getting started!"

It snarls and vanishes again, appearing behind me, but I perceive the move as I jump over the strike and charge up mana to make a giant fire bomb.

It dashes out of the away as I throw the massive bomb at the ground, completely incinerating everything nearby and setting the clearing on bright blue flames. I smirk at the frozen stature of the surviving Beowulf and gesture for it to come.

"What's wrong? Scared?"

Taunt Successful!

It growls and charges, much more visible as I finally got used to its ridiculous speed. I narrowly duck under a swing of its claw and block another with Starlight. I let the blades fall, carrying them by the chains wrapped around my arm and pay back the punch to the stomach with a Haki-infused fist. It barely reacts as it attempts to strike my head. I catch its arm and burnt it with fire. It roars in agony, and I grab it by the shoulder and Haki-headbutt it with a yell, cracking the helmet in the process.

[Daze] Inflicted!

It backs a bit and tries to shake away the status effect. I smirk widely and grab the blades, charging with a Warcry and impale its heart with both blades.

Critical Hit!

"You are powerful. I think that you could be the strongest Grimm in this region. Not counting the Wyvern of course." I complement. "I doubt you could understand, but thank you for this exciting fight."

I pull out the plunged blades and cut off its head, assuring my victory.

I walk up to dungeon and sigh in disappointment.

Really? I expected something harder. The Beowulf was certainly powerful.

(They're randomized.)

I know, I know.

Well, on the bright side, I don't need to rest and do it now.

...But I want it to be a bit challenging, you know? I can do it with weighted gear but the current ones I have don't really help anymore, and I don't think I should buy more because of how expensive they can get.

Hmm... Maybe...

I open up the inventory and look at my current weapons. Maybe I should only use one weapon the entire dungeon? So I can level up the Mastery skills.

Should I use Minisha-

I spot a certain weapon and my jaw drops.

[Glass Bow (Rare)]

A bow made of refined Moonstone and Malachite, two very powerful metals found throughout Skyrim. This particular bow was enchanted by Reid Astera to make it shoot faster than usual. Wind runes were etched on it, making it deal wind damage. Deals 335 physical damage and 70 wind damage. Deals 550 physical damage and 120 wind damage when fully drawn.

Holy shit bows are OP! It wasn't that powerful when I enchanted it! Were bows one of the weapon classes that were buffed? Because this is a huge boost.

Pfft who needs guns when you have bows, am I right?

Maybe I should give Minishark to Jaune. He needs it more than I do.

But now...

I stretch my muscles and head to the dungeon.

"Almost heaven~ West Virginiaaaa~"

(... Blue Ridge Mountains~ Shenandoah Riveeeer~)

"This place gives me the creeps..." I shiver as I look around the ghost town looking very similar to an Earth town.

There's not much difference between Earth and Remnant cities. Earth ones look a bit more advanced obviously, but Remnant's have this... Medieval feel to them.

I've always liked the Dust lamps lighting the streets at night. Really adds to the fantasy vibes you get.

This place... not so much.

Lights flickering and rundown buildings, cracked road and broken cars everywhere. It looks like a zombie apocalypse happened.

Well, this is a zombie dungeon. I wouldn't be surprised.

It does look different than the ghost one though. That one was... Clean? The city there was like being maintained. Unlike here, where everything is in ruin.

"Ughhh..." A groan breaks my musings as an undead slowly walks towards me from a half-collapsed house.

And that's the first one. I raise my bow and draw the string, aiming to its head. Letting go of the string, the arrow misses it completely and hits the door behind it.

Oof.

(You missed.)

I can see that.

I draw another shot and miss again.

(You suck at this.)

Shut up.

Come on, third try's the charm. I draw once more and shoot, hitting in the heart and killing it.

I sigh. This is gonna take a long time to level up. I don't think 250 zombies are gonna be enough to level it up past 30.

I shrug. Meh, I have patience. I start whistling and walk forwards, stretching my senses and following the revolting feel of the zombies. At least they feel better than the Grimm.

I groan. This is so sloooooow. I can only find three to four zombies in every area. and they're spread out so far away.

I groan again.

(I have an idea.)

Yeah?

(Why not take one of the cars?)

I can?!

(Of course you can! That red one to your right works.)

Umm... I don't have a key though?

(So? you have magic, make one.)

I quickly run to said car and check it out. I don't recognize it...

And it doesn't have a key-hole in the door.

She sighs. (Just break the window and open it from the inside.)

Oh, right. I reel my arm back and...

Smash!

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

Oh, I forgot about this.

I suddenly hear loud shrieks, roars, and groans coming from all directions. I whip my head behind me and see swarms of undead sprinting towards me.

Altair bursts out laughing. (I can't believe you fell for that!)

"I TRUSTED YOU!" I Soru above a clothing store. "I TRUSTED YOU!"

(And your trust wasn't misplaced. Instead of tracking them down, I simply made them track you instead.)

"I-" I pause. huh... "That's... True." I smile in gratitude. "Thanks!"

(Too easy.)

What?

"UUUGHAAAAA" A big one roars, throwing...

I side-step and dodge a flying zombie while laughing. "Is it seriously throwing its friends at me? Oh man this is just ridiculous."

I aim and start shooting the big one, only killing it after three shots, while five other missed.

"I'm so over-leveled for this" I mutter while shooting the ones clawing at the building I'm on, climbing each other to reach me.

My senses warn me of an attack from above, making me roll out of the way. I look for the attacker and spot a flying zombie with fleshy wings.

"Oh my god..." I groan. "This has to be a joke." I Soru to a taller building and aim my bow at them. "This is supposed to be a D-Rank dungeon, Altair."

(It is. The one you're thinking of is an F-Rank with only 50 zombies)

"...What's an SSS-Rank zombie dungeon?"

(Undead Gods.)

I shake my head and focus at my current enemies. Granted most of my shots are missed, but I managed to kill all of the flying ones, getting back my attention back to the walkers.

I dismiss my bow and rush with Soru, grabbing its head and slamming it to the ground. I form a mana barrier around us and smile apologetically.

"Sorry, but we're gonna stay like this for a while."

"Ughh?"

I take a deep breath.

(Ohh nooo...)

"Seal! Unseal! Seal! Unseal! Seal! Unseal!"

(Many, many hours later...)

Seal Power has reached max level! Seal magic leveled up X9!

"Finally!" I let go of the Lich and check the skill. "So level 50 is max..."

A grin threatens to split my face. "Yesss! This is amazing!" I stare at the lich beneath me. "I'm done. You can finally die now."

It groans and raises the stumps that used to be its arms in celebration.

I accidentally broke the spirit of a lich.

I look at the dark blue bottle in interest.

I wonder what it tastes like...

I open up the bottle and sniff it, raising an eyebrow at the smell. Thought it would be a lot worse. Why does it smell fruity?

I shrug and take a sip.

...Woah, alright, it's pretty good. I am not unfamiliar with alcohol, since I went to parties before all of this. And parties have a lot of alcohol.

And you say it tastes differently with every alignment?

Maybe I should try making one...

I put it in the inventory as ideas goes through my head.

Alright, I think I should go back.

This was a really good day.

Face-planting on the bed, I let out a satisfied sigh. Today was a very productive day. Killed a lot of Grimm, got a good fight, maxed out a skill, and finished a dungeon.

I think I'm ready for the Festival. I can probably defeat Cinder alone, but I don't know about Emerald and Mercury with her. Emerald is practically a weakling without her semblance. Mercury, on the other hand, is a trained assassin. Neo...

I smirk. Neo is with me.

Still, I need to counter Emerald's semblance. I know that I'm immune to them, but not everyone else. She'll use it on Yang and Pyrrha, but how do I stop her without her knowing?

... ... ...

Enchanting?

Yes, that sounds like a good idea. What should I enchant though? Their clothes? I snort. Yeah sure, let's just ask them for their clothes, that's normal.

Hmm...

... ... ...

I turn on the MS and scroll through the accessories window. I take one bronze bracelet, one gold, and one silver.

-30 GC

Huh... that's a new message.

I shake my head and focus on the items with my eyes closed, filling them with my mana.

3 Items enchanted!

[Bronze Bracelet (Rare)]

[Silver Bracelet (Rare)]

A silver bracelet enchanted by Reid Astera. It makes the wearer immune to illusions.

[Gold Bracelet (Rare)]

A Gold bracelet enchanted by Reid Astera. It makes the wearer immune to illusions.

To Pyrrha, Neo, and Yang respectively. Why Neo? Well, she'll help beat the three up, so having this will be really helpful.

I pause for a second before a warm smile graces my lips. I buy another one, a red painted iron bracelet and enchant it.

-5 GC

[Iron Bracelet (Rare)]

An iron bracelet painted red and enchanted by Reid Astera. It increases the wearer's Aura by 750

And this one is for Ruby.

(Awwww!)

My face takes on a crimson shade. I... Forgot you were here.

(Well you shouldn't. I'll always be here. Always watching you.)

I let out a drawled-out sigh. Goodbye privacy...

(Nah, I'm just messing with you. I know when to leave you alone.)

And when's that?

(When you're not doing something interesting. Like, fucking.)

I chuckle. That's reassuring.

(I mean, why would I want to see you have sex? That's dumb.)

That's basically what porn is, you know.

(Well, I'm not masturbating to you.)

I blanch. Please Don't.

Knock! Knock!

I groan. Can't I please rest?

(You don't nee-)

You stay quiet.

I slowly get out of the bed as the knocks intensify. "Fine! I'm coming! Yeesh..."

Opening the door, Yang looks at me with a smile. "Heey! Where were you?"

"Oh you know..." I scratch my head. "Taking a walk."

She raises an eyebrow, but drops it. "Are you free? We need to talk."

...This is about Ruby and I, isn't it?

"Sure. Just let me get dressed."

"Alright. I'll meet you near the bullhead."

I nod and close the door. I wanna nap so bad...

"Goddamn it..." Junior sighs at the sight of Yang's smiling face. "What do you want now?"

Man, why is this place so empty? You'd think it'd be full to the brim.

"Just a drink."

"You're lying." He immediately accuses, making me snort.

"I'm not. Really, one Strawberry Sunrise and I'm a happy woman."

"A woman she says..." She mutters.

Yang glares. "What was that?"

"Nothing. Just take a seat and please don't make any trouble. And you? Need anything?"

"Same as her." He nods

Yang loses her glare and smiles happily. She grabs me by the arm and takes me to the furthest table near the corner.

We sit opposite of each other. "So where did you go today?"

"I told you: A walk."

"Right, right."

"Yang, you can cut the small talk. What is it?"

She narrows her eyes at me. "What is Ruby to you?"

I raise an eyebrow. "My girlfriend."

"How do you feel about her?"

"I love her." I say with no hesitation.

"Really?" She gets up and leans closer. "And if I don't accept you as a boyfriend?"

I return her glare. "Well, you can quite frankly go fuck yourself."

Her eyes widen for a second, not expecting an answer like this, before they turn red. She grabs by the collar and raises me up. "Oh really?" She growls.

"Yes, really." Unflinchingly, I return her glare. She keeps her own for a full minute before closing her eyes and letting me fall.

She sighs and smiles. "Guess you pass."

20 Reputation with Yang Xiao-Long!

"That's it?" I ask.

"I would've gone harder on you, but you're a friend." She admits. "I know what kind of person you are." She sits down. "I'm sorry for that. I just needed to make sure, you know?"

"It's fine." I wave off her concerns.

"...You know, after my mom died, I raised Ruby most of my life." She starts. "So seeing her getting to Beacon early, being a team leader, having so many friends, and now someone who she loves is... Surreal."

She continues. "Most people would be tired taking care of someone at the age of 6, but not me." Her voice cracks. "I loved taking care of her. No matter how tedious, no matter how hard, I never hated it." Her eyes start to water. "So seeing her start to rely on someone other than me... It hurts, you know? I... I know how selfish this sounds-"

"It's not." I cut her off with a warm smile. "It's not selfish, Yang. This just proves how much you love her." I get up and sit near her. "Having someone like you as a sister... It made her the luckiest girl in the world."

She looks at me, her lips trembling. "Do you think-" She hiccups. "Do you think I did enough for her?"

"More than that."

She stays silent for minute before a giggle escapees her. Giggles turn to chuckles, and chuckles turn to full-blown laughter.

Wiping her tears away and still laughing, she pulls me into a hug. "Thanks, Reid." Her laughter stops and she sniffles. "I really needed to hear that."

For reassuring her, Yang's REP Rank reached [Well Liked]! She sees you as her Closest Friend!

I return the hug with smile. "Anytime."

"So..." She clears her throat. "I never thought you would be so romantic."

"Huh?" I look at her in confusion. "What do you mean?"

"Weeeeelll..." She grins teasingly. "Ruby told me about how 'smoothly' you asked her out."

I immediately hide my burning face. "Noooooooooo!"

She laughs. "How did you think of that?!"

"I don't know!"

"Were you drunk?!"

Tears of embarrassment trickle my eyes. "I don't know. Please just kill meeee..."

"Oh man!" She laughs. "It was funny how she thought it was cute."

"Please stop... Wait!" My blood runs cold at the thought. "S-she didn't tell anyone, did she?!"

"Huh?" She wipes a tear away. "Nah, just me."

I release a sigh of relief. "Oh thank god..."

"Well, Reid." She gets up. "I guess I took enough of your time." She smirks teasingly. "Later, Ladykiller."

As she walks off, I stop her. "Wait." I pull out the bracelet and give it to her. "Here. A lucky charm for the tournament."

Her eyes widen. "For me?" I nod and she grins. "Aw that's nice. Though, you shouldn't give a lady gifts like this. She might get the wrong idea."

15 Reputation with Yang Xiao-Long!

I roll my eyes. "It's just a gift between friends."

"Oof. Friendzoned." We share a laugh. "Alright, see you later..."

I nod with a smile. Seeing her leave the place, I sink back in the sofa.

"Where's Blondie?" Junior suddenly arrives with the order.

Ah, she forgot about the sunrise.

"She left. I'll pay for the rest."

He nods and puts the drinks on the table.

Oh well, another one for me...

Eyy! How are you guys doing? Fine, I hope. I thought this chapter would be out at the 3rd or 5th, so what a surprise. I just got this urge to write.

Hope that Yang thing didn't feel too OOC. I just wanted to give her a bit more character regarding her sister that she seemed to completely forgot about after Vol.3

It's actually annoying how little she cares about Ruby now. No matter what excuse you have, she's still your sister. But nope! Her attention is on Blake only. That's the one thing that matters now.

*sigh* I know I'm ranting, but I'm just disappointed how they handled the Team relationship. I mean, I never really liked bumblebee, but I hate how bad it was handled even more.

Rooster teeth tried to appease the shippers at the cost of Adam's character and the sister's relationship. This is why you never listen to the fans.

But enough about me, let's get to the reviews.

ProfesorGoblitz: Again, I'm not underestimating Natsu. Peak Natsu is 4-star easily. but I'm talking about pre Laxus' lightning natsu. Really early natsu.

Guest: He won't, or at least not yet. He will one day, but that's really far away. The future vision can be explained by one word. "Magic"

Giltlawyer9000: Oh man, Solo Leveling is one of the best comics I've ever read. The art, action, MC are all so good! Also, shouldn't the cursed be what you want?

Zero-Alpha00: Well, I did fix the problem in later chapter. I have no idea when I'll go back and fix the previous ones though.

Moneyman2: Gacha can give you anything you could think of. It won't give him DD because of how broken it is.

Haxorus knight: Umm... What?
