Chapter 14 – Tamiko Wong
Tammy was walking home through the park, pondering what was the point of Valentina and all these so-called tests and preliminary experiments that they had tried to carry out on Takeshi. She was thankful that Noa and Marie were able to get her friend out of the building with the help of champion level Digimon, Ginryumon.
The park was quiet and Tammy barely passed anyone, apart from a lone jogger. It made her feel peaceful as she brushed her hand over the surface of the nearby bushes she was walking alongside.
"But what does Valentina want?" Tammy mumbled to herself before she heard a raucous call. "What was that?"
A rustle of trees overhead alerted her of FanBeemon's presence. "Tammy, it's a Digimon- this way..."
The teenager followed her partner away from the path, halting when she saw a sharp muddy slope. She frowned when she saw what looked like an amorphous puddle at the base of the slope.
"That's a Digimon?" Tammy asked as the puddle flailed about. "It doesn't look like one."
"No, it is. It definitely is- I can sense it."
Tammy tried to hold her digivice down to look at the Digimon, but it didn't react in the same way it had done so for Frigimon. "That's strange."
"What is it?"
"Look- no data..." Tammy showed FanBeemon the screen of the device with red letters blinking across the screen.
No data.
Her head snapped round to the creature shifting form to help it climb the bank. "Do you think it's one of the New Twelve?"
"Either that of it's a failed experiment from a power plant..."
"Funny. Come on FanBeemon, we need to get the others." Tammy waved her hand, ushering the Digimon, quickly realising he wasn't following. "FanBeemon?"
"You go. I'll watch what the newbie does, okay?"
-o-
Leaving FanBeemon at the park, Tammy was only able to round up Takeshi. Noa had responded to her text saying he could possibly come later.
"What does it look like?" Takeshi asked, speed walking alongside Tammy. "This unknown Digimon."
"You'd think I was pulling your leg, but I'm not. It looks like a shape shifting puddle."
Takeshi didn't know whether to laugh or gawp at her in disbelief. "Come on Dorumon- stealthily not clumsily!"
The purple Digimon fell out of the greenery to slam down onto the path. Takeshi slapped a hand to his head as Tammy giggled at the state of his partner.
"This way..." she whispered, pulling Takeshi away from the path. "FanBeemon has been watching it."
"Woah- you're weren't kidding..." murmured Takeshi.
Takeshi jerked as Dorimon crashed into him, sending him tumbling over the ledge and rolling down the slope.
FanBeemon hovered beside Tammy, offering his limbs for her to hold onto. "How about a mud free way to get to the base?"
"That would be my pleasure."
Tammy was lifted off the ground and dropped gently on the opposite end of the slope that looked directly onto the puddly creature.
FanBeemon rested a feeler on his tamer's shoulder. "I think I know it's name. Since you left, I got a closer look, avoided a few Mystic Jet water attacks... Aside from its attacks, the Digimon says one other thing."
"Which is?"
"I think it's name."
"Are you going to tell me what that is?"
"Mizugamemon."
"Sounds like a water Digimon." Tammy watched as Takeshi got to his feet. "You okay, Takeshi?"
Takeshi held a thumbs up sign to her and then brushed the dust off his jeans and hoodie. "It's all good here." His voice growled as he saw the smears of mud on his clothes.
"Mizugamemon- Mystic Jet!" the puddle Digimon cried out, thrusting its hands forwards aggressively. A torrent of ice cold water slammed into the muddy bank, spraying mud everywhere.
Dorumon and Takeshi climbed out of the ditch with Tammy's help and together, they watched Mizugamemon writhe about in the bottom. Tammy leant forwards, frowning massively. She watched it writhing around, like it was trying to lift itself up. It just looked so small that it shouldn't have to struggle, and if it was water, then it could use its lucid form to wriggle free...
"It's trapped, it's trying to get out from the thick soil." Tammy looked over at Takeshi. "Shouldn't we try to help it?"
Takeshi shook his head. "Not a chance – that thing could be one of the New Twelve that Noa told us about. One of them has the power to injure Baihumon. That Digimon is apparently one of the Digimon Sovereign- leaders of the Digiworld. We can't take chances. This Digimon is a threat."
"But we don't know that for definite." Tammy folded her arms for a moment before stepping over the lip of the ditch. "I'm going to help it. You stay here if you want..."
She urged FanBeemon to follow her and as she approached the Mizugamemon, it attacked, throwing water at her.
"Enough Mizugamemon- I'm here to help you," Tammy whispered, trying to touch the fluid creature.
"Mystic Jet!" Mizugamemon threw water into the air, drenching Tammy's clothes. It roared and then burst up through the air, showering dirt down on Tammy and her partner. A watery fist grappled with Tammy, lifting her up off the ground.
"Tammy!" Takeshi howled. "Dorumon- help her out!"
Dorumon nodded before skittering down the slope towards her. "Dorumon can do this- yes, Dorumon can! Dash Metal!" He opened his mouth wide before unleashing a ball of hot iron towards Mizugamemon.
FanBeemon was keen to help too. "Gear Sting!"
Tammy writhed and squirmed as Mizugamemon dodged the attack. "FanBeemon- you have to digivolve! FanBeemon- digivolve!"
"FanBeemon digivolve to, Waspmon!" Waspmon zipped up into the air to avoid Mizugamemon swiping its watery limbs through the air. "How about a Turbo Stinger?!" Waspmon fired rounds rapidly from its laser cannon.
"Torrent Tides!"
Waspmon was blasted through the air, crashing hard into the banks of the ditch.
"Waspmon!" Tammy screamed as her partner Digimon lay unconscious. "What is that?" She could see something watching them in the distance – a little white creature. "Takeshi, do something!"
Takeshi was feeling a little bit panicked by now and gawped at Dorumon and Mizugamemon fighting. "Dorumon, give it some heat!"
"Okay- Metal Cannon!"
The attack wasn't quite strong enough and required Dorumon to dodge and weave floundering movements from Mizugamemon.
"Mystic Jet!" Mizugamemon flung a jet of water towards Dorumon causing Takeshi to panic and shout out.
"Dorumon!" As he shouted, a bright green light emanated from Takeshi's digivice, tearing through the air towards Dorumon.
"Dorumon, digivolve to – Dorugamon!" Dorumon had sprouted two majestic wings and sharp red claws on his white hands. Dorugamon struck Mizugamemon where it held onto Tammy, causing fall through the air.
Takeshi slid down the ditch, catching Tammy in his arms. "Tammy! Oh- send it packing, Dorugamon!"
"Cannonball!"
A large iron sphere charged up in the champion level Digimon's mouth before firing through the air towards Mizugamemon.
The watery Digimon squirmed and struggled to slide its way out of the ditch, throwing water fuelled attacks at Dorugamon. It was apparent that Mizugamemon was not going to be staying around for the fighting. Tammy and Takeshi could feel the adrenaline running through their veins as they stopped to help their exhausted now-rookie level Digimon up.
"I saw another Digimon... A cute, white little guy... Tiny ears, big green eyes... I think it was watching us," Tammy explained to Takeshi as they climbed up with their clothes damp and dripping.
He pressed a finger to his lips with one hand and put the other one out to block the Digimon. Takeshi turned slowly, Tammy watched him dive towards a bush and snatch a small, squirming Digimon.
"What is that?" Tammy held up her D-Power to the Digimon. "A... Calumon? I've never even heard of that one."
Calumon wriggled and squealed. "Please don't hurt me, Takato!"
Takeshi gasped. "Takato? That's my dad's name. How do you know him?"
Calumon gawped at the pair. "Oh boy... This isn't good."
Thoughts from AspiringWriterGirl = Another champion Digimon acquired – but who or what is Mizugamemon (apart from a water type Digimon!)
