Episode 15: Smash Kart Double Crash
Remaining Competitors: Samus, Cloud, Isabelle, Link, Captain Falcon, Marth, Little Mac, Ryu
We start with Sakurai giving the recap.
CLast time on Super Smash Island," Sakurai said, "I hosted a telethon so that we could save the show. Everyone pulled out all the stops to raise money, while Marth was getting mad that he couldn't get any calls. In the end, Captain Falcon and Lucina managed to put on a great show to help us reach our goal. Through a tiebreaker, Cap won immunity, and everyone thought for sure that Marth would be out, but surprised everyone when they found out he had found the invincibility statue. The only vote that wasn't for Marth went to Lucina, and she got the boot, but not before Cap finally manned up and told her how he felt about her. He got the girl of his dreams, and had to say goodbye to her all at the same time. Find out what will happen today on this exciting episode of Super...Smash...Island!"
Cue intro
We start in the morning, with everyone at breakfast. Samus, Mac, and Cap were sitting together going over their next plan of action.
"It's just not right." Mac said, "He's just got too much of the devil's luck.
"We gotta do something." Falcon said, "He's been responsible for so many people being unfairly eliminated."
"Look, I get it." Samus said, "But I don't know what we're gonna do. We need more help. Cloud won't help, since he wanna works by himself, so he's out."
"You sure we can't convince him?" Falcon asked.
"I tried." Mac said, "He's moody and mostly keeps to himself. He's been like that since he learned the truth about Marth. He won't budge."
"Okay….What about Link?" Falcon suggested.
"Maybe." Samus said, "He's kind of flown under the radar lately. He could be a big help."
"Okay." Mac said, "What about Isabelle?"
Isabelle walks up to them and surprises them.
"I heard you guys. I'm in." Isabelle said.
"Aah! Don't sneak up on us like that!" Falcon said.
"Good to know." Samus said, "That leaves Link and Ryu."
They look over at the two of them sitting there just eating and minding their own business.
"Just leave Ryu to me." Mac said, "One of you should talk to Link."
"I'll do it." Isabelle said.
"Sounds like a plan." Falcon said.
Confessional
The confessional opens up with Captain Falcon.
"If we're gonna do this," he said, "we'll need everyone. Now that Marth doesn't have that immunity statue to help him out, he's starting to run out of options. And so are we. This game's getting tougher for everyone."
End of Confessional
They then hear a loud noise outside, like an engine revving up.
"I swear," Marth said, "if Sakurai has something to do with this, I'm gonna be pissed."
They all head outside and see Sakurai there on a motorcycle. He's dressed like you would normally see a biker dressed.
"What do you all think of this baby?" Sakurai asked, "Just bought it. Listen to her purr!"
He then revved it up again.
"You better have a good reason to be doing this." Marth said.
Sakurai then turns it off and takes off his helmet.
"Gotta say, I thought you all would've thought this was cool." Sakurai said.
"Yeah, but that thing's too loud." Falcon said.
"I was just trying to get your engines ready for today's challenge." Sakurai said.
"Does it have something to do with motorcycles?" Cloud asked.
"Close, but no." Sakurai said, "It has to do with go karts!"
"Go karts?" Link said.
"That's right." Sakurai said, "Each of you is going to spend the day building your own go karts with stuff you can find from the junkyard. Later today, you'll each be racing those karts on a specially designed race track made by yours truly. The winner of the race will earn immunity."
Confessional
The confessional opens up with Isabelle.
"I wish Waluigi was here." She said, "He knows his way around go karts. He told me he's won many races with karts he designed."
The confessional then transitions to Little Mac.
CMan, this could be a tough one." Mac said, "I'm no mechanic, and racing around some kind of death trap he created? This is gonna get ugly real fast."
End of Confessional
"I'll be giving you all five hours to make your karts," Sakurai explained, "so use your time wisely. Use anything you'd like to customize your kart."
"Any rules that we should know beforehand?" Samus asked.
"As long as it runs, anything goes." Sakurai said.
"Well, hearing that has got me worried." Link said.
"No time to be worried. Your time starts now!" Sakurai said.
They all start heading to the junkyard.
Confessional
The confessional opens up with Marth.
"Gotta admit," Marth said, "this challenge could be a fun one. I'll make a kart that will win this race, and you can take that to the bank. Now that I used the immunity statue, it's time to really give my best. The end is getting closer and closer, and now only the ones that aren't as stupid remain."
The confessional then transitions to Captain Falcon.
"I'm already a top notch racer!" He said, "Whatever kind of track he's got, I'm not scared. I am worried about Marth. The fact that he said anything goes means Marth will not hesitate to pull some punches."
End of Confessional
Eventually they all get there, split up, and start looking for parts.
"Alright." Falcon said, "Let's see what we're working with. I think I'll try to make it look my Blue Falcon. I feel comfortable riding in that."
He starts looking around and finds an engine and some boosters.
"I'm impressed with the stuff he leaves in this place." Falcon said, "Now let's get to work!"
We then move to Ryu who is starting to work on his kart when Mac comes up to him.
"Hey, Ryu." Mac said, "How are things going?"
"Oh, Mac." Ryu said, "I am doing fine. Thank you for asking."
Confessional
The confessional opens up with Little Mac.
"Okay. Time to see if he'll join us." Mac said.
End of Confessional
"Awesome." Mac said, "Looks like your kart is coming along nicely."
"I sense that you are here for more than to compliment me." Ryu said.
"Okay, you got me." Mac said, "I'll cut to the chase. I need your help with something."
"And that is?" Ryu asked.
"Would you like to help some of us with trying to eliminate Marth?" Mac asked "I feel if we all work together, we can stop his reign of terror."
"I see...who else is a part of this?" Ryu asked.
"Me, Samus, Cap, and Isabelle." Mac said, "If he says yes, hopefully Link, too."
"Okay." Ryu said, "Count me in. But what about if we do succeed? What do we do from then on?"
"Well...I guess we'll go our separate ways." Mac said, "I'm not sure yet."
"I see you're uncertain about that," Ryu said, "but for now, you have my assistance."
"Awesome!" Mac said, "Glad talking to you!"
He then runs off to continue working on his kart.
Confessional
The confessional opens up with Little Mac.
"Well, that was easier than I thought." He said.
The confessional then transitions to Ryu.
"Well, this is surely an interesting development. I will make sure to help them out as much as I can." Ryu said.
End of Confessional
We then move to Link working on his kart, when Isabelle goes up to him.
"Hello, Link." Isabelle said.
"Hm? Oh, it's just you. What's up?" Link asked.
"Well...some of us are working to try to-"
"Get rid of Marth?" Link concluded.
"How'd you know I was gonna say that?" She asked.
"I figured some of you were working together to do that," he said, "and I assumed you were coming to ask for my help as well."
"Okay, you saw right through me." She said, "So is that a yes?"
"Sure." Link said, "But I'll only help until we get him out. After that, you guys are on your own. Deal?"
"Deal." She said, "Thank you so much."
She then leaves him to continue working.
Confessional
The confessional opens up with Isabelle.
"Wow, I didn't think it was gonna be that easy. I have a feeling that this will all go well." She said.
The confessional then transitions to Link.
"At this point," Link said, "everyone's getting desperate to eliminate the the biggest threat here. I'll be glad to help them, but only until we succeed. When that's done, I'll go back to working alone."
End of Confessional
We move to Marth who is hard at work. He's outfitting his kart with all kinds of dangerous accessories. Rocket boosters, caltrops, a fist that pops out, and many more surprises.
"Honestly, where does he get all this stuff?" He asked himself, "One man's trash is another man's ticket to one hundred thousand dollars. Now, let's see if we can add many more "surprises" to it."
We then move to Cloud and his kart that he's working on.
"I need this to be as good as it can possibly be." Cloud thought to himself, "I need to start working on winning some challenges. That's all that matters at this point.
He's working on getting the wheels on, and one of them falls off.
"Arrgh!" Cloud shouts in frustration, "This is harder than I thought!"
Confessional
The confessional opens up with Cloud.
"All this stress and anxiety is getting to me." He said, "I feel so alone. I don't know what to do. This challenge is frustrating me. Marth now has ruined everything for me. He took away my trust, most of my former team, and the woman I love. I've lost practically everything. I can't give up. But nothing has been going well. What do I do?"
End of Confessional
"C'mon, you stupid wheel!" He cried, "Go back on."
He tried, but that one wheel wouldn't go back on, no matter how hard he tried to reattach it.
CAnd now I've lost a wheel." He said to himself, "Maybe I'll go with three wheels. I can't fix it, so I'll just have to make do with this."
We then move to Mac who's now started working on his kart, when Samus comes up to him.
"Hey cutie." She said, "Everything going well?"
"Yeah." He said, "Wait, shouldn't you be working on your kart?"
"I got done with it." She said, "It's not as hard as I thought it would be, so I was coming to check on you. How'd it go with Ryu?"
"He's in." Mac said, "Didn't take much to convince him."
"Good." She said.
"Say...do you think you could give me some pointers on doing this?" Mac asked, "I know nothing about this kind of stuff."
"Sure." Samus said, "But first...don't you think you need an engine?"
"Wait, THAT'S WHAT I WAS MISSING?" He said, "I'M SUCH AN IDIOT!"
"Calm down." She said, "Other than that, you're doing great."
"Oh. Sorry. Thanks for the info."
"Anytime." She said, "You know...you look cute when you're flustered like that."
"Sometimes, you're terrible." Mac joked.
Then the two of them start laughing.
"Well, I'll leave you to continue working." She said, "See you at the race."
"Yeah. Same here."
They both share a quick kiss and Samus leaves.
"Okay...now where do I find an engine?" Mac asked himself.
Suddenly, something falls and hits him on his head.
"Ow! Can't I go one day without getting-"
He stops what he's saying when he sees it was an engine that hit him.
Confessional
The confessional opens up with Little Mac.
"The world works in strange ways sometimes." He said.
End of Confessional
Everyone continues working until they hear Sakurai's voice over the loudspeaker.
"All right, everyone!" He said, "Bring your karts down to the beach, because it is time to kick it into high gear!"
Confessional
The confessional opens up with Captain Falcon.
"Well, here we go." He said, "Being the only one here with real racing experience, I feel I got the advantage. Is it weird that I'm actually excited for this?"
The confessional then transitions to Marth.
"Time to send these losers back to drivers ed." He said.
End of Confessional
After the announcement, everyone brings their karts to the beach like Sakurai had said.
"Nice kart, cream puff!" Marth said.
Marth's kart was blue and slim, with spiked wheels, a hammer sticking out, and more traps that he has yet to show. He was insulting Isabelle, as her kart was fairly small, yellow and green, with a flag adorned on it.
"Well, at least mine has a radio." Isabelle said.
She hits a button and music starts playing.
"Hey, Mac!" Falcon said, "Your kart looks pretty cool!"
Mac's kart looked mostly black, with green streaks painted on.
"That's nice of you," Mac said, "but your's looks professionally done."
Cap's kart looked a lot his Blue Falcon, down to the last detail.
"Everyone else's karts look very good." Cloud said, "Mine on the other hand…"
He looked at his own kart with worry. His was mostly white and had the three wheels. One is in the front, and the other two are in the back.
"Do not doubt yourself." Ryu told him, "Your's has a very unique feel to it that you should feel proud of."
Ryu's kart was red and black, and very simple, with nothing else really added to it.
"Okay, save the trash talking for when you start driving." Sakurai said, "If you'll all pay attention, this track goes across the entire island."
"So what's the catch?" Samus asked.
"You know me so well." Sakurai said mischievously, "If you must know, along the track there are several kinds of traps and surprises, including, but not limited to, oil slicks, land mines, piranhas, electric eels, and special items you can use. You just gotta go around the island, and come back here to finish."
"What do you mean by "special items?" Link asked.
"Along the way," Sakurai explained, "there will be items you can pick up and use on your opponents. Just a little thing I added to add to the enter-pain-ment!"
"So it's just like stuff you'd find in Mario Kart?" Isabelle asked.
"Pretty much, but there are some items that you would never see in those games." Sakurai said.
Confessional
The confessional opens up with Little Mac.
"What is his problem?" He said, "Is he trying to kill us? This is crazy, even for him!"
End of Confessional
"I know this all seems intense," Sakurai said to the camera, "but you'll just have to see what happens after the break."
Commercial Break
"Welcome back." Sakurai said, "Now, I assume everyone is ready?"
Everyone brings their karts to the starting line. Sakurai then holds up a checkered flag.
"Everybody on your marks…"
Engines start to roar.
"Get set…"
More engine roars.
"GO!" Sakurai yelled.
Everyone is then off like a bullet, and the race begins. Everything is going smoothly until they all see item boxes and try to go for them. Marth gets one and the item turns out to be a banana peel. He then throws it behind him and everyone manages to avoid it.
"Tch. Cheeky little rats, I see." Marth said.
Confessional
The confessional opens up with Captain Falcon.
"Does he think we're stupid enough to drive over that? Hah! Think again." Falcon said.
The confessional then transitions to Marth.
"I figure I should now show them that I have more up my sleeve than that." He said.
End of Confessional
He then hits a button, and the hammer on his kart starts swinging up and down. It's close to hitting Ryu, and he's swerving to avoid getting smashed by it.
"I should have known you'd resort to tricks like this!" Ryu said.
While that's happening, Isabelle manages to drive right past them.
"Ugh!" Marth said, "That cheery little cream puff!"
Isabelle hits an item box and gets what appears to be a fireball, and throws it behind her. The fireball hits Marth's kart, and he starts spinning around, with the others getting past him, now putting him in last place.
"C'mon," Marth said, "I haven't shown them everything."
He hits a button, and his kart starts to get a boost, causing him to catch up to at least some of them.
They all come up across their first real obstacle, which is a ramp over a pool of piranhas, with item boxes atop the ramp. Most of them manage to get over it unharmed, but when Mac gets over it, he has several piranhas biting all over him. Mac screams out in agony.
He tries flailing his body around to shake them off, and gets them off, and us us the item that he got, which was a turtle shell, which is now bouncing around until it actually bounces back and hits him in the head.
"I just can't get a break today." Mac said.
We move to Cloud, and he hits an item box that turns out to be a bazooka.
Confessional
The confessional opens up with Cloud.
CWhy does he have one of those as a usable item?" He said, "I don't want anyone to die."
End of Confessional
Cloud was hesitating, but he decided to drop the bazooka and keep going. The one who turns out to be in the lead right now is Captain Falcon, but Marth and Isabelle are catching up on him. He then sees an item box.
"Come on, give me something good." Falcon said hopefully.
He then got a machine that generates shockwaves around him.
"Aw yeah!" He said.
He uses it, and it hits only Marth, causing him to lose balance and concentration.
"If you wanna play that way, fine!" Marth yelled.
He hits a button and caltrops spill out from behind his kart. Link drives over them, and his tires go flat.
"Oh, that is just low." Link said.
Marth then catches up to Cap, and rams his kart into his, causing him to swerve out of control. Samus and Mac catch up to him.
They are coming close to the end, but up and head they see oil slicks, minefields, and more piranhas, with the water now electrified.
They hit item boxes, and Marth gets a bob-omb. Samus is swerving from the oil, and Marth takes aim at Samus, ready to throw.
"You've had this coming for a long time!" Marth yelled.
Mac sees this and panics.
"DON'T YOU DARE HURT HER!" Mac cried out.
He zooms up in between them as Marth throws the bomb, and as if it were in slow motion, it hits Mac and blows up.
"Thank y-" Samus started to say.
She then sees Mac's kart is spinning in all directions andllnd is falling apart. His kart then blows up, flinging into the minefield, getting launched by land mine after land mine until he falls into the electrified piranha water, getting zapped and bitten, then a piece of his kart falls in there and blows him away, and he crashes right close to the finish line.
"Serves him right!" Marth said.
Marth was getting close to the end, but it was down to him and Cloud. Marth drives over Mac like a speed bumb, and that throws him off, causing Cloud to cross the finish line first.
"And Cloud has won the race, which means immunity is his!" Sakurai announced.
"Damn it!" Marth said, "That dumb boxer messed me up!"
Everyone immediately gets out of their karts and runs over to Mac, and he's looking really mangled up.
"Buddy!" Falcon said, freaking out, "Speak to me!"
"Oh god, Mac, please be okay!" Samus cried out, "You gotta be okay!"
Isabelle then pulls out a first aid kit and takes takes a look at him.
"This isn't gonna be enough!" She said, "It looks like he's got many broken bones, and lost a lot of blood!"
Sakurai walks over, and takes a look at him, and looks away shocked at Mac's condition.
"Well, this isn't good!" Sakurai said, "He needs major medical treatment immediately!"
Master Hand is there and brings out a stretcher, putting Mac on it.
"Before we continue with anything," Sakurai told them, "we gotta take a look at him and see if he'll be okay."
Samus walks up to Sakurai.
"Why would you make a challenge like this?!" She yelled at him, "He could probably die! You're just sick and twisted!"
"Relax," he said, "we'll do our best to make sure he's up and punching."
They then haul him off to the medical tent.
Confessional
The confessional opens up with Samus crying.
"This is terrible!" She said, "Mac is now in critical condition because he was trying to save me! At this point, I just want him to survive this! Marth will surely pay for this one!c
The confessional then transitions to Marth.
"Looks like he bit off more than he could chew." He said, "I know you think I'm some sort of monster for not caring about how he's doing, but so what? I don't need you people watching this to like me! In fact, I love the hate! I got a kingdom back home and a princess of my own. Winning and the money are what's important to me. Looks like karma is catching up to him for betraying me! Karma can be a cruel bitch sometimes."
End of Confessional
Everyone is waiting outside the cabins, most of them worried about Mac.
"I hope he's okay." Isabelle said.
"I honestly feel bad that this was the reason I won." Cloud said.
"It wasn't your fault." Samus said, "He risked a lot trying to save me. I'd probably be in his position right now. I hope he pulls through."
"I'm worried too," Falcon said, "but I think he will. I know for sure he's made of tough stuff."
"Yeah, but this was a particularly dangerous situation." Samus said.
"No matter what happens, we just gotta have hope." Isabelle said.
"Yeah." Link said.
They then see Sakurai and Master Hand with Mac, being brought to them in a wheelchair. A lot of his body is bandaged up, and one of his arms is in a sling. Everyone then runs up to him.
"Mac! I'm so glad you're alive!" Samus said.
"How are feeling?" Ryu asked.
"Well, I'm not dead," Mac said, "so that's the only good thing I'm getting from this."
"Sorry to cut this short," Sakurai said, "but I got some good news, and I got some bad news."
"What is it?" Falcon asked.
"The good news is," Sakurai explained, "he just needs rest and time to be back at full power. About half of his bones are broken, he's lost a lot of blood, he's got a really bad concussion, and he's still suffering a bit from the electrocution.
"That's the good news?!" Samus said, "What's the bad news, then?"
"See, his recovery is gonna take a while." Sakurai said, cThe way I see it, he's to injured to go any further in the competition.
"What are you saying?" Cloud asked.
"Tonight, Mac is the one who is leaving." Sakurai announced.
"Seriously?" Mac asked.
"Yep. Ain't that a sucky way to go home." Sakurai said.
"No! He can't leave!" Samus said.
Confessional
The confessional opens up with Marth.
"I may have lost the challenge," he said, "but I'm still safe for now. Thanks, Mac. Your pain was my gain."
End of Confessional
Later that evening, everyone is at the docks watching Mac leave, with Master Hand helping him to the boat.
"Mac, do you have any last words for everyone?" Sakurai said.
"Actually, I do." Mac said, "Cap, thanks for being my closest friend here. I'll miss you a lot, man."
"I'm really gonna miss you, bro!" Falcon cried, "First Lucina, and now you?!"
"Don't be like that," Mac said, "you'll do great, man. Ryu, thanks for being a great sparring partner, and all around cool guy."
"Thanks." Ryu said, "And don't you worry! I will make sure to avenge you!"
"Um, but I'm not dead." Mac said.
"My bad." Ryu said.
"Link, Cloud, I'm sorry I don't have much to say to you guys, but thanks for being great competitors."
"No problem." Link said.
"Yeah. You get better." Cloud said.
"Isabelle, thanks for being a positive impact on not just me, but everyone you meet."
"Thank you. Hope you get better quickly." Isabelle said.
"And Samus…"
"Yeah?" She asked.
"Come here. I got a gift for you."
She goes to him and with his decent arm, he pulls out a pink hoodie.
"I what you to have this." He said.
"Your pink hood?" She said, "But you love that thing."
"Yeah," he said, "but I love you more, and I wanted you to have it as a gift."
Samus then quickly puts it on.
"It suits you." He said.
"I love it." She said, "Thank you so much. I'll miss you. And thanks for saving me."
"Hey, I'll take a hit for you any day." He said.
They both then kiss.
"I'm gonna fight for both of us." She said, "Just you wait, I'll kick Marth's ass, you'll see!"
"That's my girl!" He said.
"Time to go, pal." Sakurai said.
"One last thing. Marth?"
"Yeah? What do you want?" Marth said.
Mac then uses that one decent hand to flip him off.
"F*** off."
He's then wheeled onto the boat, and he sails off. Samus is watching the boat sail away, looking very sad.
"It'll be okay." Falcon said "Let's give it our best. For him."
"Yeah."
They all then head back to their cabins.
"Man, that was quite an eventful episode." Sakurai said, "How will everyone do without Mac? Will Marth get lucky and avoid elimination again? And what kind of challenge will our remaining seven endure next? Find out on the next exciting episode of Super...Smash...Island!"
