Author's Note: Hello there! Just wanna once again say thank you to all of my readers and of course for all the reviews, comments, favorites, following, all of that wonderful stuff. Thank you so much! I love getting feedback on my writing and I'm so glad you're all enjoying this story. I also wanted to say before we headed into this chapter that first of all, I made it really long for you guys to make up for the long wait in between chapters so I hope you're excited about that! Second of all, I just wanted to say that this chapter is very similar to how things play out in Episode 7 of LOK. Of course, the whole fanfiction is based on what happens in LOK but since this is a High School AU, I've really tried to incorporate elements of that in most if not all of my chapters so far. But this chapter is probably the first one where almost none of the high school aspect is in it. But fear not! This is only temporary as this is mainly a transitional chapter as we cover everything going with Asami and her Dad and all that fun stuff we'll get into. The high school elements will return later, we just gotta get through this part of the story that we're all familiar with. I just wanted to give a heads up. I hope you all enjoy today's chapter! And once again, thank you so much for reading!

Mako heard the door shut and Asami's heels walk across the floor as one young woman came in as the other had left. Asami immediately gasped as she saw her boyfriend's face.

"Sweetie your forehead!", she exclaimed.

Mako looked at her completely confused.

"Huh?", he asked.

Asami pulled a tissue out of her purse as she took Korra's now empty seat in front of the firebender. She started blotting his forehead.

"You got a cut, you didn't feel anything?", she asked.

"I'm just starting to come down from all the adrenaline.", he chuckled.

Her soft hands cradled his face after she blotted off the small amount of blood. She stared into the eyes of the exhausted firebender.

"I'm so sorry about the attic. Bo and I got out everything that was still intact.", she said somberly.

"Thank you. Are you alright? You're not hurt or anything right?", he asked.

"I'm ok. Just a little shaken up is all.", she replied.

Mako sighed and stared at the floor.

"I'm sorry I brought you here, I put you and your father in harm's way.", he apologized.

Asami gently grabbed his chin to face him towards her.

"Mako we're fine. Besides, there's no way you could have known this was going to happen.", Asami assured him.

She leaned forward and briefly kissed him before she continued to blot his forehead.

"Where is your father anyway?", Mako asked.

"Down in the car waiting for us. So is Bo and Pabu.", she told him.

His eyes narrowed at her in confusion as she took the tissue away from his cut.

"Why are they in the car with him?", he asked.

"Mako, you silly thing I'm not going to let you or Bo and Pabu sleep on the street. In fact, I refuse to let you.", she giggled.

He smiled as the young Sato heiress kissed his forehead, right below his cut.

"Asami I could never ask that from you and your father.", he told her.

"It's ok, I want you to be safe and warm.", she said with a smile.

This time he was the one to lean forward and kiss her.

"Thank you.", he said before they gathered the last of his things.

After Korra had stormed out of the locker room, she was escorted by Chief Beifong's officers back to Air Temple Island to ensure her safety.

Feeling defeated by both the match and by Mako, she collapsed on her bed as soon as she got to her room. Naga licked her face to greet her before she curled up next to Korra's bed. But right after she began to pet the polar bear dog's head, Korra felt her phone vibrate. She answered the call.

"Hello?", she greeted.

"Korra!", Bolin cheered. "You're not gonna believe this. Mako and I just moved into Asami's mansion and it's fucking huge! We get our own bedrooms, there's food brought to us whenever we want, it's heaven!"

Korra chuckled as Bolin went on and on about the Sato estate.

"That's great Bo. You deserve it. But why did you call me to tell me about it?", Korra asked.

"Well, Mako said I should call you to tell you that we're safe. He said you ran out before he could have the chance to tell you.", Bolin told her.

"Oh. So he couldn't have called me to tell me himself?", she asked.

"I don't know. He's weird sometimes. Anyways, Asami wanted me to tell you you're invited to hang out with us tomorrow if you want! You should come, this place is really great.", he told her.

"Thanks but after tonight with all the lovely action I had with the equalists and Amon I don't think I'll exactly be allowed to hang out with anyone for a long time.", she explained.

"Oh come on Korra, you can't sneak out for just one night?", he teased.

"Bo, I'm serious. I could have had us all killed or have our bending taken away tonight.", she urged him.

"Yeah but you're the Avatar!", he cheered. "That's not really-"

"I think it's just best if I stay away for a little while. All I do is cause chaos and pain for the two of you.", she told him.

Bolin was silent for a little bit.

"You don't cause me pain Korra. I mean yeah it sucked to see you and Mako well...you know but I got over it. And I don't know what's going on between you two but I don't think you cause him pain, he's been talking about you the whole night since we got here.", he responded.

"He...he has?", Korra asked.

"Yeah. It's been 'Korra would love this. Korra would love that. I hope Korra's doing ok.' I don't know how Asami puts up with it. It's getting on my nerves.", he vented.

She only became more confused.

"Well I can't speak for that but I know I have to keep all of us, including myself safe so I highly doubt I could leave the island even if I wanted to.", she responded.

"Just think about it ok? I think you'd really like it here.", he said. "Just tell us if you change your mind."

Korra looked over at Naga who was tilting her head at her as they read each other's thoughts. Korra smiled before she spoke again.

"I may have a way. Does Asami have room for a polar bear dog?", she asked.

"Uh...why?", Bolin asked back.

Mako had never seen such nice things up close and personal in his whole life. Everywhere he went the rooms got nicer and nicer.

"I'm very glad you boys have made yourself at home.", Mr. Sato said to Mako and Asami as he escorted them through the Sato estate.

"Thank you for everything Mr. Sato sir, you've been more than generous to us.", Mako thanked him.

"Don't mention it, I know what it's like to be in your shoes. I started as a young man on the streets as well. Tough times make a tough man.", Mr. Sato told him as he stopped and patted Mako's shoulder.

Asami smiled as Mako appreciated the gesture.

"Well, I think that's enough for the tour for one night. I think I'll head to bed. I suggest you two do the same.", Mr. Sato told them.

"Ok dad, get plenty of sleep.", Asami said before he headed off down the hall to his own bedroom.

Once it was just the two of them, Mako turned to the Sato heiress who was gleaming up at him.

"So where's my room?", he innocently asked.

Asami chucked before she gently grabbed his hand and lead him to a nearby door. She opened it and Mako was astonished by the beauty of it. Everything was a dark scarlet red, the room smelled like her perfume, and her bed was massive.

"Wow...", he trailed off.

Asami closed the door behind them and faced her boyfriend.

"Much better than sleeping in an attic, right?", she asked him.

"Well I can't argue with that.", he laughed.

The ebony-haired beauty smiled up at him before she pulled him down for a kiss. His eyes shut as the feeling of her lipstick met his mouth. Her perfectly manicured nails grazing down his shoulders over his trenchcoat. Before he knew it their hands were roaming all over each other. She pulled the young firebender over to her bed and laid him on his back. He stared up at the Sato heiress as she began to unbutton her top while she straddled him. With each button that came undone, he got a glimpse of the lacey black bra that cradled her smooth pale breasts. He gripped onto her thighs as she tossed her top to the side. She leaned back down over the firebender to kiss him again, but as he gripped onto her back, Mako's mind went right back to the night Korra and he had their altercation in the gym.

Instead of thinking of the beautiful girl on top of him, Mako began to remember how after he and Korra had yelled their lungs out at each other in emotional turmoil, that Korra had the guts to march right over and kiss him once again. Their hands all over each other, her nails digging into his scalp, their teeth on each other's necks, Korra's quiet moans in his ear, her hands between his legs over his pants. To then he was brought back to reality once the Sato heiress began to unbuckle his pants.

"Wait, Asami please.", he said, ceasing her actions.

Asami stared down at the firebender, her hands on his belt, his face all flushed.

"Is something wrong?", she asked, her face growing with concern.

"I...I just wanna wait for the right time. We haven't been dating for that long, I wanna keep taking things slow.", Mako said, gently rubbing her leg.

Asami relaxed and leaned back down to kiss him again, her black curls falling over him.

"Sweetie, have you ever been with a woman before?", Asami whispered.

"Well no, but I still wanna wait. Let's just take our time, ok?", he whispered back.

Asami pecked his forehead before she rose up from his neck.

"Alright, I understand sweetie. But I hope you'll at least still wanna sleep in my room tonight.", she said with a smile.

Mako chuckled before he sat up and held her close on his lap.

"Of course.", he answered before he kissed her again.

The next morning, Korra had to time everything perfectly but she was able to have her and Naga sneak off of Air Temple Island by waterbending them underwater off of the island to the bay of Republic City. It wasn't too hard for her to find the Sato Estate as it was the largest property in the whole city.

She was greeted by guards and escorted with Naga to the front of the estate, where Mako, Bolin, and Asami were waiting for her.

"Wow!", Asami exclaimed. "You weren't kidding when you said 'Room for a Polar Bear Dog'"

Bolin laughed as Korra got off of Naga.

"Anywhere she could stay for a while?", Korra asked Asami.

"Of course! We have a whole backyard back here she can have all to herself.", Asami told her.

At the very words of a backyard, Naga ran off to see it for herself. They all chuckled as Korra began to walk after her. The rest of them followed. As soon as Korra came to the back of the property, she saw not only a huge backyard but a huge speedway as well.

"Holy shit...", Korra gasped.

"Isn't it great!", Bolin exclaimed.

"It's...it's huge!", Korra thought out loud.

"Wanna go for a spin?", Asami offered.

Korra turned to the girl who was handing her a helmet. She couldn't help but smile as she took it from and placed it on her head.

Asami and Korra went around the track a few times while Mako and Bolin cheered them on. Finally, after getting the wind all caught up in their hair, Asami pulled off to the side.

"That was so fucking awesome!", Korra cheered as they got out of the Sato mobile.

"Thanks, I haven't done that in a while. It felt good to let someone else experience it.", Asami said.

"Why haven't you done it in a while?", Korra asked.

Asami sighed as she fixed her hair and brushed the dirt off her outfit.

"I used to do this with my dad all the time but as of recently, he's been super busy working on a secret project for Sato Industries. It must be something big because he hasn't let me see any of it. I just don't like being out here all by myself.", Asami explained.

"Oh...I'm sorry.", Korra responded.

"It's ok. I just don't like being by myself since my mom died. Since then it's always been me and my dad and now I don't know what's up with him. But I'm glad you decided to come today! Mako kept talking about how much you would love this place, and looks like he was right.", Asami mentioned.

"Oh...that's nice of him I guess.", Korra said, trying not to blush.

Asami giggled a little as she saw Korra trying to contain herself.

"By the way, don't feel bad for having a crush on him. He's pretty cute isn't he?", Asami laughed.

Korra was full on blushing at Asami's words.

"I-uh-I-", Korra stuttered.

"Really, it's ok. I'm glad you guys are still being friends though all this. Friends are really important.", Asami stated.

"You think maybe we could be friends? I didn't have friends growing up.", Korra admitted.

"I don't see why not.", Asami said, before guiding Korra out of the speedway.

The rest of the day was filled with the four of them playing games, laughing, and having fun together like children. Finally, Mako and Korra could spend time together without any awkwardness between them, without having to worry about a tournament or equalists. They had gotten themselves tangled up in a game of hid and go seek. While Korra was running around trying to find a place to hide, she came across a set of double doors. She peeked through the keyhole to see if the space was somewhere she could hide. But instead of empty space, she saw an office. And behind a desk in his chair, was Hiroshi Sato on the phone speaking to someone.

"Yes of course. Don't worry, everything is coming along perfectly Amon.", he spoke.

Korra's eyes widened and a shiver went down her spine at the name of the equalists' leader being mentioned.

"Don't worry, by the end of the week we'll be ready to strike.", Hiroshi said before he hung up the phone.

Korra stepped away from the door and ran off back to where they all started. Quickly, she found Naga, and went right back to Air Temple Island. At first, Tenzin was furious with her for sneaking off of the island. But once she shared the information she heard, his anger was put aside.

After Korra had disappeared, the three others had wondered where she went. Mako texted Korra to check up on her.

Mako: Hey, are you alright? Did you bail?

Korra: Yeah I'm fine. Had to sneak back before they noticed I was gone, you know?

Mako: You sure? I just wanted to make sure you weren't uncomfortable.

Korra: No everything was great! I had a good time.

Mako: Ok, let me know if you need anything.

Unaware of what was to come, the next morning Chief Beifong and Tenzin came to the Sato Estate to search for any evidence to Korra's claims. Korra arrived with them, and Mako and Asami were stunned.

"Hey, what's going on? Why are Tenzin and Chief Beifong here?", Mako asked.

"I'm sorry...Asami I heard your dad on the phone yesterday. I think he might be an equalist.", Korra explained.

"What?!", Asami exclaimed. "Are you delusional?"

"I'm sorry I know what I heard. He said he had something in the works for Amon.", Korra continued to tell her.

"I don't believe this. I thought we were just starting to become friends.", Asami scoffed before she went in the same direction as the Chief and the Airbender.

Mako turned to Korra, he couldn't believe what had just come out of her mouth.

"Really? This is how far you're going?", Mako asked.

"What are you talking about?", Korra asked back.

"You hate my girlfriend so much you're gonna make up some crazy story about her dad being an equalist?", Mako accused her. "Is that why you left early yesterday?"

"Mako, first of all, I don't hate her. She's very kind. Which is why I hate to do this but second of all, I know what I heard. If I didn't then I wouldn't have brought it up. I'm trying to do my job. I have to protect the city. Will you please trust me?", she asked him.

Mako sighed and just walked off after Asami. Eventually, Korra followed.

As Korra entered Hiroshi's office, she had also welcomed herself midway into Asami defending her father.

"My father is not a criminal! This is outrageous!", she exclaimed at Chief Beifong.

"Sweetie it's alright. I have nothing to hide, feel free to search all around my study. Every nook and cranny.", Hiroshi stated.

Chief Beifong and Tenzin did so but found nothing.

"What about your warehouses? You said you had things coming along perfectly and that by the end of the week you'd be ready to strike.", Korra interjected.

"Korra, do you even hear yourself right now?", Mako asked her.

"I was referring to the launch of my secret project which is a new model of the Sato Mobile, but you are more than welcome to look into all of Future Industries' warehouses if you wish.", Hiroshi told them.

And with that, Chief Beifong had all of her officers search and flip through every little tiny thing through all of the warehouses. But absolutely nothing was found to convict Hiroshi.

"That's the last one Chief. Not a thing to be suspicious about.", an officer said to Beifong.

Asami, Mako, and Korra had been standing to the side waiting for them to be done with their search. After overhearing the officer, Mako turned to Korra.

"See? You could have just saved everyone time by not spreading around your little theory and making him out to be-", he started.

"Mako just shut the fuck up already.", Korra sighed out of frustration.

Mako's eyes furrowed at her and Asami couldn't believe had shut him down just like that.

"Can I please speak to you privately?", Mako asked.

Korra rolled her eyes and walked off to the side with the firebender.

"What's your problem? Why are you doing this?", he asked.

"I'm telling you he was talking with Amon! Why don't you trust me?", she retorted.

"Is this because I moved in with Asami? Are you still hung up on all this?", he asked.

She was taken aback by his statement and looked off towards the warehouses.

"Don't be ridiculous, that has nothing to do with this.", she said to him.

"Korra listen, I'm trying to make this friendship work with you but I can't if you're going to keep being a child about all this.", he told her.

"OH, I'm being the child? I'm the one who's trying to think about all of your safety here, while you've all been laying around her mansion without a care in the world!", she exclaimed.

"Alright, you know what, either you drop this or consider our friendship over. I'm done with this.", Mako told her sternly.

Mako walked off with Asami and she just shook her head. She was tired of this back and forth game with him. But she knew what she heard. She knew her gut something wasn't right.

"Korra, are you absolutely sure you heard Hiroshi-", Tenzin started.

"Yes! I'm positive.", Korra interrupted.

"Well we've searched everywhere we could think of. Where else could he hide any weapons for equalists?", Chief Beifong thought out loud.

Then, a thought occurred to Korra. The Sato estate was huge. It even had enough room for a polar bear dog to run around and play.

"Maybe we've been looking in the wrong place.", Korra thought out loud.

Tenzin and Chief Beifong looked at her in a funny way before a man approached the three of them.

"You have been.", he said. "I work in the warehouses, I agreed to help Mr. Sato and Amon because he promised us a better life. Not a war."

"I knew it!", Korra exclaimed.

The man shushed her and looked over his shoulder.

"I'm trying to not get my ass handed to me by the boss. But look, there is only one place he could hide those weapons that are so big and out of sight.", the man said.

"Where?", Korra asked.

"A secret factory, right underneath the Sato factory.", he told her.

While a random man's word wasn't much to go off of, Chief Beifong and Tenzin thought it was worth it to have at least one more look at the Sato estate. As they traveled to the mansion for what Korra assumed would be the last time, she decided to give Mako one more call. It had only been a few hours, but she wanted to make things right. She was sent right to voicemail.

"Hi...I'm sorry I'm sure you don't wanna talk to me right now. I wanna apologize for making such a ruckus about all this. But I'm doing it because Asami is such a nice girl, and I would hate for her or you and Bo to be in danger without knowing it. And...I'm the Avatar. My duty is to the people around me as well. I don't think I'm wrong but for her sake...and yours...I hope I am. We're on our way back now, not that I think you'll actually listen to this but I just wanted to tell you so you're not caught off guard. I don't hate her...I hope you don't hate me. I'm just trying to do what's right...bye."

As she hung up the phone, they arrived once more at the Sato estate.

Inside the mansion, Mako hadn't even noticed Korra had called until he noticed a notification for a new voicemail as his phone lit up on Asami's glass coffee table.

"Let me guess, Korra?", Asami asked.

Mako sighed and turned his phone screen over. He leaned back into the couch he and Asami were sitting on. Meanwhile, Bolin was off in the corner listening to an old jazz record with Pabu.

"Let's not have her ruin our night ok? She's put you through enough for one day.", Mako groaned.

"I just wanna know why she would lie about that. I thought we were becoming friends.", Asami vented.

"You know, maybe she wanted to take you on a scavenger hunt.", Bolin suggested.

"I highly doubt that's what she wanted to do Bo.", Mako said, rolling his eyes.

And with that, metalbenders forced the doors open and Chief Beifong entered ahead of Tenzin and Korra.

"What are doing here? You searched here already. What else do you want?", Asami asked.

"We have reason to believe there's a secret factory under the mansion.", Chief Beifong told her.

"I think I would know if there was a factory underneath my house! Korra how many more lies are you going to feed these people?", Asami asked.

"Where is your father?", Chief Beifong asked.

"In his workshop, behind the house.", Asami answered.

They all headed out to the workshop. The metalbenders scoped the small shop, but Hiroshi was nowhere to be found.

"Dad? Are you in here?", Asami called out but received no answer.

"The windows and the doors are intact Chief. He must have made a clean leave.", an officer said to Chief Beifong.

"Perhaps we just couldn't see him leave.", Beifong said before she used her feet to scan the area. "There's an underground tunnel, leading into the mountainside."

"What?", Asami asked in a confused tone. "There's no tunnel."

Beifong bent the metal up from the floor to reveal the metal stairway leading to the tunnel. Everyone, including Asami, stared in shock.

"Uh...do you think your dad knows about this tunnel?", Bolin asked.

"I-I don't understand...", Asami stuttered.

"I'm sorry Asami. Maybe you don't know everything about your father.", Korra said, her chest feeling heavy. For once, she wasn't happy she was right.

Mako stared over at the two girls, and he immediately felt horrible for not believing Korra sooner. But he didn't want to believe such a kind man who had opened up his home to him and his brother. But the evidence in front of them was undeniable.

Chief beifong ordered her officers, Tenzin, and Korra to follow her down into the tunnel. But she had one officer stay back to watch Bolin, Asami, and Mako. As Korra began to walk down into the tunnel, she took a glimpse back at the firebender. His eyes were heavy and filled with regret.

Some time had gone by, and the three teenagers began to wonder what exactly was occurring beneath the surface of the workshop. And finally, they heard a loud noise and felt the ground shake a little.

"Oh no...", Asami thought out loud.

"We need to get down there and see what's going on!", Mako exclaimed.

"Not so fast," The officer said to them. "You're staying put until the Chief comes back."

Mako and Bolin looked and nodded to each other. And before he knew it, the officer found himself tied up in the workshop.

Bolin began to head down into the tunnel, and as Mako started so did Asami. But he turned to stop her.

"Asami no, you shouldn't.", Mako told her, gently grabbing her shoulders.

"I have to find out the truth about my dad. If he's been lying to me I have to know.", she reasoned with him.

"Please, I can find out for you. You don't know what's down there, you could get hurt.", he retorted.

"So could you.", she pointed out.

Mako sighed and looked to the floor for a bit before his eyes returned to the pale girl.

"Please, for me. I'll be less worried about you if you're up here and out of danger.", he said.

Asami looked down into the tunnel entrance, and then back at her boyfriend.

"Alright...", she murmured. "But be careful."

Mako and Bolin crept into the underground factory and were shocked to see not only Amon posters in every direction they looked but equalists were tying up metalbender officers that had been knocked out and placing them into a truck. The more they looked around, they also saw that Tenzin, Beifong, and Korra also laid on the floor lifeless. Mako felt his stomach sink.

"We gotta do something, quick.", Mako whispered to his brother.

The brothers sneaked over to the three of them. Mako immediately went to Korra and grabbed her gently before he put her over his shoulders, her head next to his. Bolin had done the same for Tenzin and as the two boys grabbed Beifong they saw the blue light of the equalists gloves lighting up.

"Not so fast boys.", Hiroshi said as he and another equalists cornered them.

Bolin and Mako scowled at the man. But Mako had his own kind of anger for Hiroshi.

"Supporting our team, supporting the Avatar...it was just all a big cover-up. Not just for the city, but for your own daughter. What kind of father does that?", Mako asked, gripping onto Korra.

"My daughter doesn't deserve to be oppressed by horrible firebenders like yourself. She could do far better than prancing around with a street rat like you!", Hiroshi said viciously as he lit up his glove and got closer to the boys.

A fire was burning in Mako, and he was about to let out to defend them against the inventor before something stopped him.

"Dad! Stop!", Asami shouted sternly, making her father turn to face him.

The two made eye contact for a moment. Asami couldn't believe what she was witnessing.

"Why?", she asked, sadness dripping in her voice.

"Sweetie...these benders...". Hiroshi started. "All they do is take. They took away your mother, the love of my life! The ruined our world! And with Amon we can fix it, we can make things the way they were always meant to be. We can do it together!"

Asami stared at him in disbelief, but the man took off his glove and handed it towards his daughter.

"Join me Asami.", he urged, a smile on his face.

Korra had started to regain consciousness and saw what was happening before her. Mako watched as his girlfriend slowly walked forward, and not only took the glove but placed it on her hand.

"No...", he murmured.

Asami looked up at her father, who now looked at her with pride in his eyes. She took a deep breath and said the last words she'd say to her father for a while.

"I love you Dad."

And with that, she used the glove to shock her father, and his assistant. The shock of what had just happened was enough to bring Korra back to full consciousness. They didn't have much time to absorb what had just happened, as they all had to escape before the equalists kidnapped all of them.

After escaping the mansion, they all began to fly off to Air Temple Island in the police airship. Asami stared down at what used to be her loving home, which was now a place of deception and lies. Mako was letting her have her space as she was still absorbing what exactly had just happened. Korra stood next to him as they soared over the city.

"I'm sorry I didn't believe you.", Mako finally spoke to her. "It's just...I could never imagine such a nice and caring man could be so...I should have listened to you. I'm sorry."

"It's ok.", Korra calmly responded. "I'll admit it's quite shocking but...fuck why did I have to be right. This is horrible."

"At least Asami knows the truth now. But now Amon is going to get those weapons.", Mako said, speaking his thoughts.

"This war just got ten times worse.", Korra muttered.

"So, remember when you said on the boat that there was plenty of rooms on the island if I wanted to stay?", Mako asked.

"Heh, I try not to remember that ride but yes.", Korra answered.

"Try not to remember?", Mako asked.

"Yes I know what you're referring to, and yes, of course, you're welcome to stay there. And so is Asami.", Korra told him.

Mako gave her that signature smirk she loved so much.

"Thank you so much.", he said.

Korra turned to the firebender and looked over his shoulder at the Sato heiress. She couldn't see her face, but she knew tears were traveling down her face.

"Mako, take care of her. After everything she's been through, she's going to need you. Big time.", Korra told him.

Mako grinned before he turned to walk to his girlfriend. He approached her, and the young pale girl went right into his arms and cried into his shoulder. As much as Korra wanted to be in the firebender's arms, she knew Asami needed him more than she did. At least in that moment.
