Hello Everyone, Antonio Ro here.
So I was originally planning on having this out nearly a week ago. The reason for the delay was honestly my bad as Sunday was my birthday. While that in itself isn't that good of a reason for the delay for me. the fact that I had some family members visit me out of nowhere to celebrate it with me caught me off guard, hence the delay. So yeah... my bad.
Anyways. back to the main subject. So for this profile, as mentioned in the last entry, is on Mewtwo from Pokemon: The First Movie-Mewtwo Strikes back. Honestly one of my more favorite movies growing up. That scene with Ash turning to stone and Pikachu trying to revive him, really hits the feels hard, even today. That is some great animation right there.
Anyways, I hope you all enjoy this profile.
Entry 14: Respect Mewtwo(Pokemon: The First Movie), The Strongest Pokemon In The World
Name: Mewtwo(Pokemon: The First Movie)
Home Reality: Pokemon Anime TV Series
First Appeared: Mewtwo(Pokemon: The First Movie), despite the name, first appeared in the Pokemon anime TV series in Pokemon Episode 63, The Battle of the Badges, in which Gym Leader and Leader of Team Rocket, Giovanni used him to defeat Gary Oak in a Pokemon battle. However, it is unknown if this is the same Mewtwo that appears in the anime opening seen as far back as Episode 1. Mewtwo(Pokemon: The First Movie) is an alternate reality counterpart to Mewtwo(Pokemon Game Series) with little changes being made to the original design created by Ken Sugimori.
This version of Mewtwo would later go on to appear in the special "Pokemon: Mewtwo's Return," and the live action movie "Pokemon: Detective Pikachu"
Bio (Lore): Twenty years prior to the start of the Pokemon Anime TV Series. Learning of a potential resting ground for a rare and legendary pokemon known as Mew.
This discovery would prompted the criminal organization known as Team Rocket to fund an expedition into the jungle area of Guyana in South America. To lead this venture, Team Rocket would hired the scientist, Dr. Fuji. The man having caught their attention due to his work in the fields of cloning and genetic manipulation. Despite knowing Team Rocket's criminal roots. Dr. Fuji would accept the job in the hopes of using the funding to further his research in order to revive his deceased daughter, Amber.
Despite not finding Mew. The venture was not in vain as the expedition team was able to recover DNA samples belonging to said pokemon. With these samples on hand. Dr. Fuji would begin working on cloning the sample. Sadly the fruits of his labor wouldn't appear until years later.
At some point during the cloning process. The Mew clone, now dubbed Mewtwo, would become self-aware. Gaining consciousness upon hearing the voice of another within the confines of his own mind. It had turned out that during Mewtwo's creation. Dr. Fuji had managed to recreate his daughter's consciousness and his work on reviving his deceased daughter was showing promise.
This young girl, now dubbed as Amber-Two, despite being created after Mewtwo, had awoken first. Displaying vast mental capabilities in being able to speak telepathically with not only Mewtwo but the other cloned pokemon as well.
Despite still being in creation process. Amber-Two would use this time to speak with Mewtwo and the other pokemon. Dragging their minds into her own in order to play. Occasionally teaching them about the outside world. While originally unsure of how to handle the girl's presence. The time spent between Mewtwo and Amber-Two becoming some of the cloned pokemon's happiest memories as Mewtwo had come to accept Amber-Two as not only a teacher of sorts, but a true friend.
Sadly, things would take a turn for the worst as an unknown complication occurred. Putting each of the clones into a state of decay. The life-support systems unable to stabilize the clones' vitals.
In the real world, upon seeing this, Dr. Fuji would do what he could to save each of the clones' lives. Pushing his body to the utmost limits in order to stay ahead of decay. With every issue he managed to solve. New ones would immediately appear. Despite his best efforts, Nothing seemed to worked.
Within Amber-Two's mindscape. Mewtwo was forced to watch in horror as the creatures he came to call his friends began dying in front of him. Mewtwo would do his best to encourage them to keep fighting, to live, as each one began vanishing from the mindscape one at a time. Signaling their death.
Seeing that her time was near. Amber-Two would encourage Mewtwo to live on. Hoping that the pokemon wouldn't allow this event to sadden him and that he should be happy. With those words, Amber-Two vanish from the world. Leaving Mewtwo all alone.
In the real world, Dr. Fuji was only able to save Mewtwo. Despite knowing that the funding for this project would continue so long as Mewtwo live. The second death of his daughter had hit him hard. Causing Dr. Fuji to throw himself fully into his work.
Years would pass with Mewtwo all alone. Years of isolation had turned the sadness that he felt into festering hatred at the unfairness of the world. Finally unwilling to stay in the darkness of his own mind any longer.
Mewtwo awoke.
Unconsciously using his power upon waking. Mewtwo destroyed the equipment that had been keeping him alive all this time as he opened his eyes for the first time. Coming face to face with Dr. Fuji, his creator.
Dazed and confused. Mewtwo would begin to question Dr. Fuji of where he was and why he was alive. Dr. Fuji would explained that Mewtwo had been a project. The end goal of all his life's work while opting to neglect mention of the other clones.
Unhappy with his life being seen as nothing more than an experiment made by a man playing god. Mewtwo in his anger would destroy the lab he was created in. Killing everyone there.
After destroying the lab, Mewtwo would meet Giovanni. The leader of Team Rocket and the one funding Mewtwo's creation. Seeing Mewtwo still confused about his situation. Giovanni would use this to convince Mewtwo to work for him. Promising to show Mewtwo how to control his powers as well as the reason for his existence.
Mewtwo seeing no better option, would agree to work with criminal leader. Engaging in various activities such as battling those who came to Giovanni's gym as well as aiding Team Rocket with capturing strong pokemon to use for their own gain.
This would quickly come to an end however as Mewtwo, unhappy with Giovanni not holding up his end of the deal, confronted the man. Only for Giovanni to explain to the cloned pokemon that Mewtwo was nothing more than a weapon and that he should do as he says.
Not willing to accept this. Mewtwo destroyed Giovanni's gym in protest that his life was his own to do with. Mewtwo escaped back to the island where he was created at. Wondering if all humans were the same as Dr. Fuji and Giovanni. Likely influenced by his time spent with Amber-Two. Mewtwo began rebuilding the lab with the plan of inviting various Pokemon Trainers in order to see if Humanity was worth keeping around or if he should destroyed them. With this in mind. Mewtwo would recreate the equipment that had given him birth. Perfecting it to a degree far beyond what Dr. Fuji could have ever hoped to achieve.
With the island rebuilted, Mewtwo would captured the Nurse Joy of portside city to act as his spokesperson as he began inviting various trainers from across the region to his island. One of these trainers being Ash Ketchum.
Mewtwo wouldn't have to wait long as using his various connections. He was able to see the trainers he invited heading towards his island. Wanting to test them. Mewtwo created an epic storm. The likes of which only the best trainers could get pass.
As trainers appeared one by one. Mewtwo wouldn't make himself known until after Ash appeared. Mewtwo would then explained his views of not only the human race but pokemon as a whole. Angered by not only the humans capturing and training Pokemon to fight, but angered by the Pokemon's willingness to go along with it. This viewpoint didn't sit well with the others in the area. Causing the Trainers to engaged Mewtwo in a one-sided battle as Mewtwo not only defeat the trainer's pokemon but also stealing them away with the use of special pokeballs that he made, so that he could clone more pure versions of them.
The trainers only alive due to Mewtwo wanting them to see the new world he would create in his own image.
Ash, one of the trainers who were invited to the island, unwilling to allow Mewtwo to proceed with his plans and wanting to rescue his stolen pokemon. Would infiltrate Mewtwo's base. Destroying cloning equipment and freeing the captured pokemon.
With both armies armed and ready. Ash would confront Mewtwo. Hoping to make Mewtwo understand the flaws in his beliefs. Sadly Mewtwo, too taken by his own anger would launch Ash into one of the surrounding towers. Nearly killing Ash, had it not been for the timely intervention of Mew. The pokemon from which Mewtwo is said to be cloned from.
After debating with Mew about the clones' placement in the world and their supposed superiority. Sealing away the powers of the pokemon around them. Mewtwo and Mew would both lead their respective armies against one another.
Ash, seeing that what they were doing was nothing more than senseless violence, would attempt to stop the fighting between Mewtwo and Mew. Throwing himself between the two legendary pokemon in an act of selflessness just as they fired their strongest attacks at one another. The aftermath of powers colliding resulting in turning Ash to stone.
Mewtwo unable to fully understand just why this young boy would do this in order to stop his battle with Mew watch in awe as Ash's pikachu tried its best to revive Ash. The emotions of the tiny pokemon moving the others to tears as their emotions breed an ass pull, I mean power that revived the young boy.
Seeing the close bond and good between Ash and his pikachu. Mewtwo was finally able to let go of his hatred. Realizing that in his quest to be his own person, to attain his own freedom. He was ultimately denying others the ability to do the same. Realizing that what he did was wrong. Mewtwo would take all the clone pokemon with him to find a place where they can call home. Making sure to wipe the events that had transpired as well as its own existence from the minds of everyone in the world as Mewtwo flew into the night sky. His cloned brothers following closely behind him.
A few months have passed since that fateful day when Mewtwo's mind was changed by Ash. Having travel out towards the johto region. Mewtwo was able to find a suitable location for which he and the cloned pokemon could live peacefully with Mewtwo acting as the guardian of the land. Keeping the peace as he protected the pokemon within the area and even saving various humans within the area such as preventing a school bus full of children from falling off the side of a cliff.
However, despite his self imposed role as a protector. Mewtwo was going through something of an identity crisis. Due to his origins as a clone. Mewtwo wasn't really sure where he really fit in the world. Despite being a pokemon, a creature who naturally appeared in the world. His origins were far natural. Due to this. Mewtwo would find himself thinking back to the things that he learned from his confrontation with both Mew and Ash, and even the years he spent with the young girl that he had came to call his first friend, Amber-Two.
Before Mewtwo could really figure out his place in the world. Mewtwo would learn that he was being pursued by Giovanni and his criminal organization, Team Rocket. Depending on which translation of the movie one went with, Giovanni was somehow able to prevent having his mind erased by Mewtwo after the events of Pokemon: The First Movie.
Forced to fight with the realization that Giovanni wouldn't allow Mewtwo nor his cloned peers to live in peace. Mewtwo would do his best to chase Team Rocket off, not willing to resort to his more violent powers due to being a pacifist at this point in time. Due to this, Mewtwo would find himself being corner by Team Rocket.
During this time, Ash and his friends had found themselves in the town near the mountain where Mewtwo had made his home. Ash despite having no memory of Mewtwo, would find himself helping the legendary pokemon in order to repay Mewtwo for saving his pikachu prior to his capture.
With the aid of Ash, Pikachu, and Team Rocket's talking Meowth. Mewtwo was able to escape Team Rocket's clutches. Realizing that his pacifistic ways weren't enough. Mewtwo would unleash his true power. Overpowering Giovanni's forces while at the same time erasing his existence from the criminal mastermind's well mind. After defeating the forces of Team Rocket. Mewtwo knowing that him and his cloned family wouldn't be safe. Mewtwo would teleport the entire mountain springs and all the pokemon there into a nearby cave. Providing his peers a safe location.
After doing this, Mewtwo would speak with Ash. Learning that despite the young boy having no real reason to help him after freeing him. His interaction with the boy had come to change the pokemon's beliefs. Realizing that just as there are bad people out there. There are just as many good people as there are bad.
Upon coming to this realization. Mewtwo would take a more hands on approach to protecting the peace. Helping keep both the people and the pokemon safe from evils such as Team Rocket from the shadows.
Some time after defeating Team Rocket. Mewtwo would be captured through unknown means by Harry Goodman and a team of trainers hired by Howard Clifford. Howard hoped to use an experimental gas known as R-Gas to fused himself with Mewtwo. Putting his mind into the legendary pokemon while ridding himself of his cripplied aged body. With Mewtwo's power in Howard's hands. Howard hoped to use the R-Gas to reshape the pokemon world in his own vision by merging humans and pokemon into one being.
Harry, upon learning this, would betray Howard. Helping to release Mewtwo in order to stop Howard's evil plan. Sadly as Harry was making his escape. His car would be attacked, Causing the vehicle to drive off the road and nearly killing him just as Mewtwo arrived to provide the man with aid after driving off Harry's attackers.
Seeing the man's condition, Harry's pikachu plead for Mewtwo to help Harry. Accepting to help. Mewtwo fused Harry and his pikachu together. Giving Pikachu the mission of locating Harry's son. As in order for Mewtwo to fully heal Harry. Mewtwo needed someone with the same genetic markers for him to use in order to recreate Harry's body.
Upon giving this task to the lone pikachu. Mewtwo flew off into hiding so that he could regain his strength while keeping Howard's forces at bay for as long as possible.
Mewtwo would appear later, confronting Tim, Harry's son. Trying to explain the situation to the young boy by showing Tim what happened to his father.
Sadly Mewtwo couldn't predict the young boy's state of mind as the moment he showed Harry entering the car crash. Tim immediately assumed it to be Mewtwo's doing. Accusing the pokemon of being evil and very nearly destroying the bond that had been built up between Tim and Harry's pikachu.
Due to this, Mewtwo would end up being captured yet again by Howard Clifford and taken to the tower owned by Howard's company.
Tim and his friends, upon learning the truth of what really happened to Tim's father, Harry, would go to rescue Mewtwo.
Sadly it would be too late as Howard was able to take control of Mewtwo's mind. Seeing no other choice but to split up their efforts. Harry's pikachu would engage Mewtwo in a battle above the city, while Tim faced off against Howard's enhanced ditto in order to destroy the machine that was allowing Howard to control Mewtwo.
Harry's pikachu was able to hold Mewtwo off long enough for Tim to disconnect the signal connecting Howard to Mewtwo. Freeing the legendary pokemon.
Mewtwo now free, proceeded to fix the damage caused by Howard when he was in control of Mewtwo's body. Reverting the fused pokemon back to their human and pokemon selves while at the same time erasing the R-Gas from existence.
Mewtwo in one final act would thank Tim, using the young boy's genetics to recreate Harry's body and removing Harry's mind from his pikachu. Allowing both Tim and Harry to live on as Father and Son before flying away. Perhaps back to Johto where he could be with his cloned brethren.
It is unknown what happened to Mewtwo after this. However, one thing is for sure. Despite being created as a weapon for evil. Mewtwo is anything but.
And he will use his power, not to harm others, but to protect those who need him, just as others have done for him.
Appearance: Standing at what appears to be six feet tall and weighing in at 269 pounds. Mewtwo appears to have an alien, humanoid form, with two arms and legs, with three orb-like digits on each limb. Its face, despite the alien like qualities, has a number of cat like features.
Mewtwo's skin color is shown to be an incredibly faded purple color, with his tail and underbelly being a darker shade of purple compared to the rest of his body. Mewtwo is shown have violet color eyes, with the violet's red aspect being more pronounced.
One of mewtwo's more defining characteristics appears to be his body's bone structure. With the bones in his chest and shoulder areas being more pronounced compared to the rest of his body, and horn like ears on the top of his head. Mewtwo also appears to have what is believed to be a second spine behind his neck, connecting his head to his back.
Mewtwo's hip area is shown to be wider than the rest of his body.
Physiology
-Enhanced Mew Physiology(Unique): Mewtwo is stated to be an enhanced clone of Mew. Unlike Mew's more cute appearance, Mewtwo's appearance is due to having various strains of his genetic code altered by Dr. Fuji in order to improve his combat abilities. Due to this. Mewtwo stands at the same height as a fully grown man at a little over 6 feet tall. Aside from the difference in physical looks. The genetic alterations made to Mewtwo also affected his overall abilities. Making Mewtwo smarter than the average man, and even increasing his strength, durability, etc. What make's Mewtwo's physiology unique is due to several pieces of lore within the Pokemon universe that points to the possibility that remains used to clone Mewtwo may not have been mew's, but rather another species similar to mew as Mewtwo can access mega evolution through the use of a naturally occurring stone called mega stones, referred to as Mewtwonite X and Y. Something that Mew isn't able to use.
-Superhuman Strength: Mewtwo like any pokemon is shown to have superhuman strength, as Mewtwo is capable of learning moves such as Mega Punch and Brick Break. Mewtwo is shown being able to clash with Mew. Slamming into one another with enough force to send out shockwaves. Mewtwo is capable of enhancing his strength through the use of his telekinetic abilities.
-Superhuman Speed: Mewtwo is capable of using his telekinetic abilities to move at hypersonic speeds. Being able to clash with mew in which they were moving so fast that they appeared as blurs at times. Similarly, Mewtwo was shown after destroying the Team rocket base he was held in, flying away at such speeds that it left a light trail behind him. The speed he was moving at, being so great that the wind pressure ripped the armor he was wearing at the time right off of him. Despite having several impressive feats of speed. Mewtwo's upper speed limits are currently unknown.
-Superhuman Reflexes: Mewtwo is shown to have superhuman reflexes. Being able to dodge and react to various attacks thrown his way. He has stopped charging pokemon such as tauros, deflected a hyper beam from a Gyarados, and has been able to keep and fight evenly with Mew, despite the latter moving at supersonic speeds.
-Superhuman Agility: Mewtwo is capable of superhuman agility through the use of his psychic powers.
-Superhuman Senses: Mewtwo is capable of expanding his senses through the use of his immense psychic powers. By spreading his power out over an area, he is then able to see and react to anything within that area. In one case, he was able to sense a number of trainers miles away who were heading to his island, before forming a powerful storm just to test them.
-Superhuman Durability: While not displayed all that often. Mewtwo does have superhuman durability. Being able to withstand various attacks from other pokemon. In perhaps its greatest feat. Mewtwo had fired a Shadow Ball at Mew during their battle, Only for Mew to sent it right back. The energy blast hitting Mewtwo and slamming into the stone stands and Mewtwo stood up right afterwards with little to no real injuries as a result.
-Physical Damage Resistance: Mewtwo do to pokemon logic, has a heightened resistance to physical damage as it takes less damage from Fighting-Type pokemon attacks.
-Energy Resistance: Mewtwo due to being psychic pokemon is capable of withstanding and surviving being hit by various energy attacks. In addition to this, Mewtwo is stated to have a heightened resistance to psychic-type energy attacks.
-Superhuman Healing Factor: It is noted in the radio drama, "The Birth of Mewtwo" that Mewtwo(Pokemon: The First Movie) is capable of using the technique Recover. A Normal-Type Pokemon ability that allows the user to rapidly heal from injuries inflicted upon it. Allowing it to continue fighting and potentially out lasting his foes. Despite the fact that this move heals one's injuries. The pokemon's stamina doesn't fully recover either due to the mental strain caused by the wounds remaining or the fact that the pokemon's energy is still being used in order to heal itself.
-Superhuman Intelligence: Due to being a Psychic-type pokemon. Mewtwo is naturally very smart. His intelligence far surpassing that of normal humans. This was shown when upon returning to the lab which he was created in on New Island. Mewtwo, within a matter of days, was able to construct a palace, reconstruct and perfect the cloning equipment used to make himself, and even creating special pokeballs capable of operating on their own and able to steal the pokemon belonging to other trainers. Even capturing their pokeballs when the pokemon were returned to them in the hopes of prevent them from being taken away. Mewtwo is even shown having a vast understanding of human genetics and body structure as in the Detective Pikachu movie. Mewtwo notes that he couldn't heal Harry Goodman unless he had another person with him who shared the same genetic markers as Harry did as Mewtwo needed to remake Harry's body in order to heal him.
-Superhuman Mental Processing: Mewtwo is shown having superhuman levels of mental processing abilities to go along with his intelligence. One of Mewtwo's biggest feats being near the end of Pokemon: the First Movie, where Mewtwo used his power to speak with not only all of the pokemon but the humans as well. He maintained this ability while fighting Mewtwo and then later lifting and taking all of the cloned pokemon away from the island, while at the same time erasing the memories of everyone involved with his event while teleporting them back to where they came from prior to Mewtwo creating his storm. Also this was all done while he was maintaining a supercell hurricane storm that was continuously growing and becoming more powerful.
Powers
-Energy Manipulation: As a pokemon, Mewtwo is capable of controlling various types of energy from mental energies, to various elemental energies such as electricity, fire and even ghostly energy such as with Shadow Ball. Similarly, while Mewtwo has displayed the ability to shoot fire or electricity. Mewtwo is capable of learning how to do so with enough time.
-Telekinesis (Psychic): Due to not only being a psychic-type pokemon but also a clone of the legendary pokemon Mew. Mewtwo is shown to have immense psychic powers. His most notable of which being his Telekinesis, or Psychic as it is called in lore. With the use of this power, Mewtwo is capable of moving, crushing, and throwing various objects of all types and sizes with his mind. With this power, Mewtwo was able to destroy several heavily fortified bases with ease, one of which being the base on New Island, where he destroyed it with ease despite only having a base understanding of what he could do. Mewtwo's telekinetic abilities extends so far to the point where he can mimic other super power abilities such as weather manipulation, flight, and even matter and space manipulation. In truth, had Mewtwo been in another franchise such as Marvel or DC comics. The power that Mewtwo demonstrates would have him classed as a life wiper or potentially a planet buster in terms of pure power. His greatest feat of telekinesis being when at the end of Pokemon: The First Movie. Mewtwo was able to stop the life-ending storm he created while grabbing and flying all of the cloned pokemon to another location, while at the same time mind-wiping everyone's memory of what he did, the storm and himself.
-Stat Enhancement (Psychic): Mewtwo, through the use of his immense psychic abilities, is capable of enhancing his overall physical stats. Allowing him to increase his speed, reflexes and so forth to superhuman levels. He is capable of surrounding himself in a psychic aura that grants him extreme durability and strength as when he fought against Mew and the various forces of Team Rocket. The full extent of this stat enhancement isn't known however. Therefore it is reasonable to say that what has been seen so far isn't the full extent of Mewtwo's power.
-Weather Manipulation: As mentioned above. Mewtwo's psychic abilities are on such a level that he is capable of casually controlling the weather on a planetary scale. Creating a massive hurricane that was able to shut down all seafaring traffic around the world. Part way through Pokemon: The First Movie, after all the trainers who he invited to his island failed his test. Mewtwo proceeded to create and maintain a storm that was continuously growing to the point that in a few hours or potentially days, would have wiped out all life on the planet. He was able to maintain control over this storm despite fighting Ash and later Mew. When Mewtwo changed his mind about ending all life as we know it after witnessing Ash's sacrifice. Mewtwo stopped the storm almost instantly.
-Matter Manipulation: As shown in "Pokemon: Detective Pikachu." Mewtwo is capable of manipulating matter on a city wide scale. The first time we experience this being when he fused Harry Goodman with his pikachu in order to save the man's life. Later after being freed of Howard Clifford's control. Mewtwo would proceed to repair the damage caused by the madman fusing all of the trainers with their pokemon through the use of the R-Gas. Mewtwo would quickly revert everyone back to their normal selves. Later using Tim Goodman's genes. Mewtwo was able to create a body for Tim's father, Harry Goodman.
-Flight: Mewtwo through the use of his telekinetic powers is capable of flight. He is shown being able to fly at hypersonic speeds as in one case, after destroying one of Team Rocket's main bases. He was able to fly from an unknown location within the Kanto Region, tens to potentially hundreds of miles out towards sea to New Island, where he was created in a matter of minutes, leaving behind a trail of light due to the speed at which he was moving. He has even been able to enter the earth's atmosphere with ease, unlike a future incarnation of Mewtwo that we don't talk about.
-Telepathy: Mewtwo through his mental abilities is capable of speaking with anyone through their mind through the use of telepathy. Even being able to converse with multiple people and entities at once.
-Mind Manipulation: Mewtwo is capable of altering and messing with someone's mind. Being able to control someone such as with Nurse Joy to even erasing parts of people's memories on a planet wide scale such as at the end of "Pokemon: The First Movie." Even powerful psychic pokemon such as Alakazam is not immune to this. Mewtwo is even able to inflict a confuse and/ or sleep status on his opponents with little issue.
-Psystrike: Stated as Mewtwo's personal super attack. While not officially named when it first appeared in "Pokemon: The First Movie." The attack works by concentrating a large amount of psychic energy in front of Mewtwo before launching at the target. The attack creates a massive explosion dealing massive damage to the target. Mewtwo attempted to use this attack on Mew in the hopes of finishing the pokemon off. Sadly Ash was hit. It appears that when this move is combined with Mew's version of the attack. It can turn a human being into stone.
-Disable: A power which allows Mewtwo the ability to seal off any or all of the special powers of other pokemon. Mewtwo is shown being able to seal off the powers of a number of other pokemon no matter how powerful or how many there are. He was shown doing this with Mew prior to their battle in "Pokemon: The First Movie."
-Pressure: Mewtwo is one of a few pokemon that subconsciously releases a powerful aura which frightens other pokemon. Causing pokemon to somewhat panic when fighting Mewtwo and using more power in their attacks with reduced gains.
-Teleportation: Mewtwo is capable of moving at near lightspeeds through the use of teleportation. Allowing him to appear anywhere nearly instantly.
-Space Manipulation: Only really shown once in the "Mewtwo's Return" special. Near the end of the special. After defeating Team Rocket. Realizing that his cloned brothers will remain in constant danger due to him as well as the magical properties of the hot springs where they resided at. Mewtwo, through a combination of his teleport ability and his matter manipulation, was able to warp the hot springs and the surrounding area inside the center of a mountain, while altering the original location enough to the point where one wouldn't be able to tell that a lake had been there. Similarly, when performing this feat. Had to alter the inside of the mountain enough to be able to contain not only the hot springs, but the pokemon, some trees, and have the inside of the cave remain structurally stable when doing this. Another feat
-Shadow Ball: Mewtwo is capable of forming and firing orbs of ghostly energy from its hands. These orbs are shown to be very powerful, being able to knock Mew high into the cloud cover with little issue. The attack was even shown to contain enough energy to injured Mewtwo when Mew knocked it back at him. Due to this move being a Ghost-type attack. It is shown to have great effectiveness against Psychic-Type pokemon as well as other ghost types.
-Barrier: Mewtwo is capable of surrounding itself in an energy barrier. This barrier is shown to increase Mewtwo's defenses to massive levels as well as shielding him from various impacts. Allowing him to use his insane speed to ram into various foes. Dealing massive damage to them.
-Counter: Mewtwo is capable of forming an energy shield which can redirect and reflect various energy based attack bad at the attacker with double the power. This was shown when he used it take out a gyarados which used hyper beam on it before Mewtwo casually sent it back, knocking the flying water pokemon out with ease.
-Hyper Beam: An energy beam with massive attack power. It is one of the strongest attack any pokemon can learn. Mewtwo used this move in the radio drama depicting its origin story prior to the release of the movie. However, due to the amount of power output by this attack. It has a chance of stunning the user. Potentially putting Mewtwo in a dangerous spot if the move doesn't land correctly.
-Swift: An attack in which Mewtwo releases energy in the shape of stars. Which Mewtwo then fires at an opponent. These star shaped energy disc are capable of slicing through various objects and with enough skill and control. Mewtwo can make these energy projectiles chase after a foe.
-Z-Crystal Empowerment: Much like with his mega evolution power listed below. Mewtwo has never shown the ability to use a Z-Move throughout the series. However, should Mewtwo come in contact with a Z-crystal. Mewtwo would be able to absorb the energy radiating from said crystal. This energy depending on the crystal, will enhance the various attacks that Mewtwo has, depending on their pokemon-type as well as the z-crystal he is drawing from. Drawing in enough power from these Z-Crystals will allow Mewtwo the ability to use the Z-move belonging to that crystal such as Shattered Psyche if he comes into contact with Psychium Z or Breakneck Blitz for Normalium Z. Currently, it is unknown if there is a special Z-Crystal which only Mewtwo can used like the one belonging to his supposed counterpart Mew.
-Mega Evolution: Despite this ability never being shown within any of his appearances. Mewtwo does in fact have the ability to enter a semi-evolved state, known as Mega Evolution via coming in contact with certain special materials known as Mewtwonite X and Mewtwonite Y. Upon entering the mega evolved state attributed to the mega stone he came in contact with. Mewtwo's overall stats are increased to massive levels. Allowing him to potentially become stronger than even other legendary pokemon such as Arceus and Rayquaza. However, depending on which mewtwonite was used to mega evolve Mewtwo, will determined which of his stats gains a greater increase, with his Mewtwo X form granting him more of a physical stat boost, and Mewtwo Y granting him more of an ability stat boost via his psychic powers. It is currently unknown if Mewtwo is capable of entering this form on his own or if he requires the use of the materials previously mentioned.
-[Mega Mewtwo X]: Upon coming into contact with mewtwonite X. Mewtwo is capable of entering a mega evolved form known as Mega Mewtwo X. This form increases all of Mewtwo's stats and his psychic power to higher levels. However, Unlike his Mega Mewtwo Y form which focused mainly on Mewtwo's Ability stats. Mewtwo's physical stats in this form are shown to gain a greater boost than his already powerful ability stats. This increase grants Mewtwo greater physical strength and speed, Greater physical durability, A greater hand to hand combat potential, and even granting Mewtwo a duel typing of Psyche and Fighting. It should be noted that according to the games. Mewtwo in this form, potentially has the highest physical attack power of all pokemon. This is surprising given some of the insane feats that the games claimed certain pokemon have such as Machamp who can smash a mountain with his fist. Giving mewtwo greater resistant to pokemon types that he had issues with before, in exchange for being weaker against other types.
-{Superhuman Strength}: Upon entering his Mega Mewtwo X state, Mewtwo's strength is stated to increase far beyond what he is normally capable of. According to one pokedex entry. Mewtwo's grip strength upon entering this form is stated to be over one ton of force.
-{Superhuman Speed}: Upon entering this form, Mewtwo's physical speed is shown to increase far beyond that of a normal human. Mewtwo's physical speed in this form is stated by a pokedex entry as being able to move over 100 meters in 2 seconds flat, or roughly 112 mph prior to enhancing his speed with his psychic abilities.
-{Superhuman Durability}: Much like with Mewtwo's other stats when entering his Mega Mewtwo X form. Mewtwo's physical durability is increased further beyond his normal limits. Allowing him to withstand stronger physical blow. Allowing him to go fist to fist with other physical based opponents.
-{Steadfast}: When facing off against a foe attempting to slow Mewtwo down when in this form. Mewtwo's speed will increase in reaction to this.
-[Mega Mewtwo Y]: Much like with his Mega Mewtwo X form. Mewtwo is able to mega evolve into Mega Mewtwo Y if he comes into contact with a mewtwonite Y stone. Upon entering this form. Mewtwo gains a massive boost in his ability stats at the cost of his size. When in this form, Mewtwo's speed and psychic abilities are raised to insane levels. The full potential of this form isn't fully known as Mewtwo hasn't entered this form in canon. However, looking at another incarnation of Mewtwo who used this form in the anime. The increase in Mewtwo's psychic powers is likely an increase of 2 to 5 times his based.
-{Superhuman Speed}: Upon entering his Mega Mewtwo Y form. Due to the massive increase in his psychic abilities. Mewtwo's speed is raised several times beyond normal. Allowing Mewtwo to dodge potential attacks in order to make up for his lower physical durability and physical defense.
-{Increased Ability Power}: As mentioned. Upon entering this form. Mewtwo's psychic powers are increased to several stages. The full extent of Mega Mewtwo Y's psychic power is unknown, However, according to game lore and stats. The pokemon, Mewtwo in his Mega Mewtwo Y form has the highest special attack stat out of all pokemon.
-{Increased Energy Resistance}: Upon entering his Mega Mewtwo Y form. Mewtwo is according to game lore suffers a decrease in physical durability. However, he makes up for it through a massive increase in special defense or energy resistance. Allowing Mewtwo a greater defense in order to tank powerful energy attacks such as Hyper Beam, elemental base attacks and others.
-{Insomnia}: Upon entering his Mega Mewtwo Y form. Mewtwo gains the ability known as insomnia. An ability or trait that makes it impossible for Mewtwo to be put to sleep by an enemy's special power.
-[Dynamax Form]: Mewtwo, like any pokemon has the potential to Dynamax. A process which allows Mewtwo to grow to the size of a skyscraper. However, While it is unknown if Mewtwo is capable of entering this form on his own. Mewtwo is capable of entering the Dynamax state if he comes into contact with or uses special technology. Similarly it is unknown if Mewtwo has a Gigantamax form as currently not much is known about the Dynamax state and its variants.
Skills
-Master Engineer: Shown in "Pokemon: The First Movie," Mewtwo is shown having advanced engineering knowledge. Being able to reconstruct the research lab used to create him in a matter of days. Upon looking at the equipment located at his base in the movie. Mewtwo has shown that not only was he able to remake the technology located there, but also prefect it to a degree that even Dr. Fuji wasn't capable of doing. Mewtwo's cloning technology is being shown to create fully mature cloned pokemon in a matter of minutes as opposed to years like with Dr. Fuji's equipment. Similarly, Mewtwo had shown the ability to create pokeballs capable of stealing other people's pokemon and even taking their pokeballs.
-Genetics and Biology Expert: Mewtwo is shown to have a wide array of knowledge involving genetics and biology. Being able to perfect the cloning equipment used to create himself to far higher degrees than what was shown with Dr. Fuji. Similarly, in the "Detective Pikachu" movie. Mewtwo shows the ability to create living body's through his own power, in which he separated the fused pokemon back into their human and pokemon selves. Similarly, Mewtwo despite not being able to fully heal Harry Goodman, Used his son's, Tim Goodman's genetic code in order to recreate Harry's body. Stating that he needed the boy due to him having the same genetic markers as his father.
-Tactics Expert: Mewtwo, likely due to his involvement with Giovanni, The Team Rocket Leader, Is shown having some tactical knowledge. Being able to train various pokemon to the point that they were able to overcome other pokemon in a pokemon battle with months to potentially years of experience.
-Stealth: Mewtwo, after the events of "Mewtwo's Return," is stated to move around protecting both people and pokemon from danger. He has never really been seen, with only legends being noted, showing that he exists as more than a legend.
-Leadership: Mewtwo spent several months leading the cloned pokemon he created. Keeping them safe from harm. His skills in leadership on a level that while the other pokemon don't always fully understand why he does things a certain way. They still trust Mewtwo to make the choices that are best for them.
Gear
-Pokeballs(Mewtwo's Variant): Mewtwo has access to special pokeballs which it created. Allowing him to steal other people's pokemon. Mewtwo appears to have abandon the use of these pokeballs as they were never seen again after the events of "Pokemon: The First Movie"
-Cloning Equipment: Mewtwo is shown to have access to cloning equipment which he made and perfected. Allowing him to clone various pokemon that he has taken. However, Mewtwo seems to have stopped using this after it was destroyed by Ash in "Pokemon the First Movie."
Weaknesses
Mewtwo doesn't really have many weaknesses, as what few weaknesses he does have is covered by his immense power. However, it should be noted that according to pokemon lore. As Mewtwo is a psychic-type pokemon. He does suffer from certain type weaknesses that could be exploited if his foe is strong enough.
-Pokeballs: As a pokemon, Mewtwo has the innate weakness to a piece of technology known as a pokeball. Little orb like devices capable of trapping and potentially enslaving any pokemon caught with it. Due to this, should Mewtwo be caught off guard or weaken when hit by a pokeball. Mewtwo risk being captured and potentially enslaved. Similarly there are different types of pokeballs introduced throughout the series. Each one having a greater or weaker effectiveness on Mewtwo depending on the pokemon the pokeballs were designed for.
-Bug-Type Pokemon Attacks: Mewtwo, according to pokemon lore, due to his type, has a weakness to Bug-type attack moves. Why this is, is currently unknown aside from balancing issues within the games.
-Dark-Type Pokemon Attacks: Mewtwo, according to pokemon lore, due to his type, has a weakness to Dark-type attack moves. Why this is, is currently unknown aside from balancing issues within the games.
-Ghost-Type Pokemon Attacks: Mewtwo, according to pokemon lore, due to his type, has a weakness to Ghost-type attack moves. Why this is, is currently unknown aside from balancing issues within the games.
-Flying-Type Pokemon Attacks: While not originally a weakness to Mewtwo. Mewtwo gains this weakness upon entering his Mega Mewtwo X form. The reason for this weakness is unknown.
-Fairy-Type Pokemon Attacks: While not originally a weakness to Mewtwo. Mewtwo gains this weakness upon entering his Mega Mewtwo X form. The reason for this weakness is unknown.
Feats
Like any overpowered character with limited appearances. Mewtwo is not without his feats of power. Surprisingly despite his limited appearance within the franchise. Mewtwo has shown a number of feats within each of his appearances. The following is a list of feats which I find to be the most impressive.
-In "Pokemon: The First Movie," Mewtwo, within the span of a few days to potentially months at most, was capable of building a massive palace which acted as his base for the events of the movie. Similarly, what makes this feat impressive is that it isn't so much a feat of power, but a feat of intelligence. Being able to recreate and perfect the cloning technology used to give birth to himself as well as creating special pokeballs which were able to steal other trainer's pokemon, which is a interesting feat given that it is nearly impossible for someone to steal another person's pokemon due to special systems within the normal pokeball preventing pokemon theft.
-In the events of "Pokemon: Mewtwo's Return," Mewtwo displayed an impressive feat of power. On the top of a volcano-like mountain. There was an island at the center of the crater lake at the top of the mountain, which produced a special hot springs water. Mewtwo after being healed by this water, displayed an incredible feat of power, being able to warp space on such a level that Mewtwo warp the island and the hot springs into the center of the mountain. Being able to alter the mountain on such a level that it remained stable despite being hollowed out and refilled. Similarly, he was able to change where the flow of this special hot springs water came from. Allowing it to still come from the island. Similarly upon doing this. Mewtwo was able to wipe the memory of Giovanni and every member of Team Rocket (except for Jessie, James, and their Meowth). Making them forget that Mewtwo ever existed. All of this within a single motion.
-In the "Detective Pikachu" movie. We are shown an impressive feat of Mewtwo's power. In which Mewtwo was able to separate and reformed the humans and pokemon who were fused together, back into their separate bodies, while at the same time removing and vaporizing the R-gas that filled the city. This was also done on a city wide scale in a matter of moments. Similarly, Mewtwo after doing this, was able to recreate a perfectly healthy body for Harry Goodman, using his son, Tim's genetics to do so.
Entry End
So that was Mewtwo(Pokemon: The First Movie). A very powerful character, especially for a children's show. Having gone back to watch both the movies and the special. You really don't get a full grasp of just how powerful this version of Mewtwo is, when watching these things as a kid. Now that I'm older and know far more about power scaling compare to when I was a kid. I can honestly say that Mewtwo is in fact the strongest pokemon. At least when it comes to the anime. The manga version of Mewtwo can certainly give this version a run for his money. And let's not get started on how OP the Mystery dungeon version is.
Now Before I get on to the main announcements that I normally do. I do want to address one thing that someone PM me about concerning the information gathering process for these entries.
So, first thing first. I will be making a Q&A tied-in for the USD series, which I will be addressing this subject more in depth at. Okay so the main issue was the inclusion of information for various version as canon for character incarnation that I was doing such as in the Gilgamesh entry and the Mr. X entry. The short answer to this is that they are canon. The long answer, is that certain information is included due to certain plot devices such as the Throne of Heroes for the fate franchise, and for resident evil, being statements from capcom stating what is and isn't canon, with the Darkside Chronicles being stated as canon. Like I said, I will be making a Q&A tied-in which will go over this topic and many others. Outside of that. It mainly comes down to figuring out how the information is presented and where it can be located at. As you can see from my rants at the end of the entries I mentioned. It wasn't easy finding this stuff at times.
I've said my piece on that subject. I do have a few updates on upcoming post. The next entry for Know Your Character will be on Death from the Darksiders Series, followed by Green Lantern from DC Comics' New 52 Earth Prime. The Death entry won't be out until at least the 17th at the earliest and green lantern coming out a roughly a week later.
I'll be posting the "Good Omens" review video on youtube for the "Worth The Pages" series on February 14. The name for my youtube channel being the same as my fanfiction and AO3 accounts. I'll also have a link to it on my P a Tre on page once it's out.
Now as for everything else. All I can say is that I'll get them out as soon as I can.
So with that said.
Anyways. With that all said and done.
