A/N: Hey guys! It's so good to be back with this story. Sorry if it took me a year to post this very anticipated chapter but between doing thesis, my last year of college and a writer's block, this chapter was put on hold until now. I hope you like it and I'm going to post a chapter of the honeymoon soon!
Chapter 14: Mhi solus tome, mhi solus dar'tome
Ezra sighed like it seemed to be the thousand time that day, he was at the spaceport waiting for Alrich; he probed into the Force and sighed in relief when he felt Sabine's presence still at the museum.
The young man smiled when he saw his future father-in-law walking towards him. "Alrich, hey!" Ezra said and shook hands with Sabine's father.
"Hello, Ezra. I'm glad to see you." The older man answered.
"Likewise." Ezra answered and they left the spaceport.
"How is Sabine?" The older man asked.
"She's good." The Jedi answered. "She has been busy with her work as Lothal's Museum Director." He said.
"Really?" Alrich asked surprised. "I thought she wanted to give art classes at the local school." He said.
"She does but Rhyder decided to name her Director of the Museum and she also will give art classes next autumn." The Jedi answered.
"That's good to hear." The Count of Clan Wren said. "And what about you?" He asked.
"Well, I haven't told Sabine but a few days ago, I ran into the administrator of the school where Sabine is going to teach art classes and he told me they are planning to give classes about the Jedi and their history and he asked me if I was interested to teach the kids about the Jedi History." The young man said.
"And what did you tell him?" Alrich asked.
"That it would wonderful to teach the kids about the history of the Jedi." Ezra answered.
"That's amazing, Ezra." The older man said.
"Thank you, sir. I also had another work proposal a few days later; an instructor approached to me and he told me he had read about me and offered me a job to train people in hand-to-hand combat and basics of lightsaber training." The young man said.
"Those are very good news, Ezra. I'm sure Sabine will be happy when you tell her." Alrich said.
"Thank you." Ezra answered.
"Do you know what job are you going to take?" The Count asked.
"Well, I was thinking about taking the two jobs. The administrator told me I could chose the days to teach, so I decided just to teach Jedi history two days and the rest of the week I'll be instructor at Lothal's Community Center." Ezra said.
The older man smiled and they kept walking through Lothal's streets. The reason why Alrich had gone to Lothal was to help Ezra with some Mandalorian things for the wedding; Alrich knew his daughter was capable to plan her own wedding all by herself but he also knew Ezra was planning something big for their wedding day and he wanted to keep it as secret and as a surprise for Sabine.
"I talked with my wife about the request you asked for and, like me, she agrees that Lothal has been Sabine's home for the past five years more than Krownest was for her." Alrich said. "We also know that you don't have any intention to move from Lothal, especially now that you are going to get married."
"Ursa accepted your request to add the Lothal system to Mandalorian controlled space." The older man said.
"Really!?" Ezra said smiling.
Alrich nodded. "Yes." He said.
"Thank you." The young man answered and shook hands with Alrich.
The older man chuckled softly. "You are welcome, Ezra." He said. "Did you already talk with Governor Rhyder about this?"
"Yes, he still has his doubts about it but I assured him that he will continue to be Lothal's Governor. I also told him that in case someone decides to attack Lothal, they will have to deal with Mandalorians." Ezra answered.
"Well, I would like to talk with Rhyder to explain him how things will work once Lothal is under Mandalorian controlled space." The artist said.
"Sure." The young man said and they headed to the city hall.
"Uh, Alrich. Can I ask you for another favor?" Ezra said.
"Sure, what is it?" The Count asked.
"Well, it's a surprise for Sabine for our wedding day and I really want to surprise her." The young man said.
"I will help you with what I can." Alrich said.
Ezra just smiled and they continued walking.
Sabine was checking some things in her datapad when Ezra opened the door of her office and walked inside.
"For the last time, I'm not interested in mounting an exhibition about Ewoks." Sabine said without taking her eyes from the screen of the datapad.
"I didn't came here to suggest you should mount an exhibition about Endor's teddy bears." Ezra said.
The Mandalorian looked up in surprise and got up from her chair like a lightning and hugged Ezra. The young man smiled and wrapped his arms around her and spun her around, then, he set her back on the floor and leaned down to kiss her.
The young woman put a hand on the back of his head and deepened the kiss.
"What are you doing here? I still have an hour left." She said when they broke apart.
"Someone came to visit us." He answered.
"Who?" She asked.
Ezra didn't answer but he motioned to the door and Sabine's eyes widen in surprise when she saw her father walking into her office
"Dad!" She said and walked to her father and hugged him.
"Hello, adi'ka." Alrich said.
"Did mother and Tristan also come?" The younger Mandalorian asked when they separated from the hug.
"No, they could not come. Your mother went to Mandalore and your brother stayed back at Krownest training new warriors, though I'm sure he stayed back because there is a young female warrior from Clan Eldar that has called his attention and he wants to see her." Alrich said.
Sabine chuckled. "I'm sure he's just trying to call her attention like someone I know used to do." She said teasingly.
Ezra rolled his eyes. "Very funny." He said.
"Well, at least you got better at flirting." She said and kissed his cheek.
Alrich just smiled at the sight knowing his daughter had chosen the right man to be her husband.
Later, that night, Ezra was sitting up in bed reading a datapad when Sabine walked into the room.
"Hey." She said.
"Hey." He said with a smile on his face and looking up from the datapad.
"Why are you still up?" The Mandalorian asked as she started to take off her clothes.
"I was waiting for you." Ezra answered as he turned off the datapad and placed it on the nightstand beside the bed.
"Sorry, dad and I were so into the project we are working on that we didn't realize time flew by." She answered.
"Did he get settled in the guest room?" The young man asked as he watched his fiancée taking off the old gray t-shirt she wore when she painted.
"Yeah, he did." She answered as she took off her black sweatpants, leaving her only in her sports bra and her black panties.
Ezra smirked at the sight in front of him and got up from the bed slowly, he walked to where Sabine was and wrapped his arms around her waist from behind and placed a kiss on the curve where her neck and shoulder met.
She purred softly and put her hands over his, then, she turned around in his arms and wrapped her arms around his neck.
"You okay?" She asked. "You have been pretty quiet all week." She said.
"Yeah, I'm good." The young man answered.
The young woman placed a hand on his scarred cheek. "Ezra, I know something is bothering you. Please, tell me what it is." She said.
The raven-haired man sighed. "I need to talk with you about something." He said.
"What is it?" She asked a little worried.
He smiled when he sensed her worry. "Don't worry, it's nothing bad." He said.
"Alright." She answered. "What is it?"
"A few days ago, I ran into the administrator of the school where you are going to give art classes and he offered me to give classes of the Jedi and their history and a few days later, I got another job offer at the Community Center to teach hand-to-hand combat and lightsaber techniques." He said.
"And what job did you choose?" Sabine asked.
"I chose the two jobs." He said.
"Really?" She asked.
"Yeah, the administrator told me I could choose the days to teach, so I decided just to teach Jedi history two days and the rest of the week I'll be instructor at Lothal's Community Center." He said.
"Ez, those are good news!" Sabine said happily and threw herself at him, then, she kissed him.
Ezra smiled against her lips and deepened the kiss, then, he bent at the knees and lifted her up, the young woman wrapped her legs around his waist and deepened the kiss. The Jedi deposited his fiancée on the bed and started to kiss her neck earning soft moans from her. Her hands moved down and took off his shirt and tossed it aside; they broke apart for a moment and Ezra pulled his shorts down leaving him only in his underwear, he climbed on the bed and hovered over Sabine. They stared into each other's eyes and he smiled lovingly at her, she smiled in return and he leaned down to kiss her.
A few days later, Sabine was reading about Lothal's wedding traditions when Ezra walked into the study room.
"Hey babe." He said.
"Hey." She said smiling.
"What are you doing?" The young man asked as he sat down next to her on the couch.
"I was just reading some of Lothal's wedding traditions." She said and turned off her datapad. "Ezra, can I talk with you about something?" She asked a few minutes later.
"Sure, what is it?" He answered.
"I've been thinking about the offer Rhyder made us some time ago." She answered.
"About building a house for us?" The Jedi asked.
"Yeah." She nodded. "I've been thinking about it since we got engaged. Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed living and calling the tower home for the past six years but now we are going to start a new chapter in our lives, I think we should do it in a new place, don't you think?" She asked.
Ezra stayed quiet processing Sabine's words. He knew she was right and even if she had done an excellent job by remodeling the communications tower, he also knew that they would be a little tight if they had more than one child, so the idea of living in a house didn't sound so bad.
"Yeah, I think that's a great idea." He said.
Sabine's face lit up and kissed his cheek. "I have some blueprints we can look at to decide how we want our future house to be." She said.
"You already knew what I was going to say, didn't you?" The young man said.
"You know I'm always a step ahead of you, Bridger." She said and started to show her fiancée the blueprints.
Sabine sighed softly when she looked at herself in the mirror. The day had finally arrived, today, she and Ezra would be joined as one in marriage and she couldn't help but feel nervous about this huge step she was going to take but at the same time, she felt happy because she was going to spend the rest of her life with the man she loved.
She had changed her hair again for the occasion, she had dyed it in a bright shade of orange that darkened as it went down and she had also chosen to wear a wedding dress as per Lothalian tradition but one thing was for sure, Ezra was going to lose his mind.
"Sabine?" Hera asked and poked her head into the tent.
The young woman turned her head and smiled at the Twi'lek. "Come in, Hera." She said.
Hera smiled and walked into the tent. "You look amazing." She said.
"Thanks." The Mandalorian said with a faint blush on her face.
The Twi'lek walked forward and enveloped the young woman in a hug. "I'm so proud of you, both of you." She said. "And I know Kanan is too."
"Thank you, Hera." Sabine said.
They broke apart and Sabine looked one last time in the mirror before she and Hera left the tent.
Ezra checked the armor for the thousandth time, he wanted to make sure everything was perfect before he left the tent. He smiled softly when imagined Sabine's face when she saw him wearing Mandalorian armor as it was a traditional Mandalorian wedding. He put on his gloves and grabbed the helmet before leaving the tent.
Both had decided that the wedding would be in Lothal since the planet had a lot of meaning for both of them; it was where they had met, where he had found his new family, where he had disappeared to protect them and where he had come back to her. Both also had agreed that the wedding ceremony would be a reflection of both cultures, his and hers. They were going to recite the Mandalorian vows and then, exchange rings and personal vows as per Lothal tradition.
The guest list had been short, only Clan Wren, Lady Bo-Katan, his not-so-secret-husband Fenn Rau and their Ghost family but that didn't stop the people of Lothal to make celebrations and congratulate them once the news of two of the heroes who had liberated Lothal were getting married was spread across the planet.
"Are you ready, adi'ka?" Alrich asked when he saw his daughter.
"Yes, dad. I'm ready." She answered.
Alrich smiled and hugged her. "I'm so proud of you, dear." He said.
"Thank you, father." She said.
"And I know your mother is proud of you too even if she doesn't say it out loud." He said.
She smiled and they broke the hug, then, Alrich went to sit as Hera walked up to her.
"He's waiting for you." She said.
Sabine took a deep breath and glanced at the small crowd before she started walking down the aisle. As she walked closer to the end of the aisle, she saw a man in Mandalorian armor standing where Ezra should be and frowned softly but when she reached the end of the aisle, the man took off his helmet and was surprised to see Ezra wearing the armor.
"Hey." He said with a smile on his face.
"Hey." She said as she eyed him. "How...?"
"Well, since we agreed to have a wedding with both Mandalorian and Lothalian culture, I decided to wear Mandalorian armor like Mandalorians would do for their wedding." He said.
Sabine smiled and could feel happy tears in the corner of her eyes; she blinked rapidly to prevent tears from escaping her eyes. She took a deep breath to recompose herself and extended her hand and he took it.
"Let's do this, shall we?" The Mandalorian asked.
The young man moved their joined hands to his mouth and kissed the back of her hand tenderly. "Let's do it." He said.
They turned around and walked to where Rhyder and Ursa were standing since they were going to officiate the two ceremonies.
After a small speech from Rhyder and Jacen bringing the rings, the part everyone had been anticipating had arrived: the exchange of rings and vows.
Ezra grabbed Sabine's hand with his free hand while the other held the ring securely in his palm. "Sabine, when I met you, there were only two things I thought that day, the first was 'she's going to kill me,'" He said, earning chuckles from Sabine, Clan Wren and the Ghost crew and continued talking. "And the second was 'she's the most beautiful girl in the galaxy'." Sabine's smile widen and had to lower her head so no one could see her blush. "Back on those early days, all I wanted to do was to call your attention but now I realize I only liked you for your looks and not for who you are but I'm glad you ignored my awkward attempts tat flirting because that helped me to get to know you better. I thought my boyhood crush for you would disappeared but it only became stronger and I realized I was in love with you but for the sake of our friendship, I decided to keep those feelings buried. Sabine, you're the most amazing woman I've ever met, you're strong, brave and independent but you are also loving, you care so much for other people and you are very talented and I'm happy to spend the rest of my life with you." He said and slipped the ring on her finger, then, he looked into her eyes.
"Sabine Wren, with this ring, I, Ezra Bridger, give you my heart and my soul and I promise to be the man you won't regret to have as husband as well as the best father I can be for our kids, I also promise that I'll never leave your side again. I love you and I always will even when I become one with the Force." He said.
Sabine had to blink rapidly to prevent the tears from escaping her eyes a second time and she took a deep breath to steady herself, then, she took the ring with her free hand and held it securely in her palm. "Ezra, when we met, I was a broken shell of who I really am; I didn't trust anyone and I had put up thousands of walls around me so no one could hurt me again but then you came and managed to tear down all those walls I had put up. When you first came on board the Ghost, you were a smartass and a street punk and I thought you would never change." She said and earned chuckles from Ezra and the guests. "But as the years went by, I saw how much you had grown up and matured and started to enjoy your company. When you disappeared, I lost my best friend but I also lost a piece of my heart. I can't exactly say when I fell in love with you but I can tell you this Ez; you are the only person who I can be myself with, you showed me what true love really means. When I'm with you, I feel happy, secure and loved and I know that will never change because you love me unconditionally and I'm happy to spend the rest of my life with you." She said.
Then, she slipped the ring on his finger and looked into his royal blue eyes. "Ezra Bridger, with this ring, I, Sabine Wren, give you my heart and my soul and I promise to be the woman you won't regret to have as wife as well as the best mother I can be for our kids. I love you Ezra and you can be sure that not even death will stop me from loving you." She said.
Rhyder smiled and looked at Ursa. "Countess." He said.
Ursa nodded and came forward. "Thank you, Governor Azadi." She said, then, she looked between her daughter and her soon-to-be son-in-law.
"As Mandalorians, we are taught from early age that the Jedi are our most ancient and grater enemies, however, my daughter has taught me that not all Jedi are bad." She said and looked at the guests. "Thanks to Master Jarrus and young Bridger, I was able to recover my daughter and my husband and for that, Clan Wren will always be grateful to them. I must say that the idea of having a Jedi in our Clan never crossed my mind but young Bridger here has proven to be a formidable warrior and I could not ask for a better husband for my daughter." She said before turning her attention to Ezra. "Ezra Bridger, it is my pleasure to welcome you to Clan Wren. And to conclude this beautiful ceremony, let's listen to the most solemn vows that a Mandalorian can say and that will unite them for the rest of their life." She said and everyone stayed quiet to hear the Mandalorian wedding vows.
"Are you ready for the next part, Jedi?" Sabine asked as they held hands.
"More than ready." Ezra said with the dorky smile she loved so much.
"Alright, repeat after me, then."
He nodded.
"Mhi solus tome, mhi solus dar'tome, mhi me'dinui an, mhi ba'juri verde." They said in unison. "We are one when we are together, we are one when we are apart, we will share all, we will raise warriors."
"Sabine Wren-Bridger, Ezra Wren-Bridger, we now pronounce you husband and wife." Ursa said as Rhyder smiled in the background.
Ezra and Sabine sealed their union with a long but romantic kiss as a chorus of applause and cheering started but for the newly-weds, the world only existed for them.
A couple of minutes later, Ezra had changed into more comfortable clothes for the party and as per Lothalian tradition, the newly-weds had to dance with their respective parents (the bride would dance with her father and the groom would dance with his mother), before they had their first dance as husband and wife. The Lothalian musicians started to play a slow, sweet tune indicating that it was time for the dance.
Sabine and Ezra shared a loving look before he stood up and walked to the table where their Ghost family was sitting as Alrich came to their table.
"Ad'ika, may have this dance?" He asked and extended his hand.
"Of course, dad." Sabine said and took her father's hand and he led her to the dance floor.
Ezra walked closer to the table where Hera, Jacen, Zeb and Kallus were sitting.
"Mom, may I have this dance?" He asked as he extended his hand in front of Hera.
Hera gave him a bright smile. "I'd be honored, hun." She said and took his hand, then, he led her to the dance floor and they began to dance slow and steady.
"It seems Ezra's dance lessons are paying off." Alrich said as he glanced at his son-in-law.
"Yes. He's always been a fast learner." Sabine said with a loving smile on her face.
"I'm so proud of both of you." Hera said.
Ezra chuckled and gave her a shy smile. "Thanks, Hera." He said.
"And I know Kanan is too. He always suspected something else was going between you two." She said.
"I guess my patience payed off." He said and twirled her around.
After dancing for a while with Hera, Ezra hugged her and thanked her before walking to where Alrich and Sabine were dancing.
"Excuse me, Mr. Wren?" The young man asked. "But, may I have this dance with your daughter?" He asked.
Alrich and Sabine nodded. "Of course." He said and kissed Sabine on her cheek before stepping back and allowing Ezra to take Sabine's hand.
They stopped and turned to one another, then, he wrapped his arms around his waist while she wrapped her arms around his neck and they started to dance.
"You look beautiful." He said. "And I like the color of the dress. Did you wear orange just for me?" He asked with a teasing smile on his face.
The Mandalorian rolled her eyes playfully. "It's not orange, Ezra. It's a deep shade of coral." She answered.
"Are you giving me art lessons at our own wedding?" He asked teasingly.
She shook her head but smiled nevertheless. "You're an idiot." She said.
The young man chuckled. "But you love me." He said.
"I do." She said.
He smiled and rested his forehead against hers and continued dancing. Sabine sighed happily and closed her eyes enjoying the music and the sensation of Ezra's hands on her waist.
"I love you, Sabine." He said softly.
"I love you too, Ezra." She said and leaned up to kiss him on the lips, then, she rested her head on his shoulder.
She didn't know how long they danced and she didn't care. Sabine never saw herself getting married or settling down when she was younger but after everything she and her families went through, having a peaceful life for the rest of her life didn't sound so bad and spending it with the man she loved sounded even better.
