Time: Continued From Last Chapter (Jaya POV)
Right now, Jaya was not in her element. She was the mighty primordial of the Earth after all, and even though she may live in the sky, fighting there was an entirely different ball game. Her earthly abilities were almost completely negated by the fact she was…I dunno, maybe floating thousands of feet above the ground. Yeah, she couldn't make earthquakes if there was no earth to quake. She couldn't control magma, if the magma was completely out of her reach. She couldn't- Jaya took a deep breath, she was just nervous, she reassured herself, the fight was going to go fine.
"You alright there, mom?" from beside her, Rattus gave her a concerned look.
Jaya nodded uncertainly, "Yeah, I guess," she replied wearily, "I'm just not that comfortable being essentially reduced to a power spear user with no other abilities."
Rattus laughed, "Don't worry about that," he said, "I've got your back!"
Jaya was unsure if he was being serious or just trying to make her feel better. She hoped he had her back, Rattus was a powerful immortal of the sky, and his abilities were going to be supercharged on their battlefield. As she looked out her husband's sky chariot, she saw their enemy. And, when she did, she may have secretly prayed to Lord Dimensius to give her strength.
Hummerterra should consider changing his name to Humming-terror. The beast was absolutely ginormous, his wings were so large they seemed to cover the entire sky. It reminded Jaya of the stormy weather clouds generated from Gidorah's bad mood. Not only was Hummerterra terrifying large, he was ridiculously fast and agile. Jaya knew that the sky chariot could move well past the speed of sound and yet even it, was having some trouble keeping up with the bird on steroids. Hummerterra also possessed some of the most scary looking weaponry on any of the Beasts of Destruction. His talons were the size of cars, no doubt easily able to rip apart any kind of structure that Midgard had built. His beak, was the size of a small fighter jet and from it, Hummerterra let out a piercing screech of war.
The army of Heaven began to mobilize, legions upon legions of warrior angels began to soar towards their target, various kinds of bows, spears and swords raised for attack. Following them, were the mighty bird-men soldiers, they fought with heavier weaponry such as clubs and war hammers. They flew slower than their angelic counterparts, but they clearly looked like they were capable of dealing much more damage. Finally, the army of griffins made their move. The lion-eagle hybrids did not need any form of handheld armaments, instead relying on their naturally sharp beaks and claws, that were designed to kill.
As the army reached their target, Jaya noticed Hummerterra begin to fly away, seemingly trying to escape.
"After him!" Rattus called to the army from beside her.
And after him they went. As the thousands of Heaven soldiers chased the cloud sized bird at supersonic speeds, Jaya couldn't help bust burst out giggling at the ridiculousness of the situation.
Rattus raised an eyebrow, "What's funny, mother?" he asked seriously.
At his tone, Jaya immediately sobered up, "Nothing! Don't worry about it!" she said, flashing him a reassuring grin.
"Ooook then…" Rattus said unconvinced, but let the subject drop.
Suddenly, the dark shape of the evil phoenix made a sharp turn. It let out an ear-splitting shriek, before charging directly at his assailants.
"Shit." Rattus mumbled as they watched Hummerterra split the entire army down the middle.
"Flank him!" Jaya called desperately to the panicking army, "Goddamn flank him!"
Somehow, someway, the army responded quickly to her commands and began to move to the sides of the great bird. When Hummerterra made his move again, the army was prepared. As he charged down the middle, all the soldiers flew swiftly to the side and out of the bird's reach. Then, once in position, they launched their assault. Melee weapon wielding soldiers charged towards Hummerterra's wings, trying to break them off the bird's body. Ranged weapon wielding soldiers performed the same strategy, only from the safety of distance and with the trade-off of less damage being dealt.
"We're winning, mother!" Rattus seemed to be giddy with excitement.
"Perhaps," Jaya looked thoughtful, "We should join in on the action." she replied, equally as excited.
Rattus nodded enthusiastically, before directing the chariot towards Hummerterra. The dark phoenix appeared to be actually injured from the attack. It wasn't moving as fast as it was before, and Jaya could also see some blood stain the midnight black feathers of his wing. Jaya prepared her spear, feeling the strength of a primordial flow through her blood.
She turned to Rattus, "Ready?" she asked her son.
Rattus grinned, before nodding affirmatively.
Jaya launched the spear, using as much force as possible towards Hummerterra. From beside her, she heard the concentrated grunt of Rattus as he called upon the power of the sky. Her spear, which was already moving hundreds of kilometres an hour, suddenly broke the sound barrier as it was carried by a powerful draft of Rattus's wind. But the Titan of the Sky seemingly wasn't done yet, as Jaya noticed a white hot bolt of lightning streak its way towards the tail of the sky.
The powerful spear struck the bird at about the same time as the scorching bolt of lightning did. The effect was instantaneous: An insanely blindingly bright, white explosion from Hummerterra forced Jaya to cover her eyes. The dark phoenix let out an intense cry of pain from the severity of the attack and dropped from the sky, out of view.
Yes, Jaya thought, if Hummerterra had indeed fallen to the ground, then he would surely lose. Not only would the bird be out of his preferred domain, he would be entering the realm of the Earth, where Jaya reigned supreme. She could easily trap him there, where she was confident that she could finish her off with a variety of different abilities.
Unfortunately, it would seem, luck was not on their side. As, a couple moments after Hummerterra disappeared, Jaya heard an angry shriek and the sight of a burning ball coming at them from the distance. This burning ball as it turned out, was actually the dark phoenix, who, had ignited his entire body in flames.
Immediately, before anyone could react, Hummerterra beat his massive wings in the direction of the Heavenly army. From the action, a huge gust of wind carried a huge flame, causing what resembled a fiery tornado of direction towards the legions.
"Get out the way!" Jaya shouted desperately towards the scrambling troops.
But it was no use as the massive fire tornado destroyed a significant portion of the west side of the army. Hummerterra looked at Jaya directly in the eye after the attack, smugness clearly present in his expression. The dark phoenix's eyes and body looked to be entirely engulfed in flames, his aura emitting a raw anger Jaya had never felt before. Despite this, Jaya also noticed the many scars on his wings from the attacks of the army, as well as the huge scorch mark from Rattus and her's tag team attack.
This observation definitely began to give her hope. She could call in her sacred weapon, her apple green bow: Nature's Wrath. And together with the combined power of it, plus what remained of the Heavenly army as well as her son, the Titan of the Sky, she believed they could bring down the flaming behemoth in front of her.
It was just going to be a whole lot harder than she had originally thought.
(Hydros POV)
Hydros returned to the ongoing battle with Burke filled with a new sense of power. The primordial of sea could feel a new found connection with his element, seemingly able to control every molecule of H2O on the planet. He knew that this power was probably going to come in handy when going against the laser shooting rock giant.
The voice of his nephew, Loki, snapped him out of his thoughts, "You're back, Lord Hydros?"
Hydros gave a curt nod, offering no further explanations.
Loki, fortunately, understood Hydros's message and did not press the matter further, "Sorry for your loss." he said respectfully, "And… you're glowing, milord?"
Hydros was surprised by this, "I am?" he asked uncertainly.
The Titan of Ice nodded in confirmation, "Yes," he replied, "A vibrant aqua blue colour"
"Huh." was Hydros's simple reply, before swiftly summoning his golden trident and charging towards the rampaging rock giant.
Burke's laugh shook the earth as he shrugged off attacks from more Jotrunion and Atlantian troops. "Many pests shall die tonight!" he growled as he swatted away another legion of trident wielding mer-people soldiers.
All of a sudden, an icy blast of water struck the giant directly in the eye, momentarily blinding the great beast. "AAARGH!" he yelled angrily at the assault, "Who dares?!"
Hydros used the water molecules in the air to lift him onto the same level as Burke's eye. He crossed his arms and raised his eyebrow in a 'come at me, bro' way, "Me." he said calmly, "You one-eyed freak."
Burke, it seemed, did not take kindly to the 'one-eyed freak' comment. He immediately fired a large red laser beam at Hydros which blasted the primordial off his watery pedestal and caused him to slam into the ground, body smoking from the heat of the attack.
This only made Hydros angrier, and all he saw was red as he forced the water molecules to propel him towards the rock giant's single eye. Burke fired another laser at the speeding primordial bullet but Hydros was ready this time and deflected it easily to one side with his trident. Unfortunately, although the laser didn't do any damage to him this time, it did knock him slightly off course and he plunged the trident just left of Burke's eye. Nevertheless, Burke was still injured significantly by this action, evidenced by his scream of pain and stomping of the ground in frustration.
Hydros allowed the water to move him back so he was eye level with the great beast. "Let's try this one again." he growled threateningly towards Burke.
Burke sneered in response and began to heat his eye up, in preparation for a more powerful laser beam. Hydros, had no intention of blocking the beam this time and wanted to blast right through it. The sea primordial began to call his strength from his domain: the waters and focused it into a single, deadly blue beam.
The two powerhouses unleashed their 'final attacks' at the same time. The connection of the two attacks was unbelievably brilliant, causing a clash of power which was bright enough to be seen from space. For a brief moment, it seemed, as the blue and red beam struck each other, the entire Antathelus battlefield ceased their fighting in order to watch the clash of abilities.
But, as amazing as it was to witness, it ended soon after it begun. Hydros's blue beam quickly overpowered Burke's laser and smashed all the way through to the rock giant's singular eye. The Beast of Destruction's eye was completely destroyed, and along with it, it seemed the entire monster as well. Burke did not scream in pain. No. Instead, the giant fell onto his knees with a sickening thud, and then fell forward, emphatically defeated by the sea primordial. This was the unofficial signal for the rest of the Antathelus battlefield soldiers to continue their war.
As Hydros lifted his trident in victory, he heard the cheering of the Atlantian and Jotrunion soldiers below him. Despite his happiness at the defeat of Burke, his heart still felt hollow. He knew that it was probably because he couldn't celebrate his win with Galleem, which then led him to start thinking about her death.
This only made the rage inside of him build, and as he looked across at the remaining Beasts of Destruction, he realized more work needed to be done. Judgement day had arrived, he told himself, and he was the executioner.
(Hell POV)
Hell took a good look at the massive terror raptor, Bedforward. He silently laughed to himself as he watched his Underworld soldiers skilfully avoided the massive blows being dealt by the various swinging dinosaur limbs. But, Hell knew that, despite the amusingness of the situation, the Beast of Destruction needed to be dealt with by heavier firepower to penetrate through its heavy armour.
So, the primordial of Hell turned to his greatest soldiers: the winged demons, who he had ordered to charge at Bedforward just a few moments prior, "Let's try to burn through the creature's armour." he commanded.
The demons were more than happy to comply, as their eyes began to glow a bright orange, signalling their focusing on their fire abilities. Sure enough, a few moments later, brilliant pillars of hellfire began to dance their way over to Bedforward's colossal legs.
Unfortunately for the demons and Hell, it seemed that they had severely underestimated the durability of the armour plates covering the raptor's entire body. As the walls of hellfire reached their target, Bedforward seemed to just shrug off the heat, before casually swinging his massive tail like a club towards the advancing demon army. The larger demons lacked the mobility the smaller soldiers of the Underworld army, which meant they took the full force of the tail swing. Think of the result being what a championship batsman does to a baseball during a home run swing. Yeah, Hell realized, they were going to need more power…
"Seems like we might have to raise the intensity in here, milord." Umbra called to Hell, apparently coming to the same realization as the primordial.
Hell nodded and through away his trident to summon his sacred weapon: a staff with a skull on the end by the name of Bane. The primordial raised his death staff, the eyes on the skull growing an earthy brown colour as the earth began to shake under his power.
The sudden shaking of the earth caught Bedforward completely off guard, forcing the raptor to stumble onto his stomach. This worked extensively in the Underworld army's favour, as the great beast fell directly onto the hellfire the demons had generated. Seeing this opportunity, Hell quickly focused his staff so that the skull's eyes glowed fiery orange, raising the intensity of the fires by a lot.
This time, Bedforward felt the attack. The raptor shrieked in pain before jumping swiftly to his feet, the armour plates on his entire underside had been burnt off, revealing soft fleshy skin underneath. A perfect target to aim for, Hell realized, as he met the rage filled eyes of the raptor's glare.
Hell felt confident in pressing his attack upon the raptor, so he turned to his troops: "Charge forward!" he called, "Aim for the belly if you can, it's the raptor's biggest weakness at the moment."
The Underworld army wasted no time in following the primordial's commands to a tee, keen to destroy they seemed to be.
"They're out for dinosaur blood, eh?" Umbra joked, before raising his spear and joining the attack.
Hell shook his head, laughing at the younger immortal's ridiculous sense of humour, before raising his death staff and following him into battle.
The Underworld army, led by Hell and Umbra immediately forced Bedforward onto the defensive. They were in complete control, avoiding the raptor's wild swings in perfect rhythm, and continually forcing him back with their own counter attacks. While the skeletons and ghouls acted as simple pests for the ginormous beast, the winged demons combined with the 2 immortals repeated strikes on the raptors exposed underside was surely dealing serious damage.
As the raptor swung his massive claw on his leg towards the ground, Hell caused a crack where it would land which would force Bedforward's claw to become stuck in the ground. A perfect opportunity to strike!
"Let's give him a bit of darkness!" Hell told Umbra, raising his glowing black eyed staff in preparation, the younger immortal also following suit with his spear.
But before either immortal could unleash what would surely be the finishing blow, they were stopped. Bedforward's mouth had started to glow the same colour as his eyes, and the raptor suddenly let forth a mighty stream of acid from his mouth.
The sheer amount of the substance was enough to destroy any soldier in its vicinity, which was quite a lot. And, also managed to knock both Hell and Umbra off of their feet.
"Ew." Umbra groaned, trying desperately to get rid of the disgusting substance from his body.
Hell shook his head, "We have bigger problems to worry about" he replied, concern in his voice.
Sure enough, as the two immortals began to survey the damage dealt to their army, they discovered that it was way worse than they had originally predicted. The acidic vomit from Bedforward had eradicated more than 75% of all the ghouls and skeletons, and over 1/3 of all the winged demons.
"Shit." Hell muttered as he noticed the raptor's mouth begin to glow horrifyingly green again.
"GET OUT THE GODDAMN WAY!" Umbra yelled in desperation towards the army.
But, Hell realized, it was no use. As the toxic green acid began to erupt from Bedforward's mouth, the primordial had no doubt that another huge part of his army was about to be hit.
Time almost seemed to move in slow motion as the acid began to make its way towards the helpless Underworld soldiers, when suddenly the green liquid stopped. Just stopped. In mid-air!
Hell whipped his head around, and settled on the advancing figure of Hydros. The primordial of the Sea had his hand raised, seemingly stopping the acid in mid-air with some kind of water control. His entire body was glowing an ocean blue colour, he looked like he came straight out of a Terminator movie or something…
Bedforward must have been just as shocked at Hydros's display of power as Hell was, because the oversized raptor stood there completely frozen, green eyes wide in fear. In fact, he didn't start moving again until after Hydros redirected the acid right back into his face.
As the acid met its target, it instantly burned off Bedforward's armour on his face. The raptor screamed in utter pain, wanting to use his acidic attack again, but too scared to because of the presence of the water primordial.
Hydros seemed to revel in the dinosaur's fear of him, as he used water molecules to propel him right in front of the raptor's face, golden trident raised threateningly.
"You are right to fear me, beast!" Hydros said condescendingly to his enemy.
Bedforward made absolutely no response, staring at the water primordial with wide, fearful eyes.
At this, Hydros smirked triumphantly, "You're execution is mine to deliver!" he yelled before pointing his trident at the raptor's head. A brilliant blue jet of power exploded from the tip of the water primordial's trident, connecting directly with Bedforward's face.
The raptor's entire head was blasted off from the degree of the attack, completely defeated as he fell to the ground.
Hell was absolutely shocked, "What the fuck just happened?!" he asked in disbelief to no one in particular.
"Yep" Loki chuckled, the Titan had appeared from seemingly nowhere, "That's what he does now." he remarked jokingly.
"It's really impressive to watch" apparently Oceanus had also decided to join their little group discussion.
Before Hell could get a word in however, he was interrupted by the thud from Hydros making a smooth landing besides them.
"That was incredible, dude!" Umbra exclaimed in awe.
Hydros raised an eyebrow and crossed his arms, "Judgement day has just begun." he replied ominously, "There are still more that remain on my to-kill list." The water primordial was quick in his reply, before flying off towards the direction of the next Beast of Destruction: Hummerterra.
"Hate to be on his to-kill list, right guys?…" Hell said jokingly to the immortals after Hydros left.
(Jaya POV)
Hummerterra was one stubborn son of a bitch. Jaya must have blasted the damn bird about a million damn times with Nature's Wrath, and still the bird remained in the sky, surrounded by his fiery shield. At this point, he seemed to be teasing her, his expression totally smug and triumphant. It was almost as if he was telling her telepathically, "Even your greatest weapon cannot defeat me."
A large, sizzling, white bolt of lightning struck Hummerterra's wing, but unfortunately, the attack had no effect upon his force field. From besides Jaya, Rattus groaned disappointingly, "Nothing?!" he asked exasperatedly, "That's one of the strongest I can do!"
Hummerterra turned towards the frustrated immortals, he had almost finished destroying the majority of the Heavenly army and was eying his next target. He opened his huge, silver beak and unleashed a ridiculous torrent of smouldering flames at Rattus and Jaya.
Any defence the sky chariot was equipped with was utterly useless in this situation, as within seconds, the entire vehicle was in flames.
"Abandon ship!" Jaya yelled in desperation, "Catch me, Rattus, I can't fly!"
Rattus nodded vigorously, "Of course, mom!"
Jaya took the leap of faith out the side of the chariot, and felt herself begin to plummet towards the ground. I mean, technically it wouldn't hurt her that much, seeing as she is an immortal. But, it was a long way back up, and she didn't want to leave Rattus to face the demon bird alone.
She felt herself suddenly stop falling as Rattus's arm wrapped themselves around her, the Titan of the Sky successfully completing his catch. Jaya made her way onto his back and into a piggyback before gesturing Rattus to move towards Hummerterra.
The dark phoenix was completely prepared for this though, and immediately launched a huge wave of fire at the advancing immortals. Rattus swerved desperately, almost dropping Jaya in the process, just to try to avoid the fiery attack. But, Jaya knew that it was useless, they were never going to make it in time. She closed her eyes, and braced herself for a painful impact…
That never came. Jaya turned, confused, to be met with the most incredible sight she had ever seen. A tremendous wall of water, one large enough to engulf all of Hummerterra's flames, had completely stopped the phoenix's assault. And, at the centre of it all, was Hydros, the primordial of the Sea was glowing a blue colour, his hand raised in order to control the water.
"Impossible" Jaya breathed softly, in absolute disbelief.
Hummerterra seemed to agree, as the bird was frozen in shock. Suddenly, Hydros made a pushing motion with his hands and all the fire engulfed inside the water slammed hard into the phoenix.
This immediately snapped Hummerterra out of his daze, and he tried to retaliate against Hydros with another plume of flames. Alas, this only resulted in the same thing happening, as Hydros completely stopped the fire and sent it ricocheting back at the bird. The primordial of the Sea immediately took this chance to launch his counterattack and through his trident right between Hummerterra's eyes. This, dropped the dark phoenix right out of the sky.
"He's not dead yet, Jaya." Jaya immediately whipped her head around at the mention of her name, "You two." Hydros called, "Let's finish big bird brains off."
The three immortals, with Hydros in the lead followed right on Hummerterra's tail as they made their rapid descent towards the ground. See, when a large object falls from a high place, the amount of force behind the landing is always ridiculous. So, when Hummerterra, a cloud-sized phoenix slammed into the earth at terminal velocity, it was like a meteorite just crashed.
Quickly, Jaya worked on restraining Hummerterra inside the crater he created with various types of vegetation and tree roots. She then called all the species of fauna within the area to attack the body of the great bird, who had since dropped his fiery shield after Hydros's attack.
She turned to the two immortals at her side, "Ready, boys?" she asked, aiming her bow in preparation.
Rattus pointed his sword and Hydros his trident at Hummerterra, "Yes, ma'am" they both replied in perfect unison.
The already dying phoenix was then hit with a large bolt of white hot lightning, a glowing green arrow bolt and an ocean blue coloured power beam. Apparently, this was slightly overkill, as Hummerterra was turned into a pile of ashes right after the three immortals had finished unleashing their power.
"Thanks Hy-" Jaya turned to her saviour, only to find him beginning to glow brighter and brighter and coughing frantically.
"I *cough* don't feel *cough* so-" Hydros managed to get out, before disappearing in a bright blue flash. No. Flash was an understatement, it was more like an incredibly focused explosion that seemed to create shockwaves that shook the entire universe.
A/N - Happy New Year's! Welcome to 2020 people, sorry for the slow updates, I'm on holiday lol. Slight cliff-hanger, I know, I'll try to get next chapter out quicker I guess. Remember to leave a review, and thanks for reading.
