Between Borders
There was no end in sight. Demons were coming by the hundreds. If someone became too tire, they would die. Rin wanted to help but didn't know how. Her father had a firm grip on her arm, preventing her from moving. Jiro left, even with Rin plea not to. He was beaten by their brother and she feared he didn't have the strength to fight long.
She turned to her father, "There must be something we can do?"
He shook his head, "You will just be in the way."
Before she would have listened to whatever her father said, but after her experience she knew she couldn't just stand by.
"I'm sorry."
Her father was confused and was about to speak before she yanked her arm away from him. His grip was firm that she did feel his nail slide across her skin, but she didn't care. Once she was free, she ran out. She barely heard her father pleading her to come back.
There was so much chaos, she could hardly focus on one fight. The demons were so fast, and they easily were able to pick off the humans. From a distance she saw Jiro barely holding off an insect demon with a battered sword he must've pick up from a fallen soldier. She was about to run to him when she saw a serpent demon quickly flying towards her. She barely had time to react, there was no way to escape. Before she could react a glowing arrow quickly flew pass her and disintegrated the demon in front of her.
"Are you okay?"
She turned around and saw that it was Kagome that saved her. Shippo quickly jumped off the priestess and ran to Rin. He jumped in her arms and she easily caught him.
"I'm glad you are safe."
She smiled at him, "I am too," She turned her attention towards the priestess, "Thank you."
"It was no problem, but it isn't safe here. Why are you out here?"
Rin frowned, "I wanted to help… but I guess it is useless for me."
She felt a hand on her shoulder, "I understand, but being in harm's way will distract those that are trying to protect you."
She knew it was silly to think she could make a difference, "I'm sorry."
Kagome smiled at her softly, "Don't be, your heart is in the right place."
Before anymore could be said an ogre appeared in front of them. Kagome drew an arrow, but before she could unleashed it a giant boomerang slice through the demon. They looked up to see the demon slayer Sango on top of her feline companion and on the cat was the monk Miroku as well. They flew passed quickly after the demon was destroyed.
"It's not safe here. Shippo will be by your side. Can you keep her safe?"
Shippo jumped down and raised his right arm. "Leave it to me."
"Be safe," She said to them both before running back into the mass of demons and humans.
"We should find a place to hide for now," She said to Shippo.
"You must be the special human we heard so much about."
Rin turned and saw three demons. They were different then the horde, they were like Sesshomaru. They could easily be mistaken for humans, except for their ears which were pointed instead of round. Their eyes were very catlike which easily screamed evil intent. She knew she was in a very dangerous situation right now.
She decided to try to stall in hopes of coming up with a plan, "You've heard of me?"
The taller woman grinned, "You are Sesshomaru's pet. Are you not? I was quiet surprise to hear that he has a human tagging along. He sees them as inferiors. So, what is it about you that is different?"
She was surprise to hear his name, "Ho-How do you know about him?"
The younger girl giggled, "Awww, look at that face. She is so in love. Her naivety is so adorable."
The taller woman closed her eyes as she smiled, "You are delusion. Someone like you cannot catch a demon like him. There is something that we are missing here."
Hearing those words voice out did made her self-conscious. She was aware that she and Sesshomaru was not meant to be, but it hurt knowing this. Before she could respond Shippo jumped out of her hand.
"Run," Shippo was in front of her growling at the strangers.
"The little fox wants to play," The big man finally spoke as he took a step forward.
"No Shūran," No woman ordered.
The big man looked annoyed, "Why Tōran? This little brat needs to learn his lesson."
"We have orders. You get the girl. Shunran you deal with the little fox."
"No! I will go with you just please leave him alone, he is just a kid," Rin stepped forward.
"No Rin! Kagome said for me to protect you."
Rin looked down at him and smiled, "It is not worth it if you get hurt."
"Oh, isn't that sweet," Tōran mocked, "but our orders are to get you unharmed. Anyone else is fair game."
Before she could respond the big man got in front of her quickly and all she felt was a sharp pain behind her neck before all went black.
Damn it! There was no end in sight. Jiro was barely able to get by defeating a few small demons, but their numbers are killing them. He briefly saw Rin in the midst of the chaos but could not get to her as she quickly disappeared from view. His lungs burned with the exertion; however, he could not rest as it would be the end of him. His vision was blurry as a giant centipede speeded towards him. His arms felt like lead. He knew this would be the end, he had no energy to continue. As he resigned to his fate the centipede disintegrated in front him. A priestess was behind the demon.
She ran to him, "Are you okay?"
Upon closer inspection he knew who she was, "Who had a little fox demon."
She nodded, "Shippo. He is with Rin now."
The name of his sister brought back some energy, "Is she okay!?"
"She was when we parted ways."
This gave him some relief.
"NO!"
The shout of a young child brought their attention, "That sounded like Shippo," She said in concern.
Both looked around to find the source of the cry when they spotted three humans? No, not humans though they appear like one. One that looked like a young girl grabbed on Shippo's tail lifting him up. The big man had Rin over his shoulder.
"Oh, no Rin," Jiro quickly made his way to them barely avoiding the fights taking place. He didn't bother to look back if the priestess was following him.
The tall woman turned to him as he made his way to them. She smirks, "Oh look, someone is trying to be a hero."
He raised his sword to her, "Let her go."
The tall woman laughed, "Oh what's that batter thing going to do?"
He didn't know, but it was better than nothing. Before he could act a light flew pass him quickly. The one holding Shippo quickly let go as it was aimed at her. She jumped back as the arrow flew pass her annihilating any demon in its path.
"The next one won't miss."
"Kagome!" Shippo ran and hugged her, "I'm sorry I wasn't strong enough."
She patted his head, "I know you try your best."
"Let my sister go," Jiro continued again.
This got the tall woman attention, "Oh, so you are her brother. Unfortunately, she got the attention of a very wicked demon."
"What are you talking about?" What happen to Rin in the demon land?
"It really doesn't matter as you will be dead soon," She ran towards him fast he knew there was no way to block or evade it, but he must try for Rin's sake.
She was close enough for a lethal blow. He was ready, but before she could strike a strong wind made impact on her, which led her to fly sideways. The noise of impact was loud.
Jiro eyes widen in surprise… what just happen?
"You cats are annoying," In front of him was a young man that looks about his age, but he wasn't. His piercing eyes and pointed ears gave him away.
Her companions growled at the newcomer, "How dare you insult us like that," The young one said.
The newcomer stared at them and pointed, "Let her go. My mate has grown fond of her and I'll be damn if you break her heart."
"You want her? Come and get her!" He gave the unconscious Rin to the young girl, "Quick take her to Naraku."
"Oh no you don't," His speed was like a tornado, "He quickly made his way to them and kicked the guy who plummeted off the wall. He spun and made contact with the girl who release her hold of Rin as she too fell off the wall.
Before Jiro could shout the man caught Rin effortless in his arms. Jiro lifted his sword, "Release her."
The man just gave him a cold stare that unnerved him, but he was not going to let it show.
"Who are you?"
Before Jiro could answer Shippo got in his way, "Wait. This is Koga, leader of the wolf demon tribe."
"Hey, wait you're that fox that hang around the mutt," He said in recognition.
Jiro grinded his teeth. All this mean little to him. Another demon has his sister and he'll be damn if he let her get away, "I don't care who or what you are. I will not let you have my sister."
"Sister?" He stared for a moment, "Oh you got it all wrong. I came here to save Rin, not abduct her."
"Why should I believe you?" This demon is lying. There is no reason for him wanting to save her, "She won't be your food."
That statement shocked him, "Food?" He laughed, "Sure, if I want a death wish."
The demon is starting to get on his nerve. He felt a hand on his shoulder and saw Kagome behind him, "He seem to want to help."
He stared at her in disbelief, "You are a priestess. Are you seriously going to believe him?"
"Rin!" Voices shouted.
The group looked at the newcomers. It was his brother, father, and Takemaru.
"Demon, let go of my sister," Shuichi demanded.
"Jiro, how did you let this happen?" His father demanded.
Takemaru was next to his brother, both raised their swords.
The demon smirk, "she is sure one popular girl."
"There is a misunderstanding," Kagome stated.
"There is no misunderstanding. Now demon hand her over!" Shuichi all but shouted.
Before any action was taken a strong blast was above them. Jiro was shocked to see that it destroyed every demon in the area.
"What the hell…" Shuichi stated.
That blast was not normal, and he knew no human could make that.
"Koga…"
Rin was up and she called the demon by name…
Ooooo
The bright light slowly brough Rin to consciousness. She looked up and was confused to see Koga holding her. Then it hit her. The demons that try to kidnap her.
Koga smirk, "Welcome back."
Still laying in his arms she asked, "What happen?"
"Some cats wanted to abduct you, but they were no match."
"Let her go demon!"
The voice of her father made her realize exactly where she was. She quickly got off of Koga, but her balance was still weak.
"Easy now. You don't want to fall."
"Demon, we will ask one more time to release her," Takemaru ordered.
Realization hit her, "Wait he is a friend."
"Rin are you delusional? All demons are creatures of destruction." Her father stated.
"No father you are wrong. We were all lead to believe that demons are hideous monster with no intelligent, but look at him," She pointed to Koga who was dumfounded, "He look human and he is intelligent."
"Rin sweetie I am not sure what is going on, but please come here so we can talk," He father was gentle with his tone, before that tone would have win her over, but not this time. She experienced too much.
"RIN!" That voice surprise her but also made her happy, before she could react, she was envelope in a hug. He then released her, "don't be an idiot next time," he scolded.
She knew he was just worry for her. She ignored the crowd gathered around them in awe, fear, and confusion, "I'm sorry to have worry you," She turned to Koga, "Thank you Koga for saving me."
He gave her a big grin, "Of course."
"What the hell is going on?" This time it was Jiro.
Rin sighed. She knew she had some explaining to do.
"Inuyasha!" Shippo ran to him. Inuyasha knelt down, "I should be really angry at you."
"Don't blame him."
He looked up, "Kagome…"
Rin smiled, "You should go talk to her."
Inuyasha looked at her and smiled, "and you should go talk to him."
Just then Sesshomaru floated down effortless. She heard people getting restless some readying their weapons to attack, but most too scare or unsure on how to start. She was vaguely aware that her family and Takemaru was ready to attack. Sesshomaru slowly walked over to her. The closer he got the more anxious the people around her got, especially her family. She was surprise they didn't intervene, but someone could be preventing that. She was focus on Sesshomaru to really know. He stood in front of her, both were quiet for a moment. She felt awkward as she could feel the anticipation in the air.
Then he spoke, "You disobey me."
She looked down feeling guilty. She knew her action would displease him, but she felt that it was necessary.
"I know, but-"
She felt his hand on her cheek which stopped her. Her cheeks were fired up and she felt her heart pounding. She should not be this fluster in front of everyone. He leaned closer until his lips were close to hers. This surprise her as he was not one to show public affection. His proximity was too close that everything around her faded.
Ooooo
His lips touch hers. Naraku knew who she was to him now. So, he would stake his claim now. No one would ever touch what was his again. The kiss was short live that he heard a faint whimper from her lips. He smirked. He will make it up to her later.
"NO!" The shout broke the trance.
"How dare you demon!"
"RIN! Come here!"
There were so many voices shouting at once that she could not tell where it was coming from. She did know that she had to break the tension. She turned to her family and saw the look of shock and disbelief. Her father was pale as a ghost, she could see his lips quivering. Takemaru looked angry though he was silence. She could only imagine how the crowd reacted.
"Rin you are under a spell. Come here and we will get someone to release it," Her father finally spoke.
"No father I am not. I know this is a lot to take in."
Shuichi try a gentle approach, "I understand Rin. You needed protection so you became this demon toy. You do not have to fear now."
Rin was too shock at that insult to say anything. Koga and Inuyasha both jumped in front of her, "Say that again and I will remove your head from your body!" Inuyasha shouted.
Rin vaguely heard a growl from Sesshomaru. His was lower than the other two man in front, but she knew he would be the most deadliest if he strike. She had to break this tension.
"Brother please. These are my friends, they helped me a lot."
"There is no way demons and humans can be friends," Jiro finally spoke up, though he seems unsure of where he stands; Rin or his "humanity".
"I thought that too, but there is a lot of things that are untrue about them," She walked up to Inuyasha and Koga. She held both their arms as they look at her in confusion. She could feel Sesshomaru menacing look at her action, but she chose to ignore his possessive nature at the moment, "Both are demons, but look at how similar they are too us. Believe it or not Koga is going to be a father. He has a pregnant wife waiting for him and Inuyasha is the creation of a human and a demon. You see it is possible for us to get along."
She could see that their faces were still in disbelief. It will be hard to break bad habits that lived through centuries.
Finally, Takemaru spoke and she could hear the menace in his voice, "Enough with your foolishness. Demons are great at deceptions. Those forms are meant to put us at ease until they are ready to kill."
She could hear everyone agreeing to this.
"Takemaru is right dear. You haven't been exposed to the world which is why he is a good match for you. So, he can protect your innocent heart," Her father stated.
Sesshomaru was slowly losing his patience with this talk. He could care less. He would rather kill them; they serve no purpose to him. What was stopping him was Rin and Naraku. Rin care for them that's why she disobeyed him and almost got herself killed. He will talk to her about that later. Naraku want these humans and the wall to fall. Sesshomaru would be doing him a favor and he loathe to help that half-breed with anything. Regardless of how Rin felt about these humans that man that want to claim what is his will die. Before Sesshomaru made his move, another voice spoke up.
"There is no need for any more bloodshed here," A man walked in front of a group of his people. Their outfits spoke of them being demon slayers. Sesshomaru heard of these people from his father many years ago. He had mention they were the most competent humans he ever made contact. Even though they were demon slayer they didn't seem ready to attack. Most look distance while other seem fearful.
Good. Being fear was what he always strives for.
"You are demon slayers. You know more about these demons," Takemaru claimed as he had his hand on his sword, ready to draw.
The one that appear to be the leader of the demon slayers nodded, "We have minor information on the demons and their history."
"There is no need for pointless knowledge. Demons need to be vanquished!" An unknown voice shouted. Sesshomaru hardly care about who said that, but if he ever found out then he will give them something to really fear.
"I understand your hostility, but they are here and not attacking. That shows they mean us no harm," The demon slayer leader said.
Rin was feeling anxious now. There were so much hostility in the air. Rin was happy to see them, but after what Sesshomaru did it made her want to crawl in a hole and stay there. She never brought up her demon friends, especially Sesshomaru because she didn't know how to start. With how they and everyone else were behaving she was glad she didn't. Now, however she had to deal with the consequences of Sesshomaru action. She was the only girl in the family which made her father and brothers fiercely protective of her. Witnessing a demon claiming her in that way had to be a huge shock on them.
Hoping to ease the shock she stepped forward, "Please stop there is no need for this."
"Rin stop defending these demons!" She heard her father.
She did not listen, "No I will not! You are blinded by this need to make them your enemy when they are not."
She saw the look of shock on his face, not believing she spoke back to him.
Shuichi stepped in trying a calming approach, "Rin I am not sure what happen to you out there, but we can discuss this some place quiet."
"You don't understand."
"Then please explain… This whole thing makes no sense…" Jiro said quietly. She could tell he was conflicted about the situation. He didn't want to side with his family on this, but he wanted to protect her, and she does appreciate that.
She felt the pressure as everyone was now staring at her. She could easily feel the impatience of the demons and was surprise Koga and Inuyasha didn't rush in to fight.
With so many eyes now on her she blurted, "I'm in love with Sesshomaru!"
There was a collective gasp. Rin didn't want them all to know, but it couldn't be help she need the situation to be calm. She saw her father turned pale and nearly collapsed. Shuichi was close by to catch him; Jiro jaw just drop as he didn't know how to respond. Takemaru however scared her the most. His eyes were burning mad, she feared he will just strike them down now. Sesshomaru felt her uneasiness as he took a step-in front of her and let out a low but deadly growl. This seem to be the breaking point for Takemaru. He charged before anyone could stop him. Sword was unsheathed and he was aiming it at Sesshomaru. The fight however ended very quickly, within a flash Sesshomaru had him pinned to the ground. Claws slowing digging into his neck as he squeezed. There were so much commotion and everyone was now raising their weapons to attack, even the demon slayers.
Rin ran to Sesshomaru ignoring the shouts from her father or brother? She didn't know and hugged the arm that was slowly killing Takemaru.
"Please stop!"
No response. He was focus on his prey. She needed him to snap out of it. She let go of his arm and grabbed his face. This seem to have surprise him as he stopped squeezing though he stilled had his hand around his neck. His eyes slowly soften as he saw her face.
"Please no more. I am yours," She wasn't sure what brought on the fight between them, but she felt like she was part of the reason.
Sesshomaru relented and let go of his neck. He had puncture wounds around his neck, but fortunately it looked like he would be fine. She sighed in relief; she was glad it didn't end badly. She became focus on Sesshomaru making sure he was fine that she didn't notice Takemaru grabbing his sword and went to stab at them. So many things happen at once. She heard shouts from everywhere, she could not distinguish them. At that same time Sesshomaru fingertips were glowing green and she saw an arm falling.
It took her moment to realize who it belongs to, Takemaru let out a painful scream as he knelt down. Blood was pooling on the ground. If it didn't stop, he would bleed to death. She went forward to help.
"Stay away you bitch!"
That stopped her in her tracks. She never heard so much venom from him.
"You sold your soul to a demon and for that you need to be…" the pain was too much for him to continue.
"Bastard! You were the one who did this to yourself!" She heard Inuyasha.
There were many that were now scare and unsure of how to proceed. Some of the men took Takemaru away. Her family looked appalled and fearful. Though for Shuichi he also had anger.
"You bastard!" Her brother screamed drawing his sword.
"Wait brother."
"Stop it Rin. Stop being a child!"
This shock her as he never spoke to her that way. This insult snapped Jiro out of his stupor. He stood between her and their brother.
"Move Jiro. I have no problem striking you down."
"I will not. Are you seriously planning to strike down our sister?"
"Standing in my way means that you are going against us to protect a demon."
Jiro was shock. He has very little connection with his older brother, but assuming he is on the demon side was astonishing. All he cared about was Rin. He couldn't understand why Rin seem close to these demons, but one thing he did know was that she was alive because of them. Before he could respond he saw two demons walking next to him. His instinct told him to get away and strike them, but he noticed that they were not staring at him, but looking at Shuichi, both of their unnatural eyes glaring.
"Hey bastard I'm not sure what your problem is, but humans like you seriously piss me off," The dog-eared demon was already cracking his knuckles ready for a fight.
The other one that looked like he was wearing a wolf pelt growled, "You humans are disgusting. Going against your own family. Rin is a friend of my mate, making her a part of my pack and I will always protect my pack."
Jiro were shock at their words. They defended his sister like they were her older brothers. He saw Shuichi face, full of disbelief.
It quickly went to anger, "How dare you despicable creatures talk to me like that!"
Finally, their father spoke, "Jiro how could you support this behavior? Rin needs help, her mind is not right."
Forgetting about the demons next to him, he glared. There was so much anger he couldn't even voice it out now. The two demons growled at the comment.
"That is enough now," He heard the demon chief said.
Rin couldn't believe what had transpire so far. She never wanted any of this to happen. She still feels guilt for what happen to Takemaru. The way he shouted at her shock her to the core. Sesshomaru grabbed her wrist and brought her closer to him, though nobody notices that due to the commotion that was till going on. She wanted to stop this fighting between her family. She wanted to explain. Though she was ashamed at not having the courage to do so and felt even more guilty that Inuyasha and Koga felt a need to protect her honor. Sesshomaru gripped hasn't soften as he did not let her move away. Though his expression was subtly, he was on high alert. Eyes narrowed as he watched the scene. Rin knew he could have handled the situation quickly, but he didn't. She wasn't sure if it was because they were her family and in hurting them, he would be hurting her? Or if he felt it better to keep her close and away from the many angry faces around them? She was surprise none of them attack, though it could be that they fear her friends as they did not know what they were capable of. She let out a breath she didn't know she was holding when she heard the demon slayer chief telling them to stop.
"That is enough now," His voice carried through.
Shuichi glared at him, "You are a demon slayer, yet you defend these demons?"
"You are mistaken. I am not choosing sides, but your blind hate will lead to more unnecessary bloodshed. This may be hard to believe but accepting these demons aide can be beneficial."
This is when the entire crowd gasp in shock.
Shuichi voiced the crowd disbelief, "Are you kidding me! Aligning ourselves with these things," he pointed at Koga and Inuyasha, "is accepting the fact that we are fodder to them."
"That is a naïve way of thinking," The chief said bluntly.
This drove Shuichi mad, "Why you! And you call yourself human!" He pointed his sword at the chief and this was when the slayers responded. All raised their weapons, ready to defend their leader.
In retaliation the soldiers, even the priests, monks, and priestesses raised their weapons. There will be an all-out war for sure and its against the wrong opponents. Rin didn't understand how all this went so wrong.
The chief raised his arm to stop his people, "That is enough. Fighting amongst ourselves will only weaken us and give our enemies the advantage."
Shuichi lowered his weapon as did everyone else, "Those that affiliate with demons are not our allies," he gave Rin a resign look, almost as if he was saying good-bye. This tore her up and she choke back her cries.
Shuichi gently guided his father away. He was streaming tears, hardly able to walk as they walked further down the wall. Just about everyone followed him. There were a few exceptions. The demon slayers did not move. Miroku the monk and Kagome the priestess were the only other humans beside her and her brother Jiro.
Night has fallen and Takemaru pain became too much he could not sleep. His men plus the priests, priestesses, and monks all left the wall and camp on the ground level of the it. Trees covered the vicinity, but everyone made do. Not long after they made camp, the priests, priestesses, and monks all left on their own for different reasons. They didn't feel the need to stick around as now the wall is compromise and they need to heighten their spiritual energy to defeat this new threat. Takemaru didn't care. He didn't care about the lashing the emperor will give him for failing a long-term mission. He even didn't care about his men; they could do what they wanted. There was only one thing he cared about and that was the demon that took his arm. He could feel phantom pains, like his arm was still there. Looking at his stump made him mad. The men were able to patch him up and prevented him from bleeding out, but this life now prove to be nothing. He felt like less of man.
A white light caught his attention outside of his tent. He then saw a little girl who looked like a spirit. She was as pale as a ghost; her eyes were lifeless, and she held on to a mirror. As he inspected closer, he saw that she wasn't a specter, but real. No human child can look like that. The thought of a demon in human territory infuriated him. He grabbed his sword with his left hand and ran towards the child. The child disappeared. He looked around and saw the men on watch fast asleep. He didn't care. The white light appeared again in the distance. Without a second thought he ran. Once he got close, he saw the girl again, but this time a man was next to her. This man wore the skin of a baboon.
"Takemaru, a pleasure to meet you," The man stated in a tone that would send shiver down any other man spine, but all he felt was rage.
"Who are you? And why are you next to that demon child?"
"My name is Naraku and this child Kanna is a part of me."
Takemaru growled, "That makes you a demon," he held his sword up, "All demons deserve to die!"
Before Takemaru could attack, he was wrapped around tentacles that came from Naraku's body. Naraku laughed, "There is no need for that. I am here to make an offer."
"I do not make deals with demons!"
This did not deter him, "You must feel angry towards the demon that took your arm."
Takemaru glared, "What do you know of this demon?"
"I know the demon has been a thorn to me as he has been to you. If it wasn't for him, you would not have lost your dignity."
His words had some truth to it, and it infuriated him more. He knew he wasn't strong against that demon. This truth was hard to hear. His attention was brought back to Naraku who revealed a unique sword with one hand and an arm in the other.
"I obtained this sword in the pits of hell. It will give you the strength to defeat Sesshomaru. This hand came from a demon that has no use for it anymore and it will become your new right hand. This hand will give you the strength to wield So'unga."
He had every reason to not trust this demon but looking at the sword and demon arm he relish in the new power he can have. A power that will kill those annoying demons. Naraku saw the acceptance in his eyes and release his hold. Naraku held out the two items in front of him. Takemaru grabbed the arm first. He placed it near his stump and was surprise, but excited to see that it had attached itself to him. He moved his arms, hands, and fingers. He smiled, he had full control. He then looked at the sword. He grabbed it with his new demon hand and instantly felt the energy and power from it. Before he could address the demon. Naraku disappeared along with the child.
The last words that were spoken before he vanished, "Do with the sword as you see fit."
Takemaru smiled. He knew exactly what he will do. It must have been awhile since this sword had tasted blood. He looked at the wall, blocking the demon territory. It was time to test his new arm.
I am so sorry for the very long update. It really wasn't my intention. I was keeping myself busy with work and school. I do appreciate anybody that has stuck with me so far. I can't guarantee a quick update but will try to be more regular with it.
I am please with myself on how long I made this chapter, probably my longest chapter ever! This chapter was tense, and I enjoyed it! It was fun trying to clash the different emotions, hopefully I did well. Now as for Takemaru. I originally wasn't planning for him to have a big or important role. I originally had him there for Rin conflicting emotions, but I decided why not? Adding this extra bit of conflict was an idea that came to me through one of my reviewers. This led to a new idea forming and hence now a new unstable enemy.
