Paul watched his wife try to ice skate without success, he tried to guide her as his warm hands engulf hers. Her hands were so small compared to his. How had he ended up with such a wonderful woman like her? Sometimes he wondered why she choose him. Paul rolled his eyes. He had to stop talking down on himself. He knew why she married him. Love. Love covered all things…he had read in the bible once that "love covers a multitude of sins" 1 peter 4:8. While he wasn't a church goer, he did believe in that scripture whole heartedly it seemed like the love Bella had for him covered up all his mistakes. They balanced each other out. He was big and she was small. He was quick to anger while she thought about things. While he was quick on his feet, she was clumsy. Such opposites and yet…so alike. The smell of sugar and bleach reminded him of the red headed female they had in their presence. He looked toward where Victoria sat with a cup of hot cocoa in her hands. Of course it was for presentation but paul could tell she like the warmth.

"hey babe... why don't you go get us some cocoa's?" he asked as he handed he a few bucks

"I have my own money you know?" She told him

Paul smiled. "So stubborn. Just let me buy you a cup of cocoa."

Jolene rolled her eyes and smiled "fine...meet me on the bench next to Vicky."

Paul nodded and tried not to cringe. While he appreciated Victoria's protection and her good intentions, he would not be lied to and he knew when some one was lying. His wolf was like a living lie detector. He straightened his spine and walked towards the red headed women. He had to hold his wolf back. The urge to phase recently had been harder and harder to resist. He was in the presence of a leech and his hometown was only three hours away. his kids were only three hours away and the wolf needed to see their pups. His pups. However, Paul, pulled on the imaginary leash he had on his wolf. No, he would not go back to that. He had phased way too many times back home and he wouldn't do it so close to his former tribe. When he thought about it, he only phased when he was in Jolene's presence. And it was never out of anger, it was always out of an overwhelming emotion. Like the first time she touched him. He wondered if he took the muzzle off his wolf, if his wolf would speak? He knew his wolf resented him in some ways therefore he stopped speaking.

"Paul? Are you ok?"

Paul shook his head as he looked over at Victoria's green eyes. She had put on green contacts before they left the hotel. It made her eyes look muddier green than green.

"…I appreciate all that your doing so far. But I know when someone is hiding something. So what are you hiding Victoria? What are you keeping from us? And you better not try any of your slick games because if Jolene gets hurt. I will shred you! So tell me the truth? What are you hiding?"

Victoria looked at him with wide eyes and then she smiled like the cat who ate the canary.

"so perceptive…I like it. you want to know the truth? Well, here it is. Charlie swan is a rat bastard who deserves every bad thing coming his way. Look…I can see people memories, but I can also see people actions before they make them and before Charlie swan met me…he was already thinking of abandoning Jolene. He was tired of paying the bills and not seeing results. So... I decided to speed the process along without her having to take the brunt of Charlie abandonment. I scared the living daylights out of him, threating him of her death if he bothered her again. I thought it would change his mind…obviously I was wrong because it was set in his heart. He abandoned her and stopped paying her medical bills. They were going to put her in a government establish institution and she would have lost her mind for real this time. So, I paid her medical bills. I didn't want to hide Charlie's intentions from her …but she was just so happy…she had you. She was away from all the hurt…Why tell her anything to mess that happiness up?"

Paul sighed and rubbed his eyes.

"Victoria you have made the dumbest decision you could have ever done in your life…. Jolene doesn't like secrets and she definitely doesn't like being lied to. Listen From your eyes it may have looked like a good thing to do…but from Jolene's perspective…your just like everyone who has ever hurt her. The Cullen's, Charlie, Renee, Jacob and the pack. You were trying to protect her instead of just being honest. You should have told her the night you had your heart to heart conversation. And now she has to face Charlie's abandonment all over again. She needed closure and you kept-"

He stopped and quickly turned to face a very red-faced Jolene.

"Babe...let us explain." Paul said

Jolene shook her head and directed her attention towards Victoria

"Why did my father abandon me Victoria?" She asked coldly

"…He didn't want to be burdened with your depression." Victoria stated

"DON'T LIE TO ME!TELL ME THE TRUTH!" Jolene yelled causing the few people who were still around to look at her.

Paul tried to gently usher to sit down but she refused.

Victoria however stood up and grabbed Jolene by the shoulders, causing Paul to growl.

"you want to know the truth? Well remember the truth hurts…your father abandoned you because he was disgusted with you. He had no idea how you could have associated yourself with vampires and He couldn't understand Why you were so depressed. He was upset because he had to spill all of his retirement fund into your mental health. He felt like you were a waste of his time. waste of his resources. He found out about our supernatural world before he married sue clearwater. He was originally on his way to tell you about his engagement and keep you in the loop but a month after being a part of the tribe he was going to cut off all ties with you. Before he was able to do that, I forced his hand and made him cut of ties with you a little early. I however didn't realize that he would stop paying for your medical bills. I had to come up with the money to keep you in the institution for a few more years. I apologize that I told you so late, I didn't want to hurt you anymore.."

Jolene looked at Victoria and then at Paul.

"any more secrets? Any thing else people forget to tell me?"

"honey…I assure you…no one is hiding anything else form you. Unless Victoria has more to tell you?" Paul asked

Victoria sighed. "There is so much I want to tell you but i can't…this time I swear I really can't tell you. It would ruin the process of things. Since I was able to see Charlie memories, I know a couple of things that are going to happen, but I can't share them. Some of them are up to you and Jolene to see for yourself. You have decisions to make."

Jolene swallowed and looked at Victoria and then at Paul. An anger like no other stirring within her.

"Paul…I love you…but don't follow me. I have to do this alone."

"What! Alone? Jolene what are you talking about! Where are you going?" Paul called urgently as he chased after his wife.

"I'm going to see Charlie! I am tired of having my past kick me in the ass! He was going to abandon me because of my depression! Because of my mistakes! Screw him!" Jolene yelled as she tried to make her way to the car.

Paul beat her to it.

"just breathe babe. Think about this. If you go now. You'll ruin everything we've built. Everything. Our life our town. Please think about this. I'm not saying you don't need the closure because you do…we both do…hell, seeing you all fired up…it's kind of hot. Look, we both need to have some closure from our past. But going in guns a blazin just aint going cut it. we need a plan"

Jolene let out a laugh as she heard Paul's southern accent slip. She relaxed in his arms and breathed in his scent. That's what she loved about him. he let her be her.

"I believe I can help with that. Jolene you want to see your father. Correct" Victoria asked

Jolene nodded

"and paul…you want to see your children?"

Paul nodded silently

"Well it's about damn time! man seeing the future before it happens is so irritating sometimes. Ok, listen you guys take this week relax. Go to the space needle, go to the theater and the museum and enjoy yourself. I'll call you guys with a plan in a week."

Before they knew it Victoria was gone.

"What do we do now?" Jolene asked

Paul growled as his nostrils flared.

"I think you know what exactly what we're going to do"

With that said, he swept her off her feet and drove off to the hotel.

Chapter:

Sue clearwater hands shook as she looked at the letter. It was in Charlie's handwriting. It was urging her to meet with him at the famous restaurant called o' Charlie's in Seattle and to bring Nathan and Sarah but to not tell anyone else… he wanted to apologize for being a jerk for the past months.

Sue smiled; she knew she had married him for a reason. While he had made some grave mistakes recently she knew he had a good heart…didn't he?

"Nathan! Sarah! Get your coats on were going out for a while!" she called as she began to get dress, it was going to be a good night

Jared smiled as he read the small post it notes. It smelled like Kim and was in her handwriting. She wanted to get away from la push for a while and meet up with him in Seattle. Man, it was great to be friends and not have to worry about the strings attached. They both understood the relationship and Jared was free to date whomever he wanted; Kim however would always have a special place in his heart. She would continue to be his friend through it all.

Emily uley had made her decision. She couldn't take it anymore. She tried to avoid going into the altera store, but she had to get groceries. Sam wouldn't allow her to go anywhere off the rez. She couldn't go see her family; they wouldn't want her anyway. She was the "chief's" wife, why in the world would she shame them by turning up at their doorstep? She had to leave la push but where would she go so that Sam wouldn't find her? Suddenly an idea came to Emily…Sam wouldn't leave la push unless it was an emergency and with the new baby and nomad vampires showing up, he wouldn't have time to worry about her. In a hurry she began to write a letter. Sam would not stop her besides he had Leah…he wouldn't need her anymore. The thought of leaving him hurt the imprint bond. She hated Sam the man but the wolf…The wolf was sweet…and he hated what Sam did to her. it was one of the reasons Sam was so cruel. He was unbalanced, the man and the wolf did not agree. The only time they were on the same page was when they were fighting vampires. Other than that, it was like ying and yang.

Emily sighed she had to do this…

Jolene smiled as she entered the restaurant. It was beautiful, nothing too fancy but still elegant.

"Paul? this place is beautiful!" she commented.

"I'm glad you like it. it took a lot of research…I just wanted us to do something nice…with just us." He said with a smile.

Jolene smiled up at him as a waiter guided them to their seats.

"This table is pretty big for just the two of us?" Paul asked the waiter

The waiter however grinned and said "I was told four more people would be joining you tonight sir? Let me just go check your reservation. I apologize for any miscommunication. I'll be right back."

Sue hyperventilated as the engine stalled out on her. She had made it to Seattle but was now stuck on the side of the road.

"..Suesue! are we stuck?" Nathan asked

"I'm cold!" Sarah complained

Sue smiled tensely as she acknowledged Nathan's nickname for her.

"it will be alright…we will figure a way out of here. And hang on Sarah, I have to get the car working again."

After fifteen minutes sue realized it was hopeless and decided to call Charlie. However, he didn't answer. She was just about to give up when a car pulled out behind her.

"oh thank god!" she cried out in relief. That relief soon turned to fear, as the golden eyed women approached her car window.

It was then sue realized that a vampire was at her car door.

Paul and Jolene were just finishing up their appetizers when their waiter approached them.

"Mr. lahote. One of your guest has arrived."

"Guest…what guest?.. who-"

Paul stopped as his mouth dropped open. Standing a few feet from him was his former best friend.

Jared Cameron.
