Chapter 15

Tom and Harry made their share of contribution to the liveliness at the Riddle Manor. As spring drew close, Mary decided to rehire the previous gardener Mr.Bryce back on his old job. His nine year old son Frank Bryce was an addition to the commotion. His father let him help out with weeding the back gardens. Raoul welcomed the extra hands, having had to work with his bare hands despite having magic at his disposal had been needlessly exhausting him.

It had been three months since the twins had been born. After her initial exertions, Merope had been bedridden for nearly three weeks due to her weakness at the time of childbirth. She had finally recovered her strength and some more as she was now living in a warm home with food on the table thrice a day.

Tom Riddle Sr. spent quite a bit of his time with his boys. His father would visit the babies' room atleast once daily and inquire about their health. Mary made sure Merope was well fed so that she could raise her grandkids well but other then that the Riddle Matriach made sure she had little to do with the girl. She would refer to her as "girl" or "nanny" in the presence of visitors. Being as concerned about social image as she was, she had spun a tale of her son having found the children on an excursion to the war torn country side. Found crying in the rubble of a demolished house. Any similarity in appearance to their father was brushed off as coincidence.

With no one the wiser, Hogwarts herself visited the boys every full moon.

Merope had finally started getting proper sleep after learning a spell to puton the baby cribs to rock themselves. The spell would be cancelled if anyone except her, Raoul or Jenny approached the room. She was beginning to learn how useful warding could be.

Raoul had taught her a bit of warding. She was never trained in Ancient Runes, but it didn't take long to learn a few protective Runes and Sigils. The Ministry had compulsed it upon Raoul to keep magic under wraps at Riddle Manor. Tom Sr. had only known that Merope had used some sort of witchcraft on him. He had no idea about an entire world of magic that existed alongside their own.

Lycoris had managed to convince Raoul to obliviate Tom Sr.'s memory of her and Joseph's presence at the Manor. Any other instances of magic that occurred before that in his presence were attributed to Merope.

All could go well if the use of magic was managed well whilst living at the Manor.

Something that escaped their minds entirely was the accidental magic that the babies would exhibit if they inherited their mother's magical ability.

Hogwarts, however, was not as negligent. She charmed a crystal orb to Invisibilly follow the babies around and to absorb any bursts of accidental magic that the boys exhibited before that magic could be noticed, or worse, be of any harm. Enough to warrant repression of their magic forcefully.

She feared the manifestation of an Obscurus, or even two.

The sentinent being made one orb. And the orb would be perfectly effective, provided the twins were not separated. Especially if one of them exhibited accidental magic while the orb was tailing the other.

All the while, a small vial filled with Dumbledore's memory remained in Raoul's cupboard. Forgotten..
