Touhou Miss Adventure

Episode 15: Jealous nightmare

When they returned to the mansion, Marisa took one look at Reimu's scowl to know that it was serious and not to make any kinds of jokes, "How was the construction?"

"I do not want to talk about it… I'll go to my room and try to calm down." Reimu huffed and stomped towards her room, "I might even destroy a few things, just to make me feel better."

"...Try not to break the valuable things." Marisa tried really hard not to smirk, fighting it with all of her willpower, but alas... she failed. One look from Reimu, made Marisa wish she had tried harder.

Sakuya tried to diffuse the situation, she herself felt hungry, maybe they did too. "I'll go prepare some lunch, did you want to help Marisa?"

"...I think that's for the best." Marisa looked apprehensively at the spot that Reimu had just been standing at. Shaking her head, she followed Sakuya to the kitchen. "Now where did we put Koakuma?"

"Actually, could we do this without Koakuma?" Sakuya just replied, doing chores for friends, was not real work in her mind.

"Sure why not... What's up with Reimu though? Did something happen?" Marisa asked curiously, she had never seen her friend in that mood before, but was never given an answer.

Sakuya didn't know what to reply with, or how to feel about it.

"...That bad huh?" Marisa grabbed the nearest ingredients that needed cutting.

Sakuya sighed heavily, debating on how much to reveal. But this was Reimu's oldest friend, surely she could help. "I never quite realized how much pressure Reimu is under...And I doubt that you could understand it either… The lineage, the bloodline of the Hakurei, one that must have an heir...That's a much heavier burden than I thought."

Now it was Marisa's turn to sigh. "...Kinda, I know the burden of fulfilling the wishes and obligations of your ancestors, why do you think I fled home and live in the forest? I knew the burden, though I rejected it… something that Reimu doesn't have the luxury of doing."

"Well that explains the connection between the two of you." Sakuya said in surprise, she had never known.

"She found a friend in me, because we could identify with each other and our struggles… That doesn't stop her from thinking I'm a pain in the butt." Marisa snickered and flashed Sakuya a smile.

Sakuya couldn't help but chuckle a bit. "you are, but I still like you."

"No, you can't be one of my wives, I got too many already." Marisa laughed heartily.

"Seriously, I don't want to compete with Alice, she seems like a good wifefor you." Sakuya smiled in return.

"..." Marisa decided to just peel the potatoes, she was not dignifying that with a response, it was beneath her.

Sakuya had trouble not laughing, she was shaking and had to look away to not just double over and alert everyone in the house.

Once Sakuya had gotten her giggling fit under control, she decided to seriously ask Marisa some questions, "What was Reimu like when you first met her?"

"When I got to know her, or first impressions? Because my first impression was when she beat the living daylights out of me and mistress Mima… not the best start to a friendship." Marisa laughed.

Sakuya had to chuckle a bit. "Now that you mention it, that's also how Reimu and I met."

Marisa looked thoughtful for a second, "Now that I think about it, is that not how everyone here met Reimu for the first time?" She was so sincere that Sakuya doubled over in laughter, she could no longer contain it.

"I don't think I've ever heard you laugh that hard, before now." Marisa looked curiously at Sakuya.

"It's true that I don't appear to laugh often, but being head maid, I need to keep up appearances, but sometimes I use my time stopping powers to laugh, to get it out of my system." Sakuya told Marisa through heaves of breath, "I guess with all of you, I feel comfortable laughing without stopping time."

"I guess you also have sides to you that we don't know." Marisa looked thoughtful for a second.

After they had had some dinner, Mokou returned to her study, she still seemed to want to take everything easy for a while.

When Reimu never arrived for dinner, Sakuya made a plate for her and brought it to her room.

As Reimu sat in silence on her bed, She heard someone knocking on the door. "Who is it?"

"It's just me." Sakuya said politely. "I brought dinner if you are hungry."

Reimu opened the door to see Sakuya standing outside with a plate of food. "Thank you Sakuya, I'm not really hungry, but I appreciate the gesture."

"Shall I put it away, or just leave it at the table for later?" Sakuya asked, she really had trouble reading Reimu at this moment.

For a short moment, Reimu said nothing, but she sighed and spoke slowly. "This is not your responsibility, but can I get a few things off my chest? I need to vent."

"Of course, anytime you want to talk! I am here for you." Sakuya blurted out, to her, this was an honor. Sakuya listened intently to Reimu telling her about the details of why she needs an heir to the bloodline and more importantly, why it bothered her immensely to be the last living Hakurei.

Sanae and Marisa were deep in conversation as the doors burst open.

"I finally found you my love." Parsee said to the first human she noticed and kissed her.

Sanae was very overwhelmed with the kiss and Parsee's invasion, she tried to speak up, "But I'm not Mari-" That just gave Parsee better access.

"She is totally Marisa *ZE*" Said Marisa, as she casually tried to moonwalk out of the room.

Reimu walked into the doorway, preventing Marisa's escape and said, before she realized the situation, "Hey Marisa, we need to go to the meeting, to find out what to do with your remaining wives…" After saying it, she saw the scene. It was at this moment, she knew how royally she screwed up.

"MARISA?! OTHER WIVES!?" Parsee, dropped Sanae on the ground, as she was no longer important to her.

"Ouch! That's not how you treat a lady!" Sanae complained. But she realized that was probably for the best, as the taste from the kiss... was dreadful. She blinked a few times as she stood back to observe the now ongoing drama.

By sheer luck Parsee dodged the first attack from the squad because she was charging towards Marisa at full speed outrunning the barrage of Danmaku… She was not as lucky with the second attack because it was now obvious who she was targeting and she did not change course.

She was unconscious before she hit the floor, though her screams of agony echoed within the halls.

Mokou came into the living room after hearing the scream. "Let me guess, another of your wives… This is an ugly one at that… I also see that you've already taken care of her? it?"

"It." Reimu noted with some disgust, "Human eating Yokai are all the same."

After checking the yokai's pulse, Sakuya asked. "What do we do with her?"

"Feed It to the vampires?" Marisa suggested, "They've got to eat too."

Reimu sighed and muttered in a cold voice. "Sure, we need to feed our pets once in a while."

"It's only fair, I mean someone eating humans ought to know how it feels to be fed upon." Sanae pointed out in a sinister smile, "It's karma."

Sakuya was a bit apprehensive about it… But was even more perplexed, that everyone else in her group seemed to be fully on board with the situation. "While we have more than enough blood for our vampires for the next year or two… So I don't find it necessary."

"Do you have a better idea?" Reimu asked curiously.

"...Not really." Sakuya had to admit.

"The dungeons it is, *ZE*" Marisa put her fist in the air, in celebration of their victory.

The entire team sang their victory jingle, as they had not practiced which one to use, they were all horribly out of tune with each other. all the while they dragged the yokai down to the dungeon.

Marisa slammed the door open and looked at the two vampires who scowled at each other, chained at the walls opposite each other, "Hey guess what Flandre, It's Feeding Time." And with those words, they literally threw Parsee at her.

Flandre instinctively caught the yokai and sank her fangs into it. "EWWW!" She just threw the yokai down, "This thing tastes horrible."

"Come now little Flandre, don't be picky with your food now." Remilia noted with a hint of glee in her smile.

"Oho, it seems like you want to pick a fight?" Flandre's eyes radiated bloodlust.

"Only a child is picky when eating." Remilia mocked her sister for her own pleasure.

Flandre growled in return. "I'm a married woman, I'm no longer a child."

Remilia shook her head and huffed haughtily ,"And see how long that lasted."

The humans carefully locked the door when they sensed the bloodlust and the tension reached its peak… And when Flandre slammed Parsee into Remilia with the words, "You try and eat this."

"That takes care of that, so who is up for cooking tonight? *ZE*" Marisa asked with a grin.

Sanae still had a lingering bad taste in her mouth. "I want something spicy, sour and/or juicy to get this bitter taste out of my mouth."

Sakuya searched her mind for a moment. "How does Asam Pedas sound?

"...Normally I'm not a fan, but I think I need something like that today." Sanae generally liked spicy food, sour food and juicy food, but not when they were combined.

"Sounds interesting. I like spicy stuff." Mokou admitted, she liked food that tried to kill her, it gave her life a certain zest.

"It's a recipe that Meiling told me about." Sakuya informed them, it was of Southeast Asian origin after all, and Meiling had travelled a lot before coming to Gensokyo.

Reimu suddenly remembered that Meiling was still guarding the gate for them. "Well go get her if you need any help."

"It might be nice to have a chat with her once in a while." Sakuya left to go grab Meiling.

"So… How many of your wives are left Marisa?" Reimu was hazy on the details of who they were missing.

"I dunno, I haven't kept count, that's what I have you girls for *ZE*" Marisa beamed at all of them.

Mokou did some quick calculations in her head, "I think there are only two left, oh and Alice, so three."

"But we already talked with Alice." Sanae pointed out.

Reimu made a silent gag reflex when she heard that name, her earlier transgressions not forgotten.

"And from what you told me, it sounds like she is giving it time instead of giving up… Time is something you have plenty off right now Marisa." Mokou snickered evilly, "Alice has more patience than any of us, you might not escape from her in the long run."

"...I might not, at that. I'm not really ready for commitment right now, but I might be someday, I'll leave that for future me to figure out." Marisa smirked just for the fun of it.

"That's so like you to be irresponsible." Sanae laughed and playfully bumped Marisa's shoulder.

Everyone had to stifle a laugh, even Nue who had kept a distance found it funny, she was slowly learning how human humor worked.

"What are we laughing about?" Sakuya asked, as she entered with Meling by her side.

"Marisa being an idiot." Sanae giggled

"Again or a new?" Meiling stifled her laughter.

"Does it matter?" Reimu said without as much as a smirk on her face. The fact that she was so sincere sent everyone else into new giggle fits.

"Not cool Reimu." Marisa looked away in feigned dismay.
