All things recognized as Harry Potter belong to J.K. Rowling. I am just borrowing and spinning this story my own way. Please bear with me as I spin this story in an odd? manner. I personally like it. Please Read and Review. I am always open to suggestions to help make this story, and my writing technique better. Rated M for possible lemons in later chapters. As always this is a work of FICTION. Enjoy.

Chapter Fourteen: Halloween Night

I had enjoyed the rest of my day at the mall with Lucius, Severus, Pansy and Draco. Lucius was appalled at how rude people working customer service could be. He kept apologizing for his past transgressions as a Death Eater. We had to keep assuring him everything was alright and we didn't blame him for it. Severus didn't like the mall too much as he didn't realize there would be so many people wandering about. Draco, Pansy and I thought the whole situation was funny. We teased both of them mercilessly throughout the day. When I got back to my flat, Severus and Lucius apparated out and back to their places. George came in through the floo and hugged me. He kissed the top of my head and asked, "What's the plan for tonight?"

Hugging George tightly I say, "I've got to run back out to the store for a few minutes. I'm going to pass out Halloween candy tonight. I just didn't get to grab it while I was out."

George smiles at me before saying, "How about I go to the store with you? I want to pass out candy too."

I shake my head and say, "I'm not going to get that many kids. I never do, but if you want to, be my guest. We'll have a bit of fun with it, but you can't add any wizarding chocolates into my bowl."

George holds his hands up in mock surrender and cheekily says, "I would never, but what if you get wizarding kids?"

Shaking my head again I say, "I doubt that's going to happen. You can keep a bowl of wizarding chocolates inside just in case then, and you can't give it out to any wizarding kids under the age of 11."

Grinning at me George says, "That's better than when we were in school."

Lightly smiling at the memories I say, "Yeah. I was trying to be head girl then. I kind of had to set an example."

George kissing my forehead before saying, "I'm sorry you didn't get to be head girl. You would've made an amazing head girl."

I snuggle into a hug from George and murmur against his chest, "Thank you. I know. Unfortunately we were fighting a war. Then I was pregnant."

George lets out a soft laugh and says, "I know, but you did amazingly in the war and you love these babies."

I smile softly and rubbing my stomach I say, "I do love them. I wouldn't change anything and that's okay. I wouldn't have been a good head girl anyway. I broke too many rules as a student."

George shakes his head at me and says, "Come on Hermione, let's go get those chocolates for the kids to trick or treat. Can you believe next year we'll have to take two little ones trick or treating instead of passing out the candy?"

I pull George out of the door of my flat and lock up behind me. We hop in my car and I drive to the nearest grocery store and George and I run inside and grab chocolates. We head back to my flat after checking out. George and I get inside and change into some comfortable clothes. We turn on the porch light of my flat and pour the candy into a bowl to pass out. George makes his bowl of wizarding chocolates and places it on one of the end tables when you first walk into the flat. I place the bowl of regular chocolates on the opposite end table and we tuck in to wait and see if we get any trick or treaters.

George and I turn on the telly to a station playing Halloween music and turn the volume down so we can hear if anyone knocks on the front door. We start talking about anything and everything that crosses our mind until we hear a knock on the front door. I glance over at George and then we walk to the door with smiles on our faces. Opening the door we find a group of kids aged about 5 dressed up as witches and mermaids. I shake my head softly before saying, "You guys are so adorable. Would you like to pick out your own candy?"

The kids nod their heads and I grab the bowl of chocolates and let them each pick out four to five pieces of candy. They all say thank you before their parents motion for them to move along to the next house. This continues throughout the night and George and I enjoy every time a kid comes by. We share little laughs about all the different costumes the kids are wearing and we talk about how that's going to be us the following year with the twins.

Just as people start turning off their porch lights for the night, we get another knock on the door. George goes to open it as my feet have started hurting from walking around the majority of the day. As George opens the door, I hear him excitedly say, "Trick or Treat to you too. How old are you though?" I can't hear a reply but George says, "Oh, perfect, you can pick out of this bowl. Have a good night and have fun when you go back." George comes running into the room smiling and says, "I finally got to give out some wizarding chocolate."

I run my fingers through George's hair and say, "I'm glad, love. I know you really wanted to be able to do that."

He leans into my fingers in his hair before saying, "I love this. Just being here with you doing mundane stuff like passing out candy to kids or you running your fingers through my hair."

I move my hands from his hair and say, "I don't know how we got to where we are, but I'm glad we did. I can't wait to see what the future holds for us."

George leans forward and kisses my nose as he says, "Bad or good, we will get through everything life throws at us and we'll come out stronger after every encounter."

Smiling at George I say, "That's what I want to hear. That means the world to me."

George smiles softly saying, "I had an amazing Halloween night. Next year is going to be even better and I'm actually excited for it."

Pulling away from George I say, "I need to go and check on Harry real quick. It's the anniversary of his parents' deaths and I check on him every year on Halloween. He can definitely get into moods when he wants to."

I run to the bedroom and change into a pair of sweat pants and a different tank top. I pull a hoodie on over my tank top and rush back to the living room where George is sitting on the dress. He looks me over before saying, "Cute. Do you want me to go with you?"

Shaking my head I say, "This is just something I have got to do. It started our second year. We went to Sir Nick's Deathday party and I guess just the fact that it was a Deathday party really got to Harry. We've been talking every Halloween since for at least an hour about his parents. As we got older it just stuck. Ron doesn't even know we do it."

George got up and came over to kiss my forehead. He smiled at me softly saying, "Go, love. I'll be here waiting for when you get back. Be safe."

Giving George a cheeky smile I say, "I always am. Don't worry about it." With that I step into the floo and call out Harry address. When I get out at Harry's flat I brush the soot off my clothes and glance around the room. I see Luna standing there and rubbing small circles over Harry's back.

Luna glances up at me and says, "Hello, Hermione. Come on in. I'm going to let you two be now. I'll be back in a little bit."

As Luna leaves the room I notice the glass of fire whiskey in Harry's hands. He takes a drink of it and says, "I didn't know if you'd still come over with everything going on."

I move over to Harry and pull a chair around the back of his desk to sit beside him. I softly say, "Oh, Harry. I wouldn't leave you alone on this night if I could help it. I am running a little bit late though."

Harry takes another sip of his drink saying, "That's okay, Hermione. I understand you're a busy mum now."

I lay my head on Harry's shoulder and ask him, "Do you want to talk about them?" Harry shakes his head softly and I continue with, "That's okay, if you want to talk, I'm right here. I'm not going anywhere."

Sighing, Harry says, "I don't know what to say about them this year. I don't know them and I say the same stuff every year about it. I can't keep repeating the same stories over and over." Harry pauses and takes a deep breath before saying, "I even got to see them again."

I stop Harry by asking, "What do you mean you got to see them again?"

With a sad smile Harry says, "The night of the final battle. I had the resurrection stone with me. I didn't know what it was going to show me. It showed me them though. Well it showed me Mum, Dad, Sirius and Remus. They couldn't speak to me, but I knew they were proud of me. What's there to be proud of though? I didn't graduate top of my class. I didn't end up with the girl everyone thought I'd be with for the rest of my life. It's just a weird point of my life."

I shake my head against Harry's shoulder as I say, "It's not a weird point of your life. It's just your life. Everyone's life is different, but you're doing really well with your life. I mean look at you. You're with Luna Lovegood of all people. They used to make fun of her in school, but you never did. You saw past what everyone called Looney and you knew she was perfect for you. I mean you still know it. I see the two of you together. You're in love with her. She completes you. I mean in every aspect. She knows loss. She knows pain. She knows being an outcast. Harry, you didn't graduate top of the class, but you were offered an Auror position straight out of Hogwarts. I mean you didn't even finish schooling because of the war and that's no small feat. They wouldn't have offered you the position if they didn't think you were capable of being an Auror." Pausing for a moment to catch my breath I continue with, "And don't say it has anything to do with you being the chosen one. I mean you led Dumbledore's Army in your Fifth Year. Fourth Year you participated and technically won the Triwizard Tournament."

Harry looked me over once before saying, "This is why you're my best friend. I did do all that didn't I?" I nod my head at Harry and he continues with, "Maybe it is a weird point of my life, but that's okay because I've got you here and I've got Luna."

Harry and I hang out for a couple more hours before I decide to head on home. When I make it home, I notice George fell asleep on the couch watching the telly. I lightly kiss his forehead. He wakes up with a mumbled, "Sorry. I feel asleep."

I smile softly and whisper back, "That's okay. Let's go to bed." I take George by the hand and we make our way to my bedroom and fall asleep peacefully holding the other.

Hey guys. It has been a hot minute, I know. I'm surprised it didn't take me a lot longer to get this out. We all know by now that I am literally the worst at updating and writing. I honestly think I need to get a Beta or someone to push me to write more, so if anyone is interested in that, please PM me. I will get back to you as soon as I can. Anyway. I hope you enjoyed this chapter. Much love and thanks for the patience.
