Sue heard the curious gasp of the children in the back seat. The women had gold eyes and bleach blond hair.

"Hello mam? I saw you stuck on the road…I could give you a ride. It's so cold out here you know?"

Sue couldn't help it. while she knew of the cold one's existence and knew they were dangerous. She had never come face to face with one. The women before her was beautiful and she smelled so good! But there was also a slight tinge of fear. She was confused, like she was seeing something but wasn't all at once. It was confusing.

"...um…"

"Suesue! I'm cold!" Nathan shouted.

The golden eyed women looked over Sue's shoulder to see the two grey eyed children looking at her. The women took one look and let out a hiss.

"Werewolf spawn!"

Sue's head cleared as she shot for the lock on the door and instantly rolled up the window except it wasn't fast enough. Of course, vampire enthrallment. The very thing they use before killing their prey. It was what Edward Cullen used on Bella swan. It hypnotized their victims.

The vampire instantly had her door off its hinges.

Sue let out a scream and began to kick as hard as she could. This cold one was going to hurt the children.

"shut up! Those children smell like werewolf! They stink like wet dog!I'm going to kill-"

The women didn't get to finish her sentence because something with red fiery hair burst out from the trees.

"Put her down now Irina Denali!" the red headed women hissed

"Who are you? How do you know my name!" the blond women hissed. She still had a hold of sue but by this time by her hair.

Sue took a painful glance at the terrified children; they were huddled in the back seat looking extremely confused and Nathan's lips look blue.

"let me go! The children!" sue yelled

"Shut up or ill kill all three of you! And ill make it painful!" Irina hissed

Victoria took her opening with Irina looking down at sue she was able to quickly snatch the children from the car and quickly knock them out. Their heartbeats were slowing down and their poor lips looked blue. Her fingertips touched the barley warm skin, Victoria gasped as their memories flipped open like a book page by page. She felt the excitement and joy when they would see their father come home from work and the fear of their mother when she stormed through drunk. Of course, they were only toddlers, but the memory shone brightly. There were also memories of angry uncles, yelling grandfathers and the quiet sobs of the children.

Victoria quickly closed her mind and reigned back in on Irina. It was snowing hard and the children's guardian was in Irina's clutches. Would she have time to rescue the women and keep the children from hypothermia? While she knew the Denali coven was vegetarian, she knew the three sisters had been very lustful and selfish in their early years. Sucking the blood of human men after they slept with them. It left a very feral and dangerous streak in them, no matter how many animals they drained.

Now Victoria had no idea why the women wanted the children or their guardian but for Paul and Jolene's sake she couldn't let the Denali women win.

She quickly took off her fur coat, put it around the children and made a mad dash towards Irina. She let her power to evade come to its full strength and aimed straight for the women's chest. This forced Irina to drop the black-haired women, who Victoria now realized was sue clearwater swan.

This only made Victoria fight harder. With Irina pushed a few feet away, she was able to swing sue swan over her shoulder and put her down with the children. The force of Victoria's swing however caused sue to black out. With sue and the children halfway safe, Victoria turned towards the sound of speeding feet. She quickly ducked when Irina came barreling towards her.

"Who are you!" Irina yelled.

"it doesn't matter! The question is why are you here!" Victoria hissed

"…I'm here to avenge my lover! Those stupid mutts killed him! and those three are somehow connected! Now move it!"

"wait? lover…wolves… your lover was Laurent?"

Irina stopped mid attack.

"y-you knew Laurent?"

Check mate! Victoria thought. She had Irina distracted.

"yes, I did. He was apart of my coven with my mate and I. Traveled with Laurent for years."

"...your Victoria! The red headed witch who tried to kill the Cullen's pet! Edward and jasper said they killed you! Ripped you to shreds! But you're still standing!" Irina hissed

Victoria however needed to keep the conversation on Laurent. She needed a way of escape.

"I bet Laurent made you feel really good. Didn't he? Tell me...how did you guys meet?"

Once again, Victoria had Irina talking about Laurent. Her eyes glazing over as she went back to the time, she met him. She hated to play with the women emotions, especially about the pain of losing a mate but Victoria needed to do this. She understood what it was like. The loneliness, the emptiness, the rage. The blind fury of needed to avenge your mate. Especially when they were killed unjustly however, neither Laurent nor James died of unjust cause. They both died because of stupid decisions they made.

As Irina began to go further and further in her grief-stricken memories, Victoria was able to sneak further and further back until she was able to grab sue and the children and ran as fast a s she could. She just hoped she would make it in time.

Paul stood still as his former best friend kept moving towards him. Jared didn't look a day old. It had been what, seven years total? No wrinkles or stress lines. The beauty and curse of phasing. Paul didn't know whether to run, cry or slap his former friend. The shock was quickly replaced with fury. Fury at his past. His pack. Sam…and yet…here stood Jared. Looking at Paul as if he'd seen a ghost.

"P-Paul? oh my god...I Can't believe it Paul! Paul lahote!"

Paul just stared. Seven years of not ever seeing anyone from his past, the two people other than his children that he had cared about were Jared and his aunt sue. So why did he feel so numb? The anger he had before was now replaced with numbness. He was completely numb.

"Paul? Honey are you ok?" Jolene asked

Paul broke his stare from Jared to look into his wife's concerned eyes.

"b-Bella! Bella swan! You're here!?...wait why are-Paul? Bella? What is going on?" Jared asked

"Jared you should sit down and lower your voice please." Jolene soft voice asked as it rang in Paul's ears.

Jared looked at the couple and then threw himself at Paul unexpectedly. His arms wrapped around pauls shoulders as he began to shake.

"I thought I would never see you again, man…. I can't believe this…your actually here…"

The numbness that Paul had felt had suddenly vanished. Jared was here. His friend was here. It was like a fog clearing from Paul's mind. His anger and numbness fervently turned to shock, awe and a sudden joy.

"Jared?" Paul said as if he was just now recognizing the man that was awkwardly holding him .

"yeah man…its me." Jared replied.

The two men finally sat down. Jolene quickly called the waiter over to order a burger and fries for Jared.

"oh no Bella you don't have to order anything for me." He quickly said

"would you mind calling me Jolene. It's my name now and don't worry, I'm sure your hungry…wolves always are."

Jared's eyes went huge as he looked at Jolene and then at Paul.

"She knows…?" he asked

"of course, I keep no secrets from my wife."

Jared spit his water out.

"wife?!"

"yes, my wife…now Jared tell me what in the world are you doing here? Not that I'm not happy and shocked to see you. I mean it's been seven years."paul said as he quickly changed the subject

"yeah well it's not like anyone would have been able to call phone number or address at all." Jared said with a hint of anger

" I was banned from the pack Jared. Banned from la push. There was no one too call." Paul replied

"you had me… you could have called me. you wouldn't have had to be alone. To be in prison all alone without support. without your family."

Paul's gaze softened. "there was nothing you could do man. Sam had you all under an order and you couldn't break it. I'm shocked your even off tribal lands. So, tell me what you are doing here?"

Jared sighed. "I was supposed to meet Kim for a surprise dinner. Of course, I find you instead of her. which was way better anyway, so tell me how- "

Paul and Jared stiffened with Paul relaxing after a few minutes.

"vampire." Jared hissed

Paul however took a deep breath.

"no, Victoria." He said as he glanced over at Jolene.

As if they had called her, the red head hurried through the restaurant, right to their table. Jared was shaking, ready to drag her outside and phase.

"Jared…calm." A deep but powerful voice sounded from Paul. The power somehow was able to freeze Jared to is chair.

Paul look on in shock. How had he done that? why had he done that?

"Paul! Jolene! You two need to come back to the hotel with me right now. its emergency." Victoria urged

"hang on. Paul you can't just leave with her. what's going on?" Jared asked

"We don't have time!" Victoria hissed discreetly.

"fine. Jared come on. Let's go. Victoria you better explain in the car!" paul said angerly as he placed the wad of cash on the table.

Chapter:

The car ride was full of anxiety and tension.

"Victoria. Tell us what's going on?" Paul asked as the car slid on black ice. She was driving too fast.

"I don't have time to explain!" she hissed as she turned another sharp corner.

The car quickly stopped, and Victoria got out.

"Paul! Get out. Your heat is needed. You too!" she said as she pointed at Jared. "let's go! Now! Jolene park the car! We will meet you inside! Hurry!"

The two shapeshifters followed Victoria as Jolene went to park the car.

"Paul! Why the hell are you following this leech around! Is she blackmailing you!? Paul! Come on talk to me! This the witch that the pack had been tracking down for years. The witch that started a war! How can you just follow her!"

"Jared for five seconds please just shut up and let me figure out what the hell is going on!" Paul growled as they squeezed into the elevator.

Paul could feel his wolf stirring and, in his head, it felt like he was under water. Like there was a voice trying to speak but it being muffled. He however had to ignore it, he just needed to see what Victoria wanted.

"Vicky...tell me what is going on." Paul growled

Victoria hissed as she saw Paul's grey eyes turn a bright yellow.

"I can't tell you until we get to the room. Why are your eyes yellow? Are you about to phase! Paul control yourself."

The cord of calm snapped, and Paul quickly had Victoria pinned.

"listen here women. I have put my very life on the line to trust you! I have fought against every instinct in my body in my soul to not kill you! So, you better tell me now!"

Paul was shaking and his body literally vibrating and his head, it hurt like hell. He felt he fire lick up his spine. He had to get out of this elevator. The voice started to magnify in his head. What was going on, it was like static going in and out.

Paul held the sides of his head. Letting go of Victoria he burst out of the elevator. The voices were getting louder. And it was more than one.

This was it, he phased right there in the room. He couldn't resist it especially with his wolf pushing so hard.

"our pups! They are here! They are in this room! Find them!"

It was his wolf. He was guiding him. Paul could hear it and feel it. right now, he didn't have time to question it.

He was quickly able to phase back but still follow the overpowering voice in his head. He could hear the small whines of his children. His pups. They were here!

Paul went further into the room, past the sitting room and into the bedroom. The scent was strong. Extremely strong. Asleep on the bed was his aunt sue. Oh god, she had aged.

Focus!

Paul shook his head and followed his wolfs instructions. The scent of his children was getting closer.

It was coming from the closet. He opened it without hesitation but instead of two children, looking up at him in terror were two wolf pups.

"…oh god…oh...my kids…my kids." Paul cried as he fell to his knees. "Nathan…Sarah.."
