Chapter 17 – Moving in with Troy Bolton

Troy and I had gotten an apartment in a new building near our college. Over the summer I spent time doing my rehabilitation in order to be able to walk without the crutches, and when Troy and I got the keys for our apartment, I was able to walk 1 kilometer without crutches. We had packed all of our things in our separate houses, and they were now loaded into a truck by people from a moving company. Our bed, couch and dining table and chairs were all new things and had been delivered directly to the apartment. I was in the apartment with my parents, when Troy arrived with the people from the moving company and his parents.

"Hi babe," Troy smiled and came to me and kissed me softly.

"Hi," I smiled sneaking my arm around his waist.

"Now we just need to get the last things up here, and then we finally have our own apartment," he said softly smiling at me.

When the last things were placed in our apartment and most of our things were in place, our parents left. Finally, we were alone in our home. Yup, that's right, I just moved in with Troy Bolton. How crazy was that? Craaaaazy!

Troy wrapped his arms around me as I was placing books into the bookshelf. "Hi," he whispered in my ear.

I smiled and shivered as I felt the vibrations of this voice on my skin, "hi," I whispered back and turned in his arms.

"Are you done soon?" he asked innocently. "I really want some attention from my girlfriend," he smiled at me and leaned his forehead against mine.

I smiled at him, "you could help your girlfriend out with the last books, and then she can get some time for you."

"Okay, let's get those books into place," he chuckled.

We put all of the books into the bookshelf. Luckily for me, Troy understood my need for order in the bookshelf and helped me order them into categories. Biographies in one area, fiction in another, schoolbooks in another, and so on. Troy placed the last of the books from the box he was emptying and stepped back to watch me place the last books from my box. I stepped back and stood beside him and admired our work.

"Satisfied?" he chuckled looking at me.

I nodded, "yes," I giggled and wrapped my arm around his waist. "Now time for you," I said smiling up at him.

He leaned down and kissed me softly. "Finally," he chuckled. "So, we have absolutely nothing to eat, so what do you say to order something in and then cuddle up at our couch for the evening?" he smiled at me.

I nodded again, "that sounds fine for me." I rested my head against his shoulder. "I can't believe that we are finally living together," I said turning my head to look up at him again.

Troy smiled down at me, "me either. Finally, I'll go to bed every night and wake up every morning with you by my side."

I nodded, "yeah, I know," I giggled, "it's like a never-ending sleepover with my boyfriend."

Troy chuckled, "yeah, now let's order that food, so that we can cuddle up on the couch," he said leading me towards the couch, where we cuddled up ordering our food online. "What do you say we change into our PJ's before our food arrive?" he smiled at me.

I giggled, "so like a real sleepover?"

He nodded, "yes, and because I know that you'll fall asleep before heading the bedroom tonight," he chuckled.

I rolled my eyes at him, "really?"

"Is that a bet?" he chuckled.

I nodded, "oh yes, Bolton. The dishes this week?"

"You're on, Montez," he chuckled and kissed my cheek. "Now, let's go get into our PJ's, before our food arrives."

We went to the bedroom and changed into our PJ's, and then went back to the living room. Half an hour later the doorbell rang, and Troy got up to open and came back with our food.

"So, dinner is served," he chuckled and placed the food on the coffee table, before he went to the kitchen to take two plates and some cutlery.

We ate and talked about what we still needed to do before we were settled in the apartment. We still needed to put up some pictures at the walls, and we still had some things that needed to be placed around the apartment. As we finished eating, Troy sat back and opened up his arms, "so, will you cuddle with me here in our new apartment?" he chuckled.

I nodded and cuddled up to Troy's chest, "there is nothing I rather would," I sighed.

Troy chuckled and wrapped his arms tightly around me, "good," he said and kissed the top of my head. We sat there cuddled up at the couch just talking about how nice it was to finally live together, and what our plans for the next few weeks would be. After some time, I fell asleep in Troy's arms just as Troy had predicted earlier, but Troy carried me into our bedroom and covered me with the sheets, at least he must have, since I woke up in our bed the next morning to a smiling Troy.

"Good morning, sleepy head," he smiled and kissed me softly.

"Good morning," I smiled.

"Guess who is doing dishes this week?" he chuckled.

I giggled and rested my head against his chest, "I guess I am."

"I'll help you," he chuckled and caressed my back.

"Good," I turned onto my stomach and looked up at him. "Rock, paper, scissors on who is going to pick up breakfast?"

Troy chuckled, "nah, let's go there together instead." He leaned up and kissed me softly.

"Okay then, let's get up, I'm hungry," I said pushing myself up and to the edge of the bed. Troy chuckled and got out of the bed. We got dressed and then went to the store around the corner to pick up some groceries and then went back to get some breakfast before doing the last things in the apartment.

While we were unpacking the last boxes, we ended up looking through a lot of old pictures from around, when we had met each other at Troy's 10 years birthday and to where we were now. After a few pictures we found a pattern in the pictures, where we were both in. If I was not looking at Troy, he was looking at me. Those few once, where we were not looking directly at one another were mostly pictures from when we were playing soccer in the garden at Troy's parents' house. Only a few pictures had caught us looking at each other at the same time until we finally became a couple. After that it was hard to even find a picture in our possession where we were not tangled up in each other's arms or starring at each other.

"Do we even want to guess how many times our parents have looked at the pictures of us, and us in general, and wondered, when we would finally realize that we were both madly in love?" Troy chuckled as we flipped through the pictures.

I shook my head, "no, because it has been way too many times," I giggled, "they even said it, when we announced that we were now more than friends."

He chuckled again, "yeah. It took me way too long to recognize it," he smiled and kissed my cheek. "But at least you are mine now," he said softly pulling me into his arms.

I smiled up at him, "and I'll never be anyone else's," I promised him.

"Good," he said and placed a kiss on my forehead, "because I'm not letting you go. I did that mistake once after that party, when we kissed the first time, and I'm not making that mistake again. Never." He hugged me tightly.

I nodded, "good, because I'm not leaving," I said softly and rested my head against his chest. We had talked a lot about our past mistakes, how everything could have been different if things had not gone wrong between us and in our communication after that party at Troy and Shar's place. It was the one thing that we both wanted to change if we could, but as we all know, we cannot change the past, and therefore we were now going to make the best of our future.

"Maybe we should make a collage with some of those pictures of us?" Troy suggested.

"Yeah, that is a great idea," I smiled up at him. "We can get a big frame and then a piece of carton to place the pictures on," I said.

"Let's do that, we can buy the things during the week," he smiled at me.

I nodded, "yeah. Maybe we should get the rest of the stuff into place and then make some dinner?" I said looking at the time. It was already 6.30 in the evening.

Time passed and we both started at our college. We did not take the same majors, but at least we went to the same school, so that we could go there together most days. I had one day, where I did not have any lectures and therefore mostly stayed home. On those days I would get up and prepare a lunch for Troy to bring to school, and I would always leave a small love-note in the lunch box. Troy mostly had lectures every day, but on the few days Troy did not have lectures, when I had, he would do the same for me. No one was in doubt - we belonged together, and it was clear to everyone from the very beginning. I still had some troubles with my knee, and I still had trouble accepting the fact that I could not play handball, but as time passed, I slowly accepted it and replaced my practice and game time with studying. Troy still played soccer, and I still went to watch his games with Shar. Even Chad had started to come along to the soccer games, because he wanted to spent time with us. Once a week we had some friends over – sometimes mine, sometimes Troy's and sometimes both – for game nights or just a simple dinner together. We had found our own way of life in our own apartment. We always planned our weeks, what we planned on having for dinner, what we needed to buy, what we had planned during the week, and so on. Some of the people I studied with always looked at bit weird at me, when I told them about it, and Troy said that the guys from his class teased him, but we liked it that way.

"Babe," I heard Troy call from the entrance, "I'm home." I had been home all day, because I had no lectures, which was a good thing, since I was lying on the couch with my leg raised on some pillows. My knee was killing me. "Babe?" Troy said worried, when he came into the living room and saw me.

I sighed, "hi honey."

He came to sit down beside me and leaned down and kissed me softly, "are you okay?" he looked at me concerned.

I shrugged, "it just hurts a lot today, so I'm trying to rest," I said.

He nodded, "have you done something, or has it been hurting all day?"

"All day," I sighed, "but it's okay, I've been resting most of the day, trying to read here at the couch," I nodded towards my computer and books at the coffee table.

Troy nodded again and caressed me cheek, "okay. Have you taken your painkillers?"

I sighed, "no…"

Troy frowned, "but babe, you need to take them, when you are feeling the pains…"

"I know… but I really hate taking them, I feel so tired, when I take them," I complained, "and then I can't do anything."

Troy smiled at me, "but what could possibly be more important to do than take care of yourself?"

"Helping you with making dinner," I stated smiling at him.

He shook his head, "no that's not more important," he said taking my hand.

"But we agreed on helping each other with the dinner tonight," I pointed out based on our planning during the weekend.

"I know, babe," he smiled at me, "but just relax, and then let me do the cooking so that you can rest, okay?"

I nodded giving in, because I knew it would not help anything to continue to argue for helping him. "Okay, babe, but I owe you then," I said.

He leaned down and kissed me again, "all you owe me is to feel better," he whispered and with that he stood up walking to the kitchen. I heard him open a kitchen cupboard and then I heard the sound of a pillbox opening, before the fridge got opened. Shortly after he returned to the couch handing me a bottle of water that he had already opened and then my painkillers. "There you go, love," he smiled at me.

"Thanks, babe," I said smiling up at him and then took the pills. I sighed as I lay my head back down at the pillow.

Troy sat down beside me, "should we make change of plans?" I raised my eyebrow at him. He chuckled, "I'll order a pizza for us, and then we stay here together and watch a movie, while eating and then head off to bed," he suggested.

"I'm in on that," I smiled at him, "mostly because I don't feel bad for leaving you with the cooking then."

He chuckled and caressed my cheek, "you shouldn't feel bad no matter what, babe."

"I know," I smiled, "but I still do, because you did the cooking yesterday too."

"Well, we'll make dinner together tomorrow before my practice then," he smiled at me and grabbed his phone so that we could place our order.

Half an hour later our pizza arrived, and Troy had put on a movie and we were sitting together in the couch eating our pizza. Afterwards I cuddled up to Troy as we watched the last of our movie.

"Are you feeling better babe?" Troy asked caressing my back.

"A bit," I said and caressed his chest.

"Babe, will you promise me something?" he asked softly.

I looked up at him, "yes, what?"

"That you'll take your painkillers right away next time?" he raised his eyebrows at me.

I nodded, "yes, I promise."

"Good," Troy smiled and leaned down and kissed me softly. "And next time you are in pain all day, please text me, so that I can do something, okay?"

I nodded, "thanks babe," I smiled. "But please don't worry about me, I'm okay," I said and caressed his cheek.

He nodded, "but still, I want to know it so I can help you."

"I know, and I'm glad to have your support in everything," I smiled at him.

"I'll always support you," he promised me.

"And I'll always support you," I promised him.

We sat talking while the movie ended, and then we decided that it might be early, but we would go to bed. Troy placed his arm around me, as we walked to the bedroom, I was limping, because of the pain in my leg. Troy and I cuddled up in the bed talking some more before kissing each other goodnight and then drifting off to sleep.

The next day Troy and I stood up to find that his lectures had been canceled, so he made a lunch for me and sent me off to my lectures. When I got home later that day, I found Troy in the kitchen, where he had been baking muffins for the game night with Chad, Taylor, Shar, and Shar's boyfriend, Jonas, the next day.

"Hi babe," he smiled brightly at me as I stepped into the kitchen.

"Hi honey," I smiled and went over and kissed him softly, "it smells good," I said.

"Yeah, I hope they taste as good as they smell," he chuckled.

"So, what time was it your practice was today?" I asked as I jumped onto the counter to sit there.

Troy stepped between my legs, "at 7 so we have time for the two of us for about 4 hours now," he chuckled and kissed me.

I smiled and placed my arms around his neck, "well, then I'd like some time with my man," I whispered before kissing him. From that you can figure out yourself what happened. At 5.30 we left our bed again and went to the kitchen to make dinner together and then eat before Troy had to leave for practice.

"I'll see you later, babe," Troy smiled as he grabbed his bag and kissed me.

"Yeah," I smiled, "I'll be waiting for you."

Troy chuckled, "good, I can't wait to get home to you again," he smiled and kissed me once again. "I have to go now," he sighed.

"Yeah, have fun at practice, babe," I smiled following him to the door sending him off with a sweet kiss. I went to the living room for once I had nothing to prepare for the next day's lectures, so I dropped down at the couch with a book and started reading something that was not study related.

I got ripped out of my own little world by my phone ringing. It was Shar.

"Hey Shar," I said picking up the phone and placing my book at the coffee table.

"Hi," I heard the sound of my best friend's nervous voice.

"What's up?" I asked concerned.

"Troy's at practice, right?" she asked.

"Yeah," I said and looked at the time, "he won't be home for another hour."

"Can I come over?" she asked from the other end.

"Of course," I said a bit confused about her way of asking. A few minutes later Shar stood in front of me in the door. Something was up there was no doubt about that.

"Shar, what's up?" I asked as I had let her in.

"I'm pregnant," she said without hesitating.

"What?" I asked a bit confused.

Shar nodded, "I'm pregnant…" she repeated.

I nodded, "okay, come on let's go sit down and talk about this," I said and took her hand and let her to the living room and sat down with her in the couch. "I expect that it is Jonas, who is the father…" I said.

She nodded, "it is… it was not planned to happen…" I could see that she was confused, but still sort of happy.

I took her hand, "have you told him?"

She shook her head, "no not yet, I wanted to talk to you first, because you always know what to do."

I nodded, "okay. Well, I know that you are against abortion, so that makes it pretty clear to me."

Shar nodded, "well, yes, it does. But what if he does not want the baby?" I could see the fear in Shar's eyes.

I caressed her cheek and put some hair behind her ear, "Shar, honey, Jonas is crazy about you. He might be a bit shocked at first, but I'm almost 100 % positive that he will stay and want the child with you. You guys have something special, and he adores you, just as much as you adore him." I said comforting. "Plus, we all know that if you are old enough to fool around, you are old enough to take the consequences of your actions, right?"

She nodded again, "I know. I'm just afraid that he will think that I am ruining his life," she said and looked down.

I pulled her in for a hug, "you won't ruin his life. A child is a blessing, and he will know that," I said comforting her.

Shar nodded, "so what should I do?"

We talked about it all, and how she had to tell Jonas. We agreed that she should tell him the next day, before they would come here. And when she had told him and they had talked about it, they should tell their parents.

"I'll be here, no matter what," I promised her as I hugged her again. "And I'm sure that Troy will too," I smiled at her.

Shar nodded, "I know. Thanks!"

I smiled, "You're welcome, you know that," I held her hand.

"But please don't tell Troy anything yet, I want to tell him myself," she said looking pleading at me.

I nodded, "I won't tell him," I promised.

And just as I had said that the door went open and Troy called out that he was home. He found me and Shar in the living room.

"Hey sis," he smiled and hugged Shar, and then leaned down and kissed me softly, "hi babe." He sat down in the armchair, "so what's up?" he looked at Shar. He had noticed that there was something up, there was no doubt about that.

"Oh, I just needed some advice on girl stuff," Shar said smiling at me.

Troy raised his eyebrow, "has Jonas done something?"

Shar shook her head, "no, no, he is an angel. I just had some things I needed Gabby's view on," she said.

Troy nodded, "okay, I'm not sure if I buy it, but I expect that I'll get to know what's it's all about once you're ready to tell me."

Shar nodded, "of course. I just need to figure some things out before I tell, okay?"

He nodded, "okay. As long as you're okay, and that my Gabby's okay too, I'll wait."

I smiled at him, "we are both okay, babe, I promise."

Troy accepted it, and we sat there talking a bit more, before Shar got up and left. Troy and I got ready for bed and cuddled up under the sheets talking. I loved how we did this almost every night, cuddling up in the sheets and then just talk for some time before kissing each other goodnight and then drift off to sleep in each other's arms. And it was just as nice waking up beside each other and be able to spend the entire day together in bed if we felt for that in the weekends. I simply loved living with Troy Bolton.
