It's a short and messy chapter but I had to to get any further in my story process...
I hope you enjoyed.
All warnings from last chapter are still active for this one!
"A favor?!" Kuwabara was fuming. "You were doing them a favor?! I'll send you to hell, even if I have to drag you there myself!" Kuwabara broke free from the restrains and headed towards Ichigaki. He raised his fist, as he came close he heard the doctor say something but didn't care to understand what he said.
Kuwabara's arm was pulled back before he could strike, his legs were kicked from underneath him, sending him to the ground. He was soon able to recollect himself, finding himself face to face with Yusuke.
"Whoah, dude, It's me!" Kuwabara smiled awkwardly as he looked at his friend, the bandage on his eye gave Kuwabara the shivers. "We've come to rescue you."
Ichigaki laughed. "I told you, he won't respond. You're a bit late but don't worry, we've been keeping them busy in the meantime." He nodded towards Kamiya and both made their way to the back exit.
"Where do you think you're going?!" Kuwabara asked hectically as he tried to keep an eye on all three.
"We'll be retreating for a while, after you've sorted this out, Yusuke." Ichigaki chuckled and left the room with Kamiya.
"Okay." Kuwabara began with a sigh. "They're gone, you can drop the act now Urameshi." He hummed as there was no change in behavior. "Well I think it's no act then.." A loud crash redirected Kuwabara's focus to the second door which lead to the arena. He felt Yusuke's weight leave him and scrambled to his feet as Yusuke started heading towards the sound.
"Oh no you don't!" Kuwabara quickly pulled Yusuke back by his shoulder.
...
"There you are!" Jiro rushed to meet his brother.
"Ah thank god you're here!" Taro gave a sigh of relieve. "That must mean everyone made it inside?"
"Apparently, heard Hiei already went on a rampage and killed some guards." Jiro began. "I brought Kuwabara to Ichigaki, both Yusuke and Kurama were in that room. They sended Kurama out to get Hiei, I'm not sure about Kuwabara and Yusuke."
"They'll be fine, I believe in them." Taro smiled.
"So, what now?" Jiro's tone of voice dropped to merely a whisper as Taro grabbed his arm and pulled him along the hallway.
"We're going to look for a way to release the prisoners."
...
"This ain't funny anymore man!" Kuwabara squeeled as he threw a stool at Yusuke who was angrily approaching. "I get you're mad and I'm sorry we're late but please stop!" He grabbed a metal tray, the instruments that lay upon said tray clattered to the ground, holding it in front of him as some sort of shield.
Kuwabara flinched as Yusuke slapped the tray out of his hands. It took Kuwabara just a few seconds to avoid Yusuke's attempt to hit him and catapult himself to the other side of the small room, letting him hit a wall instead. Kuwabara chuckled but soon fell silent as he saw Yusuke turn with an audible growl of frustration.
He froze as Yusuke lifted his hand, index finger pointed he stretched his arm towards Kuwabara. "I wouldn't do that if I were you!" Kuwabara yelled. "This room is too small for a spirit gun, you'll kill us both!" He ducked as Yusuke shot a small amount of energy. Back to his feet, Kuwabara saw the hole it left in the wall. "That's it, I'm done, this is bonkers!" Kuwabara threw his arms in the air. "You wanna fight, big boy? Come at me!"
As soon as Kuwabara was about to charge, another loud crash was heard, this one louder than the previous one. For a moment it felt as if the ground was about to crack, instruments and utensils rattled in their drawers. Then, as soon as it began, it stopped.
Kuwabara regained his posture. Yusuke shoved the table, which slightly blocked his path, to the wall with an irritated huff.
"Come at me!" Kuwabara balled his fists in front of him but he could feel his knees buckle. "I've faught you before and I'll do it again!"
Yusuke sped towards Kuwabara and swung his fist, Kuwabara dodged it and punched Yusuke on his jaw, his head turning to the left as a result of recoil. Kuwabara lifted his eyebrows in surprise. "Well that wasn't that-" He wasn't able to finish his sentence or a sharp pain in his abdomen forced him to bend forward.
...
"It's there" Taro pointed to a patrol post which was located on the top of a pair of metal stairs. "There is an emergency button in there, it will trigger a 'mass evacuation' and open all cell doors directly."
Jiro nodded and started climbing the stairs, Taro waited till he was out of sight. A yelp was heard with one aggressive swing, Jiro was thrown down the stairs.
"Shit, are you okay?!" Taro rushed to help his brother stand. "What happened?"
"We know you switched sides, traitors." Kyra appeared on top of the stairs, Guo following behind her.
"Kyra, you don't understand, this has all been a trap." Taro yelled at her.
"I know, we did whatever we needed to do to survive, we killed our own, so did you." Kyra huffed.
"Yes we did." Jiro answered. "We did it on empty promises, that they would keep our family safe, yet that didn't happen. He used us, including you."
"You think you know how the world works, do what's right, do the next 'best' thing?! Let me burst your bubble cause that's not how it works! You side with the strongest to secure your survival, that's how this world works." Kyra spat. "And now that we secured their trust, gained higher statuses in this fucked up algorithm, you decide to switch to the enemy."
"It's not considered switching to the enemy if we were sided with the actual enemy all along." Taro began. "They killed our people, one by one and for what? So that THEY could build THEIR army and rule all three worlds? Don't you get it Kyra? Do you actually believe we have a saying in all this? We're just pawns in their game. A way of getting what they want, they know we switched sides, they don't even care. We're nothing to them. The only right thing to do now is to free everyone we've imprisoned. Give them their lifes back, please."
Silence.
There was nothing more then silence.
Kyra kept her gaze on the two brothers as she thought.
Then.
As if a lock was removed.
He spoke.
"They have a point." Guo's voice, low but intimidating, the vibration in his voice could cause earthquakes if he wanted to. "We're just being used. If they made the decision to regain control, then so will I."
Kyra turned, there was a certain calmness in her eyes, the eyes where they expected hectic panic and defeat. They seemed to look at Guo triumphantly.
"If that's what you've all chosen then who am I to argue against it."she rested her eyes on the red button. "Maybe we have been blinded."
With one swing of her arm, Kyra pressed the red button, opening all cell doors.
...
"Is that all you can do?" Kuwabara snickered, both of them were panting and out of breath.
Yusuke was about to charge again as a loud roar introduced itself. The door to the arena started to shake and rattle in it's frame. They both lost their balance as the quaking worsened. Kuwabara covered his head as things started to fall off of the desks, the clock bounced off of the wall together with the countless mirrors and posters. Then, it stopped. There was this eery silence between the two, nobody moved, nobody made a sound.
Out of nowhere, Yusuke stood and charged towards Kuwabara. Kuwabara stood and tackled Yusuke to the floor. He managed to take a hold of Yusuke's arms and pinned them to the ground with his knees. "It's done!" Kuwabara yelled. "Get a fucking grip!" Kuwabara raised his fist and hit Yusuke on the side of his head.
He heard footsteps approaching, his heart raced in his chest as he stood up from his now unconscious friend. Reaching for the nearest stool, he held the thing in front of him towards the door, whatever would enter this room would receive a good smack on the head with a bar stool.
The door opened and Kuwabara sighed in relieve as he saw the small fire koorime in the door opening. He smirked.
"I see you've also been busy?" Hiei grunted.
"Y-yeah.." Kuwabara looked behind him. "He attacked me first! I swear! I tried to talk him out of it but-"
"Talking doesn't work, they don't listen." Hiei intervened.
"How do you know that?! Have you even tried?!" Kuwabara lowered the stool and set it back on the ground. "What was the earthquake? I'm sure you've felt it too."
"Yes I've tried talking and yes I've felt it too." Hiei scoffed.
"What was it?" Kuwabara raised his eyebrows.
"The dragon."
"T-the dr.. wait.. what?! You released it?! Inside?! Who were you fighting?!" Kuwabara muttered.
"Yes I released it, it doesn't matter who I was fighting, what matters now is that we get all of us out of here, alive." Hiei turned around and looked out over the arena.
"It might not matter to you, hamster legs, but I just had a fist fight with this idiot, he has gone completely insane!" Kuwabara leaned against one of the desks positioned against the wall.
"He's not the only one, now, are you going to help me getting us out of here or are you going to continue complaining about how bad your days was." Hiei pointed at Yusuke. "Get him and meet me in the arena." Hiei retreated back to where he came from.
Kuwabara walked up to Yusuke. "This really isn't your day, is it?" Lifted him over his shoulder and stept out into the arena.
"Hold up.." Kuwabara pointed out as Hiei covered an unconcious redhead with his cloak. "I was wondering where he went.." It took Kuwabara a few seconds to piece two and two together. "You used the dragon on Kurama?!"
"I didn't kill him."
"You could have!" Kuwabara stood motionless, his finger still pointed at Kurama.
"It's rude to point." Hiei scoffed, not facing Kuwabara.
"What do you know, you're always rude, why point me out on it?" Kuwabara huffed.
"Don't be such a know-it-all and help me." Hiei shot an angry glare at Kuwabara. "We need to get them out of here."
Without saying another word, Kuwabara lifted Kurama and carried him under his arm, the other securing Yusuke on his shoulder. "I swear I heard him groan." Kuwabara said after a few steps.
"Who?" Hiei didn't stop, he kept walking towards where he knew was an exit.
"Nevermind." Kuwabara continued walking.
...
"Go, go, go!" Jiro and Taro yelled as they guided countless prisoners to the exit.
Kyra watched carefully as all cells were emptied.
"I notice there are no guards inside..." Kyra turned to Guo.
"I don't know, maybe they fled?" Guo replied.
A collection of curses and screams were heard from outside as the Ichigaki and Kamiya executed their plan to regain control once and for all.
