I'm sorry... I've got LARPies

For the record, despite how this fiction might imply, I genuinely admire Cosplayer's and those capable of LARPing. I dislike dressing up and my ability to really delve into my imagination in body and mind is difficult. This story, a trash story of mine (one that I started writing but gave up and threw away hence my calling it a Trash Story) was simply one that I thought would be funny and interesting. A well meaning jab at something I like. It's not meant to belittle or insult anyone, even if it might seem that way! So, if it does annoy you or offend you, remember at least this; Don't take offence, take strength! These sorts of hobbies and enjoyments should be held tight. Wear them as proudly as you can, because there is always going to be someone putting it down in crueler ways than a well-meaning idiot like myself.

Why am I posting a story I threw away? Partly because I feel I have to post something, but mostly because I feel this is my best idea in a while even if I couldn't follow it through. It's got real potential, I feel, and i'm hoping this simple idea might inspire someone else to write something similar. Something I'd really enjoy reading myself.

Jaune Arc stared blandly at the girl before him, twirling around a very realistic looking styrofoam and bamboo scythe. It's red and black colour scheme matching her attire to a tee. His expression became more deadpan than a face had any business being at her declaration that it was also a high caliber sniper, customisable too, apparently.

He suppressed his scoff with a practiced hand and simply continued to smile indulgently at the girl.

He'd play along till he found his sister and then drag that good for nothing NEET back home. Seriously? Running off to join up with these lunatics? Playing pretend against the forces of evil?

He'd never understand his world.

An entire Academy dedicated to letting children, and adults, devolve into a fantasy land. There were so many people on Remnant that were like this that it had become the norm long ago. The governments of the world didn't really know what to do about it so they built specialised schools for them, it worked for a while. Until one idiot by the name of Ozpin, took over as Headmaster and used his surprising cunning to block any effort to continue helping the students recover from their delusions. His Mother had been a member of Beacon before he took over, she even spoke rather fondly of the place. Though she was very much less fond of what it became... He only wished his darling sister had bothered listening to the second half of his mothers tales, instead of getting stuck on the whole "a school for people who want to save people from monsters". She'd never been very good at understanding sarcasm.

Now he'd been forced to ditch his own school to look for his younger sister and make sure Ozpin didn't get his meddlesome mitts on her.

He loved his adoptive sister dearly but he couldn't help but think it was her lack of Arc genetics that led her down this stupid path.

Still, it wasn't all bad. Delusional as she was, this Ruby girl was cute and quirky, so basically the type of girl he liked.

Shame about the whole delusional thing though.

"Oh! That's my sister, gotta go!"

Jaune sighed as his companion skipped away to her sibling, cursing the loss of an aquintance.

"Great. Where am I gunna find another quirky girl to talk to?"

His eyes panned around the room, ignoring the people observing him.

He stopped when he caught sight of a ginger girl merrily swaying side to side. She happened to turn as he was staring before making a subtle gesture at everyone else before shrugging.

He couldn't be sure why, but he got the feeling she was like him. A regular person with no insanity who was here for someone else's sake. He smiled, gave a friendly wave and a roll of his eyes before moving to stand by himself out of view. If his Sister had come here, she'd turn up and if not all he had to do was hold out for two semesters for when the "Vytal Tournament" was held and all the other schools for nut-jobs came to visit. Then it was simply a matter of Grab Go home.

"Please be here..." he muttered "please don't subject me to two terms of this Penny, please"

He was not so fortunate.

"Do you have any idea who you're talking too!?"

Jaune rolled his eyes with annoyed huff, frustrated over the interruption to the random greeting he'd given to the red head girl beside him.

"Yeah, no clue Snow Angel"

Though irritated the truth of his statement was obvious. He'd done research on Beacon, and thus Ozpin, but he didn't delve into the insanity of these people any further.

Whatever this smiling green eyed girl was known for, he cared not a single iota.

"This is Pyrrha Nikos"

"Yeah, you said" he shrugged dismissively

"She graduated top of her class at Sanctum!"

"Never heard of it" came his bland rejoinder

"She's a four time Mistral champion!"

With a heaving sigh, his shoulders slumping in exhaustion.

"Honestly? Who the hell cares!?" The snapping tone was unintentional but he was mighty annoyed. All he'd asked this Pyrrha Nikos girl was where they were supposed to be going, then he was subjected to this.

"Why is some useless crap like that important!?"

The white haired bitch flinched, taking a step backwards in slight fear. Her shaky voice calling out for her associates assistance. He back handed the thrown foam spear out of the air which only put further fear into Whitey.

"Seriously? I asked where we were supposed to go and you get your friend to throw shit at me? To think I thought you guys might be friendly"

He walked away without another word, hoping to god that he could follow someone to the arranged meeting place.

He missed the ashen face of Pyrrha, as well as the murderous glare she pinned on Weiss a few moments later. Jaune would never know, having written the two off as too insane to even bother caring about, but he'd accidentally started an immense hatred for the white haired girl. Pyrrha had desperately wanted someone to be honest friends with, someone who didn't know her "fame". Jaune's arrival had been a god send and one Weiss Schnee had chased that away.

Pyrrha would despise Weiss for eternity, no longer having a way off her pedestal despite her future attempts to interact with Jaune. The boy would rebuff her with a polite air, even as her feelings about him changed as she observed his kind(ish) natures and determination to find his sister. An unintentional crush that could never come to fruition because of some snooty princess. Weiss, in turn, would seek redemption to amend this mistake. Uncomfortable with having incurred the wrath of a massively famous and influential potential ally. Nothing would come if it, Jaune would forgive her but summarily never interact with her again, something which never allowed the rift between her and Pyrrha to heal.

Perhaps in a universe where their delusions were reality things would've gone differently, a meeker and involved in their world blond becoming Pyrrhas partner and leader and Weiss' friend.

This was reality, untethered as they unknowingly were, and thus Jaune decided they were too crazy to get involved with.

He did wave at the happily chattering ginger girl though, who threw a thumbs at him behind her male friends back. He had hope on that front at least. Yes, Nora as he'd heard the black haired boy call her, seemed a perfect island in this storm of insanity.

Now, here, I shall explain what I originally wanted of this story.

Firstly, and most important, Jaune is a completely normal person in terms of our reality. He's a bit smarter than average, he's a huge fan of comics and video games, has the same size family who he loves. One of his sisters however is replaced by an adopted Penny Poledina/Arc.

Secondly, Aura isn't real and neither are the Faunus. Dust is real but not like in the show- it's basically coal but under a different name. Lien is the currency of the world and for the sake of my story 1 Lien translate to 1 English Pence. [So a Freddo would (have) cost 10 Lien, a can of Coke 80 Lien and a Playstation 4 somewhere around 2500 Lien. (because we don't yet know the divisions of Cannon Lien i've decided to relate it to my countries smallest amount and thus calculate prices from there)]. Also important to note is that there is absolutely no magic but that the Brother Gods are indeed a religion.

Thirdly, Factions. Huntsman and Huntress under Ozpin are all humans who believe Aura to be real. Salem and the Grimm, they're essentially the "furries" of this world. Everyone else, these are the regular people like Jaune and both sides generally ignore their presence so they can pretend casualties exist when they really don't.

Fourth, Jaune as a character doesn't tolerate the delusions of anyone, though he doesn't necessarily call them out. In essence, when it comes to "Sparring" he doesn't pretend to fight, he actually fights. He hits where the others pretend to. Because of this, the complete normal and powerless Jaune Arc ironically becomes the strongest Huntsman to every exist. He's looking for his sister Penny, and choses Beacon to look for her but has prepared for the fact that if she isn't there all he'll need to do is wait two terms for the festival and he can find her then amongst the transfers. He dislikes Pyrrha and Weiss, but gets on fairly well with Ruby. Yang thinks him dangerous due to his utter lack of care for the "Grimm" and the "bad" things they do, whereas Blake grows to idolise him because of how quickly and easily he stands up for the "Faunus" students. (He is slightly trained in martial arts whereas no one else at Beacon is, or relies on flambouyant acting rather than legitimate fighting, and all the other students pretend to fight anyway so they've not taken an real punches before. Even Yatsuashi would crumble from a single punch because, as said, he's never hit or been hit before because it's all pretend, real to them though). His greatest friend, and a preferred option if romance is involved, is Nora. She's still exactly like her cannon self, but she is well aware that none of what Beacon touts it real. Essentially she's in the same position as Jaune, but instead of looking for a family member she's just supporting her friend Ren. Team RWBY still forms but JNPR drops the J and Jaune becomes a Solo student due to his "skill"

Right that's pretty much everything. I hope that made sense, if not... Well... Fyuck.

G'night you Cyunts!
