Norman is the first one to touch down on the murky water of the sewer tunnel, he lets out a disgusted frown from the feel and coldness of the sewer water that flowed passed him. Shortly after his friends also came down by climbing the wall except Aggie who just floated down, their feet touch the water and like Norman they to had the look of disgust.
"Oh man this is so sick, and I don't mean the cool sick." Alvin exclaimed.
"I agree considering were walking in the town's toilet water." Salma stated.
"Ick don't remind me." Alvin replied.
"Good thing I can float above this disgusting water." Aggie piped up.
Neil looked back and forth of the tunnel in confusion, "So which way do we go guys?"
Salma looked in both directions with a critical eye, then pointed her flashlight to the left, "Blithe Hollow is that way."
"Come on." Norman leads the group down the tunnel, the water splash under them as they walk, they shine their flashlights forward and the side to get their bearings, Salma walked next to Neil and looked at the bite mark on his face in worry. "You feeling all right Neil?"
Neil gives her a small smile or reassurance, " Yeah I'm fine."
"You sure it looks like it hurts a lot, plus those look deep."
"Well it hurts when I talk, but I can't let this set back on what were going to do."
"Neil those could get infected if they aren't treated, I strongly recommend we get those patched up when we get back."
Neil gives her a smile then a thumbs up. Behind the two Alvin looked up at the tunnel's ceiling in fascination mainly from the wavery water effect that were reflected by the lights. He also felt a coldness, he glanced down to see the floating glow stick that is bobbing up and down behind Norman; although he couldn't see her full body he knew that she is giving him dirty looks and he knew why for what he said yesterday, if he wasn't on her least favorite people list before he certainly was now. He wasn't even sure apologizing would do anything as the things were personal and he wasn't known for apologizing so it would be a challenge.
The five exit the tunnel and came upon a catacomb that had large pipes from the ceiling to the ground with some that had openings which allowed the water to flow out in a waterfall. In between them and the next tunnel is a gap, Neil gets to the edge and looked down it to see murky water below.
"How do we get across?"
"We gotta expand the bridge." Salma explained, then she pointed to the other side to a box that had a large lever. "And unfortunately the control for the bridge is on the other side."
"Don't worry I got this." Aggie flew over the gap and pulled down the lever, the bridge makes a sound as it slowly moves to the other side where it makes a large bang when it connects to the other side. The others walk across the bridge, "Good job Aggie." Norman complimented in which Aggie gives him a thankful smile in response, the five walk into the tunnel.
Outside thunder roared above the town, the wind began to pick up blowing away leaves, and small trees swayed, and lighting flashes in the sky. On the ground the citizens looked up at the sky in both fascination and anxiously as the storm came out from nowhere, and that the weatherman said that the today was supposed to be clear all day.
In the post office two middle age guys watched as a fork of lightning flashes above the town hall, "Boy Leo looks like we're getting a big storm."
"Sure looks like it Henry, and it looks like it's going to be bigger than the one we had last time."
"Boy just our luck huh, we just finished cleaning up from the last one."
"Yeah Bob is probably groaning in his office upon seeing this."
Meanwhile in the Babcock living room Courtney is laying on the couch reading a teen magazine, she would've been on her phone now but for some reason she wasn't getting any reception, so she just decided to read, Courtney is reading a part on the latest diets when she felt a tap on her shoulder. Courtney looked up from her magazine to see her dad looking down at her.
"Hey Courtney do you know where Norman went to today?"
"I think he went over to Neil's, why you ask?"
"A big storm looks like is about to drop down on us."
"Really?
"Yeah and it looks like it's going to be pretty bad, and your mother is starting to get worried so can you go and get Norman please?"
Courtney puts her magazine down, "Sure I have nothing else to do today."
"Thanks and be careful out there."
Courtney nodded as she got up from the couch, she went over to the closet and put on her pink and white jacket along with a black umbrella; she then walked out the front door where she saw the dark clouds in surprise, thunder banged loudly above which caused her to flinch. "This is totally going to be a bad storm." Courtney began to walk her way to Neil's house.
Norman, Neil, Salma, Aggie, and Alvin came out of the tunnel and came upon a circleliar room with multiple tunnel openings, and tree roots hanging from the ceiling. Neil shined his flashlight through each of the tunnel openings, "Which way do we go now?"
Salma looked at each tunnel carefully in order to decide which was the right way, she looked to the one on the far right when the sound of flustering feathers echoed out from one of the tunnels.
"Did you guys hear that?" Neil asked.
The sound of the feathers echoed again, everyone looked around looking for the source, Alvin looked down one tunnel and saw two glowing eyes looking back at him.
"Hey dudes what's that?"
The glowing eyes rush forward revealing a giant bird, the bird flew out of the tunnel with IT'S talons out, Aggie ducked down and felt her hair flow out as IT flew past her, the bird let's out a loud squawk as it turns Itself around then flew towards Salma, Salma ducked down but felt the claws of the talons tear into her shoulder making her cry out in pain. The bird began to lift her up, the claws digging deeper into her, Norman rushes to them and wacked the bird's wing the bird let's go of Salma and tumbled onto the ground.
The bird gets up, turns to them and raises IT'S great wings and squawked loudly, Alvin leaned down and picked up a sharp rock and threw it, where it hit IT in the knee which drew out blood, the bird lets out a painful roar then flew off back into the tunnel.
Salma clenched her arm while kneeling down to the ground, "You okay?" Norman asked as he helped her up.
"Other than the searing pain on my shoulder I say yes."
A low growl filled the room, they look around trying to pinpoint it's location. "Get OUT of this place while you still can!" Pennywise growled.
"Show yourself!" Aggie demanded as she looked around the room, Pennywise's laughter rang out through the room.
"Silly ghost girl." They turn to a tunnel to their left and saw Pennywise standing there with a cracked forehead and held a bunch of red balloons in IT'S hand. "You think you can see me now." IT mocked before laughing, "You dirty children will never get out of here alive. Go now this is your last chance for if you stay you all loose your little minds in my deadlights like the others who dared fight me. Like all the others." Pennywise goes into fits of laughter as IT slowly disappeared.
"Right the lair must be that way." Norman moved to the tunnel where Pennywise just was.
"Wait I know I said earlier that I wanted to die as a hero, but are you sure we can fight that thing? We're literally fighting with smoke."
"Don't you get it Alvin? In order for IT to feed IT has to have a physical form." Norman replied.
The five go into the tunnel and when they entered they all felt this cold chill along with this rotten smell, they walked further down the water rose up to their waists except Aggie who floated higher, the water suddenly shrunk down to their feet as they walked up onto dry concrete, Neil shined his flashlight to the floor which showed a couple of torn clothes with bloodstains dragged out. They stopped for a bit looking at the clothes and blood before continuing onwards.
The clothes became more frequent, the clothes range from modern, eighties, fifty's, and even clothes from Aggie's time. They turned a corner to find a opening, they walk up to the opening to see a very large cavern, there were spider like webs on the walls, and a island with trash mountains made up of children toys from various ages, in the middle of the island are spikes that rose up as if in a paused explosion.
"Woah! Look at this place." Neil exclaimed.
"Yeah it's huge, dang so this has been under Blithe Hollow forever?" Alvin also exclaimed.
"No judging by the carvings on the rocks I say about ten thousand years." Salma casually responded.
"So how do we get across? That water looks very deep." Neil stated.
Norman shined his flashlight to the left which showed a old wood raft on the dry concrete.
The clouds became darker when Courtney arrived at the Downe's house, her hair blew back as she knocked on the door. The door opened and Mitch with a blue jacket stepped out, "Oh hey Kathy."
"Hello Mitch it's Courtney by the way, I'm here to get Norman."
"Oh sorry he, Neil, and the girl in the glasses left about a couple hours ago. I was just about to go out in the van and get them."
"You mind if I come along?"
Mitch shrugged, "Okay."
Mitch and Courtney entered his van and then drove off to town to find their brothers.
The five reached the island on their raft (of course Aggie could've flew across, but she didn't want to go alone so she just sat with the others on the raft.) They step onto the island and stood next to one of the large trash mountains, Neil looked at the old toys with this strange sadness, his eyes then caught something peculiar near the bottom of the mountain; it was a doll of a girl covered in old bloodstains, and had black button eyes.
"This is a weird doll." He thought, he glanced next to the doll and saw a dirty piece of paper with a faint bloodstain message, 'Beldam is nothing compared to me!"
As Neil looked at the weird note the others looked around the island, Aggie and Norman were near the center of the island Aggie glanced upward and paused, her eyes widened and her mouth opens in utter shock, Aggie lifts her arm up and touched Norman's shoulder getting his attention.
"What's wrong Aggie?"
Aggie doesn't respond instead she stayed in her shock expression, Norman glanced up and he to developed a shock expression.
Up above them were thousands of ghosts in a stunned state orbiting above the island, the spirits had missing body parts and were mixed in time with ghosts from the eighties and the current time. One of the ghosts who was a boy with his ghostly body torn in half notices them and spoke in a panicking voice, "You two what are you doing here? Get out of here while you still can!"
"What are all of you doing here?" Norman manage to spit out.
"We are basically food storage for IT, I am part of the kids that were killed in the eighties and soon we're going to be eaten."
"What do you mean?" Aggie asked.
"After IT kills our physical bodies, our spirits are stored here and while the new ones stick around here the old ones such us I, will be sucked down and vaporate into nothing as IT slumbers for twenty seven years."
The ghost of Tim looked down at them. "Leave before IT comes back!"
"We're here to take care of IT." Norman said.
"Yeah don't worry will help you, will help all you." Aggie added.
"But if you stay here you'll float to." Tim warned.
Two other ghosts spoke up, "You'll float to."
Half of the ghosts spoke up, " You'll float to!"
All the ghosts spoke loudly, "YOU'LL FLOAT TO!"
"YOU'LL FLOAT TO! YOU'LL FLOAT TO! YOU'LL FLOAT TO! YOU'LL FLOAT TO! YOU'LL FLOAT TO! YOU'LL FLOAT TO! YOU'LL FLOAT TO! YOU'LL FLOAT TO!" The ghosts kept repeating this over and over again, they were so loud that they both had to cover their ears it wasn't until they heard Alvin shout in fright over the ghosts that they uncovered their ears, turned to him along with Salma and Neil who all jumped in fright as Pennywise stood in a crouching position on top of one of the trash mountains.
"Oh you'll float little Normie and Aggie! Yes you'll float with your friends!" Pennywise goes off into a fit of laughter. "Oh I suppose you're going to use that silly ritual on me aren't you?"
Norman took a step forward with determination, "Yes we are and were going to stop you."
"Oh you filthy little freak, you think a silly little ritual can hurt me! Your uncle thought that and I drove him mad, those poor natives thought so too but it didn't work out for them either."
"It could work now." Neil meekly said.
Pennywise crawls down the mountain slowly, eight large spider legs came out of IT'S body, IT'S body morphs into a spider's body making IT grow taller. "You were foolish to come here." Extra eyes open up on IT'S head. Norman and the others stepped back as IT'S front legs stepped on the ground, "You'll all die here!" Spider fangs grew out of IT'S mouth and IT'S voice grew deeper.
"This is bad." Alvin said.
"Time to floatttttttt!" IT raises IT'S arm up which now grew a sharp spike on the end. IT slashes at Neil who got pulled out of the way by Salma in the nick of time, the claw stabbed into the ground then pulled free. The five ran for it, IT growls and gives chase, IT knocks over a trash mountain with one of IT'S legs. IT raises IT'S arm up and slammed the claw down between Neil and Alvin, Norman tripped from the impact Neil and Alvin run past him Norman gets to his knees, then closed his eyes waiting for IT to grab him or stab him with IT'S claws.
But to his surprise IT just ran over him paying him no mind, instead IT continued to chase his friends; Aggie twists her upper body back and shot out a bolt of lightning', but IT rose IT'S right arm up and not only blocked it with IT'S claw but also deflected the bolt right back at her, Aggie's ghostly body swirled in electricity and she lets out a scream of pain, she drifted down and went through the floor.
Neil and Salma ran towards one of the trash mountains, the two jumped and ducked behind a pile of toys. Alvin with IT close on his heels ran straight for the water, IT opens IT'S mouth and snapped closed near his back, Alvin leaps for the water, IT almost catches him by the legs but just missed. Alvin dived head first into the murky water, he held his breath as he didn't want to face IT, but then he felt something slimy wrap around his leg, he lets out a gurgle of fright and tried to get himself free, however the slimy thing kept a firm grip and dragged him deeper into the water.
"Do you see IT anywhere Salma?
Salma peeked out over the pile of toys and scanned the area, she goes back down quickly. "I don't see any thing Neil, come on we should get back to Norman." Salma stands up then four doll hands came out of the pile and grabbed her by the ankles, a metal hand also grabbed Neil's ankle, the two let out a scream as they got dragged down into the pile.
Norman gets to his feet and ran against one of the large spikes of the impact site, he peeks out and couldn't see IT or any of his friends, Norman stepped out from the spike, IT suddenly jumped down in front of him letting out a loud roar. Norman flinched a bit, but then locked his eyes with the giant spider he could feel his body shake, but somehow found the courage to speak.
"Your time of terrifying the town is over."
IT roared in response.
"I, I, I'm not scared of you." Norman stated though it was clearly a lie, he was absolutely terrified and just wanted nothing more to do then get out of here, but like that faithful night with Aggie's angry sprit he needed to do this.
Norman goes to say something else when IT opens IT'S mouth wide open and a bright light emerges from within, the light makes him go numb, his eyes went white, his mouth went wide, and he could feel his mind begin to crumble, as he kept looking at them he saw that the lights were admitting from three small balls of light that were circling around inside IT'S throat. Norman's body rose up from the ground and floated in midair with the lights still on him.
The storm began in an instant, there wasn't even a chance to do anything as the rain poured down hard and the winds blowed in hurricane force, trees bend, shingles and roofs blow off, and lighting flashes everywhere. People out on the streets struggle against the hurricane force winds, a large tree next to a house collapses and smashed through the middle of a house.
Mitch's van windshield got blurred up by the intense downpour, he struggled in control as the wind blew against his van, besides him Courtney held on tight to the handle as the van swayed.
"All man this storm is bad, I've never seen anything like this."
"I think you should pull over Mitch." Courtney said.
"Yeah good idea." Mitch pulls his van over in front of his brother's school, through the blurred windshield the two could see a faint image of a semi flying in the sky like a toy.
"Will wait till the storm passes then continued on the search."
"Good idea Mitch." The two then see a house get smashed by the same flying semi, "I hope they found shelter from this storm."
"Me to." Mitch replied with worry heard in his voice.
