Sylvie Brett's POV

"11 year old female. Was hit by car. BP 93 over 58, heart rate 70." I said as Dawson and I wheeled Naia in.

I gave Maggie a smile and she smiled back before calling out.

"Incoming!"

Dr. Manning and Dr. Halstead came running.

They directed us into an empty room and we rolled the stretcher in.

"On my count," Dr. Manning said, "One, two, three."

We lifted the stretcher onto the bed.

"She was hit by a car." Dawson said.

"Have you called the family?" Dr. Halstead asked.

"I wouldn't." Dr. Manning replied and I remembered that she had treated Naia last time.

Dawson snorted. "Exactly."

I pulled Dawson by the elbow and out the door.

"Remember," I warned, "We drop them off and leave."

Dawson looked back at the room.

"I'll do an ultrasound." Dr. Manning said and as she pulled out the stuff. She looked carefully at the screen.

"Looks like she's bleeding internally." Dr. Manning said and Dr. Halstead nodded. "Start an IV. Let's get her up to the OR."

Dawson looked pale.

"You okay?" I asked as I steered her out of the hospital.

"It's all my fault. I pushed her too far. I shouldn't have let go of her arm." Dawson said. I shook my head and wrapped my best friend into a hug.

"It's not your fault. It was a fluke." I whispered as we broke apart.

Dawson shook her head. "It's all my fault if she doesn't make it."

"Naia's tough. You know it. She'll pull through." I said and Dawson nodded.

"Hopefully."
