Radiant Garden with Ventus, Axel and Gula. Bolstered by the numerous warriors of the world the heroes are able to face the hoards in direct combat. Over the course of the battle it is revealed that Maleficent has aligned herself with these heartless believe them willing to give her dominion over the darkness.
As it would turn out, her ambitions have only served to lose the last piece of humanity within her, and she became a mindless beast in the process. Pete, trying his best to maintain his ally's good graces, is nearly destroyed by her mindless rampage. Fortunately Gula is able to save the toon just in time, but in the process accidentally reveals his face Ventus.
The blond is surprised to find a striking resemblance to Sora in his master. When he finds time to ask about it, Gula has very little insight himself (having to settle for it being a "coincidence" whenever he brought it up with the master). There isn't time to further question him before a new threat rears its head.
An alarune type heartless, nearly the size of a building, erupts from the center of the battlefield. At first the Ally forces become overwhelmed from the onslaught, but with a little quick thinking, they find a solution to their problem by tricking Maleficent into attacking the Alarune.
The battlefield is plunged into complete chaos as the giant creatures clash. Eventually the draconic Maleficent gains the upper hand and slays the Alarune. Two hearts escape the form and begins to go through the same process the other invisibles. Before it can reach the void moon a ball of light collides into it. A metamorphosis takes place as the hearts seemingly goes through an invisible game of tug o' war, bursting into a radiant stream of light before settling into the unconscious forms of Lauriam and Relena.
Maleficent rears back to finish the two off again, but the heroes jump in to defend. A short battle with the injured and deranged Maleficent ensues. When at last the dragon is slain, a pure-black heart descends and overtakes the corrupted corpse, giving the body of the wicked fairy new life. Wary, the champions of order ready themselves to face a new threat, but are stopped when Gula recognizes the situation and orders everyone to lower their weapons.
Standing, the body of Maleficent pops its joints and groans. It then begins to mutter "So I'm stuck with a hag this time around huh? Whelp (*stretch), beggars can't be choosers."
The rest of the heroes soon discover that this is Luxu, whose heart is (more or less) immortal. However, as a consequence the only bodies that can support it must be irredeemably dark (a trick that Xehanort acquired when he was partially possessed).
His presence here, much to the dread of all in attendance, means that the Dark Inferno defeated the veteran, and is now free to rampage.
A/N:
Yep, I've been sitting on this one for a while. Honestly I don't know how this chapter will be taken. But the more I think about it the more I realize that this is far from the greatest leap in logic I've taken you all on. So I hope that you all enjoy this chapter, or at least find enough to pick apart.
