chapter 18 survival of the fittest
"Where are they?" Wilykat asked.
"In mountains looking for a pass." Panthro said.
"Not Tygra, Lion-o, and Liosia." Wilykit said. They looked through bag for candy fruit.
"Hey what happened to it?" Wilykat asked.
Snarf burped and Scooper hiccuped.
"Oh great," Wilykit said.
"Snarf, Scooper, why did you have to eat all of it?" Wilykat asked.
"You two are overreacting." Panthro said. "It's time for a new lesson, hunting." he said.
"So what say Panthro want to turn this into a competition?" Cheetara asked.
"That sounds interesting." Panthro said.
"Boys verses girls?" Cheetara asked.
"I doubt that would be helpful since Lynx-o is blind," Wilykat said.
"Hey I've hunted before I can hear and smell things coming," Lynx-o said. "Besides I don't want to, and if did want the boys would out number the girls" he said.
"Sorry," Wilykat said.
"I'll go," Bengali said.
Wilykat and Wilykit were remembering how they became orphans. They had two loving parents and two younger siblings. They lived on a farm and their father was one of the best farmers around. The farm was huge. Plenty of fruits and vegetables were grown there and he sold them on the market. Their father was head of the farm. He was so good at it he was one who was able to provide easily for his family.
Their father also had some farm hands. He paid them well even gave them a share of the crops to take home. He was a wonderful father and a good boss.
Their mother was wonderful too. She made many tasty foods and pastries out of the produce her husband farmed and sold it on the market as well.
They had a happy life and it was wonderful and full of laughter. Then one day Wilykit and Wilykat's happy lives came to an end. Some weasel crooks came in and attacked the farm and burned it. Wilykit and Wilykat managed to hide with their younger siblings. They came out when it was over and saw there home was torched and in ruin. To make matters worse their parents were no were in sight.
They didn't know what to do.
The hunt wasn't successful for either team so Panthro decided. "Until you bring something to eat you won't sleep inside the Thundertank tonight." he said.
The kittens sighed and went to go hunt.
Wilykit and Wilykat began to think of their life after their parents disappeared and they took their younger siblings to Thundera when the food was gone they found a couple that worked for their father and let them take in their brother and sister but left to fend for themselves in the middle of the night.
They saw the creatures that they tried to hunt before they had babies. "They're a family." Wilykat said.
"If we kill the parents the babies will die too, I think we should find something else to hunt," Wilykit said.
They saw a creature attack the chib-chibs using quick thinking the cubs brought down the creature.
The chib-chibs were grateful for the help and took them to a fruit grove and the twins picked the fruit and returned with it.
"You kids may have what it takes to be on your own after all." Panthro said.
"Yes maybe," Wilykit said.
