Authors note: Welcome to the next chapter of the Draugr. In the last chapter seems that Hans found out the truth and... uhhh I will let you all read what happened.

Also yes... Elsa really wants to kill Kristoff right now...

Anyway, enough of me blabbering, please continue to read on to your hearts content and please leave a review when done as your opinions matter.

~The price of anything is the amount of life you exchange for it~

"Elsa I-" the voice in Hans throat died down as he stared at the scene before him, Anna was there, dressed in a green dress decorated with purple crocuses, she was arm in arm with some stranger, he was fairly tall, strong build, shaggy blond hair.

But his looks did not matter as Hans full attention was on the fact that the two were holding one another in an intimate way, even worse he noticed how both of them wore matching rings.

Meanwhile Elsa was panicking internally, she had been so desperately trying to prevent this, but sadly it seems that fate itself wanted the scene that was to come to play out.

Somehow containing his rage Hans said in a surprisingly sweet voice "Anna, who is that?", Anna just stared, not being able to say a word as she stared at her undead ex-fiancé meanwhile Kristoff stared baffled, barely able to spit out the words he spoke "Who... you?",

"I am her fiancé" Hans answered hissing out the words.

Fearing he was going into rage Elsa stepped in and said "Hans please, let me explain-",

"No need" growled Hans as he turned to face her and demanded "When were you going to tell me?",

"I... I wanted to tell you... but" began Elsa,

"What are you doing here?!" finally Anna yelled out in anger. Turning to look at Hans he felt sorrow rise from the pit of his stomach, it hurt so much to see the one he loved in the arms of another, sure he felt that he would have been used to it by now, but with Anna... it just hurt too much to see her having replaced him with somebody else.

Was he just not good enough for anybody?

"Anna! You have to listen to me! It was not me! I was possessed! I would never hurt you!" began Hans, desperate to get her to believe him, he wanted her to so badly.

Disgusted and angry Anna yelled "Why would I believe you! Your a liar! You left me to die and almost killed my sister",

"I did not!",

"Yes you did! Ask kristoff if you do not believe me!" snapped Anna.

Looking at the blond something snapped inside of Hans. It was all his fault! Kristoff was the one who caused him to be possessed! How Hans knew he was not sure, but he knew!

The more he though of it the more rage Hans felt before the next thing he knew he charged towards Kristoff and delivered a punch to his stomach.

Bending over Kristoff gasped and then yelled as Hans punched the side of his face. Reacting Kristoff threw a punch, colliding with Hans shoulder, his knuckles hurt as he punched again but Hans grabbed and threw kristoff against a wall.

As his back made contact with the wall Kristoff gasped before grabbing a nearby pot and smashing it against Hans. Not deterred Hans continued his attack as he pulled both under, pinning Kristoff to the ground and proceeding to punch him over and over.

As he punched Hans held back his strength, he wanted to kill Kristoff, but slowly as he wanted him to feel some of the pain he felt.

"Its your fault! You messed with her mind!" Hans yelled as he punched.

"Hans stop!" yelled Anna as she tried to grab and pull Hans off of Kristoff, but it was no use, Hans was far too heavy to pull off.

"Out of my way!" yelled Hans as he pushed Anna away,

"Stop it! Your killing him!",

"He deserves it!" yelled hans,

"No!" yelled Anna as Elsa reacted, throwing ice at Hans at full force, knocking him off of Kristoff.

Gagging and coughing Kristoff slowly rose to his side, spilling blood, his nose broken, his cheek swollen and probably a tooth or two lost.

Slowly shattering the ice Hans got up and looked at Elsa, feeling betrayed.

"Elsa",

"Hans this is not right! You cannot hurt Kristoff!" yelled Elsa,

"He did this Elsa! He lied! He used you and the situation to get Anna!" yelled Hans at her "I am even willing to bet he is planning to kill you off!",

"It does not matter!",

"It does!" yelled Hans, if he could cry he would, never had he felt so heartbroken in his entire life,

"Anna still would not have love you" said Elsa,

"What do you know?! You know nothing!",

"If your own parents did not want you what makes you think anybody will?!" yelled Elsa in the heat of anger. As soon as those words left Elsas mouth her anger melted away as horror replaced it.

Placing a hand to her mouth Elsa did not mean those words, she did not even know why she said it. Was it that she was angry at Hans reaction or was it that deep down she was hurt that it seems that his affections were only for her sister?

At first Hans stared in shock before his fave turned to sadness. Slowly he turned his back.

"Hans I-" began Elsa wanting to apologize, but Hans stopped her and said "I get it..." reaching to his neck he took off the snowflake necklace Elsa had given him.

Gently he set it on the ground before walking away. As he walked away he felt alone, abandoned, like dirt... no... lower than dirt.

As he walked pass he forced himself to look away from Anna who was busy tending to kristoff. His heart broke more.

As Hans left Elsa stared, regret and sadness filling her heart.

"It though he would never leave" said Anna releaved, turning to Kristoff Elsa glared and said "You know he was telling the truth",

"Your not serious are you?" said Anna shocked "You cannot possibly believe him",

"I do, because I know the truth" said Elsa then glared at Kristoff "Do you want to tell your wife the truth or should I?",

"What are you talking about?" said Kristoff groaning in pain as Anna tended to him.

"You lied Kristoff, you knew that Hans was innocent and you did not say anything" said Elsa, her voice getting angrier and angrier.

Anna stopped and looked at Elsa flabergasted at what she said, Elsa continued "You overheard your family! How they plotted and made it so that you would be with Anna... how they possessed Hans mind so he would hurt Anna and me",

"Oh no, not you too, don't tell me that he fooled you too" said Anna shocked and angry,

"Its the truth Anna! I saw it with my own eyes!" said Elsa,

"It is a lie! I know Kristoff! He would never do anything like that!" said Anna defending Kristoff who just looked on in shock,

"Why would I lie?! I am your sister Anna!" Elsa cried out,

"He brainwashed you Elsa! He got into your head and made you believe this lie!" Anna yelled.

Elsa stared, as much as she wished it was a lie, that he did brainwashed her, she knew all too well it was the truth. The truth mirror showed her everything, the horror of it all, she had heard once said that the truth is far more terrifying than fiction.

Her "happily ever after"... it came at a terrible cost. It cost Hans his life... and now that she knew what she knew... it cost her her peace of mind.

Forever she will be plagued with guilt, the events will play in her head forever and there will never be a day that she will not be sorry for what happened as it was far to late to make anything right...

Reaching into her bag Elsa pulled out the truth mirror and said "I speak the truth, please Anna if you just let me-",

"No Elsa, I do not want to hear it" said Anna defiantly "He is liar and a manipulator, nothing will ever change that".

Gripping her hand on the mirror in anger Elsa could not believe that Anna was so unreasonable. How could she not listen to her?! She had proof! If she just listened to her she would show her...

"Not even the truth" said Elsa softly,

"I trust Kristoff before anybody" said Anna firmly,

"Not even me? You trust him over me? Is that what your saying?" asked Elsa now hurt, how could she trust a man over her own sister?

At that moment Anna realized the implication of what she said. Her eyes widen and she began "No, I am sorry, what I meant-"

At that moment Elsa turned and left, deciding to deal with Anna and Kristoff later. First she would find Hans and hopefully find some solution to this... she owed him that much...

The forest was quiet when Elsa entered it, looking around she called out Hans name, the name echoed through the forest as if it was an empty cave.

"Hans!" Elsa called out again, again her voice echoed, but this time there was another noise, kind of a grinding noise.

Turning Elsa ran after the noise, following it, only slowing down when the noise came upon her sight. It was Hans, he was hugging a tree or at least its what it seems.

Only upon a closer look Elsa realized he was not hugging the tree, he was gripping unto it, his fingers digging unto the bark which he was stripping.

He was angry, she could tell, for a moment she hesitated as she wondered if she should approach him or just let him cool down a bit before trying to talk to him but if she chose that she ran the risk of his disappearing off to who knows where and she would never see him again.

So taking a deep breath Elsa said "Hans... I.." she swallowed as she saw him stop, he did not respond her, but she knew he was listening so she continued "I am sorry, but please list-",

"I am done listening to you" Hans interrupted, his voice was cold, colder than the ice she commander.

He turned around to face her, his eyes were as black as night, his hands were tight in a fist.

"I am done listening to your lies" he said again,

"Hans, I am sorry for what I said, I did not mean it" began Elsa "Just please, give me another chance, we can work something out, we can-" at that moment there was a crash, Elsa froze.

Next to her Hans had punched a hole in the tree.

"You know when I saw you I wanted to kill you, I wanted to hurt you as much as I hurt, but I held myself back... I held myself because I was stupid enough to believe that maybe you were not the ice queen I though you were" Hans hissed in her ear "But now I see the truth, your just like everybody else".

At that moment Elsa reacted, dodging the incoming punch, it hit the tree so hard the trunk split and broke.

"Hans stop!" yelled Elsa as she made an ice sword appear and held it, pointing it at him,

"Why?! Why do I have to pay the price for everybodies mistake! Your mistake!" yelled Hans as he advanced towards her "I did everything! I did the right thing! I went beyond and still it was not enough! I am dirty as sin! Tortured! Hated! And dead! And you! You who made this mistake is hailed as a hero! Acting all high and mighty even when you did not even try to fix your own mistake! How is that fair?!"

Elsa swung at him, he caught the sword and broke it and pushed her back.

Making ice appear on her fist she and Hans got into a fist fight. Hans trying to hit her, she blocking him.

"It should have been me! I should have been living happily ever after! I took care of Arendelle while you ran away! I made sure your people were safe! I tried to actually find a solution!" yelled Hans as he punched over and over, Elsa dodged and block. She could have hurt him, froze him, but she did not...

He punched and soon she noticed the punches came slower and slower till they finally stopped. Falling to his knees he whispered "Why... Why... what did I do that was so wrong to be punished this way?".

Slowly Elsa thawed her hands, walking over she reached for him. Her heart aching for him as she said "I understand... your in a lot of pain... and... your right to feel angry... to feel sad... you do not need to bottle it up"

Hans did not answer, he did not even look at her.

"I am sorry for what I said... its not true.. I..." Elsa hesitated. She could not say it, she wanted to, but she knew he would not believe her if he heard her say it and maybe it would do more damage than good...

Taking a deep breath Elsa placed a hand on his shoulder and whispered

Someday
Somewhere
Somehow
You'll love again
You just need to find someone

Hans just moved, shrugging her hand off of his shoulder, but Elsa refused to give up as she tried again.

Someday
Somewhere
Somehow

You'll love again
You just need to find someone
Someone who treats you better
Someone who wants you around
Someday
Somewhere
Somehow
You're gonna feel found

There was silence before Hans said "You not fooling me, you cannot make everything better by singing a song",

"I know, but I want to make this right" said Elsa softly "Tell me what to do", Hans said nothing as he got up and finally said "Its too late..."

Nodding Elsa got up with him, not able to face him.

"Give me the mirror... I will take it back to the mountain..." said Hans as he turned and extended his hand "You just take Njord and head back to Arendelle... there is nothing else you can do",

"But, what about you?" asked Elsa worried,

"Nothing... just wait for the day I stop existing..." answered Hans, his tone was flat.

"Alone?" asked Elsa worried,

"Its better that way, at least I will not be hurt if I am alone" said Hans,

"But maybe I can-",

"No" said Hans firmly "You have done enough"

Elsa did not protest, slowly she handed him the mirror. Once in his hand Hans turned and left, just like that, not saying a single word.

Elsa watched as he disappeared behind the trees. She wanted to call out, to tell him that she cared about him and did not want to leave him alone.

Was it due to guilt? Or had she actually grown to care about him? She was not sure and it was very likely that she will never know.

"I care for you" whispered Elsa, he did not hear, but she had to say it. She could not leave without saying it. Once it was spoken Elsa left, making his way back to the southern isles castle to go back to Arendelle.

For sadly there was nothing else she could do. No matter how much she wanted to, no matter how much she wanted to change. To make it better. But there was no fixing it, there was no changing it... and it made her heartache...

A frozen heart, Elsa wondered if she had such a thing, did anybody? If she had it then why does her heart ache so much?

As she walked out of the forest, every so often Elsa stopped and looked back, hoping Hans would have changed her mind and decided to follow her, but never once did she spot him.

Arriving to the castle she was approached by Anna who looked to be ready to run after her.

"Are you okay? What happened?" She asked among other questions Elsa did not notice among how she was sorry and did not mean what she said.

Saying nothing Elsa just walked up to her room, ignoring Anna, she just entered her room and sat on the bed.

Giving up Anna decided to leave Elsa alone.

As she sat there Elsa just though of what happened.

When Elsa was left alone Stephen walked in, ready for the final act.

"You okay?" asked Stephen faking concern as he approached Elsa.

She hesitated to say, telling him what she learned would be seen as treason, but the guilt was far too much so Elsa told him.

As she told him his eyes widen, he looked angry then sad then sighted before saying "I cannot believe it, How could you let this happen?",

"I am sorry, I did not know" said Elsa as she tried not to cry, she was all over the place even worse when he said "You know this means war right?",

"Kingn Stephen, I am sorry, I did not know!" Said Elsa fearful of her people, they had gone through enough already! They do not deserve to go to war "Please reconsider! I will do anything to fix this!",

"Anything?" asked Stephen as he was barely able to suppress a chuckle of delight,

"Yes!" said Elsa, he pretended to think then said "There is one thing you can do which can benefit us both",

"Name it",

"There is a ritual, if completed it will set any wrong right, but it requires a sacrifice" said Stephen,

"What sacrifice?" asked Elsa almost scared,

"Yourself, but don't worry, if completed it will be as if nothing happened, like it was all nothing but a bad dream" promised Stephen.

Elsa hesitated as she though then her mind went back to Hans and her people. What happened and what she knew.

The choice was clear. She will fix things, no matter what the price she has to pay.

"What must I do?" asked Elsa never knowing that Njord was nearby, listening to what was being said.

Horrified and knowing the truth the black cat left in a hurry. Hoping to find Hans and get him to stop Elsa from making the biggest mistake of her life.

Outside Hans walked, there was nothing else he could do. He said his piece, he did as promised, Elsa is back in the capital, he saw Anna...

Shaking his head Hans tried to ignore what happened, what was done was done, Elsa tricked him, Anna hates him... that's the end of it... the end of his story...

As he moved he looked behind, the forest got denser and denser. Then looking forward he stopped when he noticed an old building.

"Hu" whispered Hans as he walked closer, it was old, covered in vines and debri, he would have never noticed it any other day.

When close enough Hans took out his ice sword and cut off some vines and trees to find a large wooden double doors.

Pressing his hand against the door he stroked the doors symbols.

"The royal crests?" He though before he pushed the old door open to reveal the building was full of statues.

Taking a step into the building he jumped when birds flew away startled. They flew out of the area through an opening in the ceiling.

The bit of light coming down Illuminated the area, letting Hans see the statues well enough. They were all of heroes past, Florian, Phillip...

Pressing his hand against the statue of Phillip Hans sighted before walking pass the statue as he reminiscent the stories of all of them. He knew them by heart, Taran the hero of pyrian, King arthur, all of them.

Moving Hans traced the carvings and statues. People he wished to be, but will never be.

He closed his eyes as he though of how he could have been one of them, if it was not for that.. That poser!... Christopher... Kristan.. whoever that brute was!...

Shaking his head Hans knew it was no use, this was how his story ended, it ended as it began, forgotten, unloved, hated, what was the point of trying if he never got anywhere no matter how hard he tried?

Then he heard a clank, he cursed when he saw he accidentally dropped the truth mirror. Reaching down he picked up the mirror to find the reflective surface shining.

Turning it to look memories filled Hans head, he saw himself helping the villagers, saving them, the adventure he went with Elsa.

A smile spread through his face, of course... how could he have forgotten? Yes he may not be like the heroes he idolized... he may not have slain a dragon like Phillip or saved a country like Taran, but he did his best!

He saved people, he helped those he encountered. So who cares if he is not like them! He did his best and when/if he crossed over he will do so with a clear conscious and no regrets.

Invigorated with this though Hans ran, he made his way out of the building and towards the cliff nearby. It was somewhat of a legendary cliff as it was known as the cliff overlooking the burning sea. As he ran he picked up speed, determined to get there before the sun set.

With that he went faster and faster, determined to get there, seeing the cliff up ahead he pushed himself before stopping right at the edge, any closer and he would have fallen into the sea.

Looking towards it he saw the sun slowly setting under the ocean, turning its blue waters into a bright red and orange, waves crashed against the cliff, droplets falling all over like hot embers of an open fire. It was truly a spectacular view.

Smiling a little to himself Hans backed away to make his way back to the mountain he heard a scream "Hans!",

"Njord?" asked Hans as he looked and much to his shock the black cat ran over to him. Stopping he breathed hard and gasped,

"Njord? What are you doing here? I though-",

"You have to go back! Elsa... the isles... everybody is in grave danger!" said Njord between raspy breaths.

Eyes widening Hans demanded "What happened?! What is going on?!",

"Hans! Its Elsa! You have to go back and stop her!" said Njord in between breaths.

"Stop, explain" said Hans confused. Recovering his breath Njord explained what happened.

As he listened Hans felt his bitterness grow as he said "They have Christopher don't they? Why don't you tell him so he can put on his shinning armor, get on his noble steed, reindeer, whatever he has and save the day?",

"Hans please! I know your angry and have every right to do so" begged Njord,

"Your right! I am not responsible for what they do! Whatever they do is their own fault! Not mine! Its their problem to fix not mine!" said Hans as he turned his back to Njord.

"Hans..." the black cat started before shaking his head "Your right, you don't need to do anything as this is not your mess to fix.. but ask yourself... Can you live with yourself knowing that you walked away when you were needed the most?".

This caused Hans to falter as he though, that was a good question. Yes Arendelle and its people, especially Elsa and Anna were not his problem, but... could he live with himself if he refused to help? But even if he did help? How does he know that he will not be betrayed or vilified after everything is said and done?

Reaching into his pocket he took out the bottle containing the draught that the mountain promised that could bring him back to life.

He looked between Njord and the draught as he though before nodding... he made his choice...

To be continued...

Authors note: The phrase "You can"t fix anything by singing a song was slightly inspired by the quote in zootopia. Any way, what will happen now? what will Hans choose? Will he choose to go with Njord and maybe save the day or backed away? We shall see in the next chapter...

Please review to let me know what you all think, but for now I bid you adue and will update the story as soon as possible. Take care.
