CHAPTER 17

Mr. Schue could not believe what he was doing right now. Moving an armed bomb with a guy he thought was somewhat shady. He was happy Blaine was with them, helping move the bombs. He reminded himself that he was doing this for his kids and everyone else in this entire city. He and Blaine had thoroughly swept the entire school and were relieved that there were only two bombs in the office. Wells had shouted instructions at them on how to move the bomb while he moved the other one. The slightest mistake could evaporate the entire block. No pressure. Finally, after painstaking caution, they managed to gently set the heavy bombs at the entrance to the school. Mr. Schue shared a knowing look with Blaine as Wells gave Barry the signal.

Barry nodded at Iris and Santana to be ready as he got the signal from Wells. They looked at him, determined to get this over with. He held Santana by the shoulder and Iris by the waist as she carefully got up off the chair. He heard a click as the timer started and he immediately sped them away in a blur of light. One minute. Time was already running out.

Kurt had his eyes closed. He was so prepared to die but the impact never came. He mustered the courage to open his eyes but all he saw was a blur of yellow light. He found himself safe on the ground with Santana and Iris beside him. Barry was beside them, but Sebastian was still wrestling with Tremor. Kurt looked at him in awe, the mere fact that Tremor had not killed him yet was astounding. Tremor fired blast after blast at Sebastian, but he managed to dodge each one. Barry ran at Tremor and hit her at super speed which caused her to fly back a few feet. She was bleeding and she screamed in anger at them.

"We have less than 50 seconds Barry! You have to contain the explosion!" Santana screamed at him.

"Tremor will kill you! I can't leave you here!" Barry countered. At that moment, Iris put her hand on his shoulder and looked him straight in the eye.

"We'll buy you time. We've got this. Go!" Iris told him, reassuring, but firm. Barry really didn't want to leave them but what choice did he have. He spared them one last look and sped away.

Kurt looked over at Sebastian, Santana and Iris. This was it. They braced themselves as Tremor advanced, preparing to decimate them with an energy blast, the detonator in her other hand.

Mr. Schue checked the timer, they were running out of time. Barry had to get here fast. He gave Blaine a reassuring squeeze on his shoulder. He could tell he was worried about Kurt. He didn't know what was happening with the rest of his kids but all he could do was hope they were okay. Suddenly, there was a blur of yellow light and before he could blink, it disappeared. The bombs were gone. This was it.

Kurt was on the ground, bleeding. By some miracle, none of them were killed and they had managed to knock the detonator out of Tremor's hand. Everyone else was incapacitated on the ground. However, their luck was running out and he was the only one with enough energy to stand. Tremor had managed to get a hold of the detonator. Kurt didn't know if it was adrenaline or sheer willpower, but he managed to barrel into Tremor and keep her from pressing it. She tried to blast him, but he managed to hold on to her as he kicked her in the leg. She screamed in agony and rage. Her body was exuding energy and he could not hold on any longer, he was about to be blasted off her once again and then they were all dead. However, at that moment, he managed to glimpse a blur of yellow light heading towards the direction of the warehouse and allowed himself a tiny smile before he was blasted back. He landed next to a winded Santana, clutching her chest beside him. Tremor stared at them in hatred as she walked over to the device and prepared to vibe herself and the device away from here, safe from the blast. She pressed hard on the detonator. Kurt closed his eyes. He could only hope and pray that Barry was prepared.
