Chapter 19- Mom? Is that you?

"Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves a memory no one can steal."

A/N-

Thanks, Bluedreams101 (on Quotev .com) for suggesting that I do some interaction between the siblings! I hope this is good for sibling interaction!

Rayna's POV-

I woke up to the sun shining on me through the window. I didn't want to leave my bed. I was afraid that I would never be able to see mom again. I also would never be able to see dad again either. I curled up into a ball and squeezed my eyes shut as my tears rolled down my cheeks. I never wanted to leave this bed again.

I heard someone walk in and sit on the side of the bed. They picked me up and sat me on their lap. I looked up and saw Simeon, which was surprising. He never did any of the comforting in our family, it was always mom, dad, Jaelyn or Joslyn. Jaelyn barely ever did any comforting because she was always the stricter type, although recently she's softened up.

"Jaelyn and Joslyn told me to get you downstairs so you can have breakfast." Simeon explained, to which I nodded. I got up from his lap and went into my closet to get dressed for the day. I changed into one of my outfits and went with Simeon downstairs to eat breakfast.

"What would you like for breakfast?" Esme asked.

"Umm... Can I have... just some cereal?" I asked.

"Sure. Are you sure that's all you want?" She asked.

"Yes, please Esme. I only want cereal." I respond.

"Ok, sweetie. What kind of cereal?" She asked.

"Umm... Cinnamon Toast Crunch?" I replied.

"Sure." She took out a bowl and poured some Cinnamon Toast Crunch in it before adding the milk. She handed me the bowl and gave me a spoon. I slowly ate the cereal and when I was done, I walked over to the living room couch and curled up in a ball and started crying in pain for the loss of our parents.

I heard someone come up by me and crouch down near my head.

"Ray... everything will be ok. Everything is going to be alright..." I heard Joslyn say.

I sat up and looked at Joslyn with tear filled eyes and asked, "How can you say it's going to be alright? Mom and dad are gone. Our family is getting smaller and smaller every day. We're going extinct, Jos. Extinct."

"We won't go extinct; I won't let that happen to us." Joslyn said.

"You don't know that. We don't know what is getting everyone sick. Any one of us could get sick, and we wouldn't be able to stop it from happening." I said.

"I know that. But we have to stay optimistic. If we don't, we might not be able to prevent things that could be prevented if we were as optimistic as we can be in this kind of situation." Joslyn said.

I looked at her confused, "That makes no sense. In what situation does that apply?"

"If we're too busy being sad about everything going on, we might miss how everyone is getting sick." Joslyn explained.

"I guess you're right... But I still miss them." I mumbled.

"I miss them too. We all do. But there isn't anything we can do about it." Joslyn said.

"I know..." I mumbled.

"How about we watch a movie? To help cheer everyone up?" Joslyn suggested.

"Sure." I said.

"I want to choose the movie!" Rhys yelled as he ran into the room.

"What movie?" Jaelyn asked as she came into the room.

"The Greatest Showman!" Rhys yelled.

"No need to yell, we're in the same room." Jaelyn groaned before adding, "I'm fine with that movie."

"I'm fine with it." Joslyn agreed. "Ray? Sim? What do you think?"

"I like that movie; I want to watch it." I said.

"Sure, let's watch it." Simeon said as he walked in the room and jumped on the couch.

We all settled on the couch and watched the movie.

I wake up in my bed with Jaelyn and Joslyn. I sit up in bed and look out the window and notice that it's dark. I can clearly see the full moon surrounded by millions of stars outside my window. One of the stars seems to be brighter than the rest, brighter than the north star. I walk over to the window quietly and look out to the stars.

"What are you doing, Ray?" I hear Jaelyn ask me tiredly.

I turn around to look at her and whisper, "Just looking out at the stars."

Jaelyn walks over to me and looks out the window too. "That one star up there is pretty bright, don't you think?"

"Yea, it is. Why?" I asked.

"Well, I'm not sure. What do you think?" She asked me.

"I don't know..." I responded.

"Use your imagination." She suggested.

"Umm... ok... I don't know, maybe it's just closer than the rest." I said and Jaelyn sighed.

"That's not using your imagination. That's science." She said.

"I've got an idea." Joslyn mumbled as she rolled out of bed.

"Sorry, did we wake you up?" Jaelyn asked.

"Well, yes... but it's alright. Can I tell you my idea of why that star is brighter than the rest?" Joslyn asked.

"Sure." Jaelyn said.

"well, I think it's mom. We are part dybukk. Dybukks can come back as ghosts but since we are only part dybukk, this might be the only way she can come. And it's a full moon, so our werewolf mixed with dybukk might make her only able to do this on nights with a full moon. She's visiting us." Joslyn suggested. "I could be wrong though..."

"That-that's actually a really good idea. I think you're right." Jaelyn said.

"Why do you sound so surprised!?" Joslyn asked.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to sound surprised. It's just a really good idea." Jaelyn apologized.

"It's alright. I'm glad I came up with a good idea." She smiles up at the star.

"Do you think she can hear us?" I asked.

"I'm sure she can." Joslyn replied.

"Mom? If you can hear me, I just wanted to say I love and miss you." I whispered. Joslyn hugged me and brought me back to bed. Jaelyn stayed at the window for a few more seconds before returning to the bed with us.

A/N- I hope you liked this chapter! Nothing too important happened, but Bluedreams101 (On Quotev .com) wanted some sibling interaction, so here it is! I don't have much to say right now, soooo thanks for reading my story! I hope you like it so far! Any guesses on Why Simeon can't know about how everyone is getting sick? Any predictions on where the story is going to go? I have part of the ending planned, I don't like it too much, but I also do. I don't want it to happen, but it has to for the book to be a little interesting... I can't spoil it, so... I'm just gonna go now! Bye!
