As NYC was closest to Gotham in terms of the places suffering the greatest amount of minority uprising I went there first. I summoned my armor too; I'd likely need it for the crises ahead.
There was already a flash point brewing/brimming to the point of spillover. It was a traditional black area and the PD had formed a soft perimeter to contain the escalating activity occurring there.
"Wonder woman!" the cops said with some relief at my unexpected arrival. "We heard about Superman..." Clark's shocking death had caused terror despair and many other negative energies to develop among them and everyone else; that's what brother wanted. "I know guys. We have to focus though. This is all the work of my brother Ares. We must all work together to resist that." That was a start. "What's the situation?" "A number of black gangs have joined together to form a larger organized paramilitary unit; there are many civilians among them too. They're armed and ready for war. We still don't know how they did all of this without our knowing." "Ares." That said it all. "How is this going to go wonder woman?" The aggressive energy coming from them was high; brother was channeling it into them well. "They're going to fight to the death." They were shocked. "They're not themselves anymore. We have to deal with it that way now." "But after Chicago..." "I'll be here with you all the way." That helped a little. "Will the other superheroes be helping us?" "No." This increased their uncertainty, and their fear of actually fighting a mob that was magically enhanced.
I pulled out my sword and stood before the cops. "I always lead from the front. Follow me and we will do what needs doing." They took strength from this. They stepped forward, all heavily armed for what needed to happen next. The fake news would spin this however they meant to; but they too were agents of War; his propagandists.
We could hear the mob getting rowdier as they meant to actually fight it out with us. I didn't care if the world pinned it on me and me alone. That I could handle. I just didn't want it to be the deaths of anyone innocent/I cared about. As for these mob victims they were innocent but were enthralled to my brother. His hold over them was very strong. Only death for now would be their liberation from enslavement.
"They're massing to attack!" a cop said. "Get ready everyone!" the commander said. "Wonder woman..." They didn't have to say anything else. As before with Chicago I stood before this city's LEOs and led them now but not as cops, but as soldiers.
The mob closed in on the main street of offensive approach; they opened fire. "Engage!" I said and ran ahead to engage the armed mob. Some of the cops ran after me but most stayed back in a defensive posture. Cop snipers opened fire on the ones with more dangerous weapons and thinned them out. When I reached the main thrust of the mob I smashed my bracelets together and sent a concentrated shock wave right into them. It cut through them like a knife through butter. This stunned the mob and for the moment loosened brother's hold over them. The cops took advantage and kept firing, taking out the armed ones first/only if possible. As with Chicago a number of the mob had come to their senses and fled thus ending the crisis. I hoped to duplicate the same here somehow.
It wasn't to be; brother wouldn't allow that this time. He was going to push them into total slaughter for his amusement/plans. I was ready for that and readily connected my blade with "civilian" flesh.
