Chuck vs. The Proposal

Well, in the previous chapter Chuck, Sarah, Travis and Alex make it to The Hanger. A situation involving The Bird Of Prey has the reformed team to weigh their options one of them being the topic of parachutes brought up by Sarah. Meanwhile, Casey is flying Dalton's cargo plane and he's not alone as he has the owner of the plane riding shotgun right there with him. Plus, Packard along with T.I., Mackintosh, and a unconscious Morgan are in for a long ride to their intended location. So what's in store for this chapter and how is the movie Judge Dredd involved? Also, which two characters are compared to Hulk and Juggernaut? Read and find out! Anyways, hope you enjoy the read and leave a comment to share your own thoughts on this particular chapters. As always, reviews are awesome.

Packard lays comfortable back while T.I. and Mackintosh get some much needed rest for the long flight ahead to their well-deserved retirement. They are out light a light and although he's unable to actually hear his two cohorts, they are snoring up a storm more so for T.I. than Mackintosh. In any case, his focus on the two of them would inevitably drift down towards the still unconscious body of he is viewed as a bargaining chip. True, he may look dead but he's far from it as he keenly notices he is functioning at some level due to his regular breathing pattern.

In his mind, as long as he's alive in some capacity he's of good use no matter what kind of internal damage he may have suffered after being tased by Mackintosh. Afterwards, his focus shifts from the bearded man lying flat on the floor of the Sikorsky CH-53K Stallion to the scenic skies outside the window. As he's stares out into vastness of an endless array of clouds and terrain below, his thoughts go back to the aftermath of being taken into custody then sitting in a military transport plane under heavy guard.

The man responsible right there on the other side expressing absolute disdain towards them. Of course, the feeling was mutual and as much as they wanted to get their hands on him for his betrayal. Hands and feet shackled tightly in chains more so for T.I. than he and Mackintosh due to his beastly strength and not to mention his overall demeanor as well. He vividly recalls the conversation that is still engrained in his mind to this day.

"You could have just looked the other way Casey. It would have made it a lot simpler and easy on all of us.

The sound of a low but clearly audible grunt is heard from across the way. For Packard, it's a sound he's heard so many times before since being part of the team. To him, the sound was considered a representation of Casey's inner cavemen asserting his alpha status to show that he's the leader. Now, it clearly represents a mindless attack dog that's trained or in this cased brainwashed into obeying orders instead of questioning them. In any case, the hulking mass of humanity leans forwards expressing an intimidatingly icy stare in their direction. It's not long before a response is given.

"You…" he grunted. "…you 3 made your choice. The wrong choice."

In that instance, Packard flashes his trademark charming smile and then expresses a grin towards their now former team leader. "The wrong choice? As I see it, you made the wrong choice in siding against us when the opportunity presented itself." he firmly stated.

"You got that right Pac." Mackintosh chimed in. "All that gold in that vault and you didn't even think about taking some for yourself?"

"Not once. I was there on orders to do a job. Not to line my pockets with dirty money."

"Who's to say if it's actually dirty money? Huh?" Packard retorted. "I say the victor goes the spoils and it was ours for the taking." he added leading back. Afterwards, he crosses his legs to show Casey that it doesn't bother him or nothing wrong for that matter in taking the gold that doesn't belong to whoever owns it.

"Look at you…" growled T.I."…the obedient boy scout. I'm sure you've bent the rules in the past." he added lunging forward. This causes the guards to instantly aim their weapons directly at the beastly man. "If I wasn't chained up I would rip your head off and shove it up your ass." he seethed with intense anger.

"I would love to see you try." smirked Casey. Eyebrows furrowed. Nostrils flaring. A look of absolute intensity emanating from within.

In that moment while sitting there, Packard could most definitely feel the electrified intensity of the atmosphere within the confines of the military transport plane. A standoff of epic proportions where two alpha bulls fully prepared to butt heads but wouldn't be able to due to one of them being held back by shackles. In his mind, it would be a sight to see seemingly monstrous dogs clashing against one other for supremacy.

His thoughts concerning the potential of an all-out no holds brawl between former teammates is subsequently broken by the sound Mackintosh's voice.

"It's like Hulk vs. Juggernaut going at it don't you think?" he whispered expressing an eerie grin. "Unfortunately, Jugs doesn't have the momentum in his favor right now with the unfair advantage."

"Who?"

"Characters from Marvel. Video games? Comic books?"

"Sorry Mac…" responded Packard. "…what I marvel at are the ladies. Curves, sensual nature, the allure, smell, touch, and everything in between." he added flashing a grin.

"Woman…tech…" he retorted shrugging his shoulders. "…same thing."

Packard instantly quirks his right brow and is about to give his retort when he along with Mackintosh's attention are returned once again back to the face-off between their former teammates. Although, his tech savvy teammate sees the two monstrous behemoths as some fictional comic book and video games characters, he sees something totally different.

From his own perspective, he sees both men as a chained up pitbull and Rottweiler going head to head to head. Granted, the pitbull is at a clear disadvantage because he's being held back by his restraints seething at the mouth while the Rottweiler is arrogantly standing there with an annoying smirk. It's at this point, he along with Mackintosh suddenly hear the tail end of the intense back and forth discussion they're having concerning the law.

"You're not the law! You're just some grunt like me sent to complete a mission."

"I AM THE LAW!" barked out Casey gritting his teeth. A deafening silence suddenly blankets the confines of the military transport plane despite the rumbling noise of the military transport plane engines.

"As I see it, you broke the law. Law dictates you go away to prison." Casey firmly stated breaking the silence in a calm manner.

Mackintosh immediately chimes in. "I am the law!" Packard can't help but express a smirk for his sarcastic mockery of what Casey barked out so much so that certainly gets an amused chuckled from T.I. sitting to his right. "Okay Judge Dredd. You keep thinking that. You're just an expendable soldier like the rest of us! The only difference is you think you're better than us." he added pointing directly at Casey while cuffed.

It's at that point, Packard turns his attention from Mackintosh to his former team leader. "Is he right Casey? You think you're better than us?"

The weapons expert of the now defunct team that Casey formed himself sits there waiting for an answer. While sitting there, he doesn't break eye contact with the man standing over them despite just standing 2 feet away from there. Though he isn't saying anything right now, the expression on his face speaks volumes he thinks to himself.

It's an expression he's familiar with as it's thoroughly etched in the back of his mind when he appeared at an outdoor firing range where he was in the middle of flirting with a rather beautiful woman. In his mind, things were going exceedingly well until he showed up and decided to spoil what could have been an exceptionally great day for him in more ways than one. Of course, his mere presence scared the beauty off as he would find himself discussing business rather than pleasure, which was considerably disappointing at the time.

What made the situation even more disappointing and not to mention irritatingly embarrassing was the fact that he showed up in order to prove a point. A point that impacted his ego more than anything when his perfect distance shot was one upped by placing his shot directly behind the one that hit the target. Unfortunately, he didn't take into account that Casey was a trained sniper and because of his pinpoint accuracy he would be roped into a mission that would forever alter the course of his life.

Yet, despite his altered life path he still considers himself to be on the same level and has the capability to stand toe to toe with him. Although he doesn't have the strength of T.I. or the technical know-how as Mackintosh he feels there are similarities between himself and the grizzled military veteran. A methodical tactician with the keen observations skills and not to mention a pension for being cold, as well as calculated when it calls for it. In other words, matching every aspect to what Casey offers but on another when need arises.

Speaking of T.I., his encounter with Casey was similar albeit different when it comes to circumstances of how he ended up on the team. True, his rather massive teammate has the strength to pummel anyone that is up against him being that he is known for being the best at hand to hand combat. However, strength can get you so far and from what he gather after speaking with T.I. he was able to get the upper hand on him by simply playing it smart.

Plain and simple he was knocked out by having his airflow cut off added to that him struggling to free himself would only gradually sap his strength. As big as he is, the amount of physical exertion the used in trying to escape from Casey's clutches was his ultimate downfall because he mentally gained the advantage and simply used his physicality against him. Truth be told, it's how a crafty, grizzled veteran like has been able to achieve any kind of longevity.

From what he remembers of the conversation between he and T.I., was that he wasn't a happy camper when regained consciousness. As much as he wanted to destroy the gym and anyone who was in it, he restrained himself from doing so because he didn't want to end up in another disciplinary hearing based on his actions. Without a doubt, a rematch was promised to him and rightfully deserving but it never occurred. It's probably why there is an underlying tension, as well as resentment between the two of them. More so on his tattooed comrade in arms than himself to be exact.

Tension and resentment that he clearly noticed when all 4 of them met up. It could very well be cut with knife as it was thick in the air once T.I. appeared and an intense but brief stared down occurred, which he keenly observed on that particular day. Essentially, it's quite possibly one of the main reasons why there is so much friction between the two of them because of quite possibly of not being able to regain a sense of power that was taken from him on their initial meeting back then.

Anyways, that's his own summation of why he and T.I. have an underlying issue with the man that recruited them on a mission they forced into. As for Mackintosh, his issues are all his own and they don't necessarily relate to any of theirs because from talking with him he joined mainly for the "fun" of it all he thinks to himself. At the time, he didn't have any idea what that meant but after spending some time with the guy certainly in a unique and not to mention frightening head space all his own. Fortunately, he's on their side instead of Casey's and it most definitely makes for strange bedfellows he thinks to himself.

A head space that he is thankful not a part of. His thoughts concerning Casey's flexing a superiority complex over them is subsequently answered after wait seemed to be a long for any kind of response from a guy who doesn't say much.

"At following orders? You're damn right." he firmly growled. "You have only yourselves to blame…" he added suddenly backing up. "…not me." Afterwards, he lowers himself down into a seated position then crosses his arms. An icy stare shooting towards all three men but mainly at Packard himself.

"Keep telling yourself that." Packard responded flashing his trademark charming smile. "You think you've judged us and declared yourself our executioner but you're wrong. Your day of judgement will come your way Case. Bank on it."

"I'll be waiting." grunted the former team leader.

The unwavering focus Pack has on Casey sitting seemingly in a calm manner across from them is suddenly broken by a voice coming over the speaker. "ETA to touch down 5 minutes."

It would be long after landing they found themselves being escorted away at gunpoint from the military transport plane to the back of an awaiting armored vehicle. Packard was the last to go inside but note before look back to see Casey standing there at the open driver side door of his 1985 Crown Victoria. As he's about is about to join his other 2 cohorts, he sees him momentarily watch then slips inside inevitably driving off never to be seen again…or so he thought.

The outside scenery within the Sikorsky CH-53K Stallion remains the same as Packard continues to comfortably sit back as best he can for the long trip ahead. He takes brief look at the still unconscious body of the man considered to be a bargaining chip and then turns his attention to his two business partners.

Afterwards, he once again returns his attention outside to the point where he starts reflecting back on the military tribunal in which he, T.I. and Mackintosh were subsequently sentenced for their crimes, as well betrayal against the government they were working for.

"Does the prosecution have anything further?"

"Yes your honor. We would like to call to the stand Major John Casey."

Packard could only express a faint smirk as his attention is directed towards the double doors. The wait wouldn't last long as Casey walked through the doors dressed in uniform and makes his way to the stand. His unformed hat tucked under his left arm. Of course, his reaction to seeing their former team leader was far different than the two men sitting on either side of him. His was completely subdued and in control of his emotions.

From what he remembers, he didn't acknowledge their presence as he entered the court, took a seat on the stand and proceeded to provide them the details of their insubordination involving the mission they were supposed to be accomplishing under strict orders. While sitting there several feet away, he didn't really listen to anything Casey had to spew out because to him the jury had it in their mind to convict them and throw them away in a deep dark facility to rot.

Instead of speaking up, he simply stared at the man responsible for turning his back on what could have been a lucrative partnership he thinks to himself. A lucrative partnership where they would formulate a plan to ship the gold to a designated location they mutual chose together then when everything died down a bit they would meet up in order to divide their share of the profits. It's as simple as that but that wouldn't come to fruition as Casey worked against instead of with them.

In any case, when it came to Mackintosh's reaction he simply yelled out in a mocking way "I am the law" towards Casey in similar fashion as he did in the military transport plane. Of course, it caused an abrupt disruption leading to the judge to literally place a gag order on the tech expertise because he wouldn't stop mocking him. True, it did give him some considerable levity to the situation knowing how boringly tedious the proceedings knowing the overall outcome would be.

However, what really made it truly worthwhile was witnessing T.I. flip the table over in order to attack Casey once again. He shot up afterwards and lunged at him like a crazed bull let loose in a China shop. The big man wasn't able to break anything or go too far much to his efforts in knocking back, as well as, down armed guards that were practically piling on the hulking mass of humanity.

It took a while buy they were able to subdue the massive monster by a slew of heavily armed guard that were standing nearby in order to keep a watchful eye on all 3 of them, especially T. was considerably disappointing though was that T.I.'s attempt for payback didn't faze their former team leader one bit.

He did flinch at all or back up one inch at all as he just stood there with an arrogant smirk on his face as if to seemingly say that he's not showing any sign of weakness whatsoever. Unfortunately, his efforts to throw him off his balance failed and to scare him to where the fear of God set in didn't quite work.

For him, Casey truly lives up to his reputation as an unrelenting, unforgiving cold school killer in every sense of the word. All the stories he's heard about him were at the time that he believed were all just made up but after dealing with him they are in fact 100% truth. His attention and fate would be left at the ends of a military jury after Casey's testimony. The jury itself didn't take long at all to come up with a verdict, which didn't surprise him one bit.

His attention wasn't on the soldiers making up the military tribunal because in his opinion they weren't actually the deciding factor in the fate handed down on them. The main focus was solely on one Major John Casey in full view and not hiding behind anyone. Out in plain sight.

In his mind, it's as if he wanted to be seen in order to show no fear and the power over them is still his to keep. All through his testimony up until Casey finished he never broke eye contact with the man as the military tribunal deliberated the sentence that would be handed down.

GUILTY. A verdict that was handed down on him, T.I. and Mackintosh as they looked over at the military judge. As all three of them were dragged out of court with half the heavily armed guards as it seemed making sure T.I. was completely under control, he only had one thing to say to Casey. More like a promise than anything else coming from him knowing they would be taken to an underground facility and be individually separated for precautionary measures.

"You'll see us again…" he clearly said flashing trademark charming smile towards him. "…at your funeral."

It's the only thing he actually said throughout the entire court proceedings. Essentially, he wanted to make an impactful statement and what better way than a haunting threat that leaves any person even the likes of now Colonel John Casey to become greatly unsettled to the point of always looking over your shoulder. For him, the man who judged them will soon be judged by a tribunal of their court and it will most definitely be sweet justice they celebrate their retirement after his much anticipated funeral he thinks to himself.

"The plane. She's my investment?" responded Dalton. "The weapons are just a means to an end to live the lifestyle that I've dreamed of. Not that important." he explained further.

"If that's the case, why haven't you fixed your investment up with the money you made." questioned Casey briefly glancing at the off/on again arms dealer.

"Why fix up perfection? Bullet holes and all. She's got character. Miles and miles of character." My baby and I have been through so much together." he stated reaching forward touching the dash in front of him. "Yes we have. Right girl?"

"It's a plane not a dog."

"She's more than a plane to me." insisted Dalton. A smile expressed as he gazes around the cockpit area.

Casey instantly quirks his right brow. Afterwards he speaks up. "Do you two want to be alone? Give you some privacy? Just say the word and I'll step out." he said pointing behind him through the open cockpit door.

It's at that point Dalton turns his head and momentarily stares at Casey. "Funny. Besides, I didn't want to load those weapon crates into the plane in the first place."

"I asked nicely."

"You threatened me…" he responded with disbelief. "…after threatening to blow up my boat!" he added throwing both hands up in the air.

"It was an incentive." nodded Casey.

"How is that in incentive? You forced me do it by pouring gasoline all over it." he retorted shaking his head.

A faint smirk is expressed in the corner of the proud marine's mouth. "Hey, you got the money to refurnish it."

"That's beside the point. You even lit up a couple of flare sticks intentionally tossing 2 over my boat and into the water. The last one you had in your hand you had a look in your eyes as if you were going to do it."

"No I wasn't."

"Yes…" he emphatically stated. "…you were."

"The sun was in my eyes."

"The sun was setting…"replied Dalton. "…in the opposite direction." he added. The sound of frustration expressed in his voice.

For Casey, he hasn't had this much fun in messing with someone since the early days of Bartowski, especially when it involved Walker. Of course, back then it was easy entertainment to watch the former asset turned super spy with government secrets in his head squirm in regards to saying anything to rattle the kid's cage. The trigger that most definitely set him off was mentioning Bryce Larkin and his head would explode because of how much history he had with Sarah.

Now, it's no longer fun as Chuck and Sarah are so used to it that it doesn't faze them one bit. The verbal threats, the icy stares of death, and not to mention the relationship with Larkin have become ineffective. In his mind, it should be outlawed to be on good terms with an ex who is now become family. As much as he's attempted to roast the two of them in his own way, it doesn't have any effect whatsoever like it used to he thinks to himself.

In his mind, if he were ever in charge of making then signing laws he would most definitely create Bartowski's Law. A law which states that any time a family function happens he is allowed to roast former partners/college roommates and their now brother-in-law ex who is married to an older sibling. He'd have an absolute field day but it wouldn't happen because of Jayne who'd veto it immediately.

His thought process is subsequently broken up by the image of Dalton's hand waving in front of his face leading to the sound of his voice in his head set.

"Are you even listening to me?"

"I've been trying not to." grunted Casey.

There is brief moment of silence before Dalton continues on. "Where are we going anyway?"

"Iran."

"You do you realize if we enter Iran airspace without proper clearance shit will literally hit the fan." warned Dalton.

"It won't come to that."

"Aren't you a dark ray of optimism? So why say that? Is there something I don't know?"

"It's on a need to know basis."

"It's my plane…" insisted Dalton. "…so I need to know!" he added sound off like crazed mad man.

"Say please."

"Seriously?" scoffed Dalton in annoyance.

"Say it."

Casey watches as Travis' associate refrains from saying out loud expletives, which is just considerably entertaining to him. Once Dalton composes himself he takes a moment to take in several deep breathing exercises then prepares himself to say the word.

"Please."

"See…" smirked Casey. "…that wasn't so hard now was it?"

Dalton is about to explode again but restrains himself from doing so. Instead, he expressed a tight lipped smile then speaks up. "Just get on with it before I suffer a brain aneurysm."

As much as Casey would enjoy continue mentally torturing him to the point of killing him, he makes the decision to focus on the matter at hand. "Let's say I have unfinished business I have to deal with. You're plane is my ticket in."

Dalton is momentarily silent once again. After staring at Casey for a few seconds, he notices his whole demeanor complete change into absolute seriousness. "This unfinished business you're dealing with…" he inquired briefly looking behind him. "…is that why you need the crates?"

"Yeah."

"Okay. Anything else?"

In that instant, Casey turns to face Dalton. His eyes locked on to his as he raises a seemingly important question he needs answered. "Are there any parachutes on board?"
