Chapter 15 : Karupin!?
Tut... Tut... Tut...
Chiharu turns off her alarm. She gets up, rubbing her sleepy eyes before checking the time.
"It's ..." Chiharu muttered. "There is no morning practice today, I don't have to hurry up for preparing myself."
Chiharu walks to her restroom to do her morning routine. After that, she puts her uniform and turns to face her desk which fulls of white papers.
"Damn Asami-san, makes me finish this all night," Chiharu says and tidy up the paper, putting inside the map file.
She walks to her window and opens the curtain. The sunshine light her room. She opens the windows and inhales the air.
"What good weather," Chiharu says and stretching her body.
After admiring the great weather, Chiharu closes her window and decide to prepare her breakfast and watch the tv. She just realizes that she rarely spends her time to watch tv.
"I have been busy since the school starts that I often forget to spend time for myself," Chiharu says and eat her toast. "Oh, yeah. The prefectural tournament starts tomorrow! Hmm..." she glares to her calendar. "Not only that, I have to do some meetings and paperwork. Sigh... It's killing me..."
Just after she complaining her phone is beeping showing a new message. It's a message from Asami, asking about her paperwork. She sighing and replies that she has already done it.
After finishes her breakfast, Chiharu washes the plate and look at the clock showing that it's already 7.30 am. She turns off her tv and grabs her bag. After putting on her shoes she looks at a picture that she places not far from the shoe rack.
"Ittekimasu, otou-san, kaa-san," Chiharu says with a smile and walk out from her apartment.
Chiharu put her earphones and listening to music like always. She walks to the T-junction where she part away with Ryoma or Momoshiro. However, because of there is no morning practice today, they usually not meet each other in this T-junction. Not only that, but today is also a rare day for her because she doesn't have to wake up more early than usual. In fact, she doesn't care if she is late or not because she still tired of doing paperwork last night.
Suddenly, Chiharu notices a fluffy thing above the wall. Notice her staring, the fluffy thing turns around and meow at her.
"Oh, it's cat," she says and holds out her hand so that the cat jumps to her. "I thought it's a raccoon. Hmm... Did I have met you somewhere?" Chiharu asks as she stroke the cat.
The cat only answers with meow while cuddling to Chiharu's neck. Chiharu lets out a giggle because it tickles. She then put down the cat and pet the head.
"A Himalayan cat... Oh, right! You're Karupin!" Chiharu says when she realizes that in front of her is Ryoma cat. "What are you doing here?" Chiharu asks but Karupin only answers with meow and nuzzle to her hand.
Chiharu lets out a sigh then looks at the time on her phone which makes her already late.
"I think I have to go now. Sorry, I can't play with you Karupin. See you next time," Chiharu says and pet Karupin for the last time.
She waves to the cat before deciding to walks away. She puts her earphones back on and not looking back.
"Ohayo~," Chiharu says as she opens the door of her classroom.
"Ohayo, Chiharu-chan!" Mio greets back with a smile.
"Yo, it's rare for you to arrive at this time. Echizen-kun has already arrived you know," Haruka says.
"Well, last night I have to finish some paperwork and because there is no morning practice, I don't feel like to go earlier today," Chiharu answers with a sheepish smile.
"As expected, Shigeko's president. Busy like always," Haruka says and nudges Chiharu's arm.
Chiharu just laughs and walks to her seat, followed by her friends. Ryoma already sat and Horio stands next to him.
"Ohayo," Chiharu greets them as she put down her bag.
"Yo, Shigeko!" Horio greets back and Ryoma just nods his head while staring at the cat toy on his hand.
"What are you doing, Ryoma?" Chiharu asks the point of the toy.
"Oh this, Karupin..." Ryoma answers.
"Anyway, are you ready for the English test this morning?" Haruka asks.
"Eh? We have a test?" Chiharu asks back and tilts her head.
"Mou, Haruka don't remind me!" Mio says and shaking her head.
"Ahahaha, you don't have the confidence in English, don't you!" Horio teases her.
"Don't talk like you're good in it," Haruka scold Horio and hit the back of his head.
"What!? You're the same as me too!" Horio talks back to Haruka holding his head.
"Oho~ Are you talk to me like that?" Haruka says with an irk mark on her head.
"Go, Haruka, scold him!" Mio cheers her childhood friend.
Chiharu just let out a sigh with the fuss in front of her. Actually, she forgot about the test but she has good confidence in English, so she doesn't panic. She turns her head to Ryoma who still staring at the cat toy.
"E-to... You unusually early," Chiharu says Ryoma to gain his attention.
"Un..." Ryoma answers short still staring his toy.
"Have you studied?"
"Hm..."
Chiharu gets more confused with how Ryoma acts. She stares the cat toy too and sums up that he thinking about his cat.
"You know, the other day I visited your house, right?"
"Yeah..."
"There is a Himalayan cat in your house. It's that Karupin?"
Hearing the name of his cat, Ryoma finally looks at Chiharu faces. On the other way, Chiharu can see the little anxious expression on Ryoma faces.
"Um... Is something wrong?" Chiharu asks and rubs the cheek with her index finger.
"Oh... No, it's nothing," Ryoma says and look down to the toy again.
"What's with him? Look anxious like that. It's not like Karupin is missing or anything, I even met his cat this morning," Chiharu though.
"Ne, Ryoma. Actually this morning-"
Teng... Tong... Teng... Tong...
Before Chiharu can finish talking, the school bell rings. The students decide to go back to their seats. Chiharu looks Ryoma for once before facing the teacher who walks into the class. She decides to tell about Karupin later.
As Horio said, they have an English test this morning. Chiharu able to do it in ease because she is good in English. Being Shigeko's group president makes her have to be fluent in speaking a foreign language which she grateful for. When she decides to doodle on the question sheet, suddenly Ryoma who sits behind her stand up makes a loud noise from his chair.
"What's wrong, Echizen?" the English teacher asks.
"Eh? Ah..." Ryoma confuses looking at the teacher then back to the window.
Chiharu looks behind to find Ryoma looks so dumbfound. The teacher walks to his desk and grabs his answer sheet.
"What? You've finished already? Here, finish the last question!" the teacher says makes all the students surprised.
"Eh? Last question!?" Horio exclaim in surprise also.
"Kora, Shigeko! How many times I told you not to doodle the question paper!" the English teacher says when he notices Chiharu's doodle.
"Um... I already finish, so..." Chiharu says with a smile.
"Ehhhh!?" the class shout in surprise again hearing that.
"Times up! Pass the paper to the front!" the teacher says.
After he collected the answer sheet, the students get their small break time. Haruka, Mio, and Horio walk to Chiharu and Ryoma sheet.
"It's so hard!" Mio complains.
"Ne, Chiharu-chan, what is the answer of number 13?" Haruka asks.
"Oh, it's A," Chiharu answers which make Horio mess his hair.
"Really!? I answer it with C!" he says.
"Shigeko!" the English teacher call Chiharu.
"Yes?" Chiharu stands up and walks to him.
"Can you bring this to the offices? I have to do something," the teacher asks and points to the paper.
"Hai," Chiharu answers which the teacher nod with a smile before walks out from the classroom.
"Do you need help?" Haruka asks.
"No, it's okay. You guys can go to the science lab first, I will catch up later," Chiharu answer before walks out too.
On the way to the faculty offices, Chiharu notices Sakuno talking with Tomoka outside her classroom.
"Ah, Chiharu-chan!" Sakuno greets her.
"Hello, what are you doing?" Chiharu stop her walk.
"You know, we going to cheers Ryoma-sama tomorrow!" Tomoka says with a loud voice.
"To-tomo-chan, you to loud!" Sakuno says to her friend with a red face.
"Come on, Sakuno! If you keep shy like that, you will never able to talk to Ryoma-sama right!?" Tomoka answers back with loud noise. "Kyaa! I can't wait to cheer him tomorrow!"
On the other hand, Chiharu just let out a sweatdrop with how Tomoka acts. She decides to leave them.
"Well, I need to go. Good luck with that," Chiharu says with a smile before walk.
"Oh, okay. See you later," Sakuno says.
"Kyaa! Chiharu-chan is really pretty right!? I'm so envious!" Tomoka says to her friend after Chiharu walks away from them.
"Mo-mou! Tomo-chan! Don't be so loud!"
Chiharu just let out a sigh with how Tomoka acts. She doesn't really hate her but when she too noisy it's made her irritating. Which is also reminds her about how noisy Horio is.
Finally, Chiharu arrives at the faculty offices. She knocks the door before opening it.
"Excuse me," Chiharu says when she opens the door.
"Ara, Chiharu. Is there something you need?" Ryuzaki asks when she notices the tennis manager.
"I need to bring this test paper to Takezawa-sensei desk," Chiharu answers.
"It's that so? His desk is the one in the corner," Ryuzaki answers and points the desk.
"Thank you, Ryuzaki-sensei," Chiharu says before walks to the desk.
Just as she places the papers on the table, Chiharu looks up to find his captain standing next to her.
"Tezuka-senpai," Chiharu greets him.
"Shigeko," Tezuka greets back.
"Thank you Tezuka-kun, you can go back now," the teacher in front of Tezuka says.
"Hai, excuse me," Tezuka says with bow and go out from the room with Chiharu follow from behind.
"Is there something you need?" Tezuka asks notices that Chiharu standing behind him.
"I though I have asks Oishi-senpai to told you to meet me today," Chiharu says and crosses her arm.
"Oh, that... Then what do you want to say to me?" Tezuka asks narrowing his eyes.
"Actually, can you meet me when lunch? At the club room," Chiharu says.
Tezuka just answers with a nod before walks away. Knowing that it's something important to talk from the manager.
Chiharu then decides to walk back to class to grab her book for science class.
It's finally lunch and Chiharu already waiting for Tezuka in the club room. After several minutes, finally, the person she waiting is opening the door.
"Sorry, do you wait too long?" Tezuka asks.
"No, it's okay," Chiharu says and stands up from her seat.
"So, what do you want to talk about?" Tezuka asks after he closes the door and stands in front of Chiharu.
"First, please take a seat," Chiharu says with a smile and gesture to the bench where she sat earlier.
"For?" Tezuka asks and frowning.
"Come on, Tezuka-senpai. You don't have to look me like that. You will get older," Chiharu says and let out a sigh.
Taken back with that, Tezuka clears his throat before sit like Chiharu instructs her.
"Then, what do you want to talk about?" Tezuka asks again with serious faces.
"Ma, ma... Don't be rush," Chiharu says with a closed eye smile which makes Tezuka feels a little anxious.
"Next, please take off your uniform."
"Huh?"
It's finally after school. Chiharu has a cleaning duty to do so Ryoma and the others went to the club first. After she finishes, she walks to the tennis club where she found Momoshiro holding Ryoma shoulder.
"What happens?" Chiharu asks as she points out the hand.
"Ah, Chiharu-chan!" Momoshiro says in surprise. "Well, you see...Echizen, he..." Momoshiro tries to explain but doesn't know where to starts.
"Karupin is missing," Ryoma says with worried faces.
"Eh? Karupin is missing!?"
