Ignition Saga - The Morning After
Summary
Following the events of Anna's Awakening, the assasin has spent the night in the dungeon. Specifically, hooked up to the mental scanning systems in the Catacombs. Arianna knows everything he knows, which unfortunately isn't much. However, given the presence of the nanites, she knows his employer is not of the time period.
The assasin doesn't know their name, where they operate or who is involved. He was given a weapon, a target, and a nanite injection to change his appearance. He does know one thing, however; the group's goal is to eliminate Magic entirely.
Arianna does recognize his contact, though. The Duke of Weselton. She is enraged, and vows to destroy that weasel.
Following the assassin's mind scan, he is put into a stasis pod for future use. Arianna heads to the forge. She has to make something to protect the Royal Family even when she cannot. Ignis helps her design a pendant capable of this, and rhe forge makes 11 of them. Three for the sisters, one for Adrian, Kristoff, Kai and Gerda each. Neither Arianna or Ignis know why 4 extra were created, and the Catacombs AI doesn't feel like telling.
These pendants are a technological marvel, packing the power of Ignis herself into a oval stone-like piece of metal barely an inch wide. A personal shield system, healing triage unit and translation matrix are all installed. Additionally, it can function as a weapon using two methods. The first is the simpler one, it simply fires energy blasts. The second is much more complicated; the pendant is capable of manufacturing miniature defense drones on the fly that will protect the wearer. Each pendant is designed to be a personal guard for the wearer, and thus has a simpler version of Ignis' mind inside.
There is one more ability, and that is as a communication device; the wearer must only think of speaking to a person and the pendant will establish a connection telepathically. The range on this is small, barely a hundred feet, unless the recipient also has a pendant. Then their range is infinite, thanks to quantum entanglement.
Having created these, and realizing the time has disappeared, Arianna takes the pendants and finds her sisters. Predictably, they are in Adrian's lab along with Kristoff trying to find out what Anna can do and if she is okay.
Since they're all in the same room, she decides to show them the pendants. Putting one on herself, and letting another volunteer (Adrian), Arianna demonstrates the abilities, including the shield. She does this by firing a plasma beam at it, to no effect. This leads to the rest of them feeling safe enough to accept the pendants. Once all of them are wearing the devices, Arianna activates 'Group Chat', which links all the pendants together so they can all communicate.
A hilarious learning experience follows, which is ended when Kai comes in to notify the Royals that the Council is demanding a meeting. Reluctantly, everyone exits Group Chat, adjourning to the Council chamber.
