Christmas cards!

Aramis had tried and failed – miserably – to persuade Athos to send personalised Christmas cards. What upset him more was the fact that he had bet Porthos he could. He should never bet with Porthos. Instead, Athos insisted they send your average store-bought cards, or none at all. Aramis conceded, knowing full well Athos would follow through with his threat if he didn't drop the subject quickly.
d'Artagnan wondered whether he should ask Constance if it would be appropriate for them to send personalised Christmas cards together. He cautiously approached it and was happy when Constance didn't treat it like such a stupid idea. Constance was open to it, since they had already been living together – although as lodger and tenant – before they officially got together. In reality their relationship was longer than when it officially began, so what was the harm? It was only a simple picture anyway. Aramis was not happy when he received it. Athos didn't care.
Porthos sent the same card every year, because he had once accidentally bought a lot more than he had intended and needed to get rid of them all. d'Artagnan was confused and asked how you could possibly 'accidentally' buy too many cards. Porthos ranted. Aramis and Athos hated d'Artagnan for asking.
