Episode 18: Losers in Luxury
Remaining Competitors: Samus, Cloud, Marth, Link, Captain Falcon
We start with Sakurai giving the recap.
"Last time on Super Smash Island," Sakurai said, "I figured I'd make the challenge a good old fashioned game of break the targets. The twist? Our smashers were handcuffed with each other to build teamwork during the challenge. Well….the teamwork part didn't last very long, and it erupted into a big fight between everyone. In the end, Isabelle left when the vote that got her eliminated was herself, not wanting to upset her friends anymore. For today, I gave our final five the day off to blow off some steam after the last challenge. Instead, today we're going to be taking a look at how the people who already lost the game are doing. Oh, but don't worry, by the end of this episode, five will turn to four. Who will it be? Find out on today's exciting episode of Super...Smash...Island!"
Cue intro
We start outside a huge island resort.
"Welcome back." Sakurai said, "Now, if you take a look at this resort, these are where the losers stay after they're eliminated. Here, they can relax and have fun until the end of the competition. Here, they also get to watch the competition. We will be seeing how they are doing and get their opinions on the game so far. And...at the end of this episode, I have a surprise for all of them. Now, let's see how they're doing."
He then heads into the resort and sees everyone who has been eliminated from the game. just relaxing, or participating in some fun activity. They all notice Sakurai and stop what they're doing.
"Well, aren't you all a sight for sore eyes? How is everybody?" Sakurai asked.
"What do you want?" Fox said.
"Relax. I'm just seeing how you all are doing. I also wanted to get everyone's input on the game. Today, it's all about you guys."
"After all you've put us through?" Fox said.
"Yes. But hey, aren't you enjoying yourself?" Sakurai said.
"Yeah, I guess." He said.
"So tell me, Fox, what is your opinion on the game so far?"
"Well, besides the fact that I was unfairly eliminated, I don't have much complaints."
"Okay." Sakurai said, "How do you feel about the remaining competitors, and who do you want to win?"
"Hmm. I'm fine with all of them except for Marth. I can't believe he's made it this far, given what he's pulled. If I had to pick who I want to see win, I'd go with Link."
"Why's that?"
"Man, so many questions. Fine. I guess I'd go with Link because he's just a pretty cool guy. That's all. Are we done here?"
"Yes. Thank you for your input."
He then walks over to Waluigi and Isabelle, who were playing a game of tennis with each other.
"Well, here's the most recent addition to this place, and her boyfriend who's not a fighter at all." Sakurai said.
"Darn it, you threw me off my A game!" Waluigi yelled at Sakurai.
"Well sorry." Sakurai said sarcastically, "Anyway, how are you all doing?"
"I'm personally having the time of my life here." Waluigi said.
"I'm doing just fine." Isabelle said, "I'm adjusting here quite nicely. And I'm so glad we can be together again."
"You said it." Waluigi said, "We talked about the whole voting for yourself thing, and it's all okay. Money isn't everything. I'm just glad we're back together."
"Wow. You, of all people accepting defeat." Sakurai said.
"I'm proud with how I did in the game." Waluigi said, "For a guy like me, I proved you don't need to be some fighter to prove your worth. Even if I had to lose because of HIM."
"I'm proud of you, too." Isabelle said, "And myself. No matter what, we did great."
"You two proved to be really good power players in this game." Sakurai said, "You guys lasted pretty long. So let me ask you this. Who do you want to win?"
"That's a tough question." Isabelle said, "I would want to see all my friends win. I can't just pick one."
"I guess I'd have to go with maybe Captain Falcon." Waluigi said, "He's a pretty all around nice guy."
"Well, thank you, you two. I'll leave the two of you to continue with your game." Sakurai said.
He then moves over to. where Kirby, Mario, and Robin are. Robin is sitting by the pool just reading, Kirby is busy stuffing his face with chips. Mario, on the other hand, was just sitting there not looking happy.
"Glad to see you all again." Sakurai said.
"Shove it, Sakurai!" Mario said bitterly.
"What's his problem?" Sakurai asked.
"He's just still upset that he lost." Robin said.
"Says the one who left real early in the competition for being a lazy smart mouth." Mario said.
"Hey, at least that's not as bad as how you treated people." Robin retorted, "You got what you deserved."
"Could one of you hand me another bag of those chips?" Kirby asked.
"Get them yourself, tubby!" Mario yelled.
"Real quickly," Sakurai said, "I'd like to know how you guys have been and whatnot."
"Well given that I didn't last very long," Robin said, "I feel that I could've gotten far had that not happen. I could've used my skills as an intelligent tactician to-"
"Oh, here he goes, bragging about how smart he is," Mario said, "reading his books all the time! You're just a lazy nerd!"
"-propel myself further. I'll admit that I messed up, but I still partially blame Samus." Robin continued.
"And he still keeps on talking." Mario mumbled.
"Yeah, I messed up badly, too." Kirby said, "I let the role-playing get to my head and cost us that challenge. At least I made it up to them."
"I just hated it the whole time!" Mario said, "The place sucked, my team sucked, and I was tricked by that Marth! I should be there right now!"
"So who do you guys want to win?" Sakurai asked.
"I would go with either Captain Falcon or Link." Kirby said, "We were on the same team, and I think they've both done really well."
"Definitely not Samus." Robin said, "But, if I had to pick, I'd go with Cloud. He has shown himself to be a really strong competitor."
"I don't want any of them to win. Especially not Cloud. He ruined things for me." Mario said.
"No, you were ruining things for him." Robin said.
"Yeah." Kirby said, "He was just being himself. You just don't like him because he's dating your ex girlfriend now."
"Oh, it's more than that." Mario said, "I hate those people that everyone loves for no reason. It's nice seeing him become such a wreck, though. If I had to pick someone, it'd be Samus."
"You are just picking her just to spite me." Robin said.
"And you're picking Cloud to spite me!" Mario said.
"No, I'm not." Robin said.
"Well, I'm just going to walk away from these two and get some food." Kirby said, "Nice talking to you."
"Glad to hear what you guys think." Sakurai said, "Now let's talk with some more of the losers."
He then heads over to Pit, Peach, and Little Mac, who were all playing a game of Frisbee. Mac is looking much better, with only some bandages wrapped around his head.
"Glad to see you're healing up just nicely, Mac." Sakurai said.
"Thanks," Mac said, "although that race was already dangerous from the start. I could've died."
"Well, you didn't." Sakurai said, "And if not for your action, Samus would have ended up in your position."
"And I would risk my life for her all over again." He said.
"Yeah." Pit said, "I was on the edge of my seat when I saw that episode."
"Nice to see you again, Pit." Sakurai said, "Sorry you didn't stay long enough."
"It's fine." Pit said, "I just can't believe I was tricked into thinking I messed up that challenge."
"I really regret not speaking up on your behalf that day," Mac said, "but we didn't have any way to prove that was him."
"Yeah." Peach said, "We all had pretty much been tricked at some point.
"And how have you been, princess?" Sakurai asked.
"Just fine." She said, "I've been mostly concerned about Cloud. I'm worried about him. I know he wants to win for me, but I feel that it's putting a lot of strain on him. It's not healthy."
"So I can assume that you still want him to win?" Sakurai asked.
"Yes," she said, "but I just hope he doesn't lose himself trying to do it."
"And what about you two?"
"I guess I'd go with Link." Link said, "He's been doing really great so far. I'm going to bet on Link."
"Well, for me, that's a toss up." Mac said, "On one hand, I want Samus to win. On the other, I'd go for Cap. My girlfriend, and my best friend, it's hard to pick. I know they've been working really well together, so at this point, I'd like to see either go all the way. They've done really well. To hell with Marth, but Link…"
"Yeah, but I'd still give it to Link." Pit said.
"Yeah," Mac said, "but I didn't know Link as much as I knew them. I know we were on the same team and all, but I didn't get to know him as much."
"Well, glad to talk to you three." Sakurai said.
He then leaves them and they continue with their Frisbee game, with Mac getting hit in the head with the disc. We then see Sakurai move to the tiki bar, where Ness, Donkey Kong, Rosalina, and Luigi were sitting.
CWell, the audience haven't seen some of you in a while." Sakurai said, "How has life been treating you all?"
"It's been fine." Ness said, "This is so much better than doing challenges."
"You said it." Luigi said.
CSo, anything you guys would like to say to the people at home about the competition?"
"Yeah." Luigi said, "I still feel terrible about not being able to help my team. I just wimped out, like I normally would. So much for trying to outdo my brother."
"Aw, don't be like that, man." Ness said, "I messed up big time, too. I just got distracted. But I will say that I had a fun time in that arcade."
"Well," Rosalina said, "I see that my mistake was not my fault at all, and that I was thrown off during my performance. Still, I tried my best."
"Man, you're awfully calm about that." DK said, "Nothing seems to faze you."
"So what about you, big guy?" Sakurai asked, "Got anything to say?"
"Yeah." DK said, "I can't believe I let my ego get the better of me. But I've improved on that since then."
"So who do you guys want to win?"
"I'm gonna have to give it to Cloud." Ness said, "Back when we were on the same team, he did a good job at leading us and helping us out."
"Yeah. I'd go with him as well." DK said.
"I'd have to go with Maybe Link or Samus." Rosalina said, "They both have seemed to overcome many obstacles in the game."
"Yeah," Luigi said, "I agree with you, except I'd go with Link and Captain Falcon. For the short time I knew them, they were such great guys to have around. But I'd be happy with anyone else besides Marth."
"Well, thanks for your input."
He then moves to remaining losers who were sitting and talking to each other. Those being Ryu, Lucina, Sonic, and Zelda.
"And now we come to you guys." Sakurai said, "Some who did pretty well, and others...well...not so good."
"Oh, ha ha. make fun of me because I was the first one eliminated, Sakurai." Sonic said.
"You were no help to begin with." Zelda said.
"You all just couldn't keep up with me." Sonic said.
"She is right, you know." Ryu said.
CAnyway...anything you all want to say to the entire viewing world?" Sakurai asked.
"Yeah," Sonic said, "I got something to say. Even though I left first, I'm still doing great. So any of you haters out there that think I sucked can go-"
"I am ashamed of the reason for my elimination. I let my code get in the way." Ryu said.
"Hey! Don't interrupt me!" Sonic yelled.
"I hate that I was manipulated." Zelda said, "I wanted to wanted in so bad. I feel as though I deserved to win."
"Whoa! Where is this attitude all of a sudden?" Sakurai asked.
"Sorry." She said, "I'm just really competitive, and hate losing. I thought I had it under control. Back home, people are annoyed by my competitiveness."
"For me," Lucina said, "it's a bummer that I couldn't win, but at least something positive came out of it. I now have the greatest boyfriend. Captain Falcon is a great guy, and I would love to see him wins. If he doesn't, I'll still be ok with that."
"Hmph." Sonic said, "I'd go with Link. My former team just doesn't understand me, so I'd pick someone who was on the other team. Link seems like a safe pick."
"I'm going with Samus." Zelda said, "She's going to leave everyone else in the dust. That, or Link. Link is someone I've known for a long time, so I'd say he has a good shot at it as well."
"I wish to see Cloud win." Ryu said, "He has proven himself to be a great opponent, and I respect him."
"Well, it's nice to know what you guys think." Sakurai said, "I'm going to leave you guys be, and I'll be back later. This evening, I will have a surprise for all of you."
Sakurai then walks off.
"A surprise?" Lucina said, "I wonder what he means by that."
"Given how he is, I don't think it's it's a good one." Ryu said.
"Maybe he's trying to make us think it's bad," Sonic said, "but in reality, I bet he's going to give one of us a second chance to go back in the game!"
"I wouldn't get your hopes up." Zelda said, "Given how close the end is, I highly doubt that's going to happen."
"It could happen!" Sonic yelled.
"Yeah, but hell will freeze before YOU are let back in." Zelda said.
All of them but Sonic laugh at this.
"You guys are no fun." Sonic said.
Sonic then walks away from them.
"I bet you all are happy to see some old faces." Sakurai said, "Will anything dramatic happen between them? And what is the surprise I have from them? Find out after the break."
Commercial Break
We start back later in the evening with everyone sitting together talking to each other.
"Well? Where is he?" Pit asked.
"Yeah." Ness said, "He said there was some big surprise coming."
"Just as I figured." Mac said, "I bet he was just lying to us."
"Wouldn't shock me." Robin said.
"Yeah." Fox said, "Throughout this whole competition he's had tricks and twists up his sleeve that have just been too insane. It's amazing how none of us have died yet."
"True, but take a look at those who are still in the game." Peach said.
"You're right." Lucina said, "After all we've been through, they're the ones who've been able to last the longest. They've tried their hardest to get here."
"Yeah, except for ONE of them." Fox said.
"I know, right?" Isabelle, "It's not right how far Marth has gotten."
"He tricked and manipulated a lot of us. He's scum." Mario said.
"Well, you're no saint, either." Zelda said, "You just ended up upsetting everyone and acted like a jackass!"
"Hey!" He said, "My whole team had turned on me!"
"Well, considering how you tried to mess with me and Cloud!" Peach said.
"And look at him, now." He said, "He's a wreck without you. Still surprised he's in the game."
"Come on, bro." Luigi said, "Give the guy a break."
"Oh, now I'm going to to take advice from my cowardly sidekick of a brother, who couldn't make it far because he does what he does best: Wimp out!" Mario yelled.
CHey, that's your brother you're insulting!" Ness said.
"Yeah, and he's useless. He's a whiny little meat shield! Why are you sticking up for him?"
"Where I come from," Pit said, "my goddess would not tolerate that attitude of yours."
"OH, SCREW YOU AND YOUR GODDESS!"
Pit then has a shocked look on his face and then gets on his knees and starts praying frantically.
CHear my words, Lady Palutena! He does not know the repercussions of his actions! He is a simple minded fool! Please have mercy on us all!" Pit was crying out.
He then curls up into a ball, shaking in fear.
"Geez, what's up with angel boy?" Mario asked.
Some of them try to calm Pit down.
"Don't insult the goddess. Don't insult the goddess. Don't insult the goddess." Pit mumbled over and over.
"It's gonna be ok, Pit." Isabelle said.
"Now look what you did!" Mac said, "Why can't you just shut up?!"
"Hey, at least I'm not going to be the size of a middle schooler the rest of my life!" Mario told him.
Then Mac is starting to get red faced at this.
"Easy, man." Waluigi told Mac, cDon't let what he's saying get to you. He's obviously got some issues of his own."
"Yeah. Apparently with his own ego." Lucina said.
"And I thought I was bad about that." DK said.
"Wow. It's funny seeing someone else get chewed out." Robin said.
"I wouldn't be saying these things if they weren't true!"
"Bite your tongue. I don't want anyone else's feelings to get hurt." Ryu said.
"Would someone please change the subject." Rosalina said, "I do think like that we've gone off on such a huge tangent."
"You're right." Kirby said, "We were talking about the ones who are still in the game."
Suddenly, they all see a big puff of smoke in front of them.
"OH NO!" Pit screamed, "SHE'S HERE! PLEASE HAVE MERCY ON US ALL! I'M SORRY FOR HIS ACTIONS! HE DOESN'T KNOW BETTER!"
When the smoke clears, they see its Sakurai.
"Man, all this drama and tension. I love it!" Sakurai said.
"What took you so long?" Fox asked.
"I wanted to make a grand entrance. Gotta love those smoke bombs." Sakurai said.
"So I assume that you're now going to reveal this surprise that you've been talking about?" Luigi asked.
"Correct you are!"
"Is it what I think it is?" Sonic asked, "Are you going to let one of us back in the game? Because if so, I feel that I-"
"Nope. Sorry. Not gonna happen." Sakurai said.
"So what is it?" Waluigi asked.
"Well...tonight, you all are getting to decide who goes home!"
They are all stunned from what what he said.
"Really?" Mac asked, "Oh, yeah! This is finally our chance!"
"I can't believe he's letting us do that. He's giving us a lot of power." Ryu said.
"Well, what are we waiting for? Let's get started." Peach said.
"Yeah, when do we start?" Ness asked.
"Since the beginning of the episode." Sakurai said.
"What are you talking about?" Robin said.
"Ever since the beginning of the episode," Sakurai explained, "I've been keeping track of how many times you All have said the name of one of the remaining five competitors. Even if you didn't say you wanted that person to win. The one that had their name said the most is getting the boot and being sent here."
"So we're not going to decide right now? This sucks." Mario said.
"Deal with it." Sakurai said, "I'm the host, not you. And the one that had their name is…."
The scene changes back to the island, and we see Master Hand dragging Link to the boat of losers. Link is not moving and just has a shocked look on his face. He gets thrown on the boat, and it sails off into the distance. We then transition back to the resort, with Link being dropped off, still having that shocked look.
"...Link. Glad to have you here, and sorry that you lost, but that's the way life works sometimes."
Sakurai then looks at the camera.
"And then there was four. What will happen, now that we've come so far? Who will be the ones to make it to the final three? Find out on the next exciting episode of Super...Smash...Island!"

Authors Notes
I was debating on if I wanted to do this kind of elielimination, since it's unfair, but I figured there was going to be at least one that was like this. Man, I can't believe we're finally at the final four. I'm glad that I was able to do this episode, and we could see everyone again. I can't wait to do the next episode. It's one that I have been excited for, and can't wait to get that one posted. I will try to get it out before the beginning of the new year. I want my final chapter of 2019 to be a really good one. The challenge is gonna be a fun one, and we're going to have a special guest star. I'll give you a hint to who it is. Sakurai mentioned him some episodes ago, that person and knows their way around these types of shows.
