I'm sorry for the late update but it's been rough for the past few months. I almost gave up on the stories because of the messages and reviews (the ones that I didn't approve to be viewed) that have been left either here or on my tumblr page. I welcome writing criticism if it will help the story and make me a better writer. I don't mind if it helps everyone have a more enjoyable reading experience with the stories.

What I didn't like what the rude comments and messages I was receiving. And for the anonymous person that told me that I had the gall to copy another person's story baffled me. From my knowledge, I didn't copy another person's story. This story (along with the other two that I have on my profile and the upcoming one that I am working on / the sequel to this story) it's what I had before I decided to rewrite it. I didn't copy my oc's (Olivia's daughter) name, age or the plot from another story. I didn't decide to rewrite the stories because the author did it too. I decided to rewrite the stories because I felt they were rushed (especially the sequel 'Hold On') and I wanted to go more in dept with the characters.

If anyone thinks that I did copy or if my story does sound something similar, let me know. I don't want my work to be similar to someone else's. It's not fair for the other writer or for you readers. Like I said before, I do apologize for my late update and, hopefully, I will be able to continue working on this story, 'Hold On', and the one shots.

I'm sorry for the long note and I hope you enjoy the chapter.

Kat let out a huff of mother and her have been waiting in the park for their visiting guests for two hours. She threw the tennis ball a bit more farther than before, making Riddler letting out a bark as he took off running. "What is taking them so long?" She asked her mother, not taking her eyes off Riddler.

"They will be here any moment," Liv laughed at her daughter's pout. She would be lying if she also wasn't feeling impatient. "You skyped with him two days ago for more than four hours."

"But it's different," Kat frowned, glancing around the park again for what felt like the hundredth time. "I haven't seen him since he was taken away. Almost a whole year."

Olivia grimaced, remembering how Calvin begged his mother and child services to let him stay with the detective and her daughter. It had tore Liv's heart hearing him cry and trying to reach to her as he was taken away. It had taken a week for Calvin and his grandparents to convince his mother to let him keep in contact with Olivia and Kat.

She was shaken from her thoughts when she heard a loud whistle and somebody shouting her and Kat's name. From a short distance she saw a young boy with an older couple trailing behind him. She immediately recognized him and waved towards him.

"Calvin!" Kat shouted the moment she spotted the young boy, who was like a little brother to her.

Letting out a laugh, she began to run towards him, with Riddler following not far behind. They both met halfway and collided into a bear crushing hug. They almost tumbled down, making the adults that were approaching them laugh at their antics.

"I missed you!" Kat excitedly grinned at him as she broke away from the hug. "You grew!"

"Not by much," Calvin grinned back. "But I know I'm going to be way taller than you when I'm your age."

"We will see about that," Kat ruffled his hair. The teen turned to look at his grandparents when they approached them and shook their hands. "Hi, Mr. and Mrs. Drecker. It's nice to finally meet you in person." She was able to hold on to Riddler's collar before he could jump up and licked their faces.

"Nice to meet you two, Kathryn," the old lady smiled kindly at the teen. "Calvin has talked so much about you and your mother. I'm sorry we couldn't all meet in Halloween but Calvin came down with the flu and we couldn't fly out here in the cold weather."

"Please call me Kat," she smiled at them. "Kathryn sounds too formal. And it's ok we couldn't meet. Mom explained why you couldn't fly out."

The old couple let out a small laugh as the detective approached them. She shook their hands and introduced herself as well before she was hug attacked by Calvin. "I guessed I was missed too."

"Of course you were mom number 2," Calvin grinned at her. Even if he spent a short time with them, he looked up to Liv as if she was his second mom. Olivia had almost cried in happiness when he gave her the water color of her with her last name as his last name.

Riddler let out a bark and sniffed around the boy.
"So this is Riddler!" Calvin let go of Olivia and crouched down to pet the dog. He laughed when Riddler began to bounce excitedly around him and licked his face. "He's bigger than he looked."

"I had to convince my mom to keep him."

"How did you get him?" Calvin stood up again but continued to pet Riddler, as Kat connected the leash to Riddler's collar.

Liv pulled Calvin into a side hug and glanced down at him. "You can hear the story as we walk towards lunch. I'm sure your grandparents are a bit hungry after the flight."

"Can we go to that place where you can make your own personal pizza?" Calvin asked.

Kat smiled at her mom. "Yes, mom please? Can we go there?"

Both kids did their puppy eyes at the detective.

"How can I say no to you both when you pull those faces?" Liv shook her head, making Calvin's grandparents laugh at the kids' antics.

"You can't. That's the point," Calvin grinned at her.

Liv smiled and ruffled both of their hairs, making them whined at their disheveled hair. Both kids began to walk away with Riddler leading the way, and the adults trailing and talking behind them.

"Full house!" Kat smirked at Calvin, putting her cards down on the coffee table so he could see. "Guess I won."

Calvin let out a sigh. "Of course...if I didn't have a straight flush! Boom!" He threw down his cards on the table. "I beat you again!"

"How in the hell did you win three times in a row!?" She threw her hands up in exasperation. "You gotta be cheating!"

"Maybe I'm just a better player than you! OOOHHH!" Calvin hollered, swiping the chips to his side.

Riddler let out a bark from the armchair

"See! Even he agrees with me."

"Another round!"

"You wanna lose again!?"

"If you two don't settle down, there isn't going to be another round!" They heard the detective shout from her room.

"Sorry!" Both of them apologized, but they snickered quietly.

They quickly started a new game of poker, staring down at the cards in their hands. Calving glimpsed towards Olivia's closed bedroom door for a second before looking down at his hand again. "So are we going to interrogate this Porter guy during dinner?"

Kat smirked at him and nodded. Calvin's grandparents were going to meet up with some old friends for dinner and a show, so Calvin was able to stay with them until tomorrow morning when they will all go the zoo.

"We can team up on him with all of our questions? Have you interrogated him?"

"Not really," she shrugged. She lowered her voice and frowned. "I haven't seen him much. He and mom go to lunch mostly but she does seem happy."

"Maybe she finally found the one...you know, after your dad."

Kat smiled sadly at him. "Maybe. I just don't want her to go through another break up. The last time her and Porter dated, he broke her heart. Out of all her relationships, Porter's break up made her sad the most. Even more sad than when Stabler left."

A knock was heard at the door, making their conversation comes to an end. Calvin and Kat stared at each for another moment before she got up and went to get the door. She peeked through the peephole and saw Porter waiting patiently in the hallway.

"Hey Porter," the teen said politely when she opened the door. "Come in." She stepped aside to let the agent inside the apartment. She noticed the roses and the bag of food he was carrying. "My mom is just finishing getting ready. She'll be out any moment."

"Thanks Kat," Porter nodded at the teen, stepping inside the apartment. "I bought pasta. I wasn't sure what to bring, and pasta seemed like a safe option for everybody. At least I hope so."

"Pasta sounds good," the teen shrugged, closing the door after Porter walked in. "We were just playing a game."

The agent noticed the young boy, sitting cross legged on the carpet. He put the food on the kitchen counter, but kept holding a bouquet of flowers in his hand. He smiled to the boy, "You must be Calvin. Olivia has mentioned you before."

The young boy narrowed his eyes at the agent, as if sizing him up. "So you're the guy who is dating Olivia?"

Kat suppressed a smile as she sat down across from Calvin. She gave him a wink and gathered her cards in her hands again. "Calvin this is Dean Porter," the teen nodded to the agent, who sat on the couch, staring at both children. " And Porter as you know, this is Calvin."

"Liv mentioned that you live with your grandparents," Porter smiled at the boy.

Calvin nodded. "I do. Vermont is a pretty cool place, but there are times that I do miss New York." He frowned down at his cards. "Olivia took good care of me and she is like a second mother to me."

Dean nodded.

Before anyone could say anything else, the door from Liv's bedroom opened. The detective stepped out to the living room, wearing a black ruffle wrap dress with black heels. She smiled at the sight before her. She felt warmth spread around her chest, upon seen how domestic the scene was. She wished that this is what she would come home to everyday.

"You look breathtaking," Porter smiled standing up from the couch, making his way towards her. He gave her a hug and kiss on the cheek. "These are for you," he passed the bouquet of roses.

Olivia took the roses, giving him a radiant smile. "I'll put them in a vase."

"I'll get dinner ready."

Both children continued to observe the adults as they moved around the kitchen. Calvin threw a chip at the teenager, getting her attention. He waved his hand for her to come closer, so he could whisper, not wanting for the adults to hear their conversation.

"He seems alright," Calvin mumbled, once Kat sat next to him. "You think he's changed like he told you?"

"For the sake of our mom," Kat peered towards the kitchen again. "I hope he has. Cragen think he does. I just can't shake the resentment I still hold for him."

Calvin nodded, knowing the feeling. He still felt bitter towards his mother for just taking him away from Olivia without warning or consideration for his feelings. It took him months for him to forgive her. He loves his grandparents with all his heart, but he sometimes wonder how his life would have been like if he was able to stay with Olivia and be raised with her. He knew that she was just a phone call, text or video chat away. But it wasn't the same as living with her and Kat.

"Maybe we should be nice to him," he shrugged. "Not too nice. Like respectful but still ask him questions."

She laughed and nodded. "I know what you mean."

"What do you two want to drink?" Liv asked the children, who were now sitting next to each other on the floor.

"Cranapple juice," both of them answer. They grinned at each and high fived at their response.

Porter let out a low chuckle at their antics.

The kids began to clean up the coffee table, when they noticed that dinner was served. Riddler let out a yawn, closed his eyes and settled comfortably in the armchair. Calvin smirked at Kat. "Bet you a buck that I can make Porter choke on his food or drink."

"Make it five if you can make them both choke."

"Deal!" Shaking her hand.

"Whatever it is, no." Liv pointed at both of them. "Behave you two."

"We didn't do anything," Kat frowned at her mother. "You don't even know what we said."

"No pranks. I already had to deal with a plastic snake earlier today."

"That was pretty funny," Calvin laughed, remembering the scream the detective let out in her room when he put the snake in front of the bathroom door on the floor.

"It was," Kat ruffled his hair.

"Dinner is ready." Porter announced, placing down the two glasses of wine for himself and Olivia.

They all sat down on the chairs and began to eat. They all ate in silence for a few minutes, before Calvin decided to break it. "So what are your intentions towards Liv?"

The adults stopped eating and stared at the boy. Olivia glanced at her daughter, and noticed that was also staring at Dean. Both children were focused on the answer that he was going to give them. She grabbed Porter's hand and gave him an encouraging smile.

"I'm sure you have been informed that Olivia and I had dated before?"

"That's why I want to know your intentions towards her," the boy nodded, putting his for down. Giving the agent his full attention. "You broke her heart once. I wasn't there to witness it. So we need to know."

"What we are trying to say is," Kat shifted in her seat, glaring at the agent, " if you have changed just like you and Cragen and others have said. That you are more considerate of her feelings towards you. That you just won't dismiss them and leave like if she didn't matter to you-"

"Kathryn!" Liv stared at her daughter in shock.

"It's fine," Porter gave her hand a squeeze. He looked back at the kids in across from him. "I know what you both are trying to say." He let out a deep breath and stared at the children, not breaking eye contact. "I can't promise that I will stay forever with your mother because the future is unpredictable and anything can happen. But what I do promise is that I will treat your mother with love and respect. I won't take her for granted like I did before. I have changed."

"Yes, you have," Liv nodded and gave him a small smile.

He smiled back and glanced at Calvin and Kat again. "I know you may not believe me now, but I will show the love I have towards your mother with actions and words," he raised Liv's hand and kissed the back of her hand, staring up at her eyes, "for as long as she wants me by her side. If it's forever then forever it is."

Both children stared at each other and thought over what Porter had said. After a long silence, Kat nodded at Calvin.

"Okay," the boy shrugged, picking up his fork again. Both of them continued to eat.

"That is it?" Liv stared at both of them in disbelief. "No more questions?"
"He answered the question we wanted an answer to. Even if it was over the top but he still answered it." Kat took a sip of her juice. "So yeah, no more questions."

"That went better than I expected," Porter grinned at Olivia.

"Plus," Kat continued as if the agent had not talked, "if you do end up breaking my mother's heart before we can just give a call the squad a call." She smiled up at him, spinning the fork in the pasta on her plate. "They will make it look like an accident."

"Kathryn Benson!"

"Hey, I'm just saying," the teen shrugged. "Munch told me to give him a call and say the code word."

"The one that talks about the black helicopters in the sky?" Calvin curiously asked.

"The same one."

"He's cool."

Olivia groaned in exasperation. "I'm going to have a talk with him."

The kids laughed and continued to eat. Kat glanced at Calving and gave him a discreet smirk. He returned the smirk and took a sip of his juice. Another moment passed in silence before Calvin broke it again.

"So when will be the wedding?"

The adults choked on their wines while both kids let out laughs. Kat high five him and passed a five dollar bill to Calvin.

Hope you guys had good holidays and I will update as soon as possible.
