Destiny Islands with Donald, Goofy, Mickey & Aced. Being furthest from the dark invasion they believed they'd have some time before the brunt. Much to their surprise the darkness had arrived before them. As a result the past couple of hours had been filled with constant battle. Eventually the townspeople had either been all evacuated or overtaken, save for the resident of a villa near the shoreline (is revealed to be Riku's house).

Riku's mom, a silver haired woman wearied by the world, is sitting on the veranda, waiting for either the heroes or the heartless. Mickey manages to reach the house first. Wasting no time the king tries to usher the woman away, but she makes no move to follow.

Instead, she softly smiles to the mouse and asks "You're King Mickey, aren't you?" Surprised by the question, he asks her how she knew. The mother replies that her son told her all about his adventures the last time he was there. Apparently it was nice, one the only times they could talk comfortably in recent memory.

Calmly she presses a silver jewelry box into the mouse's hands and tells him to give it to Riku. It will apparently reveal an important truth held by his family for generations. Mickey pushes it back and tries to emphasize the need to evacuate. But with an air of melancholy she apologizes, "It's already too late".

From the island a flood of darkness as deep as the one that ended the age of fairytales comes pouring out of the cave, infecting the very ocean itself. The king is flabbergasted at the apocalyptic display, and just as the rest of his allies join him (having just finished their duties), they are equally stupefied.

The Dark Inferno flies from the island, Riku's mom doesn't resist as she's cut down, and the four warriors are quickly overwhelmed.

Sora and company encounter Mickey's heart in the final world. The king apprises the trio of everything that has happened, Destiny Island included. The onslaught of revelations utterly shatters the teens, all of whom immediately scramble to induce the power of awakening. They are stopped though by the comforting specter, who instead entreats them to save their energy to save Minnie for him.

Sora, now having lost all patience for "this scavenger hunt", vocally forsakes his destiny. This admission causes his older self to manifest, and begins to earnestly entreat Sora back towards the path. He even goes so far as to drop all pride prostrate himself to beseech the trio. It all falls on deaf ears as far as his junior is concerned, and he dismissively turns his back on him.

Not wanting to deny their friend's wishes, and bearing their own reservations towards the plan, Riku and Kairi also turn away. The young woman offers to piggyback Sora's heart into her body, thus allowing the hero to awaken prematurely. The last master makes no move from his position as the teens fade out of existence.

Chapter ends with the fabric of universe begins to collapse in on itself. And as the peerless horizons of the Final World give way to an all consuming void; the master calmly gets to his feet and sighs out "fine, plan c it is then...", vanishing before even the peerless waters drains to nothing.

A/N:

And so we enter the final act of this story. It has been quite a ride, but I'm glad to finally get this out there. I'll be away from my computer (this time planned) for a short holiday trip. If any of you come across this, I genuinely thank you for your time and consideration.
