Authors note: Welcome to the next chapter of the Draugr. In the last chapter Elsa shows she wants to make things right, Stephen offered her a way, but its not what it seems... I will not tell you what happened... I will let you all read what happened.
Also now it is time! I have been using a lot of symbolism in this story, sneaking it into the chapters, now its time to reveal some of it and will be revealing it at the end of each chapter from this chapter forward! I did not show this sooner as I was worried it would spoil too much, but now its the perfect time!
Anyway, enough of me blabbering, please continue to read on to your hearts content and please leave a review when done as your opinions matter.
~It takes courage to endure the sharp pains of self discovery rather than choose to take the dull pain of unconciousness that would last the rest of our lives~
Gasping Elsa awoke and looked around wildly to find herself... in Arendelle?
Confused she quickly got up from bed and ran to the nearest window where she opened it up and looked outside.
It was colorful, peaceful, people went about their day doing chores or working or selling their wares. All looked happy as it was summer and the weather was just right.
Closing the window Elsa scratched her head in confusion even more when she turned to look at the mirror and saw herself.
Her hair was loose in waves, her dress is white with blue diamonds and purple see through and train.
The same dress she got when she became a fifth element.
Touching her hair and her dress Elsa backed away as she wondered over and over "Whats going on?",
"Elsa?" she heard making her jump, turning she looked at the door to find Anna walk in. She wore a green dress and a long train, a tiara on her head.
Elsas eyes widen as she stared at her and asked "Anna... why are you wearing that?",
"Oh this?" asked Anna with a large smile as she spun around "Its my queen dress, is it not pretty?",
"Yes" said Elsa then laughed a little as relief set in. It was a dream, what happened in the Southern Isles, Hans, everything! It was just a nightmare.
"Elsa, are you okay?" asked Anna confused and worried then flinched in surprise as Elsa ran over and hugged her.
"Elsa whats wrong? This is not like you" said Anna now more worried than before,
"Yes, I am fine" said Elsa as she pulled away and held her sisters hands "Everything is fine".
Anna just smiled and led Elsa out to the hallway. As they walked Elsa felt her smile widen as she looked around.
Everything was just perfect, just as it should be.
Arriving to a dinning room Anna dropped Elsa off and said "Wait here, have to get Kristoff then we can spend the day together before you go back to the forest",
"Sounds amazing" said Elsa, Anna laughed and smiled before leaving the room happily. When alone Elsa hugged herself happily before turning to look out the window. When she did she felt the blood on her face run cold.
Standing outside in the courtyard was a figure, though she could barely see it, knowing it was there spooked her.
Then just as it was there it vanished before her eyes.
Rubbing her eyes Elsa looked again, seeing nobody she wondered if she saw what she though she saw.
Slowly backing away Elsa was on high alert as something did not feel quite right at this moment, it was as if she was not alone.
Suddenly as she took another step back she felt herself slip and fall backwards unto her bottom.
"What tha?" She said as she looked down at the floor to find it covered with ice. Before she was able to stand up she was pushed by a huge gust of winter air, dragging her down the room and through the hall and into a room.
Jumping up Elsa turned and threw a blind punch only to collide into an ice barrier, a person was behind the ice barrier, a barrier which the person summoned away.
Elsa stared in shock at what she saw, how could it be?! Nobody could use ice! Only she could use ice unless...
The person took a step closer allowing Elsa to see who she was exactly.
Her hair was done in a tight bun that had some hairs sticking out of the bun, her clothes which consisted a dress of ice blue, the skirt was torn and tattered, her blouse was disheveled and stains on it, her feet had no shoes.
If Elsa was honest she would have called this person some crazy homeless person... but this person was not homeless or even a stranger...
This person is...
"Me" gasped Elsa in shock as she stared at herself.
"Now don't scream... please don't scream" begged elsa... not elsa... she is Elsa... but she is here!
Elsa screamed loudly,
"And you scream... why does everybody always do the opposite of what is told of us?" said the other Elsa before she vanished when the door burst open and Anna and Kristoff ran into the room.
"What happened?" asked Kristoff,
"Why did you scream!?" asked Anna as the two began to look around, of course they would not find that other Elsa as she vanished.
Since she vanished Elsa was forced to smile and lie "Nothing, though I saw a bug",
"A bug?" asked Anna confused as she looked around to find that there was no bug to be seen crawling around,
"Yes a big one, but its gone now" continued to lie Elsa as she knew that if she told them that she got a visit from herself they would think she was crazy.
"Oh... okay" said Anna even more confused before turning and gesturing to the door "Breakfast?",
"Yes, I am starving" said Elsa holding the fake smile as she walked out the door and into the dinning room.
Darkness surrounded the isles ominously, clouds of black and gray surrounded the area as the wind picked up swirling around the leaves as sinister plans were in place.
Standing back Stephen, the trolls, the council and nobles of both Arendelle and the isles smiled as Elsa entered the room.
She wore a long white dress decorated with blue, purple and pink diamonds, her hair was loose, her feet bare. On her face was a smile as her eyes shone in a pink light.
Waving her hands she summoned her power, sparks danced around the room.
The people stare in awe as Elsa summoned the spirits power. First was wind, it formed and danced around among the sparks, forming a crystal. Next was fire, again the sparks formed a purple crystal. Then water and finally earth. The four crystals of different colors floated in the air, awaiting Elsas command.
"Stop it! Stop this madness!" was heard. Smirking Stephen turned to face Anna and Kristoff. The two were trapped by chains of darkness, said chains tightened every time they struggled and yelled.
"There is nothing to stop" said Stephen paying no mind as he turned his attention back to Elsa as she danced around the area of the tower. Her feet touching the carvings on the ground as she guided the ice crystals into the indentations that were carved around a pedestal.
The rest of the day Elsa spent it walking around and looking through Arendelle, the people were happy, they cheerfully greeted her, spoke to her.
It made her happy as she interacted with them and even played with the kids.
Laughing and chasing them, throwing a ball, the laughter was loud as the ball flew through the air and landed in an alleyway.
Walking over to get the ball Elsa passed entered an alleyway where there was an open door at the end.
Walking in Elsa found the ball inside a room, said room was full of mirrors, mirrors which were hanged in the walls, though they were not straight, they were all crocked as if whoever hanged them did not bother to straighten them out.
Bending down she picked up the ball and turned around only to scream when she found a person behind her...
Herself... her otherself...
"Please listen to me" she began in a pleading voice as she approached Elsa.
"What are you doing here?! And?!" Elsa paused as she began to question her sanity before demanding "Who are you?!",
"I am you" said the other Elsa as she took a step over and said "Please hear me out! I know you remember what happened in the Isles, the trials, the draugr, that vengeful ghost, the mylings, the truth mirror... and Hans".
Elsa shook her head and said "No, no, that never happened! It was all just a crazy nightmare!",
"It is not a nightmare Elsa, it really happened and what you see around you... You know this is not real! This life is not real!" begged her other self "You need to snap out of it!",
"Why would I listen to you?! You could be another trick for all I know!" Elsa demanded and accused the other Elsa,
"Because you are me and what would I gain by leading myself down the wrong path" said the other Elsa as she walked closer she said "You need to snap out of this, the moment you get on the nokk you will accept this reality as your own and you will never be able to escape, you cannot let that happen! You need to put on your crown! Its the only way you will snap out of it!".
"Why should I?! This is my home! I am happy here!" Elsa cried out when the other Elsa vanished before the kids ran in and called "Snow queen Elsa? Are you stuck?",
"No... I am coming" answered Elsa as she calm down before leaving.
The crystals fitted perfectly unto the indentations on the ground. With power they glowed before it spread through the carvings on the ground like blood on veins. Lighting a path as it covered the pedestal and made its way into the dark reflective mirror behind the pedestal.
Having finished Elsa in a daze slowly made her way over to the pedestal. Placing a hand on the stone pedestal she sat on it before laying down and closing her eyes.
"The time is coming" muttered Stephen when a yell was heard. Turning he saw Hans and Njord make their way into the room after having snuck through the window.
Before the two could react Stephen raised his hands causing the chains which held Kristoff and Anna captive to come to life and wrap around the black cat and draugr.
Struggling Hans tried to break free, which would have been easy, but the chains were strengthen by some kind of supernatural dark forced rendering them unbreakable.
"Ah Hans, Agnaar, just in time" said Stephen in a happy tone "I was worried you would miss the return of our master"
Sitting in a table Elsa smiled as she and Anna played chess.
"Check mate" said Elsa as she managed to coordinate and attack the king chess piece thus winning the game.
"You beat me again, how do you do it Elsa?" asked Anna with a smile, Elsa smiled but before she could answer the other Elsa appeared behind Anna.
Angry and annoyed Elsa growled "Why are you doing this?!",
"Just listen to me Elsa! I know these past couple of days have not been easy, its been difficult to learn all these truths and it would be easier to go, to pretend that what you learned is not true, but you know you cannot ignore this" Anna looked confused as at Elsa as she looked behind her to where Elsa was looking then back at Elsa. The look on her face confirmed that only she could see the other Elsa, nobody else.
"Even if what you say is true why would I agree with you?" said Elsa angry,
"Because if you don't" said the other Elsa in a serious and grave tone "People will die Elsa",
"Well maybe I do not want that responsibility! Maybe all I want is to do what I want! Is that too much to ask?! Is it too much to ask to be free?!" growled Elsa,
"It depends... are you willing to sacrifice everything for this fantasy? Are you willing to be responsible for the consequences of your actions? The consequences of your choice?" asked the other Elsa gravely,
"Anything to have this is worth it!" answered Elsa,
"Uh are you okay?" asked Anna as she grew nervous seeing her sister talk to nobody,
"What about Hans?" asked the other Elsa,
"What about him!? He is a monster!" Answered Elsa angrily, her voice cracking as it sounded like she was trying to convince herself that that was a fact rather than speaking out,
"Is he now? After everything you two went through?" said the other Elsa as she shook her head in disappointment "Its so sad... I truly though you cared about him, but I guess its just easier to let somebody else take the fall for your actions" turning around she added "Seems that not even I know myself" with that she vanished.
There was silence as Elsa collapsed unto a chair, "So uh, whats going on?" asked Anna after she cleared her throat.
Looking down at her hands Elsa gripped then close and answered "Nothing"
Darkness and mist which surrounded the area now entered the inside of the tower, inside there were candles lit up and chanting. Laying on a pedestal was Elsa, her eyes were closed as she lay there as still as death, the carvings that connected the crystals to the pedestal and led from there to the ground towards the mirror glowed brighter and brighter as the colors that represented the elements was drained by the dark reflective mirror.
The hooded people chanted, the trolls waved their hands and chanted, nearby Stephen watched with great satisfaction.
Meanwhile Anna, Kristoff, Njord and Hans continued to struggle as they desperately tried to get free but every time they struggled the chains which bond them seem to come to life and grow tighter and heavier.
Smirking with satisfaction Stephen said as he held the truth mirror "Your all too late, soon our master will be free to reclaim this world as his own".
Anger boiled inside of Hans as he struggled more "Wait until I am free!",
"And you will do what? Your a failure, always have, always will be? What power do you have to stop our master? To stop us? To stop what has been set in motion many years ago?" said Stephen as he walked closer.
"You evil man!" growled Anna,
"Tisk tisk, not polite princess" taunted Stephen as he reached and cupped Annas face into his hand "Wish they would have sent you to boarding school to teach you manners",
"I will have your head!" yelled Anna as she threw her fist, it connected with Stephens cheek giving her a lucky shot.
Taken a back Stephen held his injured jaw before growling and pointing the truth mirror at Anna and saying "Time to give you that long overdue punishment" as he held the mirror it began to glow.
Annas eyes widen, a pinkish mist surrounded her eyes before they began to glow fully pink.
Suddenly there was a crash, sort of the sound of glass breaking, the pink inside her eyes slowly began to crack before it broke and fell off of her eyes.
She just stared in shock before her eyes closed and she felt limp.
"Anna! What did you do?!" demanded Kristoff as he and Hans struggled more,
"I gave her a lesson or two" said Stephen evily as he turned to look at Elsa who was still deeply asleep under the spell.
Sitting down in her room Elsa stared out the window as the sun slowly set. She had her shawl wrapped around her as she watched.
What the other self told her kept repeating in her head.
"It depends... are you willing to sacrifice everything for this fantasy? Are you willing to be responsible for the consequences of your actions?"
The other Elsa told her, try as she might she just could not ignore it or push it out of her mind.
What if its true? What if this is all not real? If its not...
She shook her head, she did not want to even think... but at the same time she could not ignore.
Standing up she decided that a good walk around the castle would calm her.
So she left her room and made her way through the many halls containing pictures and paintings only to notice something strange.
All of the painting and pictures, they were all crocked, not straight, which was so odd as Gerda was very careful to make sure everything was neat and tidy.
Touching the painting of Joan of Arc Elsa turned it, straightening it out only to jump back when there was a flash. Looking around in horror Elsa saw how the environment kept... flickering?... changing back and forth between two images...
One was a perfect hallway with painting, the other was a scene underwater, the walls were decaying and broken as was the items.
Back and forth, back and forth both images flashed before it settled back into the perfect image.
Dread filled Elsa as she tried to make sense of what she saw. She wanted to ask what was that, but she knew better, she knew what she saw and what it meant...
It terrified her...
"Elsa" she heard, turning she saw Anna standing at the door, with a smile she said "The nokk is in the fjord waiting to take you home",
"Home... yes" said Elsa unsure as she followed Anna.
As she followed Anna she lagged a bit behind as she though over and over. Earlier today she was happy and eager, but now she was doubtful and unsure as her seemingly perfect world did not seem as perfect as before.
Arriving to the Fjord Elsa found herself starring face to face with the Nokk as it waited to take her back to the forest.
As she approached the water horse Elsa grew more and more hesitant as the other Elsas words rang in her mind over and over.
" You need to snap out of this, the moment you get on the nokk you will accept this reality as your own and you will never be able to escape"
Stopping mid step Elsa felt the dread paralyze her as reality set in.
"This is not real" she whispered and the environment around around her began to flicker and flash back and forth. One seeing being sunny, bright, green and perfect, the other dark, destroyed, the people were not even people more like an idea of what people could be that was never completed.
The Nokk made its way over to Elsa and as it did it also flashed and flickered, one image was a beautiful and elegant horse made out of water, the other image was a horse that was grayish white, black sockets for eyes, very mountrous.
"You need to put on your crown! Its the only way you will snap out of it!"
Gripping her hands Elsa threw her hands over to the Nokk and shouted "This is not real!" Ice shot out and hit the Nokk causing it to flee.
"Elsa what has gotten into you?! Why are you-",
"Your not real! Nothing here is real!" screamed Elsa as she pointed at Anna then at everything else "Life is not like this! I want it to be! I want things to be easy! But I cannot ignore what I have learned! I cannot stand by and watch people suffer just because I don't want to accept the consequences of my actions!"
The environment began to flicker faster and faster till there was a loud crash as the illusion broke. Covered her eyes Elsa hoped that this would be over when a terrifying voice whispered in her ear "You refuse the dream life I gave you? Well lets see how you like living your worst nightmare!"
Elsa screamed as she was dropped from nowhere. With a loud thud she landed on snow, looking up she saw she was in the north moutain.
Getting up she felt a huge sense of urgency as she began to run, all she could think off was to get back to Arendelle, put on her crown and get out of this place!
As she ran she found the Duke and his soldiers entered the room and barricaded the door.
Not slowing down Elsa forced herself through only to yell when one of the soldiers grabbed her by her long loose hair and pulled her back while taunting "Pretty hair".
Growling Elsa managed to pulled away from the guard and run down the stair, tripping twice and making her way out the door with them chasing her.
Running into the forest Elsa hid behind a tree, the guards and the Duke ran pass her. Sighting Elsa quickly picked up her hair into a bun, kicked off her shoes and tore off the train and part of her skirt before she continued her run to Arendelle.
Sweat falling, feet hurting, Elsa did not stop as her mind screamed over and over "I have to get back to Arendelle! I have to get my crown!"
Suddenly she screamed as she was picked up from behind. Slowly she rose to the sky as she was picked up by Marshmallow who roared at her face.
Acting fast Elsa reached to the back to her dress, tugged and tore till finally it broke apart causing her to fall to the ground while Marshmallow was left holding the back piece of her dress.
Once landing on the ground Elsa turned and ran down the snow covered mountain as fast as she could.
As she ran the environment changed all around her till she was back at the palace running down the halls at fast speed. So fast that she found herself slamming face first against a closed door.
This caused her to collapse to the ground and hold her face as it throbbed in pain. She pressed her hands against her face to cool the pain down before slowly getting up and looked around.
She was in her room in the Arendelle castle, locked up.
In a panic Elsa reached and twisted the pulled on the door. Desperately trying to get it to open or budge, but the door refused to open, not even an inch.
Slamming her fist against the door Elsa rested her forehead against the cool wooden frame as words entered her head. She could hear her parents voices, especially her mothers. All of them calling her a disappointment, weak, spineless, a coward, a monster. It played in her head over and over.
Elsa laughed weakly as she covered her ears in an attempt to block it all out.
It was funny really, once she wanted to shut the world out, once she wanted to be free.
Now what she wanted had turned into her worst nightmare. A nightmare she wanted to escape but could not no matter how hard she tried.
"You do not see, the only problem around here, is you, nobody else" she heard.
To this Elsas eyes widen as she though, yes, all of the dangers that Arendelle went through was because of her.
She gripped unto the door nob, yes... she was the problem, but! Now that she knows... she can fix it!
With that she twisted the door nob yet again, slowly this time.
The door opened...
Pushing the door opened Elsa stood back as the door opened with ease compared to how it refused to open a second ago.
Taking a step outside Elsa breathed then took another step and another only to jump when the door suddenly slammed behind her.
This caused Elsa to run, as she ran she heard the door open and slam close over and over. As she ran she looked behind her to see the hallway shrinking, as it shrank the door of her room got closer and closer to her, the door opening and closing over and over. Like a mouth threatening to eat her.
Elsa ran faster upon seeing this, her feet hurting, her heart racing. Fear and panic as she ran down the shrinking hall towards the large double doors.
If she makes it there! If she gets there! She will be safe.
She spoke it over and over in her mind like a mantra. With a final push Elsa broke through the double doors before slamming the doors close behind her.
There was a slam then nothing, it went quiet. Pressing her back against the door Elsa took a breath as she felt safe.
Suddenly there was a large crack, looking down at the ground Elsa saw the floor cracking, it was a small one, then it grew bigger and bigger till it led her to a figure standing before her, back towards the throne where the crown of arendelle was placed.
Looking up at the figure Elsa felt the floor be pulled from her. Standing before her, standing between her and the throne... was Hans...
He stood before her, his gray skin cracked and oozing black gunk, his hair gray, tattered version of the coronation outfit he once wore, eyes completely black.
It was like he was an idea or a creation, not the real person.
His mouth opened to reveal dagger like teeth, black ooze falling from his mouth before charging.
Jumping out of the way Elsa heard the door crash as "Hans" collided against it.
Scrambeling to her feet Elsa got on her feet and ran to the throne to grab and put on the crown.
Suddenly she cried out as she felt a tug on her leg causing her to fall.
Kicking and pulling Elsa reached for the crown, put was turned around as "Hans" got on top of her and placed his hands on her neck.
Elsa struggled as she tried to get his hands off of her with no avail. He just squeezed tighter and tighter, black eyes starring at her with sadistic pleasure.
With one hand Elsa pushed against him, with the other hand she reached around the ground.
Closing her eyes Elsa felt tears fall, this was not Hans, she knew that, it was far too obvious as his form began to fade and twist, trying to keep itself from vanishing.
With a final cry Elsa grabbed unto the crown and said "I will make things right" before placing it albietly clumsily unto her head, there was a flash of light... And then... nothing...
Gasping Elsa rose from the pedestal into a sitting position as she looked around. As she did she felt a sharpness in her eyes.
Wiping it away from her face with her hands she looked down to find that in her hands there were shards of pink reflective glass, but they were only there for a small moment as they melted away into nothing.
"Elsa!" She heard, turning she saw Anna unconscious, Kristoff, Hans and Njord, the group was tied up by dark chains. What surprised her was Hans being there as she was sure he would have left.
Before she could say anything there was a loud crash.
The room became silent, turning Elsa faced the dark reflective mirror as it slowly cracked to reveal an opening. From it a hand of dark mist reached out from the dark void.
"Your too late!" cheered Stephen as the Arendellian and southern isles nobles, councils and trolls celebrated in glee the release of their master and the impending doom that would soon follow.
A shadowy wispy hand reached from the dark cursed mirror, slowly pulling its shadowy body from the confines of its prison.
Horrified Elsa, Hans, Kristoff and Njord just stared in shock and silence as the thing fully pulled itself from the mirror to reveal a large blob of shadow darkness that shifted and changed as if it was made from mist, its glowing red eyes stared the the group before it.
"Master" said Stephen as he and the rest bow down low towards the shadow figure. Terrified Elsa got up and off of the pedestal, she ran over to where Hans, Anna, Kristoff and Njord were.
Grabbing unto the chains she and Hans pulled causing the chains to break thus freeing them.
While they did that the shadowy mist got closer to Stephen, place a "hand" on Stephen and then all of a sudden it jumped on top of Stephen. His body dissolved and was covered in darkness as the floor disappeared into the darkness.
Dragging everybody inside, Anna slumped and was dragged into the darkness. Hans reacted and grabbed unto Anna, being dragged along.
Grabbing unto Hans arm Elsa pulled in an attempt to help, but she found herself being dragged along herself, but Elsa refused to let go and give up as she continued to pull and struggle as she was dragged along into the darkness.
Watching from the side terrified Kristoff looked at the group. With a hand Elsa reached and called out "Kristoff, help us". Terrified Kristoff looked between her and the darkness of the creature before fear won and he left the room, wanting to escape the darkness and the monster that resided inside.
"Kristoff!" yelled Elsa as she watched the former ice harvester run away.
A final tug made her loose her footing, a scream escaped her lips as she was dragged into the darkness with Hans and Elsa.
To be continued...
Fun fact: There is a lot of symbolism in the story, here is some of past chapters.
Hans wounds: His lips sown shut and his limbs torn off symbolized the inaction he took to protect others, he did not stand up against his "family" to do the right thing because he was scared. At the same time the fact that his limbs are sown back on and he was able to cut off the string in his mouth symbolized change, he is now taking action.
The gray, misty, dark, stormy atmosphere/environment, its symbolic of the truth, neither Elsa or Hans know the truth, the not knowing and the doubts from both parties... and the fact that the truth is hidden or twisted from them is represented by the environment their in.
The bluish, misty environment: The scene where Elsa and Hans dance where everything is blue represents two things. In Elsas case is sadness as she knows the truth yet hides it to protect Hans, meanwhile the blue represents the hope Hans feels of being reunited with the one he loves.
Choice in constellations: Elsas choice of Ursa mayor represent strong familial bond and her longing to be reunited with Anna and her want to protect her, Hans choice of pegasus represents his desire to be a hero, his desire to be somebody worth while, to be worthy.
My choice of the truth mirror: Making the truth mirror was based on culture belief and Hans Christian Anderson. In original drafts and the original books the mirror was just called the mirror, it was many years later after his death that it was called the false mirror. I think he did it on purpose, for you see in a lot of cultures mirrors are seen to represent the truth, which is why mirrors show that vampires have no reflection, because they reveal what/who they truly are. Also like they say "People prefer to see a beautiful lie than the ugly truth", the truth is ugly and because of that the mirror made things ugly and such, because of that it distorted things and why it changed kai. Because of that I feel that the mirror is more showing the truth than making everything lie and false. (Also mirrors are seen as relics of power that can contain evil or spirits and sometimes are used as portals to another world or the spirit world)
Hans wears dark and gray color clothing through most of the story: The dark and gray clothing represents the unknown and neutrality, because Elsa does not know him or know whether to trust him or not. But after she got to know him she gave him an outfit with some color, mostly blue, but the color symbolizes that she now knows him and knows she can trust him.
Elsas outfit and hairstyle: As pretty as the second movie made Elsa, the last choice in outfit was well... not the best... its not historically accurate and its not practical... AT ALL! It leaves her way too pretty and vulnerable to live in the wild (Seriously I see her hair getting caught in branches and being pulled off of the Nokk and falling as they run through the woods) Also loose hair had a different symbolism back then than it did now.
Back then women with loose hair was used to represent women who lost it (women in asylums were seen and depicted with loose hair) or women who were... ahem... ladies of the night...while women who had their hair up were seen as in control, that they had a path in life and all the positive things in life.
So I used that in this story, her outfit represents her deconstruction and the truth, sometimes you have to break something in order to fix it. The truth is breaking Elsa down, her dress is practical but at the at the end is all tattered and dirty due to the hard work and the situations she was put in. Its showing her struggle. Her hair is put in a bun as its practical and it will prevent people and enemies from grabbing it and in turn harming her. But all in all she by the end is worn, dirty, tired and such. Not a pretty sight, but like they say the truth and the journey to the truth is never easy or pretty.
Now the symbolism of this chapter:
Elsas and Annas eyes are pink and when the spell is broken it shatters: This is a play on the old saying "Wearing rose colored glasses" the spell makes them see what they want, feel happy and live in a fantasy. Only when broken they will see the truth of how things truly are. (Also this is a little shout out to the original snow queen story where Kai has a shard in his eyes and is eventually removed)
All the mirrors and picture/painting frames in Elsas fantasy are crooked: This represents Elsas reality, what she is seeing, basically its her mind screaming at her that something is not right. As long as she was in that fantasy all the frames and mirrors will be crooked till she sees the reality.
The Nokk: In all stories the Nokk drowns its victims... in this chapter it will do that to Elsa, but in a different way. If Elsa got on the Nokk in her dream she would have "Drowned" in her subconsciousness, in her fantasy, thus leading to her death.
The chess game: Elsa move and eventual victory as she captured the king it actually represents what happened in reality even if she does not know it. The king represents Hans and he was caught/trapped.
The other Elsa: This other Elsa is her conscience. Its trying to get Elsa to do the right thing and see the truth.
There is a whole lot more but I will leave it at that for now. Hope you all enjoyed it. (Wink)
Authors note: Oh no... its too late! The end of the world is here!...
Any way hope you all enjoy this chapter, please review to let me know what you all think, but for now I bid you adue and will update the story as soon as possible. Take care.
