Love Changes Everything-Part 19:
Narcissa woke up the next morning and could feel the winter sun beating down on her bare back. It hit her as she realized where she was.
"We're getting married today," came a whisper that she knew so well now and a feather light kiss on her shoulder before she kissed Lucius softly just as the code word was spoken and Priscilla walked in.
"Sorry to break you two up but everyone else will be waking soon. Put this on and then hurry through the hidden door and I'll make sure you can get into bed before your mother arrives," she said softly and Narcissa kissed Lucius full of love again before she threw her underwear back on and then her nightgown and then hurried back into her room and got into bed and closed her eyes again. She was still tired so pretending to be asleep turned into falling asleep again.
The next thing Narcissa knew was Bellatrix shaking her awake and Delphi hitting her arm.
"What time is it?" Narcissa asked as she rubbed her eyes as she sat up.
"Time for you to be getting up and ready for your wedding day Narcissa Black soon-to-be Malfoy," Druella said watching as Narcissa hugged Delphi gently to her and stroked her hair.
"Are you ready to be the cutest flower girl ever Miss Delphi?" she asked her toddler niece who giggled before the breakfast was brought in by Priscilla and soon the women… and Delphi in her chair… were sat around the table and eating breakfast. Narcissa barely touched her fruit, too caught up in thinking about Lucius and that night when their parents would watch then consummate the marriage even though the Malfoys knew that the whole relationship had been consummated the night Narcissa had left Hogwarts.
"Narcissa do eat more. I don't want you fainting when you walk down the aisle," Druella said.
"Mother I'm fine," Narcissa said before forcing herself to eat more fruit, "it's just nerves. Honestly," she added more honey to her fruit and managed to finish it all before going to have a shower so she could then begin the process of getting ready for the wedding. Yes she was nervous and may well have been a tiny bit sick through the nerves but she wasn't about to let it show and she walked out in her dressing gown and sat down over by her dressing table and waited to see which mother would come over to her first. She felt like a doll with all the dressing up and bits and bobs that other would be doing on her that day.
She began to brush her hair before Druella made her way over and removed the brush from her daughter's hand.
"Make up first," Druella said and a sigh left Narcissa's rosy lips and she just sat there and allowed her mother to do her make up before Priscilla would do her hair. That had been a compromise to keep both mothers happy and calm or else who knew what could have happened. The mothers were certainly trying to maintain order whilst having private cat fights. Nobody would ever want to bare witness to a duel between Druella Black and Priscilla Malfoy even though that was the one thing everybody wanted to see. Cygnus and Abraxas wanted to see one but whether anyone else did was the big unanswered question.
Delphi giggled and tugged on Narcissa's robe and, when her mother was distracted by something, Narcissa picked Delphi up and told her to sit still and play with the toy in her hand.
"No. No way. The child will not sit still," Druella said.
"Give her a chance mother. That's a texture book and she sits for hours with them," Bellatrix said, "trust me on that one mother." Druella sighed and nodded knowing that she wasn't going to win and just carried on doing Narcissa's make up until she was happy with it before handing control over to Priscilla.
"Just how we discussed it?" she questioned as she looked at Narcissa in the mirror.
The bride nodded her headed and Priscilla soon got to work on Narcissa's hair and spoke to her softly ignoring the look of evil coming from Druella. Oh yes. There was no love lost between the two and everyone knew really that Andromeda should have been marrying Lucius but here was Narcissa, saving the Black Family from disgrace and giving the Malfoys a higher status. The 17-year-old sighed softly as she watched her mother and sister before realising that her hair was done.
"Would you like Lady Malfoy to do your hair too Miss Delphi?" Narcissa asked her niece and the toddler clapped her hands and nodded. Narcissa smiled as Delphi was scooped into her soon-to-be mother-in-law's arms and she headed over to her mother and dropped her robe and began to go through the monotonous chore of having her corset placed around her snow white slender frame. She just stood there before feeling the usual sensation of her lungs being crushed into a tiny amount of space, shortening her breaths. She hated the corset and would certainly try her best to get away without wearing one.
She put the robe back on once the corset was in place and headed over to see what Delphi's hair looked like.
"Perfect," Narcissa said before Bellatrix began to get Delphi changed into her dress. Narcissa was waiting until the last moment to put her dress on. It was a Malfoy tradition and that is the way it was going to stay.
Priscilla and Druella were over in the corner and just watching the scene.
"Do you wish your daughter was alive to see this day?" Druella asked.
"I do but it makes today even more special that we have Narcissa and she will be like a daughter to me now," Priscilla said, "that's why it meant so much to me that she wore the Malfoy wedding dress as this could be the last time it's worn."
"Now I understand," Druella said as she looked at the Malfoy matriarch, "if you'd have just told me that in the first place then we wouldn't have needed to argue about it."
Priscilla sighed. Her lost daughter wasn't something she wanted to talk about and especially today when the focus was on Lucius and Narcissa and the union of the families. She wondered if Andromeda might try and come in disguise but even she wouldn't be that stupid but then she did love her sister.
Narcissa looked out of the window overlooking the gardens and could see the guests arriving for the wedding. She caught sight of Lucius greeting the guests and wished she was there with him as he was truly the only one who could calm her down but they were now unable to be together because of how close it was to the wedding.
"Is it time yet?" she asked as he looked at her mother. She just wanted to be reunited with Lucius and joined in marriage with him now at the same time.
"Sorry. Not quite yet Narcissa," Druella said as she looked at her daughter, "and please try and keep that lust in until tonight. It's quite unattractive."
The next thing anyone knew was Narcissa locking herself in the en-suite and a growl of frustration could be heard.
"Druella just go and hurry things up. You're not helping Narcissa," Priscilla said and the Black mother gave a death stare before heading out of the room and away from it.
Priscilla managed to coax Narcissa out of the bathroom and began to get her ready for the wedding.
"Your mother is…"
"Unbearable," Bellatrix said, "and so controlling. She always has been when it comes to Narcissa," she said before getting Delphi to her feet as Narcissa slipped her shoes on and then the vail was placed on her head.
"Are you ready Narcissa?" Priscilla and the young bride nodded before her soon-to-be mother-in-law led her towards the stairs where Lucius was waiting her for. Her life as a Malfoy was about to begin.
