Knight's Endgame: Part 2

Location: KITT Cave

"Michael, it looks as though KARR is out of commission," KI2T informed him.

"He may be down, but he's not out," Bonnie called out.

"What's the status?" Michael asked, standing behind her. He watched as her hands flew over the keyboard.

"Wil and I created a new backdoor link for each of the AI's. So now, I'm trying to establish the link to try to give KARR a jump-start," she told him without taking her eyes off the computer screen.

"I'm going down there," Mike stated firmly.

"I'm going with you," Sarah told him.

"No one is going anywhere," KI3T stated matter-of-factly.

"Why is that?" Mike asked his AI.

"There is a caravan of four military assault vehicles heading this way. Each vehicle is carrying four heavily armed men," KI3T told them. "Their ETA is one hour, twenty-two minutes."

"Damn!" Michael hissed under his breath. Bonnie looked at him questioningly. "Garthe didn't figure on just Wil and KARR coming. He was planning on all three vehicles with each of their drivers!" He paused a moment. Shaking his head, he continued, "Somehow Wil figured it out. That's why he told us to stay here. Somehow he knew."

"What do we do about Wil and KARR?" Zoe asked worriedly.

"Well, we can't leave the Mansion unprotected," KI2T interjected. "Wil knew what he was doing when he left with KARR. He said he needed to buy us time to prepare."

"KI2T's not wrong," Michael told them. "We have to defend the mansion. Billy, Zoe, April and Bonnie, I want you four in the semi at all times. Do not leave it for any circumstance."

"We should actually head for Wil and KARR," Bonnie countered. "I can use their help."

"I'll be safe with you and KI3T," Sarah told Mike. "And no, I'm not changing my mind."

"I wasn't going to argue," Mike told her.

"KI2T and I will be at the front gate to help you 'welcome' our guests," his dad told him. Turning to his wife he said, "What can you do to help beef up both KITT's from any type of EMP weapons?"

"Wil had KARR transmit a file to me. I think it has something we can use," she told him. She typed a few keys on the keyboard and a file appeared. Opening it, she discovered two separate files. "Wow! There's a file marked EMP Disruptor and another one marked EMP Shield." She double clicked on the second folder, opening it up. A blueprint filled the screen with a diagram and notes. After a minute of looking it over, Bonnie turned to Michael. "This will help solve our problem."

"But…" Michael asked knowingly.

"I'll need specialized help," she said looking over at Sarah.

"What! Why me?" Sarah asked surprised.

"Because you have the technical know how from working with your dad," Bonnie told her softly. Turning, she motioned to April and Zoe. "I'll need your help as well."

"What about me?" Billy asked.

"I'll need your help too," Bonnie smiled. "You and April will come with me in the semi. Sarah, Zoe I'll need you to stay here and work on it from these computers."

"Why can't you take everyone in the semi with you?" Mike asked.

"Because there's not enough workstations for everyone," Sarah spoke up. "Something we'll have to look at for a future upgrade," she said looking at Bonnie.

"Okay," Michael said, "Now that we have that settled, we need to get the staff out of the Mansion."

The phone rang on the wall. April answered it. "Hello?" She paused. "Yes, he's right here, hold on." Turning, she said, "Michael it's for you."

"Who is it," he asked coming over.

"Mark Chambers, head of security at Knight Industries," she told him quietly, handing the phone to him.

"Hey Mark, is everything okay?" Michael asked. Listening, he nodded his head. "Okay, that's great Mark. Keep me informed. I don't think that Garthe is going to hit the offices or labs. He's targeting the mansion first." Michael paused. "No, Wil has some reinforcements on the way. Yeah, yeah, okay, thanks. I'll talk to you later." Michael hung the phone up.

"What was that about?" Mike asked.

"That was Mark. Every non-essential employee has been evacuated. They're locked up tight and have some extra security from the army," he told them.

"Military support? But how Michael?" Bonnie questioned him.

"Wil," he replied. "He told me he made some calls to D.C. before he left to head Garthe off."

"Who does Wil know in D.C.?" Zoe asked, perplexed.

"I don't know, but obviously it's high up the chain of command," Michael stated.

"I have everyone leaving the mansion," Billy informed him.

"Okay, good. Now we need to get ourselves into position. Which means you need to get out of here," he said to Bonnie. She gave him a kiss and smiled.

"The semi is ready. Be careful," she told him. She waved Billy and April to the back door and out to the waiting semi. Turning, she told them all one more thing, "Just so you know, this building has been reinforced. The windows can withstand a category five hurricane and Wil had the doors all coated with the MBS formula." She looked at Sarah and Zoe, giving them a nod before climbing into the semi.

Mike walked over to where Sarah and Zoe were seated at the terminals. "You'll be safe here then, thankfully."

"We will," Zoe told him playfully. He laughed.

"Sorry Zoe. I meant it for both of you," he told her. Turning, he looked at Sarah. She saw the concern in his eyes.

"I'll be okay," she told him quietly. "Go keep us safe." She stood and gave him a hug, with a kiss on his cheek. He smiled as she released him. He patted Zoe on her head and headed to KI3T.

"Ladies," Michael said, "you know how to reach us." Walking towards the door, he stopped and turned back to them. "And good luck."

Getting into KI2T, he told the AI, "I hope they can get the Shields in place before our guests arrive."

"So do I," KI2T responded. "Michael?"

"Yeah buddy?"

"Will KARR and Wil be alright?"

"Is that concern I hear in your voice modulator?" Michael teased.

"I am being serious Michael."

"I know. I hope so, but I can't promise anything," he replied soberly.

"Well then, let's get into position at the front gate."

"You took the words right out of my mouth KI2T," Michael told him. Starting the car, he headed for the front of the property.
