Hinata gave him a look, "N-naruto-kun you c-can't ask me to-"

"Please Hina, I'm also breaking my friends' trust by telling you this-"

"B-but S-Sakura-chan needs to know!"

Naruto nodded, "And she will know." he assured, "The teme was planning on telling her."

"Really?"

"Yeah, he was going to do it before asking her out officially." He revealed, "So please don't tell her anything before he does."

Hinata nodded reluctantly.

"Forehead what's wrong?" the blonde asked as she moved from her bed to her friend's.

Sakura had entered the room looking a bit frazzled and at first Ino had only looked up from her phone, but after she didn't get a response from Sakura when she greeted her, she stood up.

"H-he's going to hate me..." was all Sakura whispered.

Ino shook her head in disagreement, "Sak, Sasuke will understand, you just have to open up to him and let him know how things happened."

"Ino you don't understand, sh-she's going to tell him and he won't- he's not going to believe me!"

"What are you talking about? Who's going to tell him?"

Sakura finally looked up. Her eyes were swollen and red. From what Ino could tell, she had been crying for a while and she had never seen someone so broken. It didn't take a genius to see how much this was affecting her.

"Karin."

Ino's expression changed from confusion to complete horror in just a matter of seconds, "Shit. I swear I didn't tell her, Sak-"

Sakura cut her off, "I know, she admitted she was eavesdropping on our conversation."

"You have to be the first to tell him, knowing Karin she'll change the story just to get Sasuke back."

Sakura felt her heart banging against her chest. She knew she would have to tell him eventually, but the thought of him looking at her in pure disgust was something she dreaded thinking about.

"I-I know Ino, but she said if I try to stop her it'll only get worse-"

"Trust me, its not going to get worst than Karin changing the story at her convenience," she retorted before sighing, "I'll talk to her, we're still on somewhat good terms."

"D-do you think she'll listen to you?"

Ino narrowed her eyes, knowing fully well how to shut the red-head up, "She will if she knows what's good for her."

Obito smiled up at his nephew as he entered his office with Matsuri, "Sasuke, I see you enjoyed lunch?"

Sasuke nodded, "Thank you for that Uchiha-sama."

How weird was it to call someone that for the first time? Madara and him were on first name basis because he didn't like the honorific and he didn't call his father by his name.

Obito frowned at his nephew, "No need for formalities, boy. Unless you want to call me Obito-oji," he laughed.

"Obito-oji?" He unconsciously repeated.

Obito shrugged, "Why the hell not? Fugaku is not here to scold you, is he?"

Sasuke smirked, He wasn't.

Hinata heard everything Naruto had to say about his pair of friends, she couldn't believe that all this time Sakura was objectified that way.

Was she wrong about Sasuke and Gaara all along? Had she misjudged them and encouraged her friend so wrongly?

She turned to her long-time crush, the boy she thought she loved, was he just like them too? He had gone along with their little game and hadn't said anything either until now.

"Hinata-chan, please say something." Naruto pleaded, reaching out to hold her hands in his.

Hinata turned to face him, "I-I'm sorry Naruto-kun, it's a-all too much t-to process." She said pulling her hands away from his, "I-I have t-to go."

He felt the warmth leave his hands and he understood. She didn't want to be near him, not after what she learned about the people he called friends. The hurt was evident throughout his face and he knew she was disgusted by his involvement.

Hinata almost felt guilty after seeing his expression, but she couldn't keep this from Sakura.

Sakura, she thought in horror, How would she react if she knew Sasuke and Gaara... she couldn't even begin to fathom how heartbroken she would be after this.

"I'm sorry Hinata-chan, I knew how much this would affect you, I should've kept quiet."

She shook her head softly, "I p-pushed you to tell me," she decided to be the one to reach out for his hands this time, "Th-thank you for telling me, b-but I don't know if I can face Sakura-chan and k-keep quiet."

Naruto nodded, "I understand, but like I said, Sasuke was planning on telling her-"

"When, Naruto-kun?" she cut him off harshly.

This took him by surprise, she had never been one to cut someone off or be aggressive, "I-I don't know Hinata-chan, he told me recently he didn't like lying to her this way."

Hinata frowned softly, What kind of friend am I if I stay quiet? I'd be no better than them.

Ino knew the red-head would be there. After all, with the eagerness to get to Sasuke before the pinkette could, why wouldn't she be on the first row to see him: the lobby.

"Karin." She called out.

The red-head turned to Ino and rolled her eyes knowingly, "She sent you, didn't she?"

The blonde sighed, "What do you think you're doing?"

Karin frowned, "You can't actually expect me to sit there and watch as she plays with both of them right?" she snapped.

Ino raised her eyebrows at her friend, "You're one to talk," the blonde began, "Leading Sui on when you had no intentions of breaking up with Sasuke, was it?"

Karin glared daggers at the blonde, "I told you that in confidence!"

"Exactly, so who am I to tell Sasuke?" She questioned back.

Karin huffed, "This is different, Sasuke-kun doesn't deserve this!"

"Maybe not, but he certainly doesn't deserve you to tell him the situation either."

"I heard you both, and it's disgusting what you're doing to your own friend Ino."

"If you really care about Sasuke as much as you claim to, you'll give Sakura the chance to explain herself to him first."

Karin had to laugh at that, "Please and have her make up some bullshit story, I'd rather not."

"Oh?" Ino asked mockingly, raising her perfectly plucked eyebrow, "Let's not play the saint card right now, if I were to have opened my mouth all those times you told Sasuke 'some bullshit story', you two wouldn't have lasted as long as you did, remember that."

Karin clenched her fists, "So you think it's okay for her to walk all over Sasuke the way she's doing right now?"

"So it was only ok when you did?" she shot back. Of course, Ino didn't think either of them ever walked over Sasuke, but she was simply trying to make a point, "Listen, Sakura made some wrong decisions and I think it's only fair to have her explain them to him, it's not your place just like it wasn't mine, but if you open your mouth, I won't hesitate to tell Sasuke all the shady shit you did behind his back."

"Is Pinky really going to tell him or is that just another of her lies?"

Ino sighed again, "She has all the intention of clearing things up with him, so until then, please don't say anything."

Karin nodded, "Fine, but if I find out she kept quiet, I'll be the one that doesn't hesitate to tell Sasuke all the shady shit she's been doing behind his back."

Sasuke had finished up he data analysis his uncle had assigned him to do and he couldn't help but be a bit impressed by the amount of success Obito was having with his small start-up.

"Surprised I'm able to produce these numbers without the Uchiha patrimony?" Obito inquired as if he had just read his mind.

Sasuke looked at him in awe, not being able to produce a coherent thought.

"All it takes is a dream and a backbone," he said patting his shoulder, "Any thoughts about what you want to do in the future?"

Sasuke shrugged, "Ever since Itachi declined the Uchiha patrimony, father has been set on having me continue with the family business."

"Ah," Obito looked a bit disappointed, "I suppose that means there's no room for discussion?"

No, there isn't. Sasuke wanted to retort, but he didn't want to say it because it would become even more real.

"Take it from me, there's nothing wrong with wanting something different. Sure I lost my family, but there are things that matter more in life than that, especially if they have no issue tearing you down for their own success. Or tell me Sasuke, does the great Fugaku Uchiha take your thoughts into consideration? Does he care enough to hear them?"

Sasuke's gaze intensified, He doesn't.

"I just want you to be aware that there's more to life than Uchiha this Uchiha that, life shouldn't be so stagnant."

"I can't exactly do much, can I? Not when Itachi has already left me to deal with this on my own."

Sasuke was his father's last resort. If not him, then who would continue the family business? Even if he wanted to do something else, his father wouldn't have any of it.

It left a bitter taste in his mouth, knowing that the only reason his father had him so well controlled was because according to him, he had given Itachi too much freedom and that's why he left. Not to mention the only reason he was in this situation was because Itachi had given up the patrimony and not because he was chosen to take on that responsibility.

He was chosen by default. Second in line, never first. He always fell short when it came to his brother.

"Sasuke, sibling rivalry is understandable when you have brothers like I did, don't blame Itachi for deciding to follow his heart."

His heart, Sasuke scoffed, clearly he doesn't have one if he didn't think twice about leaving him at the claws of their father.

"You're still young, younger than I was when I decided to leave," He thought with a smile, "I was the younger one, so nobody missed me, but I understand how you feel, I would've flipped out if Fugaku hadn't been there to take the responsibility that is the Uchiha patrimony." he sighed, "It's a blessing and a curse."

Sakura was growing nervous, was she really about to ruin her relationship with Sasuke?

No, I already did that, she thought.

Gosh, how would she even start, "Hey Sasuke I didn't get close to you because I liked you, in fact I didn't even like you at the time."

She wanted to pull out her hair, Itachi was right, she shouldn't have gotten involved. None of this would be happening if she had just kept her feelings at bay.

All Sasuke asked of her was her company and her honesty. But the truth was that she couldn't even deliver that.

The truth was that she was dishonest. With him, with herself when she denied having feelings for him.

Deep inside she really hoped that Itachi was right and that it wasn't a big deal. She hoped Sasuke didn't take it as badly as she expected. She could only hope.

Ino walked through their door with a look of relief, "She's not going to open her mouth."

Sakura's eyes widened, "Really?"

Ino smirked triumphantly, "There's nothing I can't do, Forehead."

"Thank you, Ino-pig," Sakura sighed, hugging her friend.

Ino also embraced her tightly, "Of course."

"Sasuke, your analysis is..."

"Did I miss something? I apologize, I-"

Obito waved a hand as if to silence him,"...impeccable, how did you manage to do that in just an hour?" His uncle asked incredulously.

Sasuke hadn't found anything particularly praise-worthy in his work, his father would say it was average at best.

"Really?" he asked, a bit taken aback with his compliment.

"Yes, it takes my employees at least a week to turn in something so clean."

Sasuke furrowed his eyebrows, surely he was kidding.

"Either you're a genius, which really wouldn't be that big of a surprise, you're an Uchiha," he said, pride slightly lacing his words, "Or I really have to hire new employees." He joked.

Sasuke nodded, he wasn't used to being complimented this way, it was a foreign feeling. Was that his professional confidence boosting?

"Jokes aside, Sasuke, if you ever get tired of my brother, don't hesitate to contact me for a job," He started, "Or even if its for advice on how to start-up a business, I need to invest my money on people I believe in before they blow up."

Sasuke gave a low chuckle, his uncle was really giving him too much credit for a simple analysis.

"I'll think about it."

It was Obito's turn to chuckle, he reminded him of himself, but there was obviously still some of Fugaku's influence on the kid, "Get back to work." He said before leaving his cubicle.

Right when he left, Matsuri quickly rushed next to him, "Sasuke-kun, you should know Obito-san doesn't give compliments that easily to anyone."

Sasuke had the urge to roll his eyes, "And he shouldn't, my work was anything but praise-worthy."

She placed her hand on his shoulder, squeezing it lightly, "Don't be so hard on yourself, Sasuke-kun."

Sasuke glared at her arm, she shouldn't be touching him like that.

Thankfully she got the hint and released him with a nervous giggle, "I-I should get back to work."

Sasuke nodded, Yeah you should. he thought, So annoying. H added as an afterthought.

"Do you want the room to yourselves? I can arrange with the girls if you want," Ino offered.

Sakura nodded, she would rather have that conversation in a private space where they wouldn't be bothered.

She looked down nervously at the text she had written

To: Sasuke

Can we talk once you come back?

Ino looked over her shoulder, "Don't overthink it, it's simple and straight to the point, you two will have time to talk about the details once he gets here."

Sakura nodded, sending the text quickly before she could have any second doubts.

It hadn't even been a minute before he replied.

From: Sasuke

Sure, I'm heading back right now, is something wrong?

Yes, she wanted to reply, but all she could type was

Nothing, I just miss you

He surprised her when he called her right after sending the text.

"Yeah?" she answered.

"So you miss me, hm?" She could hear the smirk on his lips, he was teasing her.

Oh, how she would miss that.

"Yeah I do," she admitted.

"Hn, where are we meeting?"

"My room," She answered a bit too quickly, Damn it Sakura, she thought to herself, she was a bit too jumpy today.

"Hm, any particular reason why we're meeting behind closed doors?" He teased, she knew what he was suggesting. Especially after what they had been doing the last time they saw each other.

She blushed, "N-nope! I-I'll see you in a bit."

"Can't wait."

Sakura hung up, her heart racing. Would she really be able to tell him?

After ending the call with the pinkette, Sasuke had to suppress the smile creeping onto his face. He couldn't help but feel eager to have his arms around her again, was this how it felt to be 'whipped'?

The dobe had joked about Sakura having him wrapped around her finger, but he had always brushed him off, thinking it wasn't that deep.

Were those butterflies fluttering in his stomach?

Of course not, he thought in denial, but the smile only seemed to become harder to suppress.

His phone buzzed, and he quickly looked at it, maybe Sakura forgot to tell him something.
