Arriving back to the survivor camp the Destiny trio is spared no time before being questioned by their friends and allies. Hesitant to tell everyone about the imminent doom, our heroes decide to truncate that aspect of the story. Donald, Goofy and the remaining foretellers remain quite on the matter, putting on a façade of normalcy as they lead everyone else to get ready for the battle to come.
The chapter then commits itself to following the reunited cast dealing with recent events (Such as Roxas grieving over Hayner and Ventus' reunion with Vanitas on neutral ground). The final event of note involves Sora and Xigbar.
After receiving a temporary body from Ansem and Even, Sora wanders the encampment in a daze. Knowing that he just doomed the universe the boy is lost in regret, and feels as if everyone really would have been better off if he never existed in the first place. These dark thoughts attract Luxu like a moth to a flame, and the eternal vagabond intercepts Sora as he passes a secluded section of the camp. Sora, knowing nothing of recent events involving Xigbar's return, mistakes the body hopper for maleficent and tries to attack them. However with no small effort the sniper calms the boy down for a chat.
Ever the master of tact Luxu starts the conversation by drawing attention to Sora "messing the collective bed". Too drained to be offended, Sora only nods numbly in response. Seeing that they can't get a rise out of him, Luxu smirks and explains that this isn't the first time this sort of thing has happened. In fact, the Master of Masters and Luxu had nearly erased the universe at least a dozen times throughout their journeys.
At first Sora doesn't believe Luxu about traveling with his older self. To convince the morose teen otherwise he pulls out the old and beaten gummi-phone. Shocked, the keyblade hero wastes no time in grabbing the device and opening it. The screen flares to life with a picture of his older self standing with a group of young, mask-less, foretellers. Eldest amongst the students was Luxu, who although wore a different body, held the same yellow eyes as before. What stuck out most to Sora however was the heartfelt grin on his other self's face, for it bore a brilliance he thought already lost to himself.
Taking this opportunity Luxu begins to tell the boy about how they first met. Long before the world-line that gave birth to the age of fairy tales was a world called Midgard. He was born not long before its end, bearing what his people regarded as a curse from the goddess Hela. It made it so that his spirit would never rest, poisoning those around him with the darkness of the underworld. And for that reason he was banished from his village, and spent the rest of his life in that world as an outcast.
It was during fimbulwinter, the last three years of ice before ragnarok that he met Sora. Life was becoming increasingly scarce in those days, yet the keyblade master was passing along like there wasn't a care in the world. At first Luxu tried to ignore the seemingly mad traveler, but the man approached him instead (just to stir up a conversation about the weather no less).
Sora's magnetic personality wormed its way to his heart almost immediately. What started as a brief chat spun into an hour, and after returning the next day, it escalated to two. For weeks the pair grew more and more familiar with one another, and Luxu eventually felt comfortable enough to tell the man about his affliction. The Master of Masters was unfazed by this confession however, and in turn revealed his own darkness, the lingering rage, that continued to fester from the core of his being. And from that day onward the pair traveled together, always one step ahead of oblivion.
With the story concluded Sora was speechless. Amused by this change in their eternal dynamic the body hopper pats the boy on the back.
"If I've learned anything from you, it's to roll with the punches" Luxu explains with rare affection. "Sure, things look bad right now, but as if that's stopped you before. Just stick to that conviction of yours, and the world will adapt with you".
The sniper then hands the hero a piece of paper bearing a circle of runes, telling him to use it on the tree to open the way to Yen Sid. Encouraged by this Sora thanks his former enemy and heads off to collect Riku and Kairi. Together the trio departs to recover Sora's body, while everyone else gathers for the last stand before the end.
