Draco x Hermione
Chapter 19: Epilogue
(Hermione's POV)
Dear Dairy,
Draco and I have been married for 10 years and have never been happier. The triplets ended up being all boys which great pleased both of our parents. In their eyes that meant that they would have a large family with having two boys and one girl. Two looked identical to their father right down to the eyes, the little girl looked just like me. Two years after they were born, I discovered that I was pregnant again, and to everyone's surprise I was having Triplets.
The pregnancy started out rough and Draco was constantly worrying about me, I was the first Lady Malfoy to have to triplets let alone to sets. About 4 months in we discovered that I was having 2 girls and 1 boy, and his parents were yet again excited and happy. The more the better is what his father had said, but Draco and I were warned that another pregnancy could lead to complications and we were advised not to have any more children after that. The two girls turned out to look just like their father right down to the eyes and the boy look just like me with his brown eyes and hair.
It wasn't so bad having 3 boys and 3 girls. Harry and Ginny had 8 kids, 4 sets of twins back to back all with their mothers bright red hair and father sea blue eyes. Ron really wasn't much better either he 10 kids, 3 sets of twins and the rest were born a year apart. Like the Weasley common trait they all had red hair and blue eyes.
Draco followed in his dads' footsteps and had a high-ranking job in the ministry and so did Harry and Ron which allowed them to afford a good lifestyle. I worked for the ministry, but I also wrote books on the side and that was my favorite thing to do. The kids were 6-8 when I discovered I was pregnant with twins. Draco was scared at first, he was worried something would happen to me and he said he couldn't live without me. The twins were both boys and the pregnancy were breeze compared to the triplets. Draco was thrilled that I was okay after the babies, but we had my tubes burned so I couldn't have any more kids, but still be with Draco.

Flashback
"Well if it isn't Malfoy and his crew." I said and looked up to see Malfoy. How he got in our compartment unnoticed I'll never know. Over the summer it seemed that he had changed and somehow seemed more mature and if I dare say handsome, but I would keep those thoughts to myself.
"Always pleasant seeing you as well Granger." Malfoy sneered, but also looked serious.
"What do you want Malfoy?" I asked, ready for him to be gone already. It wasn't like he needed me for anything.
"Well as you know I am head boy." He said with a proud grin on his face.
"Don't remind me." I said with a sense of dread, that would mean that we would be sharing a common room.
"Well my duty is to inform you that Headmistress McGonagall would like to see the two of us after we have eaten, and the sorting is complete." He said reminding me of my duties that I needed to do this year.
"Why did she send a messenger boy. She could have just sent an owl." I snorted, and a small grin came to my face.
"I am just delivering the message. I don't need to answer your questions" Malfoy said and left our compartment without another word.
"What is up with him?" Lavender asked as she walked into the compartment and sat down next to Ron and kissed him.
"He is head boy, so he thinks he owns the place." I said and turned to look at the window. It still pained me to be near Ron and Lavender while they kissed.
"That's normal for Draco." Harry said, as Ginny walked in our compartment.
It was getting crowded in here, but it wouldn't be long until we arrived at Hogwarts. A lot has happened since the war and a lot has changed. Families were reunited, but many friends and loved ones were lost. Not even my parents remember me, and they never would. I felt a tinge of guilt, because they were my parents and took care of me. I knew that I was adopted, but it didn't make things any better. I felt the train jerk to a halt and looked up to see we were at Hogwarts. Must have been lost in thought for little while. That happened to me a lot anymore, I couldn't seem to focus on the more important things, only the past.
"Hermione we are here." Harry said gently laying his hand on my shoulder to get my attention.
"I can see that." I replied with somewhat of a sarcastic smirk.
"Just wanted to make sure that is all." Harry smiled and walked out with Ginny, leaving me to walk alone.
I stood up and walked out of the compartment and walked right into someone. I fell to the floor with a thud and hit my head on the wall. I looked up to see Malfoy staring down at me with a grin on his face. What was he doing here, again? Can he not just leave me alone and let me live in peace?
"What are you doing here Malfoy, again?" I asked as I stood up and brushed myself off and fixed my hair.
"Just a friendly reminder that we have a meeting with Headmistress McGonagall." Malfoy leered.
"I didn't forget." I grumbled.
"That's good to know." He sneered.
"I am leaving, I don't have anything more to say to you." I growled.
"I thought I would walk you to the great hall." He said.
"What are you up to Malfoy?" I sneered.
"I am not up to anything. Just doing what I am told." Malfoy replied.
"I can walk myself." I growled and shoved passed him.
Malfoy grabbed my arm and pulled me back to him and flush against his chest. I looked up at him and he had a grin on his face and his lips were mere inches from mine. I tried jerking free, but he only pulled me closer to him, making our lips nearly touch. What was his deal.
"Where do you think you are going?" Malfoy asked in a husky voice.
"I am going to the great hall." I replied.
"Like I said, I am walking you to the great hall." He whispered, only a breath away from kissing me.
"I don't need an escort." I huffed.
"I wasn't asking, and you don't have a choice." Malfoy said.
Malfoy let go me briefly only to link his arm with mine. Malfoy began walking forcibly making me walk beside him. He helped me off the train and into a private carriage. He even pretended that this was a sweet moment. I really did hate him.
"I hate you Malfoy." I grumbled.
"The feeling is mutual trust me." He replied but had a strange tone in his voice.
"I don't understand why you need to escort me to the great hall." I stated.
"Like I said I am just following orders. We will sit up front with McGonagall." Malfoy said. Yay, just what I wanted all eyes on me.
I knew that heads were now required to sit up front with the teachers to ensure everyone knew who the heads were and to demonstrate the authority they held. We walked arm in arm to the great hall. I watched as my friends stared in shock at us, but quickly started glaring at Malfoy. Pansy's eyes were burning with rage. I jerked my eyes from her eyes and looked forward. We made our way up to the table and my mind began racing. What could McGonagall want? We took our seats to next to Headmistress McGonagall and she stood to give her announcements.
"Welcome back to another year of Hogwarts. I would like to welcome all the first years." She said kindly.
I watched as the new first years walked in single file to the front to be sorted into their houses. They were all about evenly divided out. There were some more kids sent to Gryffindor then Slytherin, but not terrible. McGonagall stood once more to give a few more announcements.
"First off I would like to welcome all the first years to Hogwarts. I would also like to welcome all returning students." McGonagall said and all students cheered.
"First off the third-floor corridor, as always, is off limits. The dark forest is off limits as well." McGonagall said.
"Any student caught out after hours will cause their house to lose points. If you are caught in an area that is marked off limits, you house will lose points. Quidditch, team playing, and class participation earns you points. That will be all, please enjoy." McGonagall said and took her seat and began to eat her food.
I quickly ate my food eager to leave the room and get our meeting over with. Draco unfortunately was taking his sweet time about it. From the way that he was acting, I could tell that he knew what was going on. I watched as students left one by one following the older students. I watched as one by one all the teachers left including McGonagall. I was now alone with Malfoy.
"Are you done eating?" I asked.
"Yeah I'm done. We need to get to McGonagall's office before she has a fit." Malfoy said.
"I figured that much." I said.
"Let's go." He said gruffly.
I stood from my seat and followed Malfoy out of the great hall. He didn't try to link arms with me this time, and I was thankful for that. I honestly did not like being that close to him, it was just plain creepy. It wasn't long till we arrived at Headmistresses McGonagall's office. I sat down in front of her, and so did Malfoy.
"How are you this evening Mrs. Granger and Mr. Malfoy?" Professor McGonagall asked with a kind smile.
"We are doing well. Thank you for asking." Malfoy replied, not giving me a chance to respond on my own.
"We are here to discuss an important matter." McGonagall said.
"What is so important?" I huffed
"As you know the ministry has set in place a marriage law. All available wizards and witches were informed of who they will be marrying. Except the two of you." Professor McGonagall said. My heart sank at that moment and I became sick to my stomach and my world became dizzy.
"Why were we not informed when the others were?" Malfoy asked taking the words right out of my mouth.
"The ministry wanted me to tell you in person because there was some news about Mrs. Granger that has come to their attention." Professor McGonagall said.
"What kind of news?" I asked finally managing to speak.
"While the ministry was going thorough old files belonging to the Malfoy family, during the investigation of their family, they came across rather interesting news." She said.
"What kind of news?" Malfoy asked.
"I am sure that you are aware of the Max family?" McGonagall asked.
"Yes of course I am. They are one of the purest families out there and one of the richest as well. They are also known to be the brightest witches and wizards around." Malfoy replied.
"But only two remain and they have no children, so their bloodline has been doomed to die out." I said, trying to make since of why she brought this up.
"My reason for bringing this up is simple. It was discovered that Joseph and Elena Max did in fact have a daughter that they sent to the muggle world to hide her from Voldemort." Professor McGonagall said.
"I am lost at what this has to do with Granger?" Malfoy asked.
"Hermione is their daughter. The ministry tracked down the adoption records of their daughter and it led them to the Grangers." Professor McGonagall said.
I choked on the air and Malfoy patted my back. I learned 1 year ago, before obliviating my parents, that I had in fact been adopted. I couldn't breathe. I had just learned that I was adopted. I couldn't breathe, and I had just learned that I was a pureblood. Professor McGonagall was saying something, but all I could do was nod my head. I watched as she performed a spell to test my status and next thing, I knew she was congratulating me.
"Congratulations Miss. Max." Professor McGonagall said, in comforting tone.
"Thanks." I managed to choke out.
"Now on to the marriage law. Miss. Max you and Draco are to be wed 2 weeks from this date." Professor McGonagall said with a sympathetic voice.
"What, you expect me to marry Malfoy?" I asked in a fuming voice, I willed myself to remain somewhat calm.
"Yes, the ministry does. You will marry him and try to make some form of happiness in your life. I don't want to sound harsh, but want you have to understand that breaking the law will result in being sent to Azkaban, and I don't want to see that happen. I know that the two of you haven't always seen eye to eye, but Draco has changed and maybe you should take this time to get to know him. " She said in a kind voice.
"I am not marrying that thing." I huffed.
"I am not a thing Miss. Max. I do have a name and it's Draco." Malfoy said in a sarcastic tone.
"Hermione, Draco will make a good husband in time. You both need to work on your tempers, but things will be okay. Your parents, as you know, are still alive and wish to meet with you and your future husband this weekend. I am sorry you found out this way, and I wish that it could have been under better circumstances, but I am sorry to say that your marriage was planned long ago. Draco you will help prepare Hermione for this meeting." She said.
"My real parents?" I asked shocked.
"Yes, and you will need to act like a pureblood that is why Draco will help you. I will do what I can to help your transition into this life easier. You can come to me should you ever have any concerns or need help. Draco your parents will also be at this meeting." Headmistress McGonagall said.
"Oh, boy. This won't turn out good. My dad is not fond of Miss. Max." Malfoy said.
"Not fond of your father either, so the feeling is mutual. Please stop calling Miss. Max." I grumbled.
"Then what would you like for me to call you then?" Malfoy asked.
"Call me Hermione, it's the obvious answer to your question." I replied.
"Fine, Hermione, but I request that you also call me Draco." Malfoy said.
"I will do my best Draco." I said, trying out his name and strangely it sounded normal coming from me.
"You are both heads so you will share a tower and make some attempt to get along. I know that me being somewhat harsh is making this harder, but you two need to get along at all cost or at least show that you can live in the same home without destroying everything by fighting." Headmistress McGonagall said.
"I am not sure that sharing a tower would be wise." I said.
"Hermione that's enough. You are a pureblood and as such you need to behave like one." Malfoy said.
"You dare to try and tell me what to do Draco." I snarled.
"You will do as you are told and address me as Draco or Malfoy, you do not speak to me in such a manner." Draco growled.
"You can't talk to me like that. I am not like other purebloods; I was raised by muggles and because of that I actually have a heart." I yelled.
"Not to be harsh, but clearly you have no idea how to behave like a pureblood." Malfoy said.
"I refuse to marry you." I yelled before storming off.
I was not going to cry in front of Draco and give him the satisfaction. Draco was a cold-hearted jerk and he never once cared about anyone but himself. I honestly can't understand what the ministry was thinking when they ordered us to be married. I looked up momentarily to see I had stormed off to the gardens that Hogwarts had. I knew that no one would look for me here, and so I let the tears flow. I understand that Draco has little time to teach me, but he could at least try to ease me into things instead of forcing it.
End Flashback
How things had changed and honestly, I wouldn't give up anything I had for the world. Yes, my family has dark history, but the love of my life Draco accepted me for who I am and that is more than I could have ever asked for in life.
