Lex didn't waste time getting down to business. Then again he had the "wicked stepmother" helping him too. He put out EOs and had congress working full tilt on getting superhero activity banned altogether. Limitations would only be given to those that worked with the Luthor administration and the government in general. Calls were put out for all of the superhero community to register with the government or face criminal prosecution. They called for me as former JL leader to do the same. As the Duke would say - That'll be the day! Lex knew I wouldn't and instead focused his anti superhero commentary on me. He surely hadn't spoken of his mass relocation agenda publicly but he hadn't had to either with wonder plane sensors being second to none. They'd monitored his conversations; especially the juicy private ones. Racial tensions were still subdued right now but that was going to change; brother was just waiting for the right moment. Broadcasting them wouldn't matter for brother could magically alter/suppress them.
Bruce called. "Yeah?" "It's getting insane out there." "And here you thought madness was just confined to Gotham." "You know about his calls for you to surrender?" It was rhetorical; I nodded anyway. "Diana - there's no easy solution to any of this." "No; but there is one." "I don't see it." "I have to stand between you all and Lex." "You're serious?" That wasn't rhetorical. "Yes." "Diana..." "You know of my power levels Bruce." "I do; we all do. There has to be-" "There isn't. Stay out of it. Tell them all that. If not, I may even let my brother have you." I sighed. I didn't want to say this next but I had to. "Don't call me again Bruce. I won't answer. And if we meet again...it will be battle." I ended the call without saying anything else.
Now it was official on all sides; I was on my own. I would also go dark on all fronts from here. I was now going to be an unwitting pawn in brother's game to reshape the nation's demography. They often said demography was destiny; that would prove truer here than not. For now it was hurry up/wait. But I could see brother's pieces moving even now; in days to weeks at most the minority violence would increase sharply in key places like NYC and what not. Once that happened Lex would make his next moves to begin forced removal.
And I would show up to inadvertently help out Lex to do something I would otherwise despise; but none but we Olympians could truly understand how much raw power brother had at his disposal. And he would surely use it without hesitation; even if that meant plunging earth into hellish darkness. I wouldn't let that happen; even if that meant letting America be reshaped the way brother wanted it. At least most would still be alive and free. It wouldn't be ideal; but then there was nothing ideal about it in the first place. I prepared for the very unconventional war ahead...for now in some ways I had to become a daughter of war to save all.
