Episode 20: To the Finale or Bust
Remaining Competitors: Samus, Cloud, Captain Falcon
We start with Sakurai giving the recap
"Last time on Super Smash Island," Sakurai said, "we put the final four through a game of triple dog dare, with dares from the losers. Through working together, everyone teamed up against Marth, and finally took him down. By the end of today, we will find which two will make it to the finale. Who will they be? And who will be the one that loses that chance? Find out on today's exciting episode of Super...Smash...Island!"
Cue intro
We start in the afternoon with everyone outside relaxing.
Confessional
The confessional opens up with Captain Falcon.
"Wow. The final three." He said, "I'm so psyched! I feel that I don't deserve to be here, but look at me now. It still feels like a dream, but it's as real as can be. Time to go all the way!"
The confessional then transitions to Samus.
"Everything has just been great since Marth left." She said, "I knew he'd get what was coming to him. But now that that's taken care of, I guess I'll still try to win. But at least my opponents are pretty good people."
The confessional then transitions to Cloud.
"All of my hard work has come down to this." He said, "Just one more challenge and I'll be at the finale. We have now eliminated the biggest threat here, and I'm feeling so relieved. You'd think it'd should be smooth sailing, but I know I'm still up against some tough competition."
End of Confessional
"Hey, Samus." Falcon said, "Mind if I tell you something?"
"What?" She asked.
"Well, I know we were working together to get rid of Marth."
"Yeah?"
"I guess this means that the two of us go our separate ways. I didn't want it to be awkward and all, and I'm grateful for all of your help."
"It's fine." She said, "I figured it's about high time that we do that. But no matter what happens now, no hard feelings."
"Well, okay. That worked out nicely."
"But don't think I'll go easy on you."
"Heh. I'd be disappointed if you didn't."
"You know what?" Cloud said, "Today has just been awfully quiet."
"Isn't that a good thing?" Falcon said.
"No," he said, "I mean, TOO quiet. We haven't heard or seen Sakurai all day. That's just odd."
"Maybe he decided to give us some time to just relax." Samus said.
"Actually, you're wrong!" Master Hand yelled.
They look and see Master Hand talking to them.
"What do you want?" Cloud asked, "And what do you mean we're wrong?"
"What I mean is that I was told to come get you three." Master Hand said, "Sakurai has been busy working on the challenge for you guys. So just follow me."
They start to follow Master Hand, and they keep going deep into the island. They keep walking for a while.
"How much longer is this gonna take?" Samus asked.
"Yeah," Cloud said, "it's been like, what, an hour already?"
"Quit your whining! We're here!" Master Hand said.
They see in front of them what appears to be a giant castle-like fortress, and Sakurai.
"Welcome, my final three!" Sakurai said, "How's life treating you?"
"Well, since Marth is gone, it's just been super!" Falcon said.
"Yeah, what he said." Falcon said.
"So what's the deal with this big castle?" Samus asked.
"I'm glad you asked. It's something we've been busy working on. It's all a part of today's challenge, and it's going to work slightly differently."
"What do you mean by different?" Cloud asked.
"I'll get to that in a second." Sakurai said, "In this castle, there are three, small, golden statues with my face on it. And three paths within the castle. You each will take a route to get to the statue. Just know that each route has its own obstacles. And each route has a 'boss'."
"A boss?" Falcon asked.
"Exactly. To get to the statues, you will each engage in a boss fight, to get to the statue. The boss is different depending on your route. Once you do that, you get the statue, and come back here to the finish line. And since there's only three of you, elimination is going to work differently. The first two to get back here will go the finale. The last one will be sent home."
"So only the first two to get back get to go?" Samus asked.
"That's right. You just have to worry about not being last."
Confessional
The confessional opens up with Cloud.
"So it's pretty much just a race to not be last?" He said, "Simple enough. But what he's having us do? Given how he is, that will be hard. I'm already curious about these "bosses" he's talking about. That can't be good."
End of Confessional
"So, are the three of you ready?" Sakurai asked.
The each take a running stance.
"Get set...GO!"
The three start running to the castle, and the door opens in front of them. They then run in, and the interior of the castle looks grim and dreary. They then see in front of them three doors.
"Okay, he said we each take one path." Falcon said, "I'll take this one! See you guys later!"
He rushes into the door in the middle.
"Well, I guess I'll take this one." Cloud said.
He runs through the door on the right.
"Guess I'll take this way." Samus said.
She then goes through the last door on the left.
We then move outside the castle.
"Are you sure that they'll be able to handle it?" Master Hand asked, "It was already difficult trying to get these bosses you were talking about in there. Those things almost KILLED me!"
"Relax," Sakurai said, "I'm sure they'll be fine. Besides, if something bad does happen to them, we won't be held liable. Good thing I had them sign those contracts when they signed up for this show."
We then move to Cloud's route. He's walking down a hallway with candles lighting the way.
"This hall just keeps going." He said, "Where's these obstacles he's talking about?"
He keeps going down the hallway, and then unknowingly activates a tripwire.
"Wait, what!" He said.
He then narrowly avoids a spear that almost stabbed him in the chest.
"Is he trying to kill us!"
Confessional
The confessional opens up with Cloud.
"I knew that at this point, the challenges would be tough," he said, "but I did not expect THAT! That's going to far. I just about died right there. If it's this bad, I'm starting to get worried about the bosses he was talking about."
End of Confessional
He then starts running, dodging spears coming at him, and managed to jump over a pit of sharks.
"Well, he's surely upping his game." He said.
He then sees a door in front of him.
"Who knows what's behind this door." He said.
He opens it, and comes into into a room that's very big, with nothing in it, except for a big golden door on the other side.
"It's gotta be through that door."
He starts to run to it when the room goes dark.
"Aw, what now?"
He then hears something flapping behind him. He turns around to see what it is, and even though it's dark, he can see this thing easily. It was big, and purple. It had bat wings, a jester's hat, and a demented smile on its face laughing wickedly. It was the boss! It was…
"...Marx! So this is the boss!"
Marx just starts laughing like crazy and shoots a beam out of his mouth. Cloud manages to dodge it, and then pulls out his sword, ready to fight.
"Bring it on, you nutcase!"
We then cut to Samus. She's busy with the traps in her route. She's trying to avoid snakes being shot out of the walls, and pillars of fire crashing down.
"Tch. This is really starting to bother me." She said.
She gets through those traps and comes across a door. She enters and finds the room empty, except for a golden door at the end of the room. But Samus was already skeptical.
"Wherever you are, show yourself!" She yelled, "I know the statue is behind that door! I know before I get to it, I must fight some sort of boss! So whoever you are, come out!"
Confessional
The confessional opens up with Samus.
"I know it's not going to be that easy." She said, "All of those other traps were merely child's play."
End of Confessional
She then hears a loud roar, and something crashes down. It turns out to be the big dragon, Rathalos. Samus then starts to get worried.
"Oh great. I get the dragon." She said.
Confessional
The confessional opens up with Samus.
"Why did the path that I get have a dragon?" She said, "You all know how I feel about them. They're despicable, horrible creatures. And now I have to fight one. But this one is bigger than Ridley. And probably more deadly. I just hope I can somehow beat this thing."
End of Confessional
Rathalos starts swinging it's tail around, with Samus ducking and rolling out of the way. She starts blasting at it, but that only seems to make it madder. It starts spewing fireballs, and Samus narrowly avoids them.
We then cut to Captain Falcon. For him, his route is going more smoothly. All he's had to deal with were trap doors and pitfalls.
Confessional
The confessional opens up with Captain Falcon.
"Nice try, Sakurai." He said, "But these obstacles are too easy. Looks like I picked the easy path. Wonder how it's going for the others."
End of Confessional
He then comes across a big door, the same like Cloud and Samus had encountered. He goes through, and it's just as plain as the other ones. He then notices the golden door at the end of the room.
"Hm. Guess this was easier than I thought."
He starts walking to the door when something crashes down in front of him. It was big, mechanical, and intimidating. It was none other than Galleom.
"Oh, I see what he meant by a boss. Been a while since I've seen this guy."
Galleom raises his hands up and brings them down to smash him, but Cap dodges quickly.
"C'mon, big guy! Bring it on!"
We then move back outside the castle, and see Sakurai.
"Looks like our final three have engaged in battle with their bosses." Sakurai said, "Is someone gonna die? And who's gonna go bye-bye? Find out after the break."
Commercial Break
We then move back to Cloud and his fight against Marx. He's trying to slice at Marx, but he keeps teleporting and laughing wickedly. Marx is also firing out beams and ice balls, with Cloud slashing through them. Marx then summons a black hole, and Cloud stabs his sword in the ground to avoid getting sucked in.
Confessional
The confessional opens up with Cloud.
"It's annoying trying to fight this thing." He said, "Everytime I get close, he teleports away. This is really starting to get frustrating."
End of Confessional
Marx then fires another beam, and Cloud gets the idea to run through it, using his sword to split the beam while running through. He catches Marx by surprise, and slices Marx clean in half.
"Whew...well...that went well." Cloud said.
Cloud then tries to get to the golden door, but then falls, realizing he sprained his ankle during the fight.
"Sigh."
He then starts crawling to the door, and goes in.
Confessional
The confessional opens up with Cloud.
"If it's not one thing, it's another." He said.
End of Confessional
We then move to Samus and her fight with Rathalos. She's dodging fireballs like an acrobat, and trying to take shots at it, but it's still having no effect. Not only that, she's trying to not get cut by its poisonous claws.
"Why is it always dragons?!" She yelled.
She then takes a hit from its tail, and gets knocked into the wall.
"No...I'm not...losing to a dragon." She said weakly.
Now we move to Captain Falcon. He's having no problem taking on Galleom. He quickly evades punches and slams, and Cap manages to land heavy punches on Galleom. Galleom gets enraged and starts getting mad and starts hitting the walls and ceiling. It all starts falling apart and crashing down.
"Whoa! Trying to bring down the house, huh?" Falcon said.
He then jumps towards Galleom, and punches him so hard that he smashes him to pieces.
"Booyah! How's that?"
He then notices the castle is starting to collapse from Galleom's tantrum.
"Uh oh!" He said.
He rushes to the door to get the statue. He sees the small statue sitting there, he quickly grabs it, and starts to run out of there.
Confessional
The confessional opens up with Captain Falcon.
CAs soon as I saw that the place was going to come down," Falcon said, "I figured that it was high time to get on out of there. I just hope the others are okay."
We then move back to Samus, who's still struggling with her fight. She's in a bit of pain from hitting the wall, and then notices something pink in the distance. It was the hoodie that Mac had given her. She figured that when she got hit, it knocked it off of her. And what's worse, she saw that Rathalos was about to step on it with its claws.
Confessional
The confessional opens up with Samus.
"Ever since he gave it to me," she said, "I've been keeping it on me all the time. When I'm not wearing it, I keep it wrapped around my waist. It must've slipped off when that dragon hit me with its tail. I can't let anything happen to it. It means a lot to me."
End of Confessional
She then gets up with and runs to it, and quickly grabs the hood, avoiding getting clawed. She then sees a big chunk of the ceiling fall and hit the dragon on the head, knocking it out cold.
"What...just happened?" She asked.
She then sees that the castle is staring to collapse, and quickly heads to the door with the statue inside, and quickly grabs it and starts to get out of there.
We then move to Cloud, who is now limping down the hall with the statue, trying to quickly get out of there with his statue.
We see Cap running out of there and quickly getting to Sakurai at the finish line.
"And Captain Falcon is the first one back!" Sakurai said, "You have earned yourself a spot in the finale!"
"Awesome!" Falcon said.
They all then see Samus all day Cloud neck and neck, racing for the end. Both of them are having a hard time getting there since they both had taken some damage during their fights.
"Oh man. They're not looking too good." Falcon said.
The two are limping their way to end. Behind them, the castle completely collapses.
"And the one who will be joining Cap in the finale is…"
The two of them pick up the pace until they start trying to speed up. They both appear to get to the end, but one of them had their foot cross the finish line first. The one who just barely got there first was…
"...CLOUD!" Sakurai announced.
"Wait, I made it?" Cloud asked.
"Yep." Sakurai said, "Barely. Congratulations. You will be going to the finale with Captain Falcon."
"So...I'm going home?" Samus said.
"Yes." Sakurai said, "Sorry, but Cloud barely beat you to the finish line."
"Man, I'm sorry you lost." Falcon said, I would've loved to go up against you in the finale."
"It's fine." Samus said, "You two have earned it. I'm proud of how I did. Besides, it'll be nice to get away from this crazy place."
Later that evening, it's time for Samus to leave. Everyone is at the docks watching her leave.
"Good luck to the both of you!" She said.
"Thanks." Cloud said.
"Take care!" Falcon said.
She then gets on the boat, and sails away.
"And now…" Sakurai said, "here we are with the final two. After everything you all have been through, only you two remain. I hope you are all ready for what's in store next."
Cap and Cloud then look at each other.
"Guess it's down to just us, huh?" Cloud said.
"Yep." Falcon said, "Make sure that you give it your all for whatever is next."
"As long as you do. I don't want my win to be easy." Cloud said.
"Neither do I."
"And there you have it." Sakurai said, "The final two. Cloud and Captain Falcon. Which one of them will win and take home the hundred thousand dollars? Find out next time on the season finale of Super...Smash...Island!"

Happy 2020, everyone! Well, here we are. We finally got to the final two. It all comes down to this. To those of you who have read to this point, thank you so much.
