The red haired woman had never felt so happy or proud in her whole life; her little drop of sunshine had the staff within her grasp. She had to swallow the lump in her throat and wipe out the tears that formed in her purple eyes with a mixture of emotions. She fingered the maroon crystal gem on the waist chain hidden by her battle kimono, she sighed promising herself not to dwell in the past because it was time to look into the future and make something out of it.

She stood at the edge of the well thinking about all the things that she was going to teach the little one. New language and mannerism, etiquette and culture, this was her chance to get her family back. She made a small flame and send to her brother. He needed to know that Maika had the staff in her possession.

She was going back to where she felt the most at home she decided; she was going to send the first call tonight in Maika's dream.

She walked away from the 'Well of Worlds' towards her sleeping chambers, it will be only a few days before she would reunite with her again. She had to pack and get ready to go back home; and wasn't there a human saying 'home is where heart is' or something?

Dressed in black battle kimono and braiding her hair back she carefully began sealing her belonging in the scrolls. The weapons came first, then came the books and scrolls, then her clothes and accessories, then she added some gifts she had made, carefully she placed the pre filled bowl filled with the water from the 'Well of Worlds' and finally her special scroll of healing. She placed all the scrolls in a master scroll and then sealed it on her thigh.

Now all she had to wait and send Maika constant calls; a call to her beloved child, a call to her hope and then wait patiently.

Before they could really begin the process of making a new seal Maika pulled Kushina-nee-sama aside and took her directly to Senju grounds.

"I have something for you." She said as she unsealed the main scroll she had bought back from her visit from Uzushio. Kushina-nee-sama had looked at her in confusion until she began explaining her the last mission she was on.

"I bought everything back and perhaps something more than things" she said before unrolling the scroll and unsealing a particular black seal. With a shaky breath she gave the scroll to the older women "Uzumaki Kushina I bring you the last of your family and the message that you can keep the snow ball and that he never liked it anyway"

Kushina-nee-sama had stared at the scroll in her hands for a few minutes before she started crying silently at the message.

"Where do I….."

"Right in the Senju burial grounds… Hime-sama." She answered the unasked question with a sad smile.

"Thank you" the last Uzumaki said in a choked voice. The Senju Hime only smiled sadly and left the women alone she had a debriefing to attend.

"The staff is currently inert" he said to her after her debrief was over and she had turned over the mission reports that she had collected in the whole month. It was enough that Kushina would be able to establish her clan within these walls and lay the last of her family to rest safely.
"Inert? But what I don't understand is what is so special about this staff?" she said tilting her head to observe it with a different angle; the staff was still dusty and caked with mud in the crevices and groves.

He didn't want to do this but it was time he decided, his heart was already clenching at the thought of losing her faith in him. With a deep breath he said "When you come back from this mission I will be giving you the scroll with which you were given under my care little one. This staff here….it holds the power and secret to any question that you have. Finish this mission and I'll tell you everything; no more hiding, no more half truths and no more subterfuge."

Her acid green eyes were wide shimmering with tears which she tried blinked away and came on his side, taking his right palm in both her hand and pressed her face into it. It was a silent thanks to him and her way of showing trust as she shook in tears. He simply pulled her into hug and let her cry, let her release her emotions, it hurt him to see her like this but he was a leader before a father.

Once she collected herself he picked the staff and allowed her to seal it away in her skin again. It was perhaps one of the safest places for it currently was the most volatile weapon of the whole mankind.

He hoped that maybe she could finally find peace within herself. Sighing once he took out a blank mission scroll and quickly filled it with a short 'A' Rank mission to Amegakure, it was basically a clean-up job mixed with information gathering and data collecting. Looking at the legacy of his sensei standing at his side he couldn't feel anything other than pride. He set up the two man mission and told her that her partner will be waiting for her at the main gate.

Perhaps spending some time with her precious one would make her feel grounded from all the emotional upheaval she was going through. He dismissed her and told her to be ready in an hour to leave with her partner who will be waiting for her at the main gate.

Maika hadn't slept for the past few days and she knew that she was going to crash, her limits were being tested but the mission came first so she took a fast shower changed her clothes and left her hair open to dry. Her emotions were all over the place, she was kicked out of the room where Jiraiya-nii-sama, Minato-san and Kushina-nee-sama were creating the seal, then she was not allowed to access Rin-chan due to the instability of the seal and now this; taking a deep breath she put all her worries behind a mental shield and packed for her mission across Amegakure.

She penned a quick note to Obito-kun and left it pinned on his bedroom door and made her way out of her home and towards the gates. She jumped over roofs and ran to the main gate cataloging the samples she would have to collect from the site of sealing.

When she reached the gates she spied a very familiar figure standing there. His mahogany hair was pulled up in a man-bun and wearing the Jonin outfit. With a happy cheer she jumped on his back "Hiro, you're my partner?" she asked with an excited voice as her hair changing to match his mahogany brown as he stumbled due to her movements.

He laughed lightly and put her back on the ground and looked her over. With a soft smile he pulled her into a proper hug burying his nose in her hair "Welcome back home little one and yes I'm going to be your partner for the next mission." Sarutobi Hiro was going to be her partner on the mission she could barely wait to rub this into Kakashi's face. She mentally pumped her fist ignoring the silently laughing man she was pulling. Maika couldn't believe this, Jii-sensei was currently her most favorite person in her family. She put her hands into his and started swinging it as she pulled him towards the gates.

They wrote their names on the outgoing ledger and Maika flamed them the next step right into the forest she had made yesterday evening. She couldn't believe only one day had passed, to her it felt as if days had passed and she couldn't wait to fall asleep. She heard Hiro whistle at the thickness of the forest and smiled up at him with giddy feeling. It had been far too long that she had any alone time with him. She pulled down her mask and let it pool around her neck, feeling comfortable with him to let go of her shields and relax.

With the last smile at each other they began tracking the heady chakra towards eastern part of the forest. The base was unsurprisingly in the process of getting uprooted and moved. The whole area would have been burned down and then with liberal use of Earth and Water style would have been used further. Hiro pulled her back to lie on the boulder they were hiding in.

"How many?" He questioned

"It looks like a skeleton platoon as there are only 24 of them in there and only 2 are above Jonin skills. The Biju chakra is heavy on the northern part. You take out the Nin and I start collecting the evidence and samples?" She questioned him with a raised eyebrow. He winked at her with lazy confidence and moved to the main area leaving her the sealing site.

Walking in the chamber where the sealing had taken place she wasn't expecting a dead body there….. Oh the past Jinchuriki. She felt so sad…. it could have been Kushina-nee-sama in her place or even Rin-chan, taking a deep breath she sealed the body in a scroll and sat down breathing heavily. That took a lot out of her….. Damn it….. She didn't want to crash now. Taking deep breath she pulled on her reserves and started putting explosion seals on the chambers and ran as fast as she could once the countdown started. She met up with Hiro and they flamed away and the chain of explosion started a moment later sinking the whole base into the ground.

They missed three pair of eyes watching them.
