Nina sat still in the darkness of the moving van. All was quiet. She knew silence was going to be hard to find soon in the chaos of Hoenn, but truth be told she wasn't going to miss it. Finally, her Pokenav lit up, and the voice of Deku, her handler, streamed through.
" Good Morning in Kanto!" She cried out "this is your host DJ. Cutie, and joining me this morning, is the one and only DekuNukem!"
"Calm down Nina, you're not a DJ anymore." He replied.
"Yah, why did you pull me from that cover anyways?" Nina asked, a bit upset. " I was enjoying being a DJ."
"Well that's part of your life is over, there are bigger problems now. Hoenn is having problems. Bills randomizer has gotten even more powerful."
"The Randomiser? But didn't Aooooo -" Deku cut her off before she could continue.
"We thought so. Recent findings however, have proven otherwise. The people there are not who they seem. Evolution itself has become randomized. And the people there are talking of something strange called Mega-Stones. We may not have seen the last of Bill."
Deku took a deep breath. "Agent 999, we are sending you to officially investigate the Hoenn region. You are going to follow the path of Camellia A Slash, who came before you, and move into new bark town. While you may see others who are undercover, you are not to out them as such. Professor Birch and his son Brendon while not quite allies, are your principles, and retain the right to test you. And Nina remember, you're not alone. The professor should call in five minutes for your profile information." Then there was a click, leaving Nina Quinn in the dark.
Suddenly nervous , Nina sat down to prey. "Fossil gods watch over me. Root guide me please into creativity. Claw may you keep me safe, Helix guide me with your Anarchy. M-"
Then the moving truck hit a bump, sending the furniture at her.
A cry of "Left" reverberated through her head and following it let her dodge the first box. "Down right" sent her into a roll to dodge the second one. The cry of "Up- left" sent her limbs up in time to block the falling mattress. that was the moment the professor called. The weight of the mattress, and the voices arguing in her head, made it very hard to focus on answering the professor's questions.
She may have put something unintelligible on her trainer card, but the professor took it in stride. The voices however did not let up. Finally, they got to new bark town, where she met her "Mom, and saw a room she wouldn't be using. Walking had become hard, with all sorts of directions to try.
"Geez Deku." She wondered as she wandered. "Why a moving truck?" The transportation in the past hadn't been great, but a moving truck was downright bizarre.
Her Pokenav came on with Dekus voice coming from it again. "Nines, you've spent enough time in your room already. What are you doing. Why are you still talking like a DJ!"
She found herself angry. "D when you gave me this mission, I thought I was going undercover as a host, not becoming one!"
He had the audacity to sound surprised. "The voices showed up? Well... That should make your cover easier."
"Dek-"
"Stick to D Nines."
"D. I did not sign up to become a host!"
"It's probably for the best Nina. It makes your cover authentic, and will probably help you on your mission. After all, the voices only seem to show up when something important is going on, and the host ends up being crucial in taking down the criminal organizations, if they aren't taking down the entire thing themselves. Besides, didn't you hero-worship Aooooo for bringing back the gods?"
"Yes but-"
"Now you can be a hero. Just cut the DJ act, you're not going undercover as a DJ anymore."
"But I liked being an undercover DJ " Nina whined.
"Be a professional" D reprimanded.
"The only thing I can control is my mouth! And that isn't even all the time!"
"Nines." D started in a low warning tone.
"Nope, nope, If I have to put up with this bullshit, so do you."
They argued all the way through the moving madness, until they got to professor Birch's possible kidnapping, or something.
It turned out to be, much like most things in life, a Pokemon.
"I've got this" she told D confidently.
"Not a fire type!" He hissed! " that's cursed in the mob. They made you pick it, didn't they."
"I picked it!" Nina told him confidently. "I can handle the mob, and this randomized region! They won't know what hit them. Trust me."
"That always gives me chills whenever you say that."
"I am already in possession of a God, D. And with it , a plan."
"I'm scared now."
"Why? You have the best seat in true house. Now common, R, we've got to set this region alight."
"What have I done?"
Well, quite a tribute to younger me. Not looking forward to interpreting the notebooks in the future
