Okay, hear me out on this one. I know I already started an insertion into Hobbit, so this would be a rewrite/new take on Rowena in the Hobbit.
Picture this: Rowena, with a job at the local library, yearns for an adventure like in the stories she reads kids sometimes, or the movies she watches.
Then come the dreams. At first, they're rather simple; she rides with a man dressed in grey through small towns, watching the man greet those he knows as they enjoy the peaceful ride. Rowena is almost like a ghost, known only to Gandalf, the grey-robed man, as they travel.
Then they arrive at a house.
There's a curious little man there, with pointy ears and large, hairy feet. Was this the 'Bilbo Baggins' Gandalf had spoken about?
The man in grey tries to recruit the strange being for some quest, but Bilbo isn't having it. The man in grey murmurs to himself, trying to come up with a way to recruit his target.
"Well, I suppose I'll simply have to bring you into this, as well, my ethereal companion." Rowena doesn't understand and wakes up confused.
The next time Rowena falls asleep, however, she wakes up outside Bilbo's house, corporeal and directly in front of Fili and Kili as they approach the Hobbit's home.
How about it, guys? Would this interest anyone?
And if this were to happen, should Rowena be Queen of Erebor at the end (this being a fix-it fic for poor Thorin and his nephews since Rowena being there changes things), or should she find herself falling for Bard the humble bowman? It would be completely up to you guys! I wanna write this as a thank you for your patience as I try to get back into writing Middle-Earth related stories.
So, please let me know if y'all want this and who should be the love interest! I could pick either guy, honestly. They'd both be a good fit for Rowena in their own ways, I think. But maybe that's just me. Feel free to suggest other love interests, too!
