Lets ring in the new year with a shorter chapter!

Alex was moaning at the pain from the contractions, which all of a sudden hurt a whole lot more since her water broke. The phone was on speaker as Alex held it in between her and Happy as he sped towards St. Thomas. Kozik's chuckles were heard on the other end of the phone as he listened to how panicked his two best friends were. They had had nine months to prepare for this baby and yet now that it was finally coming, they were losing their absolute shit.

"Ally, baby, breathe. Deep breaths. Happy will take care of you. You're going to be a great mom" Herman cooed to try and calm Alex down.

The contractions were getting closer together and the pain was sharp and almost unbearable. Alex was screaming in pain, Happy unable to do anything as they were stuck at a train crossing, still no where near St. Thomas.

"Herm" Alex panted, "Is Tara there? I need to talk to her right now, something seems off"

"Yeah. I'll go get her" Kozik mumbled and a moment later Alex heard Tara's worried voice.

"What's wrong, Al? Is everything okay?" Tara rushed out. Kozik must have told her what was happening.

"My water broke about forty minutes ago" Alex glanced at the clock to double check, "But the contractions are lasting about a minute and a half, every two ish minutes" her breath was coming out in pants, chest heaving. Happy kept glancing at her, a terrified look on his face.

Tara swore, "Alex, honey, it sounds like you might be having a precipitous labour…"

"The fucks that mean?" Happy growled into the phone as Alex let out a guttural moan of pain.

"It means that this baby is coming really soon…" Tara mumbled, voice beginning to sound frantic. "How close are you to the hospital?"

"Stuck at a fuckin' train. After that, about 15 minutes?" Happy's voice was rigid, his jaw clenched at hearing Alex's painful sounds.

"You don't have 15 minutes. You need to find somewhere that you can park…" Tara instructed Happy, voice stern. "You're going to keep the phone on speaker and I'm going to instruct you through this"

"What? There's no fuckin' way. We're waitin' for the fuckin' hospital" Happy growled. Suddenly, Alex wailed at the top of her lungs, digging her nails into Happy's forearm.

"Tara! I need to push!" Alex growled out, "Pull off the fuckin' road, Hap. We're havin' the fuckin' kid right here" Happy dutifully pulled the car off to the side, putting it in park.

"Okay, we're parked. What do we do now?" Happy mumbled, his breath shaking from nerves.

"Alex, sweetheart, I need you to lie back and bring your knees up" Tara instructed. Alex turned in the bench seat to face Happy, leaning her head back against the passenger door. The dress she was wearing pooled around her hips as Happy stared at her dilating cervix in horror.

"I can see the fuckin' head" Happy mumbled, feeling the urge to vomit. Alex kicked out at him playfully before another contraction hit her and she let out another scream.

"Does the head look like it'll fit through?" Tara asked over the phone, her voice muffled by Alex's screams. Happy grunted in confirmation.

"Okay Alexandria, let's start pushing," Tara exclaimed and Alex could practically hear members of the MC listening in with bated breath.

Alex gripped at Happy's hand, crushing his fingers in her smaller ones. She pushed as hard as she could, a grunt escaping her throat. A wave of pain rippled through her as she pushed again. Tara's voice was cheering encouraging words through the phone and Happy looked a little less horrified.

"It's getting close, Tar" Happy grumbled.

"Okay, Alex! One last push should do it!" Tara cheered. Alex felt white-hot, searing pain tear through her body as she pushed, a scream escaping her lips. And then, all her pain washed away. Her body reverberated with peace, a warm buzz encasing her. The small car was filled with the sound of a crying baby, their crying baby. Alex watched quietly as Happy cradled their baby, the little guy looking so tiny in his father's hands. The new parent's eyes met and Alex watched as a lone tear trailed down Happy's cheek.

"So? What's my godsons name?" Kozik's voice came over the phone.

"Max. Maxwell Rey Hector Lowman" Alex's voice breathed out, elated.

There were cheers from the other end of the phone call, the listening club members exploding with joy. Alex looked up, watching as the final train car crossed the intersection. She began laughing hysterically, Happy giving her a concerned look.

"That train was so fuckin' long I literally gave birth!" Alex laughed, Happy's chuckled joining in with her own. He handed the baby over, using the sleeve of his sweater to wipe the sweat off of Alex's face. They shared a small smile and Alex finally took a good look at their son.

"We're going to the hospital. Wanna meet us there in about 15 minutes?" Happy asked Tara, finally taking the phone off speaker. There was a response before Happy grunted and snapped the phone shut. Alex didn't need to know that Tara was already there after the incidents at Hale's office.

"I'm so proud of you, Al" Happy whispered, pressing a kiss to her forehead, "You pushed out our baby on the side of the road in just under an hour. My strong, brave old lady."

Happy drove slowly to St Thomas as Alex nursed the baby, memorizing every detail of his face as he suckled peacefully. Sometime during the drive, Happy had to pull over to help her pass the placenta before they got back on the road. Alex looked an absolute mess, covered in sweat, blood and a bunch of other fluids and cradling a baby still covered in white vemix and attached to the placenta sitting in her lap.

"He has your eyes" she whispered, delighted and oblivious of her current state. Happy gave her a bright smile as he pulled into the hospital parking lot. He didn't think she would ever be as beautiful as in that moment, cradling their newborn son with a bright smile on her face and a twinkle in her eyes as she looked at him.

"I'm going to go get a wheelchair for you. Wait here" Happy mumbled before jogging into the entrance of the hospital. He returned a moment later with a wheelchair and Tara, who gave Alex a proud smile.

"Let me take baby while you transfer to the wheelchair" Tara offered, placing the placenta into a metal pan in her hands. She held the pan in one hand, holding Max against her chest carefully with the other hand. Happy lifted ALex into the wheelchair easily and Tara handed the baby back while placing the pan on Alex's lap. Happy pushed the wheelchair in as Tara rushed in front of them, intent on getting them right into a room.

An hour later, the umbilical cord had been cut and the baby given a bath. A doctor had given both mommy and baby a clean bill of health and Maxwell Lowman was officially a citizen of Charming, California. Weighing a healthy 7 lbs 7 ounces while two weeks early, he was as healthy as a horse. Happy and Alex were elated, unable to keep the smiles off their faces as all the members of the club squeezed into the hospital room around the smiling couple. Max was being passed around, not putting up a single fuss at all the new faces. He was currently cradled against Chibs' chest, the scotsman smiling fondly down at the sleeping baby.

"Ya did good, lass. Made one cute kid" Chibs grinned, handing the baby back to Happy who held Max against his chest. He slowly swayed back and forth with the baby, smiling fondly at Alex who was dozing off lightly.

"Can't believe your two ugly mugs made a face this sweet" Kozik teased, and Happy pressed a kiss against the SAMCRO beanie that covered Max's dark brown tuft of hair.

"We should get back to the clubhouse. I'm happy for ya, Killa" Clay chuckled, patting Happy's shoulder before leading Gemma out of the room. The rest of the club slowly dispersed after that, leaving Happy to cuddle into the bed with Max and Alex.

When Tara returned to the room later to check up on them, she found Happy sleeping on his back with both Alex and Max sleeping on his chest. With a goofy smile on her face, Tara tried to gently move the baby into the bassinet next to the bed. The moment the baby started moving, however, Happy clutched him tighter to his chest, grip unrelenting. Tara tried for a moment longer before realizing there was no way she was managing to get the baby back from his father's clutches. With a sigh, Tara left the little family to sleep undisturbed.
