Hey guys! I can't even begin to apologize for the fact that its been three years. I just. Life hit me hard. College happened. My dad died. We bought a house. Like I said, life hit hard. But, I recently saw the end of the sequel trilogy, and realized it was time that I finish my own story. It's time to bring Ben home. Also. I'm not touching Emperor Palpatine or that storyline with a ten foot pole, so I guess this is now officially an AU. Thank you for your patronage.
Rey walked with the General and Master Luke back to a conference room. She felt out of place behind the two of them. They were catching up on so much history. The bond between them made it seem like they were simply picking up from where they left off.
"-and then Chewwie ate one! In front of the other two porgs!" Luke exclaimed.
"He was always one to do as he pleases. I love that Wookie like family," the General replied.
They stepped over the threshold into the room, shutting and locking the door behind them.
"So, what is this meeting about?" The General asked, turning towards Rey.
"Ben." Rey stated simply. "He wants to come home."
General Organa smiled, "It's about damn time, but how?"
"I, personally, do not know, but I can ask him," Rey responded. She closed her eyes and reached out into the universe with the force, calling out his name.
Ben felt her calling for him. He swiftly made his way back to his room. He quickly threw things around, making it seem like he was upset over his meeting with the Supreme Leader. Then, he closed his eyes and cleared his mind, preparing to send himself to her. The darkness he saw quickly was replaced with a sparse conference room. He felt his breath catch in his throat as he laid eyes on a woman he hadn't seen in years. He saw her slowly turn to where he stood.
"Mother," he whispered.
"He's here," Rey responded. She slowly moved to where he was standing. She took his hand in hers and gave it a squeeze of reassurance.
"Ben, you need to come home," Leia pleaded. "We can end this war, together, as a family. We're stronger together."
"I want to come home. I just. I need to make it safe for everyone, first," he responded. Rey relayed the message.
"Make it safe, how?" Luke asked.
Rey sighed, knowing fully what he meant, "Ben, you cannot get rid of Snoke on your own. You need to let us help you."
"Rey, I can't have any more people get hurt."
"And I can't lose you again. Now, we're working together, or so help me, Ben Solo, I will end you myself!" Rey warned.
Leia couldn't help the smirk that came across her face, "They remind me of us when we were younger."
"She's just as headstrong as you," Luke replied.
Ben exhaled through his nose. She was not making this easy. "Fine. I know where the Supreme Leader is. What we'll need to do is somehow create a diversion on a nearby planet so that the base won't be as heavily guarded. Then, we attack. Rey and I will take down the Supreme Leader. Then, all that will be left of the war would be just taking out the smaller cells."
"Do you really think that would work?" Rey asked.
"It's the only chance we have," Ben sighed. Rey informed the General of the plan.
"When do you want to do it, son?" Leia asked.
"How long would it take to fortify the rebel fleet?" Luke ventured.
"A month, roughly. We would need to put out a call to all the bases, and we would need to get in touch with our suppliers," Leia responded.
"A month it is, then. We can work out more specific details along the way," Ben replied. Rey nodded.
"I have to go now, it's been too long. I don't want anyone to get suspicious," Ben added.
"I understand. See you tonight," Rey said, giving his hand one final squeeze.
She felt his presence slip away from her side.
"Well, this will take a lot of work," Leia said.
"We can't tell people who gave us the information, or who the informant is," Rey added, "They'll never trust the plan. They don't know Ben like we do."
"I don't think anyone knows him like you do," Leia quipped, "I'll call a meeting of the main generals and get the ball in motion."
The General unlocked the door and left.
"Well, Master, what now?" Rey wondered.
"Now, you finish your training. If you want to stand a chance against Snoke, you'll need it."
"Me? Wouldn't you be more suited?"
"Rey, my time is almost over. You and Ben are the balance. You and Ben need to fight Snoke and end this," Luke informed her as he left the room. She rushed to catch up to him.
"But, Master, how are we going to train on a military base?"
"Simple. We build a training field."
Ben felt himself come crashing back into his body. He had seen his mother, and she didn't seem to hate him. Rey was right. They all just wanted him to come home. And now, now he was on his way to getting back. He had never felt more at peace within himself. Rey had given him that. He couldn't help but smile. Now, he just had to find a way to keep his plan a secret. That would be the hard part.
