CHAPTER 19

They were all sent to the hospital after their fight with Tremor. Luckily everyone was not seriously harmed. Since Mr. Schue had sounded the fire alarm, fire fighters had come to the school to put out the fire but instead discovered the warehouse which had basically been disintegrated. They were of course clueless as to how it happened. It would probably remain a mystery for the foreseeable future.

Barry had basically given Wells the silent treatment all of yesterday as he made sure everyone was alright and taken care of, but today, as they all gathered in the auditorium, he finally confronted him. Mr. Schue, Iris and the rest of the kids sat there in silence as Barry and Wells were basically having a shouting match. Barry was upset that Wells had lied to him about the device. It didn't take him home, instead it killed Tremor. Mr. Schue shared a look with Iris who had her arm in a sling.

"I shouldn't have trusted you! I knew you were up to something when you didn't do a single test to check my vibrational frequency! How could you do this?" Barry exclaimed. Wells rubbed his temple in exasperation.

"For the last time. I told you. I knew you weren't going to do what had to be done. You're a hero Barry, not a killer. I admire that about you. But if I hadn't ended her, who's to say she wouldn't find her way back to this Earth again. We have no heroes here Barry! We're defenceless!" Wells said, defending himself. This seemed to have silenced Barry, but not for long. Before he could retort, Mr. Schue decided it was time to step in.

"Listen, Barry, I'm not excusing Wells for executing someone without at least telling us but I'm sorry, I have to agree with him. We are defenceless. What if she came back again? I know you feel responsible and you believe every life matters and I agree. However, sometimes, tough choices have to be made. Dr. Wells definitely lied to us, which is inexcusable but, in any case, Barry you saved us and we're forever grateful, but this is our Earth. Sadly, this was something that had to be done," Mr. Schue said.

"I agree with them, Barry," Iris chimed in sadly. Barry opened his mouth presumably to protest but he closed it again, frowning at her.

"Look there's no use arguing about it. What's done is done. I've already done the tests and determined the vibrational frequency of your Earth and recalibrated the dampener. It will get you back home now. We didn't have enough energy to send you home and I had no choice but to harness the energy from Tremor. I hope you won't think ill of me, Barry. Despite our opposing views, I admire you and your principles. You truly are a hero, "Wells said. Barry stayed silent.

"I promise I will destroy the device once you are back safely. There's no use endangering our world again," Wells continued.

"I'll hold you to your word, Dr. Wells," Barry told him. Mr. Schue could tell Barry was far from happy but at least the matter was put to rest. What's done is done.

Kurt was still unsure about how he felt after the whole fight between Barry and Wells, but he decided to stop thinking about it. Their Earth and everyone he cared about was safe, that was all that mattered. Blaine, Santana, Sebastian, Dr. Wells, Mr. Schue and him were gathered near the vibrational device as Barry, with his red suit on, prepared to finally get home. Kurt was definitely going to miss him. Barry had given them a terrifying but wonderful adventure. Kurt was a lot braver now than before Barry came into their lives.

Barry attached the dampener onto the device and turned to Dr. Wells. "I hope you know I hold you in high regard as well. Your doppelganger has helped me countless times and so have you. Just know that every life counts, no matter what they've done. You should remember that Dr. Wells," Barry told him. Wells sighed and looked away.

"I did what I had to do, Allen," Wells replied.

"I know. And you saved this entire Earth, for which I thank you," Barry said, offering Wells his hand in a gesture of gratitude. Wells smiled at him and shook his hand. Barry nodded and smiled back. He then turned to Santana and Mr. Schue.

"Hey, you know, Sebastian isn't all bad once you get to know him. He helped saved the world," Barry told them. Mr Schue chuckled, and Santana cracked a rare smile.

"I'll make sure Wells destroys the vibrational device. Don't worry," Mr. Schue reassured Barry, clasping his hand. Barry smiled and nodded at him.

"Get home safe, pretty boy. You truly are a hero, "Santana told Barry, punching him playfully in the shoulder.

Barry then walked over to Iris who gave him a hug. He was just glad she was safe and he could hold her tight in his arms.

"Is it true what Tremor said? I'm your future wife on your Earth?" Iris asked Barry. Barry smiled shyly and looked away.

"Well, yeah. We've been best friends our entire lives and we…definitely love each other. I know I would do anything to keep her…you…safe, Iris. On any Earth. And I will always love her," Barry said. Iris smiled at him and took his face in her hand.

"Thank you for saving me, Barry," Iris said. She pulled him close and kissed him on the forehead. "I hope you find happiness with the Iris on your Earth," she told him. Barry smiled and nodded.

Barry made his way to where Kurt, Blaine and Sebastian were standing and gave them all a big hug.

"Guys, I couldn't have done anything without you. Thank you. For everything," Barry told them.

"Barry, you saved our world. You gave us an adventure. It was amazing knowing you," Blaine told him.

"Yeah, yeah but you still need a haircut," Sebastian said seriously before he cracked a smile. Barry chuckled and ruffled his hair.

"I'm gonna miss you too Sebastian. Take care of everyone. Give your parents a hug for me will you?" Barry said and smiled.

"I will," Sebastian replied. Finally, Barry turned to Kurt.

"Kurt, thank you for helping me. I really couldn't have done it without you, "Barry told him.

"No Barry. Thank you," Kurt said and pulled him in for another hug. "Get home safe," He continued and Barry nodded.

Barry looked at all of them one last time before pulling on his cowl. He was ready to go home and make peace with everything that had happened and to see Iris and his friends again. He knew what he was supposed to do now.

"Run Barry. Run," Kurt said, smiling knowingly at him. Barry grinned back at him before turning back to the vibrational device that would send him home. Barry took a deep breath and started to run.

All Kurt could see was a ball of yellow lightning around the device. It got faster and faster until in the blink of an eye, Barry disappeared in a flash. Finally, he linked his arm through Blaine's and smiled at him before they all slowly made their way back to the school. They definitely had a wild story to tell the other members of the New Directions. Life was normal again.
