Chapter 18

After a very close Sectionals, where both The Warblers and The New Directions got through to Regionals, it was finally Christmas break and I couldn't wait to spend it with Quinn. I was excited to show her that although I'm technically Jewish, we still celebrated both Hanukkah and Christmas as Pop is Catholic, like Quinn's parents.

I'm sat on our bed when Quinn emerges from the bathroom.

"So, what's on the agenda for today?" She asks, smiling.

"The Christmas market in Columbus."

"Ooh, sounds fun."

I smile up at her and she leans down to peck me on the lips gently. As she pulls away I reach up and pull her back down until our lips meet again and she smiles into the kiss.

"Needy." She teases.

"No, just in love." I grin.

"So are your dads coming with us?"

"Yeah, we go to one every year in whichever city is nearest but this year I'm looking forward to it so much more because I get to go with my amazing girlfriend and hopefully find some mistletoe." I smirk.

"Is that so? Well you'd better get dressed because I'm sure your girlfriend is also excited and wants to leave as soon as possible." Quinn laughs.

I jump off the bed and rush into the bathroom, leaving behind a laughing Quinn.

After a long car ride, my dads, Quinn and I were glad to get out of the car and stretch our legs. Unfortunately, watching Quinn stretch had more of an effect on me than I thought it would. I gulp as my eyes roam her long body being contorted into the sexiest positions.

"Rach?" She laughs and my eyes snap up to meet hers as I feel a blush spread across my cheeks.

"Sorry, you're just, extremely flexible."

Her eyes instantly darken. "Come on." She says, holding out her hand for me to take. "Let's go find that mistletoe."

Smirking, I take her hand and let her lead me into the market after waving a quick goodbye to my dads.

"Meet us at the entrance at 6 so we can grab some food together." Dad shouts after us and I wave my free hand over my head in acknowledgement.

I watch in wonder as Quinn leads me around the stalls, her face lit up with excitement.

"So I take it you've never been here before?" I laugh.

"No." The blonde responds, looking over her shoulder at me. "We may be Catholic but other than Christmas day itself we never really do anything festive."

"Well I'm happy that I get to share this experience with you then."

"Me too new girl." She smiles.

After a glorious few minutes under the mistletoe we begrudgingly make our way back to the entrance to meet with my dads.

As we sit down at one of the café tables, Dad asks us how our morning was and we just blush in response.

"Okay… changing the subject, what do you want to eat Quinn?"

The girl just turns her head to me with a pleading look in her eyes.

"Yes, you can have bacon." I laugh. "You're lucky we already found the mistletoe otherwise you may not be so lucky."

Quinn grins in response. "I'll have the bacon sandwich then, please. Though I'm more than happy to buy it myself."

"That's not necessary Quinn, it's our treat."

"Thank you." She smiles politely.

Finally, Christmas day had arrived and I could tell that Quinn was buzzing with excitement and I was happy that she wasn't sad that she couldn't spend the day with her mum.

"Can I give you your present before we go downstairs?" She asks with an expression that I just couldn't say no to.

"Of course baby."

She pulls a small box out from her drawer in my room and hands it to me.

I unwrap it carefully and lift the lid of the box to reveal a gold chain with a star pendant.

"Quinn, it's beautiful."

"It's engraved."

I turn over the star to reveal the words 'I love you' inscribed on the back.

"I love you too baby." I smile, leaning forward to kiss her softly.

"I actually ordered that before the Hummel-Hudson wedding, that's how I was planning on telling you before Finn got involved."

"That's adorable." I smile. "Do you want your present now?"

"Okay." She grins, the excitement returning.

I move to my side of the bed to retrieve her present before standing in front of her again.

As she takes the gift from me I hold my breath and watch her open it.

She removes the wrapping paper to reveal a first edition copy of Alice in Wonderland.

Her face is void of all emotion so I instantly panic.

"If you don't like it we can return it and I'll get something else…"

"No baby I love it, and you. How did you know I loved this book?"

"I saw another edition in your bedroom when we were packing and it looked like it had been read over a hundred times, so I figured you must love it."

"It was always my favourite book growing up, I'd always wish I could join Alice on her adventures and discover new worlds. I'm honestly so jealous of all the travelling you've done Rach, it's always been a dream of mine."

"Well one day, we can go travelling together." I smile before accepting the kiss she tilts her head down to give me.

For the first time in my 17 years of life, I finally prefer Christmas to Hanukkah.
