Nina Martin didn't leave because she couldn't be around her Osirian, Eddie; it just didn't make sense and they both knew it but sadly it was the best they could come up with. She could've told them the truth but 1) they would've have believed it and 2) well, she actually couldn't tell them. Telling her friends she's a samurai power ranger would do them more harm than good.
