Howdy, everyone? 3rd dragneel, coming back with another chapter of Power Rangers Dimension Heroes. I bet you guys were wondering why I took so long to actually update this story… and I have no excuse. For that, I am sorry. Still, that doesn't mean I'm giving up on this story, especially with everything I thought of in regards to how it would progress. I do hope you guys will continue to read this story and my other ones.
But enough about that, let's answer some reviews!
Omni warrior: Yeah… I was on the fence about including that birth scene, but my editor thought it would fit the creature, so I included it. I do plan on Ichigo getting his Soul Reaper powers back, though that won't happen for a while.
DB-20: Trust me, Vektor and Oblivion are more connected than you think, and it's honestly sad. But we won't see that until later on.
RHatch89: Thanks.
KuroganeBlade: Oh, I see. I never watched too many Stevie Wonder stuff.
TaitanoRules555: Is that a story on this site?
MeteorElDrago: Ahhhh, I see what you did there. But this chapter will have a different feel on what we're used too, especially with the Heroes being out of commission for half the chapter.
Straw Hat PiratesFan2020: Yeah, I wanted something different to happen in this story, and having the entire team getting sick is the way to go. And about Oblivion, I am glad you and everyone else is feeling conflicted about him, especially with what I have planned for him.
Wolfman: Glad to see this chapter was impactful for you as well as everyone else. I have plans for those eggs, as well as the rest of Oblivion's backstory.
Doom King of Latveria: Hehehe, glad you found that funny. I want to show that the villains are also the Heroes of their own story, and that may cause you to doubt who to cheer for. We'll see if Wendy can heal them or not. I think Makarov disband Fairy Tail to search for something, though I do not know the full truth.
JTWAS2994: Glad you enjoyed this story. Hell, I've seen you review my friend ExcadrillComics' Power Rangers story, Astro Tron, and the fact you'll follow both of our stories is great. Hopefully you'll like what we have in store.
Yogaratw607: You think? I'm pretty sure Wendy is terrified of Kaldon, despite the fact he is as harmless as a puppy.
Kamen Rider W: Sorry, that would be a spoiler;)
GracefulArt: I admit these are good choices(but I will NEVER use Katsuki 'asshole' Bakugo, ever), but I already have the next four rangers in mind.
Last time: In order to gain an edge on the Rangers, Oblivion decided to go to his home planet of Kaon in order to find the Amulet of Egon. Sending a new hybrid by the name of Aracnilord, the generals of the Apocalypse attacked the port of Hargeon, prompting the Rangers to fight back. However, the spider hybrid used her webs to trap each of the Rangers together, only for them to catch a major fever. In order to cure them, Vektor and Kaldon head to Margaret Town in order to find Wendy Marvell to ask for her help.
How will things go for the residents of Povis? And will our heroes be cured before the fever kills them? Let's find out…
'Kaon'
The feeling of rubble tapping his face was what woke Oblivion up. He let out a low groan of pain as he began shifting his body. However, he soon found himself buried under large chunks of rock. "Of course the structure would be weak after all this time." Oblivion said to himself before clenching his fist. A glowing green light briefly flashed through the cracks of the rocks before they exploded, sending dust scattering everywhere. Pushing himself up, Oblivion began to examine his new surroundings.
He seemed to be in some kind of catacomb, with statues and marks of unknown origins. Even after the years he has been away, Oblivion could still understand the writing, which brought a sense of nostalgia to him.
"For those of a strong will and fiery spirit, the Amulet of Egon will show itself and grant thy power blessed by the Gods." Oblivion translated while running a hand along the wall. So much knowledge wasted, turned to nothing but a hollow shell of what Kaon was prior to… no, he shouldn't think about that now. He needed to find the Amulet and he needed it now. Reaching into his bag, Oblivion pulled out the detector Static had given him in order to find the Amulet, though the moment he turned it on…
*ZAP*
It suddenly let out several sparks before dying. "It seems like I will need to follow my instincts again." Oblivion said flatly before throwing the useless gadget to the side and walking towards the catacombs. A small breeze could be felt in the long halls, followed by a strange whistle. Most would associate the noise with ghosts or witches, but the leader of the Apocalypse army was no fool. If there was someone here who threatened his life, then Oblivion would simply kill them and move on.
"Go… back…"
Oblivion stopped for a brief moment, a curious expression on his face. Was he going mad or did someone actually speak to him? That couldn't be the case. Kaon was deserted for years! It had no treasures, no food, anything that would attract someone. So who was speaking? Shaking his head, Oblivion continued to walk forward.
"You… are… not… welcome… here…"
"Who speaks to me? A spirit of those who died long before?" Oblivion spoke up with a hint of annoyance, looking around to find nothing. Maybe it was a spirit who wanted to haunt him.
*WOOSH*
A sudden gust of wind blew in front of Oblivion, as if to warn him one last time. "It's clear you can hear me, so show yourself or be buried here." Oblivion warned while a hand shielding his eyes. The wind soon stopped, allowing the resident of Kaon to relax, if only a little. Sporting narrowed eyes, Oblivion continued to trek through the halls until he finally reached the end of a large room.
But soon, he realized that he was not alone.
Sitting in the middle of the large room was a figure, wearing only a tattered brown cloak and hood. They were on the ground, legs crossed and hands on their lap. "The last son of Kaon… why do you return?" The stranger spoke up in a chilling, distorted voice.
"I should ask the same thing. Why are you in the catacombs of Egon?" Oblivion asked with a heated glare. If this person thought that could disrespect the culture of his people, then they had another thing coming. The stranger said nothing for a moment, only taking very small breaths, as if their lungs were stuffed. "Answer me, now."
"I am a simple guard for the Amulet." The strange said calmly. "For years, I have stayed in this place, fending off those who are unworthy."
"Hmmm." Oblivion simply hummed a bit in response. It did make sense to have someone protecting such an artifact, but after so many years, how could anyone else be alive? "Will you show me where the Amulet is?"
"Why would you search for it?" The stranger suddenly asked, slightly lifting their head, though the hood still shadowed their face. "Is it for power alone? Or to protect something precious to you?"
"And why should I tell you?" Oblivion asked with venom in his voice.
"Because I know who you are, Malvon." The stranger said before they got on one knee… and smashed a fist through the ground. Oblivion was mildly surprised by this, and even more so when the stranger pulled out a large broadsword, holstering it over their shoulder. "And if you wish to take the Amulet and leave here alive, you will need to prove yourself in combat."
Oblivion sneered a bit under his breath, annoyed by the change of events and the strange actually challenging him. Still, he knew that finding the Amulet wouldn't be easy and there may be times he would need to fight.
With a simple crack of his neck… Oblivion moved forward.
'Margaret Town'
"AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!"
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
Two screams could be heard throughout Margaret Town, causing some of the birds to fly away in fear. Kaldon and Wendy continued to scream at the top of their lungs(even though Kaldon was a robot) before the former began lowering his shoulders.
"Wait… why are we screaming, Ni-Ni?" Kaldon couldn't help but ask innocently while tilting the side of his head. Considering he was a machine, he couldn't necessarily understand human emotion.
"What do you mean by that? WHAT ARE YOU?!" Carla shouted while pointing an accusing paw at the blue robot.
"Oh, where are my manners, Ni-Ni? I'm Kaldon, from the planet Povis, Ni-Ni." Kaldon said with a chipper tone, as if nothing was wrong.
"Kaldon… from Povis?" Wendy asked carefully, her stature easing up a bit. She didn't know why exactly, but this robot didn't seem threatening. "Wait, did you say planet?"
"Exactly, Ni-Ni!" Kaldon said with a perked head up. "See, our location is 768,922.00002, Ni-Ni."
"Uhhhhh…" Due to the amount of information that Kaldon had explained, both Carla and Wendy were at a loss for words. They knew OF planets outside of Earthland, but this was far beyond anything they ever thought.
"That reminds me, Ni-Ni!" Kaldon spoke up before his voice shifted to one of dread. "Wendy Marvell, we need your help, Ni-Ni."
"We?" Carla asked with narrowed eyes.
"Kaldon is correct, Carla." A new voice called out from behind. Almost immediately, Wendy and Carla turned around, getting into fighting stances should this turn out to be an ambush. Walking towards the three was none other than Vektor, who gave a comforting smile while holding his staff. "Please, I'm not here to fight, nor is my ally."
"Who are you?" Wendy asked, raising her fists up.
"I am Vektor, the last of the Celestials and resident of Povis." Vektor said while putting a hand over his heart and bowing to the two members of Lamia Scale. "I am sorry if we surprised the two of you, but as Kaldon said, we need your help." Seeing how the alien was acting, Wendy and Carla glanced at one another, as if asking what they should do. So far, Vektor and Kaldon have been somewhat upfront with them, so the least they could do is listen.
"What do you need help with?" Wendy finally said while lowering her guard, causing Vektor to smile even more.
"You see, a mutual friend of ours is in critical condition, along with a few others. I'm sure you know Natsu Dragneel?" Vektor asked, earning a gasp from the Sky Dragon Slayer and the Exceed respectively.
"You know Natsu?!" Wendy exclaimed with wide eyes. If Vektor told her where Natsu was, then maybe she could ask him why he left in such a hurry.
"How do we know this isn't a trick?" Carla asked cautiously. "For all we know, you could be lying to us and luring us into a trap." Vektor couldn't blame them for being weary, which is what he expected. He looked at Kaldon before nodding his head. Getting the message, Kaldon pressed a button on his chest before a screen suddenly appeared, catching Wendy and Carla's attention. They looked at the screen and needless to say: they were shocked.
"I can't… I can't breathe…" Ichigo said while wiping sweat off his brow for the umptenth time in a row.
"You… and me… both… strawberry." Yang commented, shivering like it was snowing around her.
"Where… the… hell… is… he?" Spike questioned before letting out a series of heavy cough.
"We… need to… stay strong. At… least… until… Vektor and Kaldon… come back." Yusei tried reassuring, removing his blue jacket and gloves.
"Natsu… can she… really… help us?" Rias asked the Red Ranger, who despite looking rather pale, smiled.
"I… know… Wendy." Natsu started before he coughed in his hand. "She'll… come… through…"
"Oh my word…" Carla muttered while putting her paws over her mouth. She had seen people get sick or poisoned, but this was something else. Natsu and the five others looked like they were going to die at any minute.
As for Wendy, the image was forever burned in her mind. To see Natsu, her 'big brother,' in such a state almost made her cry. He was supposed to be this strong fire that never died, yet now he looked like he was on death row.
"The webbing on their bodies possess a poison unlike any we have seen, and we can't burn it off due to its flammability." Vektor said gravely with a deep frown.
"Natsu said your healing magic is capable of curing all poisons, Ni-Ni." Kaldon said while turning off the screen, giving Wendy a pleading expression. "Please, we need you to help us, Ni-Ni. I don't want to lose my friends, Ni-Ni."
"Wendy?" Carla spoke up while looking at the young wizard, who had her hair shadowing her expression. The video seemed to be proof enough that Natsu did know Vektor and Kaldon, but in the end, it was Wendy's choice whether they would help.
Taking a deep breathe through her nose, Wendy raised her head and gave Vektor a look of pure determination.
"Take me to-"
"SCATTERSHOT!" Before Wendy could finish her sentence, several energy blasts were suddenly shot out of nowhere, striking the area around the four.
"GET BACK!" Vektor shouted before he rushed past Kaldon, slamming his staff on the ground. A rainbow-colored barrier appeared around them just as two figures jumped down from the roof, striking it.
"I see your skills haven't wavered, Vektor." It took a moment for Vektor's eyes to adjust, but he was able to see that their attackers were none other than Demolition and Kyra, who landed on their feet. The former of the two, instead of using his katana, was using a foldable staff, which he twirled like an expert.
"Demolition, Kyra." Vektor said with a glare before he looked over their shoulders, seeing the sniper of Oblivion's army walking up. "And Longshot, as well. So, you've decided to strike after what you did to my Rangers."
"Don't take it personal. We saw an opportunity and we took it." Kyra said with a hand on her hip. "To finally bring the one who's leading the current generation of Power Rangers to our leader is something we couldn't ignore. Now…" She opened a hand towards him. "Come with us and we'll let the girl and your little robot walk away."
"But leave the creature. I'll enjoy skinning it for money." Longshot boasted while reloading his gauntlets.
"Wait, he said Power Rangers." Wendy muttered to herself before letting out a gasp. "Is Natsu-?!"
"Kaldon, get them back to the Legacy." Vektor whispered, deactivating the barrier while getting into a fighting stance.
"But Vektor, Ni-Ni." Kaldon urged with heavy concern. If Vektor was going to fighting the generals, then he would need all the help he could get.
"NOW!" Vektor shouted before he fired an energy blast onto the ground, forcing the three generals to shield their eyes. Using the opportunity, Vektor jumped in the middle of the three and swung his staff around, striking each of them to the ground. Kaldon felt so conflicted at the moment, but his more logical side had to agree with Vektor for now. He looked at Wendy and Carla before picking them up.
"What are you doing?!" Carla shouted, clearly surprised by the robot's action.
"He's right, we need to go, Ni-Ni." Kaldon said, though with a hint of reluctance in his voice.
"But we can't leave him!" Wendy urged while trying her best to get out of Kaldon's grip, though it proved to be useless.
"You aren't going anywhere, my dear!" A chilling voice called out from above. Recognizing the voice, Kaldon quickly leaped forward, narrowly dodging a string of webbing. Landing on the spot they stood on was none other than the one responsible for the Rangers' condition: Aracnilord. Just seeing her made Wendy and Carla shiver in disgust. "I can't let any food walk away~" She said with hungry.
"Oh no, Ni-Ni." Kaldon said in fear. He hadn't seen Aracnilord in person, but now that he did, he regretted it.
"Say aaaaaahhhhhh!" Pushing her spider legs on the ground, the hybrid launched herself forward with the intent to eat them.
"NO!" Aiming his staff upwards, Vektor fired a beam of energy, striking Aracnilord's mouth as she screamed in pain. He then turned his head towards Kaldon, Wendy and Carla. "You need to go." Pointing the staff towards the wall, Vektor summoned a portal. Giving him a nod, Kaldon quickly leaped into the portal with Wendy and Carla before it disappeared.
"You have made a grave mistake, Vektor." Demolition said with a growl as he and the others stood up, giving him a deep glare.
All the survivor of Povis did was twirl his staff before getting into a fighting stance.
'Back in the Legacy'
A brief flash of light appeared inside the dining hall of the Legacy before disappearing. "Will you let us go?" Carla asked with clear frustration. The feeling of cold metal against her fur and Kaldon's tight grip was very uncomfortable.
"Oops, sorry, Ni-Ni." Kaldon said with an apologetic tone before he set both of them down.
"Where are we?" Wendy asked, looking at her new surroundings in curiosity. The Legacy looked so odd and shiny. She had never seen anything like this before.
*COUGH*COUGH*
"KALDON!"A part of the wall suddenly flipped over, revealing a screen with an alarmed face on it.
"What in the world?" Carla gasped along with Wendy.
"Neo, how are they, Ni-Ni?" Kaldon asked, ignoring their question. He needed to know how much time they had left.
"Not good."Neo said with a frowny face before she showed live footage of the team. They all looked much paler than before and their bodies were practically covered in sweat. "My readings show that their red blood cells are being destroyed and their systems are starting to shut down. If we can't cure them soon, then they may die." Hearing the grim news, Wendy clenched her fists.
"Can you please take me to them?" Wendy asked Kaldon with a determined expression, much to Kaldon's joy.
"Okay, Ni-Ni. Please follow me, Ni-Ni." Kaldon said before walking forward, with Wendy and Carla following suit.
"Kaldon, what is this place?" Carla couldn't help but ask.
"Oh… well…" Despite being a machine, Kaldon still felt rather nervous about telling the Exceed and Dragon Slayer about everything. "I'll tell you everything once the others are cured, Ni-Ni." Though this didn't answer her question, Carla knew there were more pressing matters to attend to. Reaching the med bay, Kaldon and the others entered the room, only to come face to face with six ill heroes.
"Kaldon… is… that-" Natsu couldn't even finish his sentence as he turned to the side and vomited hard. All six of the rangers were bedridden, though even with the blankets over their bodies, they still shivered like wet dogs. Several large rashes could be seen on their faces and sweat ran down their heads.
"How did this happen?" Wendy asked as he walked up to her fellow Slayer with a look of concern. Her brown eyes then caught sight of the webbing on his and Ichigo's foot.
"The spider creature who almost attacked us did this to them, Ni-Ni." Kaldon said regrettably. "Even if we remove the webbing, the venom would still be in their bodies, which is why we came for you, Ni-Ni."
"If that's the case, then we would need to somehow remove the webs from their body so it won't spread again." Carla theorized with a hand under her paw.
"We can't just pull them apart, Ni-Ni. They're as strong as a power lift, Ni-Ni." Kaldon said while banging on his head softly, as if the answer would just spill out of it. What can you do if there was a compound that couldn't be pulled apart or burned off?
"D-D-D-D-Damn, it's too c-c-cold." Spike suddenly spoke up while shivering.
However, that one complaint gave Kaldon an idea.
"FREEZE THEM, NI-NI!" Kaldon shouted while punching his open palm in realization. Seeing the confused looks from Wendy and Carla, Kaldon elaborated. "It's been shown in science that some compounds are weak when surrounded by cold temperatures, Ni-Ni. It's like bubblegum being on your foot: you just need to freeze it and it'll come right off, Ni-Ni."
"Okay, but how does that help us?" Wendy asked, looking at the webbing once more. If only Gray was here.
"That's simple!" Neo exclaimed before a small section of the wall opened up, revealing three small silver canisters with an icy mist leaking from the top. "With a little Liquid Nitrogen, we should be able to freeze the webs enough to pull the Rangers apart!"
"Genius, Ni-Ni!" Kaldon eagerly walked up to the canisters before picking two of them up. He then walked back to Natsu and Ichigo before twisting the top off. Lowering the canister just a few inches away from the webs, the blue robot carefully began pouring a small stream of clear misty liquid onto them, making sure to avoid hitting their feet. "That should be enough, Ni-Ni." Wendy and Carla watched in awe as the webs froze in an instant before Kaldon knocked on the ice, causing it to shatter and free Natsu and Ichigo.
"What… is… that…" Ichigo muttered as he and Natsu began wiggling their free feet.
"There, now you can start healing them Miss Marvell, Ni-Ni." Kaldon said to Wendy before he looked at Carla. "We still need to free the others, so can you help me, Ni-NI?" The white Exceed got over her surprise before she nodded and sprouted her wings to pick up the second canister. As they began to work on the others, Wendy began using her healing magic on Natsu and Ichigo's feet, slowly destroying every trace of the venom.
'I have to thank Shelia for the lessons.' Wendy thought to herself as she saw the two males begin to regain some color on their skin. She was happy that Natsu was going to live, but she still had so many questions, like 'is what those attackers said true? That Natsu and the five others are really the Power Rangers?' Still, there was a time and place for everything and right now, she needed to focus on the multicolored heroes.
It took a good ten minutes and a lot of magic, but Wendy was finally able to cure all six of the Rangers, who were now breathing normally.
"There, that should be it." Wendy said while wiping off some sweat from her forehead. A scanner appeared from the ceiling, scanning each Ranger from head to toe before retracting back up.
"I can confirm that the Rangers ARE cured!" Neo said with a smiley face on the screen. Now they wouldn't need to worry about whether or not the heroes would die. Kaldon, unable to hide his joy, picked Wendy up, causing her to squeal in surprise.
"THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, NI-NI!" Kaldon cried out while spinning Wendy around, causing her eyes to turn to swirls.
"Your… wel… come… please… put… me… DOWN?!" Wendy tried urging, but it seemed like Kaldon was ignoring her.
"She'll get sick if you keep spinning her like that!" Carla shouted with a tick mark on her head. Kaldon realized what he was doing and put the Sky Dragon Slayer down with a sheepish expression(at least his version of it.)
"Oops, sorry, Ni-Ni." Kaldon apologized while giving a bow.
"It'ssssss… oooooo… kay…" Wendy said in a delirious tone while waddling back and forth.
A small groan caught the three's attention as they turned around, seeing the six come back to their senses.
"Who turned on the AC?" Yang complained while rubbing her cold hand.
"Hang on, I don't feel like I'm dying." Spike commented while rubbing his forehead. If anything, he felt even better than before.
"The webs are gone." Yusei said while looking at the shards of frozen webs on his lap. Personally, he was glad to be unstuck. Not that he had anything against Rias, but more so the fact they were in a rather uncomfortable position.
"How did they freeze?" Rias asked while picking up one of the shards to examining it. For something so small, it did burn a bit.
"That's thanks to the liquid nitrogen, Ni-Ni!" Kaldon said proudly with his hands on his hips. Ichigo rubbed his head before he noticed someone standing next to Kaldon.
"Who's that?" Ichigo asked in confusion, causing Wendy to sheepishly wave her hand.
"Hello." She said somewhat shyly. It was somewhat understandable considering who she just saved. While the other five Rangers were staring at Wendy in confusion, Natsu was smiling happily.
"Hehe, so you guys were able to find her. That's good." Natsu said with a small chuckle. However, he was caught off guard when Wendy suddenly lunged towards him, wrapping her arms around his head.
"I missed you so much." Wendy muttered, a lone tear running down her cheek. All these months of worrying about her 'big brother' was finally being let out. "You left the Guild without saying anything, and we were all worried about you." Hearing this, Natsu's eyes widened briefly before a look of guilt adorned his face. He should have expected this to come up, yet he was still caught off guard. Without saying a word, Natsu wrapped his arms around Wendy's body, patting her back gently.
"Mind filling me in?" Spike whispered to the others, who gave Wendy sympathetic looks.
"In Natsu's world, he and Wendy were part of this group called Fairy Tail. But after a war they had with some demons, Natsu left without telling anyone." Rias said with a sad tone. "It wasn't until he joined us that he learned that Fairy Tail disbanded." The space cowboy simply gave a nod, putting a hand in his pocket while watching Natsu and Wendy's reunion.
"We're glad you all are feeling better." Carla spoke up while adorning a small smile, catching the Rangers' attention.
"... that's a talking white cat." Yang said with a flat face.
"You wanna know the worst part? This isn't the first time I've seen a cat talk." Ichigo said while facepalming to himself. "Please tell me you can't transform into a naked woman."
"I'm not a cat. I'm an Exceed from Edolas." Carla said with a huff. "And what kind of perverted mind do you have?!"
"Right. Sorry about that." Yusei said, though he did sweatdrop a bit at the odd circumstances.
"I might not be much of a cat person…" Yang started before she kneeled down to Carla's level with a smile. "But you're pretty cute."
*Grrrr*
Carla suddenly froze up as she heard a low growl, causing her to turn to the side. A single figure was under one of the beds used for the Rangers. "What is that?" She said with a frightened tone. She let out a gasp as the figure under the bed leaped forward, revealing it to be Ein.
*ARF*ARF*
The corgi of the Bebop Crew let out a series of barks as he began chasing Carla, who sprouted her wings to get away. "DOWN! DOWN! WHO LET THIS DOG IN?!" She shouted while flying around in circles, with Ein following suit. The others couldn't help but laugh a bit at the situation. They were so close to death, yet now they were cured and had a talking, flying cat being chased by a corgi. Never a dull moment.
"Danger! Danger!" Neo shouted as the alarms were going off. A screen then appeared on the wall, showing footage of Vektor facing Longshot, Kyra, Demolition and Aracnilord. "Vektor needs help now!"
"He went to fight all four of them by himself? Talk about having guts." Yang said with a concerned frown on her face.
"We need to get down there before that spider hits Vektor with her webs." Natsu said as he gently pushed Wendy away, standing up.
"Are you sure you can walk, Ni-Ni? You just woke up, Ni-Ni." Kaldon said with deep concern.
"We're fine." Yusei said stoically. "Plus, we can't let Vektor fight by himself." The others began nodding in agreement.
"But what if you get hit by those webs again?" Wendy asked the six with a frown. She did have a valid point, but they only got infected because they were caught off guard. Still, they needed a backup plan just to be sure. Kaldon began pondering the same thing before he looked down at the canister of liquid nitrogen. Suddenly, his eyes began to flash in realization.
"LEAVE THAT TO ME, NI-NI!" Kaldon said triumphantly. "I'll need some more liquid nitrogen and your blasters please, Ni-Ni!"
'With Vektor'
Longshot let out a scream as his large body crashed into a nearby fruit stand, sending wood and fruit flying everywhere. He let out an annoyed growl as he wiped off some juice off his visor, standing up. "Okay, that made me mad."
Vektor walked into the middle of the street, panting hard while wiping away from blood from his mouth. Surrounding him were the other generals Demolition, Kyra and Aracnilord, though they looked worse for where.
"So… this is the strength of a Celestial." Demolition admitted, struggling to keep himself up with his staff. "Incredible."
"How long can you keep going, Vektor? From the look of things, you look like you'll collapse at any minute." Kyra gloated, though even she had to admit that the mentor of the Power Rangers was formidable. He was able to hold his own against all four of them, despite the among of damage they inflicted already.
"As long… as there's air in my lungs… I won't fall." Vektor said in a serious tone. "My Rangers have fought for so long. It's about time… I repaid them for their efforts."
"Strong words coming from a dead man." Aracnilord said, annoyed by the rather cliche speech. Her tail slowly began to extend, waving in the air a bit while focused on Vektor. "It's time we finished this." With that, she sent her stinger forward, small drips of venom leaking out of it.
"Fire Dragon Roar!" A stream of fire suddenly shot out from the sky, hitting the stinger in full force. Aracnilord let out a pain filled scream as she retracted her scorched stinger, which sizzled a bit.
"Who did that?!" Aracnilord shouted as she and the others looked up. Standing on top of one of the rooftops were none other than the six Dimension Hero Rangers, who all glared down at them.
"Rangers." Vektor muttered under his breath, a warm smile adorning his face.
"I thought you said your venom was incurable!" Longshot shouted while glaring at Arcanilord, who glared back.
"It doesn't matter. We'll still destroy them for my father." Demolition said with a strong tone.
"That's not happening." Natsu said with a serious tone before he raised his Morpher. "Ready?"
"Ready!" The others also raised their Morphers, inserting their Dimension Crystals into them. Not willing to give them the chance, Demolition, Longshot and Aracnilord launched a series of attacks at them, enveloping them in an explosion. "UNLEASH THE DIMENSIONS!" However, their attacks proved to be futile as six pillars of light emerged from the explosion. The six Dimension Rangers leaped out of the flames before landing on the ground.
"Vektor, are you okay?" Rias asked as she and the others rushed to his side.
"It doesn't hurt as much as it looks." Vektor said with a small chuckle. "Still, I'm grateful miss Marvell was able to cure all of you."
"Now that we don't have to worry about dying, it's time for some payback." Yang said with a grin while cracking her knuckles.
"And with our upgraded blasters, we should be good." Yusei commented, raising his shield.
"Split up and take them down! We can't let them get away with this." Natsu ordered as he and the others summoned their weapons.
"It seems our battle is not over yet." Demolition said before he pointed his staff towards the Rangers and yelled out one simple word. "ATTACK!"
With that, both groups began charging at one another. Vektor took this chance to fall on one knee, letting out small pants.
"I'm more tired than I thought." Vektor told himself before he felt a warm aura surround him. He looked over his shoulder and gasped in shock at who it was.
"Don't move. I can heal your wounds." Wendy said with a smile as he continued to use her magic to help the mentor.
"Just die already!" Longshot shouted while firing several rounds from his gauntlets, forcing Yang and Spike to roll out of the way. "You think you're fast? Let's go down memory lane." Emptying both gauntlets, he reloaded them with purple rounds before firing them on the floor, enveloping it with purple slime
"Careful. That stuff's slippery as hell." Yang warned as she and Ichigo got to higher ground.
"Yeah, I can tell." Spike said, his gun motioning towards the reflective surface of the slim. He then looked back at Longshot, smirking under his helmet. "So, wanna have a good old fashioned gun fight, huh? Not that I mind."
"Glad to see someone appreciate the art of gunslinging." Longshot complimented before he jumped onto another roof. "Time for a game."
"Blondie, mind giving me your gun?" Spike asked Yang, who quickly threw her Dimension Blaster towards him, allowing him to catch it. He spun both blasters before running forward, aiming ahead.
"Let's go!" Longshot fired a barrage of shots from his gauntlets, to which Spike fired his blasters. The blasts from both sides either countered one another or simply missed, yet it didn't stop them from moving forward. Once they got close enough, Longshot threw a fist towards Spike, while jumped to the ground to dodge. He then pushed himself up and kicked the sniper in the chest, causing him to stumble back. Spike then aimed his wolf blaster at Longshot, only for him to smack it to the side. Longshot attempted to do the same, but Spike moved out of the way just in time.
"Sorry about this." Spinning the weapons with his fingers, Spike aimed them at Longshot's chest before he pulled the trigger, striking him with green and yellow energy. Growling in pain, Longshot reached out for his sniper, aiming it at the Space Cowboy.
"Don't take a SHOT in the dark!" Yang called out before she landed in front of Longshot, smashing both her Ape Gauntlets on the barrel of his sniper, flattening it effectively.
"HEY!" Longshot pulled back and looked at his now broken weapon in horror. "You bitch!" Before he could react, Spike fired a few more shots at him. Sliding on the ground, the green ranger kicked Longshot's right leg, forcing him on the ground, Yang took this chance to deliver a double uppercut, sending the sniper up in the air before he crashed down on the purple slim. "Damn you!" He attempted to stand up, only to slip. Spike and Yang looked down at him in amusement before the two gave a high five.
'With Yusei and Ichigo'
"Come here, Blue Ranger!" Kyra said with a giggle as she lashes her whips forward, forcing Yusei to block them with his shield. She spun it in the air again before she threw them forward, hitting the Signer's shoulder as he fell on the ground. "I got you now!" She leaped into the air, fully intent on striking him down.
"Not this time." Yusei said before he turned his body and revealed his blaster. He then fired a light blue beam of energy, hitting Kyra on the stomach.
"AAAAHHH!" She let out a scream of pain, falling next to him. Kyra looked down at her stomach and gasped as she saw it was beginning to freeze. "What is this?!"
"Just a present from a good friend of ours." Yusei said while kicking himself up before he turned on his morpher. "Phoenix Striker!" A flash of light appeared behind Yusei before his blue duel runner drove out of it. He quickly leaped into the air before landing on the driver's seat, heading straight towards Kyra.
"This… won't… STOP ME!" Kyra shouted, slamming her fist on her frozen stomach to destroy some of the ice. Yusei took the opportunity to fire several lasers, striking the area around her. She jumped over the blue ranger while taking out several knives before throwing them. Yusei used his shield to block some of them, who a few did hit his Phoenix Striker. Turning 180 degrees, Yusei increased the speed of his vehicle before driving again towards Kyra.
"FIRE!" Yusei once again fired on Kyra, who stumbled a bit in surprise. "Blue Flame Striker!" Enveloping himself in blue flames, Yusei rocketed towards Kyra before hitting her in full force, sending her flying.
*CLANG*
Ichigo's Tiger Sword and Demolition's staff collided, forcing the two to get close. "In all honesty, I'm glad you aren't dead. That means I have a better chance to end you for my sword." Demolition said in a serious tone.
"Yeah? Well sorry, but I have people depending on me, so I won't die any time soon." Ichigo replied back before the two pulled away. Ichigo then slashed forward as Demolition blocked it before he kicked his opponent. Demolition spun his staff around his arm before thrusting it several times, forcing Ichigo to go on the defensive. Though he was able to block some of the thrusts, the black ranger was still hit on the chest before he fell on his back. Demolition brought his staff down, only for Ichigo to catch it with his legs, twisting them to the left. "Getsuga Tensho!" Covering his blade in dark energy, the orange haired swordsman swung it towards his opponent, only for them to grab it with a glowing left hand.
"I have trained to counter your attacks." Demolition said with a strained tone, feeling the energy of the Getsuga Tensho burn his hand. "Nothing you do will surprise me."
"Really?" Ichigo asked, giving a slight smirk on his face before he slammed a foot on Demoltion's stomach, throwing him over. Quickly drawing out his blaster, Ichigo shot at his opponent's hand, and like with Yusei, caused it to freeze.
"Ice?!" Demolition gasped in shock before Ichigo slashed his chest with his enhanced sword.
"Just because you know my attacks doesn't mean I can't try something new." Ichigo commented while putting his sword on his shoulder. "If you still wanna take me down, then go ahead. But I won't show any mercy."
"Kuro… Saki…" Demolition growled before he fell face forward on the ground, the wounds given by Vektor were finally settling in. Ichigo gave him one last look before running off to help his friends.
'With Natsu and Rias'
"You know, I never got to choose which Ranger would get stuck with the other. But now, I get to taste both red AND pink!" Aracnilord said with hungry eyes before she fired a stream of webs from her mouth, only for Natsu and Rias to dodge it.
"Natsu, should we use it?" Rias asked the red ranger as the two hid behind cover.
"Not yet. We need a good shot." Natsu said as he poked his head up, only to duck down again to avoid her stringer.
"Come closer, Rangers. I have venom with your names on it!" Arcanilord called out before she used her spider legs to leap up and land right behind Natsu and Rias, striking them down. "I wonder how I should wrap you up. Maybe if I eat you now, it'll be a good appetizer before I eat the rest of your friends. Hell, I've always wondered what a Celestial tasted like."
"Sky Dragon Talon!" Before she could move, Aracnilord was kicked in the back of her head, causing her to tumble away. Natsu and Rias looked in shock as their savior was none other than Wendy, whose blue hair was now pink as small feathers appeared on her body.
"Wendy?!" Natsu exclaimed in pure shock. He could sense the raw magic coming out of her and needless to say, he was proud.
"Her magic's increased. What is this?" Rias couldn't help but ask. Even someone as young as Wendy shouldn't have such high levels of power.
"I wanted to keep this as a surprise." Wendy said, looking back at Natsu with her intense pink eyes. "See, ever since Tartarus, I was able to use Dragon Force, but I needed to train to use it." She then had a soft smile on her face. "It was thanks to Lamia Scale and Chelia that I was able to finally use it." Her smile disappeared before she looked back at Aracnilord. "Now, I'll use it to protect you." The son of Igneel felt like he was going to cry. Wendy, the youngest and 'weak' of the Dragon Slayers, was able to unlock Dragon Force and was going to fight with him. It was just like the good old days of Team Natsu.
"Yeah, but we got your back." Natsu said, raising his Dragon Claws up.
"Don't worry, Wendy. She won't hurt you." Rias added, readying her bow with a crimson arrow.
(Play Fairy Tail Indomitable ost)
"I don't care if you are a child. NOW ONE ATTACKS ME AND GETS AWAY WITH IT!" Now full of rage, Aracnilord launched a large web net towards the three. However, they anticipated this.
"Rias, now!" Natsu shouted before he and the pink ranger drew out their blasters and fired, hitting the webs with a light blue beam. As soon as the beams struck the webs, they began to freeze until they reached Aracnilord's mouth. She let out a scream before she broke the webs, holding her mouth.
"WHAB DOD GOU DO?!" Aracnilord shouted in a slurry tone, thanks to the ice freezing her tongue.
"Good, it looks like the nitrogen blasters work. We have to thank Kaldon for this." Rias said with a smile as she looked at her weapon. Using a mixture of the liquid nitrogen as well as the plasma ammunition allowed the robot of Povis to make some new for the Rangers to use against the spider/scorpion hybrid.
"Let's go, Wendy!" Natsu shouted in determination.
"Right!" Wendy answered before she and Natsu launched themselves forward. Seeing this, Aracnilord attempted to stab them with her stinger, only for Natsu to grab it with his arms. "Sky Dragon Claw!" Wendy, charging wind magic onto her right hand, slashed the stringer, causing more pain for Aracnilord. She quickly moved behind her before delivering another Sky Dragon Talon onto her back.
"Fire Dragon Claw!" Engulfing his claws on fire, Natsu slashed the hybrid on the chest three times, scorching her skin even more. "Rias!" Getting the signal, Rias jumped onto Natsu's shoulder before leaping into the air, firing threw crimson arrows.
"This won't happen. I WON'T LET YOU KILL ME!" Aracnilord shouted in fury as her spider legs attempted to stab them in a wild manner. However, she was then pelleted with energy blasts from behind.
"HHHAAAA!" Yusei and Ichigo ran from behind and struck her. Spike rolled onto the field before firing even more shots, burning Aracnilord's legs.
"Knock, knock!" Yang called out before she smashed the top of Aracnilord's head, causing her to fall on the ground. The rest of the team gathered, with Wendy in the middle. The yellow ranger noticed her new look and grinned. "Hey, I like the new look."
"No… not… YET!" Aracnilord shouted, trying her best to stand, but failing.
"It's over." Natsu said before he pressed a few buttons on his Morpher. Soon, the Dimension Ion Cannon appeared in the air before they caught it.
"Let me help." Wendy spoke up before a large aura of wind surrounded her and her arms.
"Might as well join in too." Spike chimed while pulling the slide of his blaster three times, allowing it to glow. The other five Rangers began filling the cannon with energy, allowing it to glow a bit.
"RRRRRRAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!" Letting out an inhuman screech, Aracnilord lunged towards the seven, ignoring all the pain on her body.
"Dimension Ion Cannon, fire!"
"Wolf Hunt!"
"Dragon Slayer Secret Art! Shattering Light, Sky Drill!"
The five Rangers fired a beam of rainbow like energy while Spike shot a green shot in the shape of a wolf and Wendy unleashed a pillar of light and wind. All three attacks merged into one before they struck Aracnilord in full force.
"YOU… BASTARDS!" All Aracnilord could do was shout with as much hate as she could muster before she exploded into nothing.
"Dammit, they killed her." Longshot said while helping Demolition and Kyra up.
"Should we have Static use the Ragna Cannon?" Kyra asked Demolition, though much to her shock, he shook his head.
"No. There's no point to doing that now. We must retreat and prepare for my father's return." Demolition said with a hint of bitterness in his voice. He would've revived Aracnilord, but time and time again, their monsters were destroyed. So all he had to go for is the Amulet of Egon that his father went to look for.
The three generals gave the Rangers one last glare before they were teleported away.
'With Oblivion'
"RRRAAAAHHHH!" Oblivion let out a battle cry as he threw his fist, only for the stranger to block it with their broadsword, sending a shockwave throughout the catacombs. He threw began throwing punch after punch, narrowly missing his opponent each time. 'It's as if they know my fighting style!'
"What's wrong, Malvon? Have I destroyed your resolve?" The stranger mocked before they went on the offensive, swinging the broadsword like it weighed nothing. Oblivion blocked each slash with his arm, sparks flying off each time. "If this is all you can provide, then you are unworthy of the Amulet of Egon!"
"ENOUGH!" Oblivion shouted before he clapped his hands on the broadsword, stopping it inches from his head. Narrowing his eyes, Oblivion began enveloping his palms with green energy, making the sword rattle like an earthquake. The stranger noticed this and jumped in the air before kicking him square in the chest, creating distance between them. He then fired several green energy blasts, only for the stranger to block them with their sword.
"You are nothing!" The stranger shouted, their voice holding a hint of anger in it before they swung their sword vertically. Oblivion moved to block it with his left hand…
*Slash*
… only for the blade to pierce some of his skin, causing some blood to spill out. Oblivion was caught off guard by this, so much so that he wasn't able to block the second swung. "All you think of is how you want to punish yourself for something you couldn't stop!" The stranger slashed Oblivion with enough force to send him crashing into the wall. "Like you had something to do with the disease that killed your people!"
"Stop… TALKING!" Oblivion attempted to fire another beam of energy, only for the stranger to stomp on his hand.
"You will fail as a general!" The stranger slashed Oblivion's forehead. "You will fail as a husband!" They then slashed his left arm, causing more blood to spill onto the ground. "And once again… YOU WILL FAIL AS A FATHER!"
Those words… those words struck Oblivion deeper than any weapon ever could. No… no, he couldn't deal with that heartbreak again. To see his child die in his arms, begging to be saved. HE WASN'T GOING TO EXPERIENCE THAT AGAIN!
The stranger raised their sword and thrusted it towards Oblivion's heart…
*SHATTER*
However, before they could pierce his skin… Oblivion hit the sword with enough force to shatter it, pieces of the sword falling onto the ground. The stranger stepped back in surprise as Oblivion got back up, his eyes glowing blood red. "DON'T. TALK. ABOUT. MY. FAMILY!" With a beast like roar, Oblivion slammed his fist onto the stranger's stomach, sending them flying to the ground. He didn't stop as he walked up to the stranger and picked them up by the neck, slamming them hard against the wall. "YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT MY PAIN! MY SUFFERING!" Oblivion squeezed their neck before smashing them against the wall.
Then again.
And again.
And again.
With each slam, the walls began to crumble, yet Oblivion didn't care whatsoever. All he was doing was letting out all his frustration out in one go. However, the stranger was shocked when several tears started to fall down Oblivion's eyes. "EVERYONE I LOVED DIED BECAUSE OF THAT DISEASE, AND NO ONE HELPED US! THEY SUFFERED FOR SO LONG WITHOUT ME AND WHEN I FINALLY RETURNED, THEY WERE GONE! NOTHING BUT CORPSES ROTTING IN THE SUN! YOU WOULD NEVER UNDERSTAND WHAT I WENT THROUGH!" Squeezing the stranger's neck, Oblivion threw them over his shoulder, sending them crashing to the ground. Oblivion looked at them once more before he opened a hand towards them, allowing it to glow a dark green aura, different from what he had before. "This ends now."
"Hehehehehe…" Oblivion expected the stranger to cry out in pain or even beg for their life, yet instead, they were laughing. Not a crazy laugh or a forced laugh, but one of amusement, much to his confusion. "Good, so this is your resolve." The strange said before they pushed themselves up, turning towards him as if the attacks did nothing. "You passed the test."
"Test? You mean to tell me that this battle was nothing but a test?" Oblivion questioned with an annoyed expression. He was about to get stabbed, yet it was nothing but a test? Who in their right mind would think this was a good idea?
"Yes, it was." The stranger grabbed their hood before removing it, revealing a humanoid alien with green skin and purple eyes. Oblivion actually widened his eyes in shock.
"Y-You're one of-"
"I am." The stranger said with a nod. "As I said, I am a guard for the Amulet of Egon, sworn to stay here until someone worth came along." They looked at Oblivion's wounds with a small frown. "For what it's worth, I am sorry for the excessive way I tested you. But if someone unworthy were to take the Amulet."
"No, I understand." Oblivion said with a small nod. "Will you take me to the Amulet now?" He raised a brow when the stranger chuckled.
"There's no need. It's in front of you." The stranger said in amusement. They reached behind their neck before unhooking something. Oblivion let out a small gasp as the stranger opened their cloak, revealing the object he was seeking.
The Amulet of Egon.
It was gold and shone as bright as the sun. There were several strange symbols written on it and a single red gem in the middle of it.
"Why would you wear the Amulet?" Oblivion couldn't help but ask.
"Because I wanted to see if someone would be able to match the Amulet's power, whether through sheer might or intelligence." The stranger replied before extending the Amulet of Egon towards Oblivion. "Malvon, you have shown me how strong you truly are, and for that, you are worthy to wear this. In the name of our people." Oblivion stared at the Amulet for a few moments. It was right there. All he needed to do was grab it and he would have a boost in power that even the Rangers wouldn't be able to match.
And yet… he hesitated.
"Do you know of the crimes I have committed? The bodies I have left behind?" Oblivion said in a rather sad tone. The stranger solemnly nodded, having seen it all through the Amulet. "Do you truly think I am worthy? I sought it out for the power, but it still holds our people's history."
"That is exactly why you deserve it." The stranger said, putting a hand on Oblivion's shoulder. "Only a resident of Kaon should be allowed to wield the Amulet and its power. Even with the sins you have committed, you still carry our legacy. Besides…" The stranger softened their expression. "I know why you search for the Dimension Crystals. If you truly think it would bring you peace… then do it. Only fate can decide your course of action." With that, the stranger opened Oblivion's palm before placing the Amulet on it.
The moment Oblivion grabbed the Amulet… it let out a small red spark.
Almost instantly, Oblivion felt a surge of power coursed through his body. He let out a small groan before he relaxed a bit. Looking down at his arm, Oblivion was surprised to see that the slash wounds were fading away to nothing, like he wasn't in a fight at all.
"Incredible, so this is the Amulet's power." Oblivion said to himself in awe. "Tell me, what will you-" But the moment Oblivion looked up… the stranger was gone. There weren't even foot marks on the ground they stood on. "I see." He looked back at the Amulet of Egon before tying it around his neck. "In any case, I will use the power of the Amulet to avenge our people."
With that, Oblivion had a look of resolve as he began to walk out of the catacombs.
Now, the tide of the war between him and the Rangers will shift in his favor.
Man, how hard am I making it for you guys to hate Oblivion? Even he admits to all the pain and suffering he had caused over the years and didn't feel like he should get the Amulet. As I said before, every villain is the hero of their own story. And trust me, there's a deeper layer to Oblivion than you'd think.
Before you guys go off about me not showing where Wendy and Carla will be, they will be in half of the next chapter before departing. I want them to bond with the Rangers a little more, especially with Natsu leaving. This chapter was admittedly dark and I have no problem with it. There will be a lot of darker crap to happen, so please watch out for that. We are two chapters away from the reveal of the next ranger and I think a lot of you will be happy with them(though, maybe not my editor Earth Dragon Arnighte. By the way, give shout out to him.)
